Chapter 1: Introduction

The sun hung low on the horizon, casting its last golden rays on the desolate wasteland. Dust kicked up by my rusty truck swirled past. I had a cargo to deliver to this village, medicine direly needed.

I accelerated between the buildings, and saw a swastika spray-painted on the ruins.

I was too late. The Nazi mutants had beaten me here.

I frowned as I heard the distant hum of motorcycles growing louder. Great, what now?

I glanced at my gas gauge and sighed. My truck could barely make it through another mile. The rumble of engines was getting closer, and I gripped my steering wheel tighter. I was out of options.

As I turned a corner, I saw a group of men on motorcycles rounding up a handful of survivors, guns trained on them. My heart raced, but I couldn't back down now. I pressed down on the pedal, and my truck lurched forward. The sound of gunfire echoed around me, and I returned fire with my AK-47. The bullets from the mutant nazis whizzed past my truck, and I ducked as low as I could. I didn't dare look back, but I could hear the sound of their engines growing louder.

Three bikes and a jeep roared after me.

My heart pounded in my chest as I weaved through the debris-strewn streets. The chasing vehicles straddled the line between grit and gleam, their metallic bodies slick and black. The mutant Nazis dismantling the remnants of the old world, forging their own twisted take on history.

I could hear the laughter and taunts of the men on the bikes as they closed the gap. I gripped the steering wheel, my knuckles white from tension. I needed to find cover, fast.

As one bike rolled past, I swerved and stuck him, crushing him against the side of the building in a smear of blood and oil as he and his bike disintegrated.

The others did not seem to care, nor break formation or speed. Rage surged through me. These mutant nazis had no dignity, no respect for the sanctity of life.

I spied a narrow alleyway up ahead and pressed the pedal to the metal, daring to look in my rearview mirror. The jeep and remaining bikes had fallen back a bit as I careened through the gap. I felt a moment of relief, but it was short-lived.

As I swung back onto the main road, I saw another pack of mutant nazis waiting for me. They jeered and fired, and I returned fire as I sped towards them. I managed to take down two of them with a hail of bullets, but their comrades opened up, and my truck was shredded by gunfire. I lost control and slammed into a pile of debris.

My head swam as I staggered out of the wreckage. I fumbled for my rifle, and limped into cover.

A nearby alley provided some much-needed respite, and I leaned against the cool brick wall. I surpressed a groan of pain as I inspected my injuries - a gash across my thigh, and a bullet wound in my shoulder. I gritted my teeth, trying to ignore the pain.

I heard the chilling sound of engines approaching, and my heart raced. How would I survive this? I knew I couldn't outrun them on foot.

I had no choice but to lay low. I stumbled through the ruined buildings, finding an elevated position in a pile of debris. Perfect.

A few minutes went by, and the Nazi scum called out, taunting me.

Their voices echoed through the desolate cityscape as I held my breath, watching them roam for any signs of movement. I was safe for now, but I couldn't afford to relax.

My eyes scanned the surroundings for any potential weapons or escape routes. From my vantage point, I saw one in the distance, his lips peeled back to reveal fangs, his bloated gut hanging out of his shirt.

"Where did you go, mongrel?" He snarled, looking for me. Two more flanking him, they searched the rubble for me.

I waited until I had a clear shot, and then squeezed the trigger. The bullet found its mark, tearing through the putrid flesh that was the Nazi's brains. He went down, writhing on the ground.

The other two Nazis spun around, firing blindly in my direction. I didn't move, just carefully shifting my aim.

My rifle boomed and the next nazi collapsed as my shot ripped through his neck. He took a long time to die, coughing and bleeding, but the third Nazi must have noticed my muzzle flash, and ducked.

My next round whizzed past his head, shattering a window in the building behind him.

My breathing grew ragged as I propped myself up further, trying to prevent the shock of the gunshots from claiming me. I knew it wasn't over yet.

The third Nazis took cover on the other side of their dead colleague’s corpses while reloading. I ducked back down behind my cover as they fired upon me.

He stopped shooting. It was now a waiting game.

Minutes ticked by. The sun got lower. I could feel the blood ooze out of my wound. I couldn't see or hear the last target, and I knew he was waiting for me.

I needed to draw him out carefully.

I whispered, "Come on out, you ugly piece of shit."

The tension built up, and I braced myself. I was in pain, but I couldn't let my guard down. Suddenly, I heard voices... female voices.

I cocked my head, straining to hear.

"The humans of this world were not overly violent, but their leaders were, and they started a war with toxic weapons that destroyed their society," one said.

"How sad, to think the survivors have to scrape by in this wasteland," another replied.

I watched, and saw them, a pair of cats, fluffy and cute, chatting as they observed the blasted ruins.

