Chapter 2: The Shower Revelation

The silence in the car on the way home from the gym was a thick, toxic thing. Mark drove, his knuckles white on the steering wheel, his mind a stuck record: Girl. Looks like a girl. His ass. Looks like a girl’s ass. He’d steal glances at Jack, who was curled against the passenger window, a shapeless lump in his hoodie, staring at the blur of streetlights.

“You good?” Mark finally asked, the words booming in the silent cabin.

“Fine.”

“You’ve been… quiet.”

“Just tired.”

Another mile passed. Mark’s brain chewed on it, uselessly. He had the spatial awareness of a brick. He understood code, weights, protein macros. This was an error with no log file. Maybe he was seeing things. Maybe it was the lighting. Maybe Jack was just… storing fat weird. But the impression lingered, a grease stain on his thoughts.

At the apartment, Jack vanished into his room. Mark heard the lock click. He stood in the dark living room, flexing his forearm absentmindedly, watching the muscle jump. His own solidity usually calmed him. Now it felt like a suit he was wearing on the wrong planet.

For three days, they moved around each other like satellites decaying from the same orbit. Mark started watching, really watching. He saw how Jack now walked with a slight, unconscious sway. How he crossed his legs when he sat on the couch, knees clamped together. How the collar of his biggest hoodie sometimes gaped, revealing the sharp cut of a collarbone and the troubling hint of a soft, full curve beneath the folded fabric.

Denial, for Mark, wasn’t a warm blanket. It was a battering ram trying to hold back a tidal wave. His solution was to push harder at the gym, to make his own reality more undeniable. But the questions followed him, even under the clang of iron. What was happening to his friend?

The breaking point was stupid. Mundane. Jack was in the shower. Mark needed toothpaste. It was a simple domestic fact. He knocked once, a quick rat-a-tat.

“Yo, you gonna be long? I need the Colgate.”

“Uh… almost done!” Jack’s voice was high, strained over the rush of water.

Mark waited. He shifted his weight. The door was just wood. The toothpaste was in there. His need for it became an urgent, stupid focus. He heard the water shut off. Heard the wet slap of feet on tile. The rustle of the curtain.

And then… nothing. Just the drip of the showerhead and Jack’s soft, rapid breathing.

Suspicion, that slow-burning fuse, reached the powder keg. He didn’t think. He turned the knob—it was unlocked—and pushed the door open.

The bathroom was a sauna, the air hot and woolly with steam. The mirror was a blind, cloudy eye. Jack stood with his back to the door, frozen, a pale statue in the mist. A towel was held in front of his chest, but it was too small, clutched too low.

Mark’s brain simply broke.

The view was a full, unedited profile. Water droplets traced paths down the long, elegant line of a spine that dove into a waist so narrow Mark could have probably circled it with his hands. Below that waist, the body exploded outward into hips that were wide, rounded, unmistakably child-bearing. And the ass… the bubble butt he’d glimpsed through sweatpants was now fully, glisteningly revealed. High, pert, impossibly full, it jiggled slightly as Jack trembled.

Jack started to turn, a slow-motion nightmare of movement. The towel slipped.

Mark’s gaze snapped upward and stuck.

Jack’s chest was… it was a woman’s chest. Full, heavy breasts, DD at least, with pale, pert nipples tightened from the cooler air. They sat high on his ribcage, a devastating, graceful weight. All the layers, all the baggy clothes, had been hiding this. A body carved from different stone altogether. Smooth, hairless, with gentle slopes and profound curves.

Time didn’t stop. It shattered.

Jack made a sound, a choked gasp, and fumbled the towel back up, clutching it to his breasts, his other hand moving uselessly to cover his hips. His face was a tragedy of humiliation and terror.

Mark just stared. His mouth was desert-dry. He could smell Jack’s body wash, something with sandalwood, now clashing horribly with the visual. His own heart was a frantic drum against his ribs. He felt a hot, traitorous rush of blood, a primal, unwanted stir of arousal that immediately curdled into self-disgust. This was Jack. His buddy. His guy.

But the person in front of him wasn't a guy. Not anymore.

“What…” Mark’s voice was a rasp. “What the fuck, Jack.”

It wasn’t a question. It was an accusation.

Jack flinched as if struck. “Get out,” he whispered, the words cracking.

“What is this?” Mark’s arm gestured vaguely, helplessly, at the whole of him. The confusion was molten, turning to a sharp, panicky anger. “What did you do?”

“I didn’t do anything!” Jack’s voice rose, tears now mingling with the shower water on his cheeks. “It just… it’s happening. It’s been happening.”

“Things like this don’t just happen!” Mark barked, stepping fully into the bathroom, the steam clinging to him. “You get cancer, or you get hit by a car! You don’t just… grow tits!” The crude word hung in the air, violent and final.

