Chapter 1: Introduction
The prince looked up at the impossibly tall tower standing alone in the middle of a thicket of thorns. This was where she lived, this Rapunzel, hidden away from the world by an evil witch. He'd tried to find her, climbed almost every tower he'd passed on his journeys for months, until the day he heard whispers of her magic hair. It shimmered under the moonlight, they said. A ladder of gold extending from Rapunzel's window, if one dared to believe such a fairy tale.
Yet, as he looked upon the strands cascading down the side of the tower, a shiver of enchantment and anticipation coursed through him.
Taking a deep breath, he began his climb. With each tug on the silken ladder, the more alive he felt. Every soft tendril caressed his skin, urging him upwards. Each brush against the cool air invigorated him as he scaled towards the unknown, fueled by the knowledge that Rapunzel waited for him.
The climb proved strenuous, but an inner core of determination kept him going.