Wait a minute, cats?!

I poked my head above the debris, and my eyes widened. Sure enough, there were two of them - talking cats. I blinked, trying to process what I was seeing.

My jaw dropped as I watched.

Were they hallucinations, mere tricks of the light? But the more I looked, the more I realized that they were real. The cats in question were fluffy and sleek, one with fur as white as snow, the other a speckled gold. And they were talking, conversing in a way that I couldn't ignore.

"I don't understand why they kept destroying their own planet," the white cat mused, her eyes reflecting the burning sky around us.

"They never learned how to live sustainably," the other cat replied.

I strained to listen, unable to tear my gaze away from them. "They thought they had time and resources to spare, but they were foolish."

The sun had almost disappeared entirely, leaving the wasteland bathed in twilight. The chattering cats had provided me with a glimmer of hope in this warped and barren world.

The white fur-covered cat pawed at the other. "I really wish the humans of this dimension could learn to respect one another and not destroy themselves, but it's too late, I can see some have already begun devolving and mutating into warlike tribes. We've traveled across many planes, but never have we witnessed a people so bent on killing each other," the white cat lamented, her crystalline eyes glancing at the fallen corpses scattered around.

The gold-speckled cat shrugged, her ruby eyes narrowing as she pawed at the ground. "It's always a tragedy when civilizations destroy themselves. Now we have to live with the consequences of their actions."

They roamed closer to my hiding place, but I noticed the Nazi was roaming closer, lured by female voices. I couldn't get a clear shot.

I caught only glimpses of their fluid movements, hesitant to alert them to my presence. It was lucky for them the cat's curious nature almost made up for their slow reaction times.

I peeked out from behind my cover, and I couldn't help but stare. They stared back at me, those beautiful furry faces, their blue eyes glimmering in the twilight.

"What are you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

The white cat tilted her head.

"I had not considered the possibility of communicating with humans. We are usually seen as pests or nuisances."

"I had the same thought," the gold-speckled cat agreed. "But clearly, we can speak to each other."

My eyes wide with fascination, I ducked back into cover but couldn't resist looking up. "You can talk? What are you?"

The white cat sighed. "We shouldn't be interfering, we've already dallied too long, and we can't just go around meddling with these humans by alerting them to our presence."

Suddenly the mutant Nazi stepped over the rubble and shouldered his gun, drawing a bead on the cats.

"Furry little vermin!" He snarled, taking aim.

"Look out!" I shouted, diving into the way. The weapon in the Nazi's hands barked out a burst of shots.

A hideous mutant in a post-apocalyptic world, fanged mouth, armed with an assault rifle, covered in makeshift armor, drooling, rotten flesh

The bullets struck me across the chest, and I fired back, my shot clean, taking him right between the eyes, but I collapsed, wheezing. I felt my lungs filling with blood.

Every breath burned like hell. I tried to hold in the screaming pain that wracked my body.

"You- you saved us!" Said the white cat.

"Why would you do that?" The gold cat said, "why would you sacrifice yourself for strangers?" I struggled to answer, blood pooling beneath me.

"Because even in a wasteland like this, there are those of us who try to help one another, some things are innately right, and you two don't deserve to die."

My vision started to blur. The world around me grew fuzzy, and I could feel myself slipping away. I fought to remain conscious, desperate to hear their response.

The white cat leaned closer, curiosity burning bright in her gaze. "You are unlike any human we’ve ever encountered.

You chose to protect us even though it meant sacrificing yourself," the white cat whispered in awe. "Who are you?"

"My name is Sam," I replied. My strength was fading, and I knew I wouldn't last much longer.

The gold cat's crystal eyes filled with worry. "What do we do now?" she asked.

"We take this human with us. We owe him that. We can save him."

"Human males can't exist in our world, Luna!" The gold cat said.

"We change him then. Remake him. He'll be reborn, and hopefully he'll find some peace, especially if he's alongside the princess."

"Sam, hold on, listen to me!" The gold cat said. "Stay with me, Sam, we're going to take you away from all of this." The white cat's voice was a calming whisper as she leaned in closer, her fur tickling my nose.

"What are you going to do to me?" I finally asked, fighting to hold on to consciousness through the waves of pain and blood loss that kept trying to pull me under.

"Luna and I are interdimensional beings tasked with maintaining the balance of power throughout the multiverse, and we've been observing your world. But you, Sam, something is different about you.

I can't explain what it is, but my senses are telling me to help you."

The gold cat, Lilith, chimed in, "Luna's right. There's something unique about you. Not many humans possess the courage to protect complete strangers, and we can't let that go to waste."

Their words pierced through the haze of pain that clouded my mind. The last light of day flickered and died as darkness overtook me.

