Chapter 18: Swati straddles Vishal's face

The silence that followed was different this time. It was not the silence of aftermath, but of suspended intention. The city’s glow through the windows of the penthouse had faded to the pale, pre-dawn grey that turns everything to ghosts. Our bodies were just shapes in the gloom, outlined in sweat and exhaustion.

Anupama lay where I had left her, her face buried in the mattress, shoulders trembling with silent, hitching breaths. The taste of me, of us, would be on her tongue. The smell of our sex was embedded in her nostrils. It was in the room like a third presence, thick and animal.

Vishal was a statue against the headboard, his eyes open but unseeing, fixed on some point beyond the ceiling. The man I married was in there somewhere, buried under layers of thrilling, terrible compliance. I could see the pulse hammering in his throat.

I stood up from the bed. My legs felt solid. The quiet hum of power was steadier than any orgasm. I walked to the en-suite bathroom, not bothering with a robe. The clinical white light was a shock. I saw myself in the full-length mirror: a woman flushed, hair wild, skin marked with faint red lines from grasping hands. A queen in her own empire of filth. I turned on the shower, the water drumming a loud, cleansing rhythm.

But cleansing wasn’t the point. Not yet.

“Both of you. In here.” My voice cut through the drumbeat.

I didn’t look to see if they obeyed. I stepped under the hot spray, letting it sluice over my head and shoulders. A moment later, the glass door opened. Vishal stepped in first, his movements sluggish. Anupama hovered at the threshold, a wraith on the tile.

“Get in,” I said, not turning. “You’re dripping on the floor.”

She slipped inside, pressing herself against the far wall of the large stall, as if the water itself could scorch her. Vishal stood under another showerhead, his head bowed. The water cascaded down the hard planes of his back, over the faint scratches my nails had left.

I took the liquid soap, lathered my hands. I turned to Vishal first. I washed his chest, his arms, my hands moving with a proprietor’s thoroughness. He stood passively, his eyes closed. When I moved lower, soaping his flaccid cock and balls, he flinched, but didn’t pull away. I rinsed him, my touch impersonal, as if grooming a prize animal.

Then I turned to Anupama.

She shrank back, but there was nowhere to go. “Look at you,” I murmured, the water spraying between us. “Still covered in him. In me.” I poured soap into my palm. “Turn around.”

She hesitated, her eyes darting to Vishal, who watched now, a dark, interested look returning to his gaze. The sight of his attention, however complicit, seemed to break her last resistance. She turned, presenting her back to me.

I started at her shoulders, working the lather down her spine. My hands were not gentle. They kneaded, they scrubbed. When I reached the swell of her ass, I soaped the cheek that still bore the faint outline of my hand. I slipped a hand between her legs from behind, cupping her roughly. She gasped, her hands flying to the wet tiles for support.

“Open,” I commanded, and my soap-slick fingers pushed into her. She was loose, used, impossibly sensitive. A sharp cry tore from her throat. I worked my fingers inside her, scissoring them, cleaning out the remnants of Vishal’s come. “This cunt isn’t yours anymore,” I said, my voice low in her ear over the sound of the water. “It’s a community utility. Remember that.”

I pulled my fingers out, rinsed them under the spray, then turned her around. I washed her small breasts, her flat stomach. I made her lift each foot so I could wash her legs. She was pliant, a doll in my hands. When I was done, I turned off the water.

“Dry him,” I said, handing her a large, fluffy towel.

She took it, her movements automated. She patted Vishal’s chest, his arms, kneeling to dry his legs. When she faced his groin, she paused, the towel hovering.

“Do it,” Vishal said, his voice a low rasp. The first words he’d spoken in an age.

She wrapped the towel around him, drying him with a strange, reverent care. I dried myself, watching. The dynamic was crystallizing. I was the director. He was the lead. She was the stagehand, the prop, the servant.

