Chapter 1: The Dinner Invitation
The restaurant's back booth was draped in faded velvet, the kind of crimson that had seen better decades. Years of spilled wine and forgotten kisses had stained the fabric into something darker, richer, like dried blood under dim light. The air hung heavy with garlic and basil, but beneath it all, something sweeter lingered. Something electric.
Mallory slid into the booth across from me, and every thought I'd rehearsed on the drive over evaporated like steam off hot pavement.
Her dress was red. Low-cut didn't even begin to cover it. The fabric clung to her like it had been painted on by an artist who knew exactly what they were doing, and the neckline plunged deep enough that I could see the upper swell of her breasts, dusky olive skin glowing under the amber pendant lights. Her curly brown hair tumbled past her shoulders, and those brown eyes locked onto mine with the precision of a sniper.
"Evan." She said my name like it was a verdict.
"Mallory." I tried to match her energy, but my voice cracked on the second syllable.
The corner of her mouth twitched. She knew. She absolutely knew what she was doing to me.
"How was the rest of your week?" She reached for the wine list without breaking eye contact. "After our... session."
I swallowed hard. The word hung between us, dripping with double meaning. The late-night work session she was referring to had ended with me blurting out "you're such a MILF" while she was explaining quarterly projections. She'd laughed. I'd wanted to die. Then I'd spent the next forty-eight hours replaying the moment, half-horrified and half-aroused, jerking off to the memory of her smile curling when she realized I meant it.
"Fine," I managed. "Quiet. Lots of spreadsheets."
"Spreadsheets." She humored me, her fingers tracing the wine list's edge. "Sounds thrilling."
"Thrilling is one word for it."
The waiter appeared, and Mallory ordered a bottle of something Italian that I'd never heard of but pretended to recognize. When he left, she leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. The movement pushed her breasts together, and I felt my mouth go dry.
"You know why I asked you here, right?"
I shook my head, though I had a thousand theories. Ranging from "she wants to file an HR complaint" to "she wants to ride me like a mechanical bull." Both scenarios had visited my dreams.
"Because you made me laugh." She tilted her head, studying me. "And because I wanted to see if you'd actually show up."
"Did you think I wouldn't?"
"I thought you might be scared."
"I am scared." The admission slipped out before I could stop it. "Terrified, actually."
Her smile widened, slow and dangerous. "Good."
The wine arrived. She tasted it, nodded, and let the waiter fill our glasses. I watched her throat move as she swallowed, the way her fingers curled around the stem of the glass, the flash of gold at her wrist—a bracelet I hadn't noticed before.
"Brian's out of town," she said casually, setting the glass down. "Two weeks in Singapore."
My heart slammed against my ribs. "That's... long."
"Long enough." Her foot brushed my ankle under the table. I nearly jumped out of my skin. "To get lonely, I mean."
"Is that what you are? Lonely?"
She didn't answer. Instead, she reached for the menu, but her eyes never left mine. "Order something. You'll need your strength."
I didn't ask what she meant by that. I was afraid she might actually tell me.
We ate. Pasta for her, something with too much garlic for me, and conversation that danced around the elephant in the booth. She asked about my job, my apartment, whether I'd been seeing anyone. I stumbled through answers, acutely aware of how her leg would occasionally brush against mine, how she'd let her hand rest on the table just close enough that I could feel her heat.
"You're nervous," she observed, twirling pasta around her fork.
"Observant."
"You're also cute when you're nervous." She took a bite, chewing slowly, deliberately. "But I have to admit, I'm curious about what you're like when you're not."
My throat tightened. "I don't know if I have a 'not nervous' mode around you."
She laughed—a real laugh, not the polite one she used at work. It transformed her face, softened the sharp edges of her beauty into something almost approachable. "I like that. Honesty."
"It's a curse."
"It's refreshing." She set her fork down and reached for her wine. "Most men my age are full of shit. They're so busy trying to impress me that they forget to be real."
"And younger men?"
Her eyes glittered. "Younger men are usually too busy staring at my chest to say anything at all."
I felt heat rise to my cheeks. She'd caught me. Of course she'd caught me. I'd been stealing glances at her cleavage all night like a teenager with his first nudie magazine.
