Chapter 1: Introduction
The neon lights of The Tipsy Tiger flickered against the damp streets outside, casting a warm, inviting glow within the bar. The air was thick with the scent of cheap whiskey and the hum of hushed conversations. It was a typical Thursday night, and the place was already packed with the usual crowd: suits fresh off work, college kids looking for a cheap drink, and the occasional lone wolf nursing a beer in the corner. Tonight, though, there was something different. Something—or rather someone—that caught my eye as I sipped my lukewarm beer.
I was Steve, an average guy with an average job and an average life.
I hadn't meant to come here tonight, but after a long day at work, I found myself drawn to the familiar comfort of this dimly lit space. I was tucked away in a booth near the back, nursing my drink and trying to blend into the background, like I always did.
But tonight, I couldn't help but notice him. He was sitting at the bar, a tall glass of something amber and strong in front of him, his back toward me but his presence impossible to ignore. There was something about his posture, the way he leaned against the bar, one elbow propped up, that demanded attention.
He was of average height, but his broad shoulders and the rounded curve of his back made him stand out. Even from where I sat, I could see the way his short, light brown curly hair caught the light, shimmering like a halo around his head. And then there was his butt. Good lord, his butt. It was... prominent. A perfect, round bubble of a thing that made him stand out even in a crowded bar like this. He was dressed in tight jeans that seemed to hug him in all the right places, accentuating every curve and line of his body.
But as he shifted on his stool, I realized they weren't jeans at all. They were tan khakis, so tight and fitted that they looked like they had been painted on. Each cheek stuck out, round and firm, a perfect pair of orbs that drew my eyes like a magnet. I couldn't help but stare, my drink forgotten in my hand.
The sight of him was almost hypnotic, and I found myself standing up, drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Before I could talk myself out of it, I was making my way through the crowd, each step bringing me closer to the striking figure at the bar. I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, a mixture of embarrassment and arousal. This wasn't like me at all. I was Steve, the invisible guy, the one who blended into the background. But tonight, something felt different.
As I drew closer to the bar, I could see him more clearly now, his eyes scanning the room, taking in the crowd with an air of confidence that was both attractive and intimidating. He was talking to the bartender, laughing at something he said, his head thrown back, revealing a strong, stubbled jawline. As I reached the bar, he turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on me. I faltered, my steps suddenly unsure, but I forced myself to keep moving, to not lose momentum.
I stumbled over my own feet, my face flushing a deep shade of red as I finally reached him. "Hi," I managed to get out, my voice barely audible over the din of the bar. I cleared my throat, trying to find my courage again. "I, uh, I'm Steve."
He turned to look at me fully now, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Hi," he said, raising an eyebrow. "What can I do for you? Looking for something?"
My face felt like it was on fire, and I could feel the heat spreading down my neck. I swallowed hard, trying to find the words. "I-I just thought I'd introduce myself," I stammered. "I'm Steve."
He took a sip of his drink, his eyes never leaving mine. "Well, Steve," he said, setting his glass down. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Luke."
I hesitated, unsure of what to say next. The silence stretched out between us, uncomfortable and heavy. I fidgeted with my drink, my hands suddenly clammy.
Luke seemed to sense my discomfort, and he leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a low rumble.
"Look, Steve," he said, glancing over my shoulder. "I appreciate the introduction, but I think you'll find I'm not the only one interested in... introducing myself tonight." He nodded subtly, and I turned to see a group of men gathered nearby, their eyes on Luke, not bothering to hide their interest. I felt a pang of disappointment, but I understood. Luke was not interested in me. He was the center of attention, the object of desire for many in the bar tonight.
I swallowed hard, trying to ignore the sting of rejection. "Yeah, of course," I mumbled, turning back to him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I just... I thought you looked interesting." I felt myself cringing at my own words, but Luke just smiled, his eyes softening slightly.
"Sorry, Steve," he said, his voice without malice. "With this ass, guys like you come up to me all the time. I try to be nice, but it's literally all the time."
I couldn't help but laugh, the tension breaking as I finally saw the humor in the situation. "I can only imagine," I said, shaking my head. "Look, I'm sorry if I came on too strong. I couldn't help but notice you."
Luke raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "Noticed what, exactly? The butt or the man?"
I felt my cheeks flush again, but this time it was with amusement. "Both," I admitted. "Both are... impressive."
Luke chuckled, leaning back against the bar.
"Well, Steve, it's been a pleasure, but I think I see someone I need to talk to." He turned his attention to a tall, dark-haired man who had just entered the bar, his eyes scanning the room before landing on Luke. The man's face broke into a smile, and he made his way towards us. Luke's body language shifted subtly, his posture opening up, his smile widening as the man approached.
Steve felt a pang of disappointment, but he quickly pushed it aside. This was who Luke was, after all. The center of attention, the object of desire for many. He couldn't blame him for being interested in someone new. "Of course," Steve said, stepping back to give them space. "I'll leave you to it."
Luke gave him a quick nod, already distracted by the newcomer. "Thanks, Steve.
It was nice meeting you," Luke said, his attention already drawn to the newcomer. Before I could fully step back, the man approached, extending his hand to Luke. Luke took it, a smile spreading across his face. Without a word, they turned towards the small dance floor crowded with patrons swaying to the slow, sultry beat of the jukebox. I watched as they found a spot, Luke's hand resting on the small of the man's back, their bodies already moving in sync. The newcomer seemed to have the same effect on Luke as he had on me, his confidence and charm immediate and infectious. I shook my head, a wry smile playing on my lips as I made my way back to my booth.
I slumped into my seat, nursing my drink as I watched them from across the room.
Luke and the newcomer were already engrossed in conversation, their bodies pressed close together as they swayed to the music. Luke leaned in, his lips brushing against the man’s ear, and I saw the newcomer’s face light up with a smile. Whatever Luke had whispered seemed to have hit the mark. I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy, wishing I could be the one to make him smile like that.
But as I took a sip of my drink, I realized that Luke and I were different people, with different needs and desires. He was clearly comfortable in his own skin, confident in his ability to draw people in. Me? I was still trying to figure out who I was, what I wanted. I wasn’t like Luke, and that was okay. It didn’t make me any less worthy of attention or affection.
I was still me, regardless of whether someone like Luke noticed me or not.
As I sipped my drink, I noticed the newcomer's hand slide down Luke’s back, resting briefly on the curve of his hip before venturing lower, to grasp Luke's huge, bubble butt. The sight sent a jolt through me, unexpected and intense. It was a bold move, one that left no doubt about the newcomer’s intentions. Luke didn’t seem to mind, though. In fact, he seemed to enjoy it, his head tilting back in a low, throaty laugh as the newcomer pulled him closer. Their lips met, and I watched as they lost themselves in the kiss, their bodies pressed tightly together, moving slowly to the rhythm of the music.
It was a sight that both aroused and frustrated me, a stark reminder of what I wanted but couldn't have. With a deep sigh, I decided it was time to leave. I couldn't keep watching Luke and the newcomer, not if I wanted to maintain my sanity. I pulled out my wallet, tossing a few bills onto the table to cover my drink and a tip for the discouraged-looking waitress who had been trying to catch my eye all night. I made my way through the crowd, my eyes scanning the room one last time before I pushed my way through the heavy wooden door and stepped out into the cool night air.
The chill was a shock to my system after the warmth of the bar, and I took a deep breath, letting the crisp air clear my head.