The cats, Luna and Lilith, crouched beside me, their furry bodies warm around mine. I could feel a strange energy pulsating from them, a sensation that seemed to knit me back together.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a vaguely familiar world, although it was imbued with colors and textures that defied description. We stood atop a hill, looking out over a lush landscape that seemed to pulse with life stretching as far as the eye could see.

The ground beneath me felt softer, no longer the unforgiving concrete and steel, but a resilient and spongy grass. The air was perfumed with an enchanting fragrance of flowers and fresh rain, setting a contrast to the heavy toxic scent from the wasteland I left behind.

"Sam, can you hear us?" Luna asked, a touch of worry in her voice.

"Uh, yeah. This-this is incredible," I said, stunned by the transformation around me.

I found that they had changed. They were no longer cats, but impossibly beautiful girls.

The transformation shocked me, but their expressions were tender, and I felt no fear.

"What in God's name..." I muttered.

Lilith, now a tall and ethereal golden haired maiden, smiled gently, her crystal blue eyes making her appearance that much more surreal. Luna had taken on the form of a snowy maiden, her hair so white it looked almost luminescent under the dusky sunlight.

"Goddess, Sam," said Luna, her voice pure and clear. "Her name is Lilith, and I am Luna." "We decided to help you because we believe that every being deserves a chance at redemption, and you, Sam, proved you deserve one by protecting us."

Her words were soft but powerful, settling something in me I realized I needed to hear. The two magical girls regarded me with genuine concern; their eyes shone with warmth, unlike any others in this post-apocalyptic society.

The once desolate wasteland I had known was now replaced with rolling hills and dense woods.

Two anime goddesses, one with white hair, one with blonde hair. Grassy hill, long elf ears, fabulous gowns, glittering crowns, blue eyes, flowing ribbons, elaborate headdress, long elf ears, glowing eyes, puffy sleeves, frilly dress

Mist hung in the air, and the realm was lit by an ethereal moonlight that made everything seem magical and mysterious.

I attempted to stand, but my legs shook and buckled beneath me. The labyrinth of my broken bones threatened to overwhelm me once more. Luna and Lilith stood beside me, their gazes filled with worry and determination.

Luna reached out and crouched beside me, gently helping me to sit instead. Her gentle touch surprised me, but I didn't protest. Instead, I took in the beauty of this new world, feeling gratitude swell within me.

"It's beautiful," I breathed.

Lilith and Luna knelt beside me, their eyes scanning my form. They looked pained, and I could see the concern etched into their delicate faces. Their features were achingly similar—the way their brows pinched together, the curve of their cheekbones—and I fought to remain present in the whirl of thoughts that tugged at me.

"Sam, we need to heal you," Lilith murmured, her voice barely an exhale. Her fingers sparked with a silver light as she pressed them against my chest.

"You cannot exist in this form, we have to remake you," she said, "You're going to fall asleep, but you will be reborn as a whole new being." My mind swam with confusion, but before I could object, I felt a wave of warmth flow over me. I blinked, and the pain subsided as a queer calmness washed over me.

I realized I could breathe without a struggle, and I felt free of the heavy burden of injuries I had borne for so long. My consciousness began to waver, threatened by the darkness tugging at the edges of my vision.

As I succumbed to sleep, Lilith and Luna took me between them, and I nestled into their embrace, secure and safe. I trusted them.

I let myself sink into the unknown, embraced by the warmth and light that emanated from these otherworldly beings. It was as though I was floating on a cloud, enveloped in a peaceful, tranquil state.

My body seemed to disolve, and my mind soared through space.

I could feel a gentle tugging at my core. I found myself floating in a realm beyond, an in-between, a place where dimensions overlapped. The landscape was fluid - shimmering curtains of brilliant colors, a matrix of threads, and paths that stretched beyond my comprehension.

The goddesses were there with me. Luna and Lilith soared on luminous wings, twirling and swooping, leaving glittering trails of sparkling diamond glitter behind them.

Their movements were like ethereal dancers, weaving and interlacing in an intricate ballet. I was in awe of their beauty, which was beyond comprehension - Luna's snow white gown shimmered ever so slightly as it caught the light while Lilith's golden robes flowed like water around her.

I felt their thoughts, their power, the feeling of my body and perception of self seemed to be sculpted by them. I felt my capacity for compassion growing. Yes, my heart had been hardened by the world around me, but these goddesses were showing me another way. They were helping me heal. They were helping me recover, and most importantly, they were rebuilding my trust in others and my lust for life.

Luna glanced at me. "You're changing, Samantha." But this isn't us, it was always within you." She said with a smile, her eyes glazed over as she hovered over me, her wings shimmering in the dim light of the otherworld. "Wait, Samantha? Is that my name now?" I asked, confused.