Wrapped in towels, we moved back into the bedroom. The air was cool. The rumpled, stained sheets were a brutal testament to the night. Dawn was proper now, a weak, grey light leaching the color from the room.

“I’m going to make coffee,” I said, my tone ordinary, domestic. “Vishal, come to the kitchen when you’re dressed. Anupama, strip the bed. Put the sheets in the wash. Then clean this room. I want every surface wiped. Every trace.”

I walked out, leaving them there. In the pristine, sunlit kitchen, I ground beans, my movements precise. I could hear the faint sounds from the bedroom: the rasp of fabric, the quiet thump of pillows. Normal sounds. The sounds of morning-after.

Vishal came in first, dressed in simple jeans and a t-shirt. He looked like my husband again, except for the shadows under his eyes and a new, watchful stillness in his demeanor. He took the mug I offered.

“She’s still here,” he said, not a question.

“She’s cleaning.”

“And then?”

“And then she’ll go home to Rohit.” I sipped my coffee, meeting his gaze. “And she’ll come back when we tell her to.”

He was silent for a long moment, absorbing it. “Swati… what are we doing?”

“We’re not doing anything,” I corrected softly. “I am. You are following. And you love it.” I reached out, ran a finger down the front of his jeans. He was half-hard already. “See? Your body knows the truth. Your mind will catch up.”

We heard her then, a timid shuffle in the hallway. She was dressed in yesterday’s clothes, which hung on her, rumpled. She looked impossibly small. Her eyes were red-raw.

“The room is done,” she whispered, her voice shot.

“Good.” I put my cup down. “Come here.”

She took a few steps into the kitchen. I closed the distance. I took her chin in my hand, forcing her to look at me. The defeat in her eyes was total, beautiful.

“You will not speak of this,” I said, my voice lethally calm. “Not a word. Not a hint. You will go home. You will fuck your husband if he wants it, and you will think of us. You will look at your ceiling and remember what it feels like to be full. Of him. Of my taste. You will live with the emptiness until we choose to fill it again. Do you understand?”

A tear escaped, tracing a clean path through her exhaustion. “Ha,” she breathed. Yes.

I released her. “Get out.”

She turned and walked to the front door. She didn’t look back. The soft click of the latch was the period at the end of the night’s sentence.

Vishal let out a long, shaky breath. “Jesus.”

I moved to him, slid my hands under his t-shirt, feeling the warm, solid flesh of his stomach. “You’re not sorry.”

“I should be.”

“But you’re not. You’re hard again.” My hand found the proof, pressed against it through the denim. “Your guilt is just another spice. It makes it hotter, doesn’t it? The good husband, corrupted.”

He didn’t deny it. He kissed me, a deep, searching, possessive kiss. It tasted like coffee and complicity. When he pulled back, his eyes were blazing. “What now?”

I led him by the hand, not back to the defiled master bedroom, but down the hall to the second bedroom, his old study, now a spare room. It was simpler, quieter. The bed was neatly made, a soft, cream-colored comforter under a wall of framed photographs of us hiking, smiling, a lifetime of normalcy.

I pushed him onto the bed. “Now,” I said, pulling my robe open, letting it fall, “we reclaim you. We wash her off you for good.”

But the reclamation had a different taste. As I climbed over him, guiding him inside me with a slow, determined sigh, I could still smell her on my skin, in my hair. The photos on the wall bore witness as I rode him, my movements fierce, claiming. He gripped my hips, his eyes locked on mine, and I knew he was seeing her desperation, feeling the ghost of her submission beneath my ownership.

When he came, it was with my hand over his mouth, stifling his cry, making it a private, stolen thing between husband and wife. We lay together afterwards, the morning sun painting bright rectangles on the comforter.

“She’ll be back,” he said into my hair, a statement of fact.

“Yes,” I said. “She will.”

And I smiled at the ceiling, at the happy, frozen faces in the frames. The game had not just changed. It had become the air we breathed. And I had never felt more alive.