Jack crumpled. The defiant anger leaked out of him, leaving pure, naked shame. He slid down the tile wall until he was sitting on the damp bathmat, knees pulled to his chest, the tiny towel his only shield. He looked small. Destroyed.

“I know,” he sobbed, the sound muffled. “I know, Mark. I’m so fucking scared.”

The raw fear in his voice punctured Mark’s anger. He stood there, a massive, sculpted monument to control, facing the utter loss of it. He looked from his own defined, vascular forearm to Jack’s smooth, slender shoulder. Two experiments. Two horrifically different results.

He slowly sank to a crouch, the steam curling around them both. The bathroom fan whirred pointlessly.

“How long?” Mark asked, his voice quieter now, frayed.

“Months.” Jack wouldn’t look at him. “It started… around when we started lifting. But different. The soreness… it wasn’t muscle. It was… this.” He gave a weak, hopeless gesture at his body. “My hair… my skin… my face…”

Mark’s mind replayed a hundred missed cues: the avoided locker rooms, the layered clothes in summer, the fatigue, the way Jack’s features had seemed softer. He’d been too busy admiring his own reflection to see the one next to him morphing.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” The question felt hollow. He knew why. He’d just proven why.

Jack finally looked up, his eyes red-rimmed and hopeless. “Tell you what? ‘Hey, Mark, my body’s turning into a girl’s’? You’d have thought I lost my mind. Or you’d have looked at me like…” He trailed off, gesturing at Mark’s stunned, repulsed face. “Like you’re looking at me right now.”

Mark had no reply. The steam was condensing on his skin, feeling like cold sweat. His earlier, involuntary physical reaction shamed him. This was a medical disaster. A freak show. His best friend.

“We need to see a doctor,” Mark said, the decision anchoring him. “Tomorrow. First thing. This is… this has to be a tumor or something. A hormonal… thing.”

Jack laughed, a bitter, wet sound. “A tumor that gives you a pixie cut waist and a big ass? What kind of cancer is that, Mark? The Instagram model kind?”

“Don’t be a smartass,” Mark snapped, but there was no heat left. He was adrift. “We have to do something. You can’t just… live like this.”

“I am living like it!” Jack cried, his composure crumbling again. “I’m living in it every second! I can’t buy clothes. I can’t look in a mirror. I haven’t seen my family. I’m a prisoner here. And you…” He swallowed hard. “You were the one person I had. And you didn’t even see me.”

The words landed like a physical blow. Mark’s obsession, his transformation, his perfect, selfish journey—it had all been a blinding light, leaving Jack in a deeper, stranger dark.

He looked at his friend—huddled, transformed, utterly alien and yet heartbreakingly familiar. The guy he’d played video games with for a decade, who hated olives on pizza, who could draw anything. That person was still in those terrified eyes.

Mark let out a long, slow breath. He reached out, hesitated, then placed a hand on Jack’s damp, narrow shoulder. The bone felt delicate under his palm.

“I see you now,” Mark said, the words tasting strange. “Okay? I see you. We’ll figure this out.”

Jack didn’t pull away.

Jack didn’t pull away. The touch was an anchor, a thread tethering him back from a sheer edge of panic. He leaned into the solid weight of Mark’s hand, his shaking subsiding into shallow, hiccuping breaths. The steam was thinning, the room coming into a cold, sharp focus.

Mark’s gaze, however, drifted helplessly downward, past the towel clutched to Jack’s chest, past the narrow waist, following the lines of his body as if mapping unfamiliar terrain. The damp bathmat was between Jack’s legs, but the pose, the sheer feminine curve of his hips and thighs, left little to the imagination.

Mark’s breath hitched. His brain, still reeling, processed one final, impossible detail in the humid air.

He wasn’t looking at a male body anymore. Not at all.

“Jack…” Mark’s voice was a choked whisper, all his prior anger and confusion condensing into a single, stunned observation. His eyes were wide, locked on what was now undeniably a pretty, pink vulva, neatly nestled between sleek thighs. The reality of it was absolute. Final. “Uh… dude.”

He swallowed, hard.

“When did your dick fall off?”

The question hung in the damp air, absurd and horrifyingly literal. It wasn’t malicious. It was the only circuitry his stunned mind could access.

Jack followed his gaze. A fresh wave of humiliation colored his cheeks, but beneath it, something else flickered—a desperate, wild defiance. The secrecy was over. The pretense was shattered. All that was left was the raw, embarrassing truth of his new anatomy and the coiled, confusing energy thrumming in his own veins.

He looked up at Mark, at the perfectly defined pectorals straining against his thin cotton t-shirt, at the veins snaking down his thick, strong arms. Mark’s transformation had been his obsession, his god. Now, under the fluorescent light, it just looked like power. A deep, aching hunger twisted low in Jack’s belly, hot and insistent, drowning out the shame.