Lilith chuckled gently. "Yes, Sam. We are remaking you, rebuilding like a worn-down structure. This form-this pink hair, the long ears, the tail, and the body you'll inhabit-were always parts of you. They were beneath the surface all along."

The words sounded preposterous.

Body? Such concepts were alien to me. I was a luminous being of light.

I could see the matrix of tendrils that made up the very fabric of this existence, and it was both surreal and disconcerting.

"What's happening to me?" My voice reverberated like a bell through the in-between realm.

"We are rebuilding you from your core," Luna gestured to the tendrils that wrapped around my essence.

"What you knew as Sam is transforming into something new. You'll have a lithe, athletic body, pink hair and ears like a cat's. And you won't just look different-your entire being will shift. But, there's no need to fear; all of it is already there, hiding underneath the surface. It's simply peeking through now." Lilith explained, her voice as gentle as a whispering breeze.

The idea of transforming into a new being was strange and unsettling, but I felt at ease with Luna and Lilith beside me.

"Look now, this is the new world that you're going to inhabit. A pet project of ours, here is a kingdom of elven women. A dazzling world of beauty, and we've been cultivating a fledgling goddess. A princess of her kind, she's in need of a protector and a lover. She's going to be the only breeding seed of her people, as they're all female. A guardian needs to be by her side to keep her safe; that is what you will become, Sam," Luna said. "The land is fraught with threats, lurking in the shadows, and only you can protect her."

The idea of becoming someone else was disorienting, but I found solace in the knowledge that I'd be saving someone vulnerable. I know I can protect her.

A wave of warmth washed over me, and suddenly the disturbing notion of transformation shrank into insignificance.

I was floating along, embracing the warmth and light that flowed from Luna and Lilith, feeling safe and taken care of.

My mind started to expand with an influx of divine understanding. I could sense my consciousness merging with a deeper level of reality-one I knew instinctively yet had never come close to comprehending before.

The goddesses looked on, serene and resolute. Luna waved her hand, and the dazzling colors around us turned into an endless star-specked night sky.

I saw down from the heavens to a beautiful palace, and peered into an opulent chamber. Inside was an amazingly lovely girl. She was so beautiful I immediately found myself enthralled by her. She seemed sad, but she was holding something, a potted flower. Something about it seemed like it was a part of me.

My heart ached for her-why? What did she mean to me?

Luna spoke softly, "That is your princess. A beautiful woman, destined to become your bondmate. Look closely, Samantha. Focus on her heart and mind."

I looked deep into her soul. I saw the waves of her consciousness: her grief and loneliness overwhelmed me. I ached for her pain, and I suddenly understood: she carried the burden of her people's future. They all relied on her.

She believed she could protect her realm single-handedly, yet she felt helpless and frightened.

A tremendous burden she couldn't escape, as her responsibility weighed both in her heart and mind. It was as if I could see myself in this princess, feeling this deep sense of connection between us.

"Her people's future depends on her, but the poor girl needs a guardian-someone to watch her back and provide her with love and comfort. She craves companionship, Samantha."

The more I thought about my mission, the more I felt myself slipping away. I was becoming Samantha - sensitive, nurturing, and open to life's mysteries.

"She cannot eat or drink like us, now she's hit puberty," said Luna. "You will sustain her. So this flower will bring about your presence into her life. See now, she plants it and prays to us." I watched, and sure enough, she replanted the flower in a small garden before a shrine, where two cats were engraved. She prayed fervently to them, head bowed. Lilith and Luna smiled at this, satisfied that their work would soon begin.

"We must hurry along, Samantha. Time is running out, and she has waited long enough for her partner." The two goddesses embraced and concentrated as they reached out to touch the flower in her royal garden.

As they did, an essence flew from the flower like a soft, glittering breeze, floating down to swirl around my very core. I felt my consciousness fold back into myself, and I felt a pull.

I stared at the goddesses in front of me again. We were in a realm beyond time and space. I could not grasp that strange new feeling.

"You-you did something to me," I stammered, "Why do I feel so different?"

Luna's lips formed a warm smile. "Of course, Samantha, you have been transformed. You are now someone entirely new."

"Now, you must take the form you were always meant to have."

I felt myself begin to dissipate, my consciousness folded again and again, my cloud-like form began to suck into the flower like inhaled smoke.

The in-between realm receded, and I felt myself reforming as if blown up like a balloon. I could still observe, but as I was sucked up and reformed, I felt that power fading.

"Watch now, Samantha," said Lilith.

"And listen," said Luna.

I could hear the girl's prayer. I knew she was praying to them, these amazing goddesses.

Luna and Lilith, the ones who'd been guiding me all along. The two who had explained my transformation - not just physical but spiritual, too.

