Chapter 1: Building Tension
Jolissa marched into the dimly lit cave, armor clanking against the ground that was covered by a field of tickle feathers. They danced and swirled around her, ready to play their tricks. Annoying fuckers, Jolissa thought as she inched further into the cave.
A tickling sensation brushing up against her armpit caught her off guard, and she had to stifle a giggle. She cursed inwardly. How cliché, wanting to tickle her of all people.
Jolissa wasn't just any woman, she was a knight, chosen by the goddess of strength herself. She'd been through much worse than these pests.
As she continued deeper, she heard laughter echoing off the cave walls. The sound of it made her teeth grit, she hated the sound of laughter. It reminded her of her time in the orphanage, those kids laughing while they picked on her foot tickling her until she couldn't take it anymore.
The memory still haunted her, but she shook it off. Not now.
She had a job to do. And these tickle monsters were in the way. Jolissa came across a peculiar formation on the cave wall that resembled cotton candy stalactites. It was almost too pretty to disturb. Almost. Upon closer inspection, she discovered an ancient scroll tucked into a crevice.
Jolissa unrolled the scroll, revealing its delicate, weathered surface. The ink had faded over time, but she could still make out the lines of the parchment that spoke of creatures born from the laughter of the gods.
"Tickle Monsters," she mumbled to herself, amused by the absurdity of it.
A gust of wind blew from behind, and she felt a tickly sensation sweep across her bare feet. Instinctively, she lifted them off the ground and let out a giggle, the ticklishness overwhelming her for a moment. She regained her composure and continued to read.
The scroll described how these creatures had been terrorizing travelers who passed through their territory, using their powerful tickling abilities to drive them insane. Jolissa couldn't believe her eyes.
These creatures, these Tickle Monsters, had been plaguing travelers with tickling attacks and making them mad with laughter. She couldn't let them continue this behavior. She made a mental note to herself to teach them a lesson, one that they would never forget.
She looked around the cave, her piercing blue eyes adjusting to the dim light. She noticed the stalactites above, made of cotton candy, glistening in the soft glow. They were so pretty, but she knew better than to let that fool her.
Jolissa knew all too well that appearances could be deceiving. She had faced monsters that were much more frightening than these tickling, laughing creatures.
With a wide, determined strut, she moved forward. A tickle feather swirled around her armpit, but she shooed it away like an annoying insect. She couldn't let them get the best of her.
Jolissa heard a faint giggling sound up ahead, and she knew she was getting closer to her prey.
