Chapter 5: The Massage Invitation

The smell of James’s cologne seemed to linger in the studio long after he’d left, a toxic cloud fouling Stu’s careful, clean design. He stood motionless for a full minute, his mind a roaring static of violation and panic.First come, first served. The words were a cattle prod to his nerves.James didn’t plot.James took. And he’d just declared open season.

Stu’s next session with Ben was two days away. It felt like a lifetime, an eternity in which James could swoop in with his predatory charisma and crude promises. The plan needed to accelerate, violently.

When Ben arrived on Saturday morning, he found Stu already warmed up, pacing the functional turf like a caged animal. “You’re looking… intense,” Ben offered with a tentative smile, setting his water bottle down.

“Just thinking about your progression,” Stu said, forcing his own smile to soften.“We’re hitting a crucial point. The foundation’s built. Now it’s about refinement, and that requires next-level recovery. The stretches are good, but for the level of tension you’re carrying, they’re just scratching the surface.”

Ben’s expression turned eager, trusting.“What’s next-level?”

“Sports massage. A targeted, full-body cool-down.Myofascial release. It’s what the pros do.” Stu kept his tone clinical, matter-of-fact. “It’ll flush the lactic acid, break up adhesions, dramatically improve your range of motion and results. Honestly, I should have incorporated it weeks ago.”

Ben blinked.“Like, a real massage?”

“Therapeutic. Part of the premium package you’re on.” This was a lie.Ben was on the standard tier. “No extra charge. Consider it an essential tool.” Stu watched the conflict play out on Ben’s face: the ingrained politeness, the lingering shame from his ex’s barbs about his body, the genuine desire to improve. The trust won.“If you think it’ll help. I don’t want to be sore for the design team hike next weekend.”

“It’ll make sure you’re not.”

After the workout—a brutal circuit Stu engineered to leave Ben’s muscles twitching and spent—they returned to the studio. Stu dimmed the lights further, leaving only a single strip of LED glowing along the mirror’s base. He laid out a fresh, thick mat and a small towel.“Face down to start. Arms by your sides, head turned to whichever side is comfortable.”

Ben complied, his movements slow with fatigue. He laid his cheek on the folded towel, a soft sigh escaping him as his body met the supportive floor. Stu’s mouth was dry again, a desert. He knelt beside him, uncapping a bottle of unscented almond oil.The glug was obscenely loud.He warmed a pool in his palms.

He began at the shoulders, working with deliberate, firm pressure. Ben flinched at the initial contact, then melted into it with a groan that was half-pain, half-relief. “God, that’s tight.”

“Told you.” Stu worked in silence for a few minutes, mapping the geography of Ben’s back: the pronounced scapulae, the shallow trench of his spine, the surprising density of muscle he’d built in just weeks. He poured more oil, the slickness making his movements smoother, more intimate. He worked down the erector spinae, his thumbs digging into the rope-like muscles flanking Ben’s spine. Each press elicited a soft gasp.“How’s the pressure?”

“Perfect. It’s… really perfect.”

Stu moved to the legs, kneading the hamstrings with deep, rhythmic strokes. The lean muscle was like hard rubber under his hands. He could feel the heat radiating from Ben’s skin, the slight stickiness of sweat mixed with oil. His own breath felt measured, surgical, even as his heart thudded against his ribs. Then he straddled Ben’s thighs.

He did it smoothly, settling his weight just above Ben’s knees, a professional maneuver for leverage. Ben stiffened for a second, a full-body jolt of surprise. “Sorry,” Stu murmured, his voice low and calm.“Need the angle for your glutes. They’re a disaster area.” He resumed work on the lower back, his thumbs pressing deep into the sacrum. Ben gradually relaxed again, his breath evening out.

Stu shifted his attention lower, his palms spreading over the firm curves of Ben’s glutes, still confined by the thin, damp shorts. He worked the oil into the fabric, darkening it, making it cling. He kneaded the muscle with a focused, demanding intensity, using his body weight to sink into the tension. Ben began to make small, unconscious sounds—muffled moans, sharp inhales. His hips shifted minutely against the mat.

The room was a universe of sound: their breathing, the slick shush of Stu’s hands, the distant, muffled thump of bass from a spin class two rooms over. Stu’s fingers, working at the crest of Ben’s hips, drifted inward with each kneading motion, pressing against the outer seams of his shorts. Then, on a downstroke, his thumb of his right hand slid lower, following the cleft of his ass, pressing firmly through the fabric along the central seam.Ben’s breathing hitched, stalled. His body went utterly still.

Stu didn’t pause. He kept the pressure steady, therapeutic. “This is where it all ties together,” he said, his voice a clinical murmur in the semi-darkness. “The pelvic floor. It’s usually locked up tight, especially with emotional stress.” He repeated the motion, the ball of his thumb riding the damp, clothed seam with intentional pressure. “You have to let it go.”

A long, shuddering exhale left Ben.He pressed his forehead into the towel. His hands, which had been lying limp, curled into loose fists. “It’s… a lot,” he whispered, voice thick.

“It’s supposed to be.” Stu finally lifted his hand, moving back to the safer territory of Ben’s upper hamstring. The point was made. The boundary was tested, and it had held. “We’ll flip you over in a minute for the quads and pecs.”

He continued working, his mind brilliantly, terrifyingly clear. He had felt the minute tremors in Ben’s body, the involuntary clench and release. It wasn’t rejection. It was overwhelm. A door had been cracked, and a blinding, confusing light was pouring through.James’s sneering face flashed in his mind. First come, first served.

Stu leaned forward, his lips close to Ben’s ear, his voice so low it was almost inaudible over the thrum of the building.“You’re doing great, Ben. This is where the real change happens. Not just in the muscle. In everything.”