Understanding overwhelmed me, I could feel their presence inside me. I listened to her words:

"Great goddesses, please help me. I am told by my court that I am now an adult, and as such, I am experiencing changes. My body is no longer a child's, but as princess, this means both great things for my people but terrible things for me. I, I-"

She choked up, tears forming in her dazzling blue eyes.

"I cannot stomach my meals," she said with a sob as her voice broke. "I try to eat but my food tastes of ash in my mouth. The healing priestesses do not understand. I hunger deeply, but I cannot seem to tolerate anything. I can't seem to bring myself to eat." The prayer struck me to the core as I felt her sorrow resonating within me, knowing all too well what it's like to scavenge what little sustenance there is in the wasteland.

Luna and Lilith exchanged a knowing glance.

"Great goddesses, please, hear my prayer," the Princess continued. "My heart yearns not just for food, but for love. I'm so alone. My duties and my body make me a pariah in my own palace. I wish, I wish for someone to save me from my torment. Please, oh great goddesses, hear my prayer."

"WE HEAR YOU!" Luna and Lilith said together.

At that very moment, a brilliant wave of pure golden-white light blossomed like a supernova in the room. It filled my vision, and I felt indescribable warmth surround me as an explosion of color and energy pulsed into the room.

"Princess Ariana," Lilith said, "do not be frightened." I seemed to watch through their eyes, heard myself in their words.

"We have been watching you, and all is as we've set out to see done," said Luna.

They stepped forward, and lifted the princess from her prayer.

Her sapphire eyes were wide with shock and astonishment.

"You called on us, and we have answered," one of the goddesses said, her voice like honey.

"We have heard your cries for help, and we have come to grant your deepest desires."

The other took a tress of her hair, twirling it around a finger as she continued.

"You have prayed for love, Princess. You have prayed for understanding. And we have sent you the perfect being to attend to all your needs."

They caressed her, holding her tightly. Each goddess began to gently kiss the princess.

The chamber door burst open, and several female elves in armor, as well as a regal handmaiden came into the room, but what they saw filled them with awe.

They saw their princess held aloft by the glowing forms of two goddesses, kissing her with wild passion. The room blazed with an aura of sexual desire so palpable it was almost tangible.

Lilith pulled away for a moment, her full, elegant fingers tracing the outline of Ariana’s dress before sliding it down over her shoulders. The pink fabric drifted to the floor, and Ariana stood before them, unabashedly naked, all soft curves and gorgeous smooth skin.

An astonishing sight, her graceful form gleamed under the dimly lit chamber. Her ripe, bountiful breasts, ached with desire, her nipples hardening at the waves of erotic energy flowing through the room.

The two goddesses couldn't help but stare, a ripple of excitement stirring within them. A mutual understanding passed between them, as their eyes locked on Ariana, beautiful and completely vulnerable.

The guards and handmaiden fell to their knees before the divine entities before them as the goddesses began to make love to the princess, who was floating in mid air, trembling with joyous arousal.

The goddesses started to explore the most intimate corners of the princesses' body. Luna began to kiss down Ariana's neck softly, leaving a trail of fire and lust behind. Lilith, on the other hand, moved her fingers slowly toward the princess's aching mound, the folds already slick with undeniable lust, and slipped one finger into her quivering tunnel of love. I could feel my own excitement throbbing in the deepest part of me, unleashing a torrent of shameful hunger.

"Princess Ariana, you are to receive a gift, but also a responsibility," Luna said.

"We see you have planted the moonflower, symbol of our love, and paid your fealty at our shrine," said Lilith.

"For this, we shall answer your prayers. We have brought you a heroic soul from another world, and imbued it with our power. She will grow, and you will care for her, and in return, she shall care for you."

They continued to make love to her, her body quivering as she floated in their embrace.

The words and lyrics of the rousing ballad the goddesses sung seemed to fill the room, the music rising, building towards an orchestral climax.

Luna's other hand roamed the princess's slick curves, roaming the endless plane of passion beneath her palm. Meanwhile, Lilith's sweet, gentle kisses descended to Ariana's warm breasts. Each heart-shatteringly electric contact between princess and goddess seemed to pull something from within her very soul.

The princess's body arched as waves of pleasure flooded through her. Her knees pressed against the small of Luna's back, pulling the goddess closer. Her hands, now unclasped, entwined in the silken tresses of Lilith's golden hair.

It seemed Ariana's every nerve ending was alive with erotic energy; it pulsed from her, filling the room and casting its spell over everyone present. There was no resisting the unspoken command - it tingled upon the skin and sank deep into the mind.

Ariana's body shuddered with desire as if struck by an electric bolt.

