Chapter 1: Opening Image

The room was bustling with the sounds of fingers typing and heads chattering. It was just like any other day in the office for Arjun Sharma. A tall wooden clock quietly ticked away the seconds on the wall, its gold painted numbers gleaming in the mid-morning sun. Dust particles floated in the light, hanging there like tiny disco balls. The smell of yesterday's curry wafted through the stuffy air as Arjun's stomach quietly growled—not that he could slip out for a break right now, though.

Not with this project looming over his head. Framed certificates lined the walls, proclaiming Arjun's achievements in bold black letters.

On the opposite side of his desk sat his secretary, Tara. With her glasses perched on the tip of her nose and her hair twisted up into a messy bun, she looked every bit the focused career woman. She typed away furiously at her computer, fingers dancing gracefully over the keys as she entered line after line of data with practiced ease.

Just then, the intercom on his desk buzzed, pulling him from his thoughts.

"Sir, the Chief Minister's office just called. They're expecting your report on the housing project by end of day," Tara's voice crackled through the intercom. Arjun sighed, running a hand through his thinning hair. Rana, the corrupt politician, was always breathing down his neck, demanding results but never giving him the resources to actually do his job.

But Arjun wasn't one to back down from a challenge. He cracked his knuckles and dove back into his work, mug of chai forgotten on his desk.

The words blurred together as his eyes scanned page after page of statistics and figures. But he couldn't let himself get distracted or disheartened. Not now.

Arjun believed in the power of the truth, in the strength of doing the right thing, even if it meant going up against the likes of Rana and his cronies. Corruption was an ever-present demon in the halls of government offices, threatening to swallow up honest men like Arjun whole. But still, he refused to be consumed.