"The difference," she continued, "is that you're staring, but you're also talking. You see me. Not just the dress."
"To be fair, the dress is pretty memorable."
"It's not the dress you'll remember." She leaned forward, and her foot traced up my calf. "It's what I'm going to do to you."
The words hit me like a shot of whiskey—warm, burning, spreading through my chest. I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out. She smiled, satisfied, and returned to her pasta.
Dessert came. Tiramisu, which we shared, our forks occasionally clinking against each other's. Her fingers brushed mine when she reached for the same bite, and neither of us pulled back. The contact was small, barely anything, but it felt like a promise.
"Ready?" she asked, setting her fork down.
"For what?"
"To get out of here."
My pulse hammered. "Yeah. Sure. I mean, wherever."
She slid out of the booth, smoothing her dress over her hips, and I caught a flash of thigh that made my brain short-circuit. She grabbed her purse, tossed a few bills on the table, and turned to me with that same dangerous smile.
"Come on, Evan. I'll drive."
The night air hit me like a wall, humid and thick with the promise of summer. Her car was a sleek black sedan, and she unlocked it with a beep, sliding into the driver's seat with practiced grace. I climbed in beside her, the leather cool against my back, my hands suddenly unsure where to go.
She didn't start the engine. Instead, she turned to face me, her eyes scanning my face in the dim dashboard light.
"You really are terrified, aren't you?"
"Should I not be?"
"No," she said softly. "You really shouldn't."
Then she leaned across the console, and her hand landed on my thigh. Through the denim of my jeans, I could feel the warmth of her palm, the slight pressure of her fingers. She squeezed, and I exhaled a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding.
"Take me home," she whispered.
"I don't know where you—"
"Not my home." Her hand inched higher. "Yours."
The drive was a blur of streetlights and stop signs. I gave her directions in a voice that kept cracking, and she followed them with unnerving calm, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on my leg the entire time. By the time we pulled into my apartment complex, I was painfully hard, straining against my jeans with an urgency that felt almost adolescent.
She parked. Cut the engine. Turned to me.
"Nice place," she observed, eyeing the brick building.
"It's, uh, it's a mess. I didn't—"
"Evan." She cut me off, her voice dropping. "I don't care about your apartment."
She unbuckled her seatbelt, then reached over and unbuckled mine. The click of the latch sounded obscenely loud in the silence. Her hands moved to my belt, and suddenly I couldn't breathe.
"Is this okay?" she asked, her fingers pausing at the buckle.
"Yes." The word came out strangled. "God, yes."
She unbuckled my belt with a smooth click, then the button of my jeans, then the zipper—slow, deliberate, drawing out every second. My cock strained against my boxers, and when she hooked her fingers into the waistband and pulled them down, the cool air hit me like a shock.
Mallory didn't gasp. She just looked. Her eyes took me in with clinical appreciation, and then her hand wrapped around me, and I nearly came right there.
She measured me with practiced fingers, stroking from base to tip, and the size of her hand against me sent a jolt through my entire body. She held me firmly, her grip confident, and I could feel myself throbbing against her palm, hot and hard and aching. Her thumb traced a slow circle around the head, and I bit my lip hard enough to taste copper.
"Look at you," she murmured, more to herself than to me. "Brian's been a lifetime of average. This is..." She squeezed, and I hissed through my teeth. "This is different."
Her hand slid down, and she gripped me at the base, her fingers barely meeting. The girth was substantial—she had to stretch her hand to accommodate it—and I saw a flash of genuine surprise in her eyes before it settled into something hungrier. She stroked upward, and I could feel every ridge, every vein, each throb of blood in the tight, sensitive flesh. She was a sculpture in her palm, and she knew it.
"Jesus, Mallory."
"Shhh." She placed a finger to my lips, then replaced it with her lips, kissing me hard enough to steal my thoughts. When she pulled back, her eyes were dark. "You're going to be loud. That's fine. But not until we're inside."
She gave me one final stroke before tucking me back into my jeans with infuriating gentleness. "You were supposed to take me home," I reminded her, my voice hoarse.