The two beings who held her - Lilith and Luna - began to merge, their bodies overlapping to create a singular divine silhouette. Their skin glowed golden, radiating warmth and light. Her princess knew she could be a goddess if only she held on to this blinding surge of ecstasy.

The princess' eyes fluttered closed as her lips parted with a soft moan.

She leaned into the all-encompassing warmth of this single, divine figure.

The being's hands continued their exploration of Ariana's soft, tender body. They traced a finger along her slit, now drenched in dew from the whirlwind of erotic energy that began building from the moment the song started. Her hips rocked back against the goddess' touch, eager to feel more. As she continued to quiver beneath the divine being, her princess let out a low moan.

She opened her eyes, and the glow of the golden form made her lips part with awe.

The being leaned into her, its touch sending unparalleled swells of pleasure coursing through Ariana.

They pulled away, leaving ripples of pleasure in their wake. Ariana looked up at this form and watched as it transformed.

It split apart once more, and two glowing beings emerged, their bodies shimmering beneath the dim spell of light.

The last remnants of the golden form flowed into the flower, into me. I felt their power merging with my own, filling the flower with the energy of all three of us.

I could see a cascade of emotions swelling within the princess, her beautiful body freezing, unable to contain the desire brewing within her.

"Oh!" she gasped, her hands grabbing for support as waves of heavenly delights washed over her body.

Ariana doubled over, moaning, as her own orgasmic climax swept through her.

I felt the life within me surge, fueling Ariana's overwhelming pleasure and amplifying her moans with mine.

Luna pulled away, her chest heaving as she laughed with pure delight.

"Princess, care for this flower and the life it brings," Lilith said.

"Do this, and she will care for you," echoed Luna.

Then, their light began to dissipate, and Ariana drifted to the floor.

"Princess!" The handmaiden called. "My Lady, you, you're amazing!" the handmaiden stammered, her wide-eyed gaze sweeping over her princess, who stood before her, naked and breathless from the intense sensual encounters she'd just experienced with the divine goddesses.

Ariana couldn't help but blush, shyly averting her eyes at the remark as the handmaiden's astonished proclamation hung heavily in the air. The princess composed herself and gestured toward her faithful servant. "My handmaiden, please, a robe for myself..."

The goddesses began to drift away, and with them, my perception dissolved. But before they left for the heavens, I heard them both one more time: "We will see you again, Samantha, for as long as you care for your princess," Luna whispered.

Lilith's hand lingered on mine. "Remember, we are with you, always," she said.

Then, they disappeared, leaving me in that strange, celestial realm.

My mind blew away like dust in the wind.

I was unable to witness the events of the days that followed. What I didn't know was that the meeting of the princess and the goddesses had been foretold. Hidden deep within the folklore of Ariana's people was an ancient prophecy, passed from generation to generation in hushed whispers and reverent tones.

The legend said that when the world was ripe with darkness, plagued by creatures of shadow and sorrow, a princess from the line of Luna would emerge to lead her people through the chaos. She would stand alone, but not for long. For when she planted the moonflower at the sacred shrine, the goddesses would answer her call, gifting her with a guardian from a distant realm.

This guardian would merge with the princess, sustaining her in the most secret of ways, and would in turn be nourished by the princess.

And it was said that, at this union, the two souls would be irrevocably bonded, like a river meeting the ocean.

Forever intertwined, they'd form a single entity and share one heartbeat.

Together, they'd vanquish the darkness and restore order to the world.

The princess would use the guardian's love to repopulate the kingdom, long plagued by infertility, as there are no male elves.

There was an encroaching darkness in the land, and only the love of this guardian would help the princess defeat it. This prophecy had been kept secret from her, in order to protect her.

By knowing it, she would have grown afraid and unprepared for her forthcoming plight. Thus, she was clueless as her handmaiden helped her dress in a silken gown, a shimmering sea of silver that complemented her platinum blonde hair and slipped easily over curves that had once seemed so constrained in her former life.

The handmaiden fussed over the princess, fastening her remaining stray locks onto her head, and securing the delicate jeweled clip that Queen Nyx, her mother, had given her as a symbol of maturity.

The clip fastened to her hair beautifully, like a blossoming flower amidst the golden tresses. Ariana sighed with relief and thanked her handmaiden, before she looked around for someone, anyone to be there for her.

Feeling abandoned, lost, and alone, she walked through the grand hallways of the castle. It was utterly empty, so quiet, so cold--like a tomb to all that was once greatness.

As she trudged down the hallways, she could feel the strong pull of the moonflower emitting an aura of hope deep within her soul.

The flower had been her mother's, and now it was a part of her. Guided by the Goddesses' prophecy, she cautiously entered the dark and terrifying forest, unsure of what awaited her.

The moonflower's glow led the way, its presence both an assurance and an enigma.