He licked his lips, his voice dropping to a husky register that was neither his old one nor fully a woman’s—something new, and thick with need.

“Take off your shirt, bro.”

Mark blinked. “What?”

“I need to see your muscles.” Jack’s eyes were dark, pupils blown. He shifted on the mat, a slight, unconscious roll of his hips. “Right now. Please.”

The ‘please’ did it. It was a broken sound, full of want. Mark, operating on pure, stunned autopilot, his own mind shorting out, obeyed. He gripped the hem of his shirt and pulled it over his head in one smooth motion, revealing the carved, sweating topography of his torso—the granite abs, the defined serratus, the perfect swell of his pecs.

Jack’s breath left him in a soft, trembling sigh. He reached out, his fingers hovering an inch from Mark’s skin, not quite touching.

“She feels horny,” Jack whispered, the pronoun slipping out as naturally as a name, acknowledging the separate, demanding entity his body had become.

His fingertips finally made contact, tracing the deep groove between Mark’s lower abdomen and hip, a touch feather-light and electric.

His fingertips finally made contact, tracing the deep groove between Mark’s lower abdomen and hip, a touch feather-light and electric.

They trailed upward, over the rigid landscape of his abs, each defined ridge a shock under her palm. Her touch was no longer hesitant; it was hungry, exploring the dense, warm muscle of his pectorals, her thumbs brushing his nipples. She looked up at him, her eyes glassy with a need that erased every other history between them.

“Wow,” she breathed, the word husky and full of awe. “You’re like… so jacked.”

Her hands slid to the perfect, round swell of his pecs, squeezing gently as if testing the reality of him. The movement made her own towel slip lower.

Mark’s hands, moving without any command from his brain, came up and covered hers. But instead of pushing them away, his fingers slid underneath, his own rough palms settling directly on the full, shocking softness of her breasts.

He gasped. His eyes widened.

He’d never touched anything like it. The weight was profound, real. The skin was impossibly smooth, hot from the shower. His thumbs brushed over nipples that were tight pebbles, and he felt the entire structure give and yield under his grip in a way that was fundamentally, undeniably female. They felt utterly, devastatingly real.

“Holy shit,” Mark whispered, his voice cracking.

He was kneading them now, a clinical fascination spiraling into something darker, more visceral. The cool air of the bathroom, the damp tile beneath his knees, the terrified euphoria on Jack’s face—it all narrowed to this single, impossible point of contact.

She moaned, a soft, broken sound, and arched her back, pushing her chest further into his hands. Her head fell back against the tile with a quiet thud.

“They’re real,” Mark mumbled, more to himself than to her. He was a programmer. He dealt in binaries, true or false. This was true. This flesh, this response, this was a database entry he could not delete. “How are they this real?”

“I don’t know,” she whimpered. Her hands left his chest and slid up his rigid arms, feeling the cords of muscle there before coming to rest on his broad shoulders. Her fingers dug in, pulling him closer. Her breath hitched. “But they are. I am. Please, Mark.”

The ‘please’ shattered the last of his cognitive process.

He stared at her face—the same sharp jawline, the same eyes he’d known for years, but now framed by this new reality. The trust in it was terrifying. The want was a landslide. He was hard, painfully so, and the shame of it was a distant, dull bell compared to the roaring need in his blood.

His right hand slid from her breast, down the terrifyingly narrow dip of her waist, over the dramatic flare of her hip. His palm cupped the full, round curve of her ass, the skin still slick from the shower. He pulled her forward, off the wall, his other arm wrapping around her back.

Their bodies slammed together.

The feeling was a cataclysm. The hard, unyielding planes of his stomach met the devastating softness of hers. Her breasts pressed against his ribcage. Her thighs, sleek and strong, parted against one of his.

She kissed him.

It wasn’t gentle. It was a collision of teeth and desperation, all wet heat and salt from her tears. Her tongue sought his, and he met it with a groan that vibrated through both of them. The towel fell away completely, forgotten on the damp floor.

He broke the kiss, breathing ragged, leaning his forehead against hers. Their breath mixed in the humid air.

“Jack,” he gasped, the name a question, a plea, an anchor.

“Don’t call me that,” she whispered against his lips. Her hips shifted, grinding against the hard bulge in his gym shorts, and a bolt of white-hot pleasure-pain shot through him. “Not right now. Just… don’t.”

He didn’t understand. He understood completely. Everything had been rewritten. The code had crashed, and this was the raw, glorious data dump.

He slid both hands down to her ass, his fingers sinking into the impossibly yielding flesh, and lifted. She was lighter than he expected. Her legs wrapped around his waist instinctively, her arms locking around his neck.

She buried her face in the crook of his sweating neck. “Your room,” she breathed, her voice muffled against his skin. “Now.”

He carried her out of the bathroom, a god carrying a secret into the dark.