"I'm taking you to yours. There's a difference." She opened her door and stepped out, smoothing her dress as she stood. "But first, you're going to take me upstairs and fuck me like I haven't been fucked in years."
I scrambled out of the car, nearly tripping over my own feet. She was already waiting on the sidewalk, her silhouette backlit by the streetlight, one hip cocked, a smile on her lips.
"Coming?"
I followed her inside, my keys shaking in my hand.
I followed her inside, my keys shaking in my hand.
The hallway stretched before us, dim and narrow, smelling of stale pizza and someone's laundry detergent. Mallory walked ahead of me with the unhurried confidence of a woman who knew exactly where she was going, her hips swaying in that red dress like a metronome counting down to something inevitable.
I fumbled with the keys, dropping them once, twice, the metal clattering against the scuffed floorboards. My fingers felt useless, thick and clumsy, like they belonged to someone else entirely.
"Need a hand?" Her voice floated back to me, amused.
"I've got it. I've got it." I scooped them up, jammed the first key into the lock. Wrong one. Tried another. The lock resisted.
"You're adorable when you're flustered." Her voice came from right behind me now, close enough that I could feel the warmth of her breath on the back of my neck.
I finally found the right key, but before I could turn it, her hands settled on my hips. Then her lips brushed my ear, soft and deliberate, and every nerve in my body fired at once.
"Take your time," she whispered, her breath hot against my skin. "I'm not going anywhere."
Her hand slid down the front of my jeans, palm pressing against the hard length of me straining against the denim. Even through the fabric, her touch sent a shockwave through my system. I gripped the doorknob like it was the only thing keeping me upright.
She stroked me slowly, deliberately, tracing the outline of my cock through my pants with expert pressure. My breath caught in my throat as she applied just enough friction to make me ache, then backed off, teasing.
"Jesus," I breathed.
"Not quite." Her teeth grazed my earlobe, and I shuddered. "But close."
I finally managed to turn the key. The door swung open, and I stumbled inside, hitting the light switch out of pure muscle memory. The living room flooded with warm yellow light, revealing the disaster I'd left that morning—empty beer bottles on the coffee table, a pile of laundry on the armchair, dishes stacked in the sink visible through the kitchen doorway.
"Sorry about the mess," I started, but she was already shutting the door behind us, locking it with a decisive click.
"I didn't come here to critique your housekeeping."
She turned to face me, and in the brighter light of my apartment, I saw her fully for the first time that night. The red dress hugged every curve, the neckline plunging deep between her breasts, the fabric clinging to her hips like it had been sewn on. Her curly hair fell in waves past her shoulders, and those brown eyes held something hungry, something that made my heart hammer against my ribs.
"You're staring again," she observed.
"Can you blame me?"
"No." She stepped closer, close enough that I could smell her perfume—something floral with a hint of spice, intoxicating and warm. "I'd be disappointed if you weren't."
Her hands found my chest, fingers splaying against the thin cotton of my shirt. She pushed gently, and I stumbled backward until my calves hit the edge of the couch. She followed, pressing her body against mine, and I felt the soft curve of her stomach against the hard line of my erection.
"I've been thinking about this since the office," she admitted, her voice low and rough. "Since you called me a MILF with those big, earnest eyes, like you couldn't believe the words had come out of your mouth."
"I couldn't," I confessed. "I wanted to crawl under my desk and die."
"I'm glad you didn't." Her fingers worked the buttons of my shirt, slow and methodical. "Because I couldn't stop thinking about what else that mouth of yours might be good at."
The shirt fell open, and her hands slid across my chest, nails raking lightly through the sparse hair there. I shivered under her touch, my skin hypersensitive, every brush of her fingers sending sparks down my spine.
"Nice," she murmured, appreciative. "You work out?"
"Occasionally. When the mood strikes."
"The mood has struck me." She looked up at me through her lashes, a smirk playing on her lips. "And I intend to make the most of it."
She pushed me down onto the couch, and I landed with a soft thud, looking up at her as she stood over me, backlit by the lamp behind her. She looked like something out of a dream—all curves and shadows and dangerous intentions.
"Now," she said, reaching behind her back, "let me show you what a MILF can do."