She had thought little about bringing the flower back to the shrine garden in her chambers, but was unwittingly fulfilling the prophecy engineered by Lilith and Luna.

Now, her guards and handmaiden tucked her into bed, still bewildered by the visit from their goddesses. None had seen anything like it, and rumors flooded the kingdom.

It almost seemed too good to be true, yet there was proof. The goddesses left behind a message, a whisper of their presence lingered in the form of a golden phoenix: a symbol of rebirth, symbolizing they had brought forth their guardian.

Princess Ariana's mind buzzed with the day's events. She felt a strange energy within her, radiating from the place below her belly button-which her maids had long instructed her to protect if she were to maintain the fertility of her race.

She looked at the moo flower in her little garden, and swore to care for it.

Little did she know what it carried in its diverse colors and its nighttime fragrance.

"I'll care for it, my goddesses," she said.

"I'll tend to it every day, ensuring it thrives."

And so, she promised herself.

She wrapped herself in a thick blanket, letting the soft fabric envelop her all the way to her fingertips. Ariana lay in bed, staring up at the crystal chandelier above her. The moonlight streaming through the window cast a shine onto the otherworldly beauty of the crystal clusters.

It wasn't quite midnight, but soon there would be stars and clouds, as the sun bid adieu to her reign.

The moon glowed through the window of the glass chamber and permeated the royal bedroom, painting it silver. The chamber was filled with amethyst tapestries and velvet fabrics, gently swaying in the ocean breeze that flowed through the shattered remains of the palace windows.

Ariana stood in the middle of her room, gazing at the moonflower in her hand, twirling it behind her back. She traced her index finger along the slender stem, following each delicate petal with her fingertips.

The sweet scent of the moonflower filled her room, and the soothing sensation calmed her wild thoughts.

Wrapped in her blanket, Ariana leaned against the edge of her window to contemplate and cherish her moment alone. Silence filled the air, only to be broken by the chirping of a few night birds and the crashing of waves on the shore beyond her palace windows.

The moonlight seemed to shine through the window to the moonflower, and it suddenly bloomed. It was beautiful. She felt drawn to it again.

She gently watered it, and it seemed to grow right before her eyes.

She gasped, and watered it a little more. It seemed to quiver. And then it grew again. Almost imperceptibly, but she was sure of it.

Her body tensed as she continued her exploration. Something stirred in the rich loam below, something indiscernible yet palatable.

She breathed deeply, inhaling it's scent.

"Such a beautiful, unique flower," she said to herself, admiring it.

But as she went to bed and the room settled into silence, she felt a strange sensation in her tummy, an odd fluttering, growing slowly within.

Sleep eluded her and dawn approached after hours of tossing and turning. Ariana's eyes shot open, realizing that her constant struggle for sleep had gone on in vain.

As she stirred in her bed, her chest tightened with the weight of a new morning settling over her kingdom.

She sighed and pushed herself up, dragging the mound of covers off her bare legs.

The cold, damp air of her bedroom bit gently at her naked skin, and the feeling of vulnerability pressed down upon her. She stood up, shivering slightly as she padded toward the window; the remnants of the night before still seemed to linger, even as the newly minted day began.

Stepping into her warm, lavender-scented bath, she sighed in delight and allowed the heat to soothe her tense muscles. She let the water rise until it lapped gently against her neck, immersing herself in its comforting embrace as the first light of dawn began to creep through the gaps in her shuttered windows. The morning sun shimmered, casting its golden, hazy glow across the land.

Ariana couldn't help but yawn as she reflected on the previous night. Her bed beckoned her back to sleep, but she brushed such thoughts aside.

She made her way back to her bed when a knock came. Her handmaiden Delilah had arrived with breakfast.

The handmaiden was holding a tray of fruit, cheese, and warm honeyed tea. Ariana's stomach grumbled, betraying her hunger. The sight of the food awoke the wild animal within her. She was so hungry.

"Princess! The flower!" Delilah's violet hair and eyes were wide in shock. Ariana followed her gaze to see that the moonflower had doubled in size.

Its stems twisted upward, surrounding itself in a halo of petals that pulsed with the same golden life as her own flesh. Tracing the delicately interwoven flower with her eyes, Ariana saw a small bulge at the center, roughly the size of an apple. A seed pod.

"Goddesses visited you last night, and now magic blooms in your garden," Delilah said, "You're blessed, princess!"

She set the tray on the small night table, eyes still wide with admiration and awe.

Ariana frowned, eyeing the food. Her stomach grumbled with hunger, but she knew what would happen. Still, she l8fted a berry, putting it in her mouth.

The taste was horrible. It was like ash and rot. She grimaced, but chewed. She swallowed, trying to keep herself from gagging.

Ariana attempted another piece of fruit, but the taste remained horrid. With reluctance, she abandoned her attempt. She longed for real food, but alas, it was not meant to be.

Without a word, she turned to the window, her gaze fixed on the expanding moonflower. She felt as though she was missing some crucial piece of knowledge; a sign that would reveal the secrets hidden within the budding plant.

"How is this possible?" Ariana asked quietly, more to herself than to Delilah.

Delilah remained silent, knowing her mistress needed to process this on her own.

Ariana stood motionless, as the flower shimmered.

"Try to eat, Princess," Delilah said.

"You need your strength."

Ariana shook her head, her gaze nowhere near the food set before her.

The handmaiden left the room with a lingering thought about her princess.

"She has changed," she whispered, a tear rolling down her cheek.

Back in the princess' room, the flower bloom continued. It pulsed with life, unfolding layer by layer into thicker, fuller blooms.

Ariana watched, mesmerized by the burst of colors and unfolding flowers. She sighed.

She tried another bite, but even the fresh food tasted horrible. It made her gag, and she spat it out. Goddess, she was hungry.

She instead watered the flower, and read.

That night, the moonlight entered her window again, and this time she was sure she saw it grow. The large seed pod was growing as well.

It was almost the size of a ripe melon. Ariana couldn't help but marvel at this strange, miraculous growth.

She had never seen anything like it before.

The petals of the flower were glowing softly, illuminating the corner of her room with a gentle golden light. Ariana reached out to touch a petal, and as her fingers brushed up against it, a tingling sensation shot through her fingertips.

"This flower is truly something remarkable," she said to herself.

Her curiosity piqued, she decided to stay awake and watch the progression.

Her stomach growled its disagreement, but she knew the goddesses were behind this magic.

She just had to be patient.

As she monitored the seed pod, she heard several hushed whispers just outside her door; the walls had done well to mask their presence. Ariana crept towards the door, her movements silent and careful. The guards on rotation seemed to be in an animated discussion, and one seemed more animated than others.

"Have you noticed her eating habits?" The guard asked, her voice shaky.

The guard standing next to her mumbled a confirmation.

"Yes, she hasn't eaten a thing, and she hasn't slept either. She seems to be spending most of her time watering that flower."

Curiosity piqued, the third guard leaned in closely, his voice deadly serious as he spoke. "There's magic in that flower, I can feel it! Moreover, the princess herself seems to radiate this strange energy. I wouldn't be surprised if our gods had sent her some sort of omen."

The first guard shook his head, his tone thoughtful. "If that were true, why hide it from the princess?

Might we have shared such knowledge with her in hopes of strengthening her, preparing her for whatever dark forces may come?" the second guard mused.

"Perhaps." The third guard nodded. "But whether by divine design or the simple absence of information, she is blind to the enormity of the task she has undertaken."

With that, the guards fell silent, their voices barely audible outside the princess's door. Ariana's ears perked up at the mention of the plan she had been carefully avoiding. Such discussions hinted at the truth she feared to confront.

Instead, she watered the moonflower. As she went to bed that night, Ariana couldn't shake the feeling of disquiet. Her stomach still ached with hunger, and the odd fluttering sensation had intensified, now spread throughout her core.

The chirping of the night birds and the crashing of waves outside her window seemed to fade into a distant echo as the strange sensations coursed through her being. Despite her fatigue, sleep eluded her once more.

Ariana tossed and turned in her bed, her mind swirling with questions.

"What did the guard mean?

What secrets are they hiding from me?" Ariana whispered aloud to herself, clutching her stomach that now felt hard with hunger. Finally, sleep found her.

The days that followed were similar. The flower continued to grow, bigger and bigger, the seed pod had grown enormous, spilling out of the small garden of the shrine and onto the soft fur throw on the floor.

One such day, Ariana, weak with hunger, found herself laying against it. It was soft and warm, and somehow comforted her.

She allowed herself to drift into the odd reprieve from her constant hunger pangs.

Little could she realize that soon this flower would begin the transformation that had been prophesied.

A change that would unify her with it, and in turn, her with the divine will of the goddesses, Lilith and Luna.

As if magnetized, Ariana leaned further and further into the velvety flower.

It was almost as if the flower itself longed for their union.

She suddenly felt something pulse inside of the egg-like pod.

It was a powerful jolt, like something alive was struggling to break free. A tiny fissure appeared at the top of the pod, releasing a golden light that filled the room. She gasped.

An animal-like sound echoed from inside, and before her very eyes, the pod began to crack. It was then that a tiny appendage poked out of the crack: a small hand, complete with delicate fingers. An uncontrollable shiver ran down her spine as the being continued to emerge, peeling apart the remnants of the pod in the process.
