Chapter 6: The Deep Stranding
Raeligh's heart drummed in her chest as her limbs strained against the suffocating grasp of the Martyrian's twisted tentacles. With a herculean effort, she wrenched her arm free, grappling in vain for anything solid to cling to as she was jerked along like cattle towards the dungeon's inner sanctum.
Her lungs ached, deprived of oxygen, her vision grew blurry, and her mind hazy.
Tentacles dragged her deeper into the dungeon, each one wrapping around her limbs, constricting and pulling. She kicked and screamed, but it was like trying to fight a hydra. For every tentacle she managed to pry off, another two took its place.
The dungeon was dark, save for the flickering light of torches that lined the walls. It was damp, the smell of mold and rot heavy in the air. She could hear the drip of water echoing through the chamber, and the distant sound of something that sounded almost like a heartbeat.
Raeligh's eyes widened as she realized where she was being taken. The legends were true. The Martyrian was real, and it had her in its grasp.
The creature's lair was a sight to behold.
The tentacles dragged her even deeper, through dark hallways and rooms, as she screamed for help for someone to hear her agonizing scream. But deep down, she knew nobody could hear her. The walls were made of solid stone, and the only sound that echoed through the castle was her own panicked breathing.
The dungeon was a labyrinth of despair, with damp walls and a floor that seemed to breathe with the creature's life force. The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the darkness was suffocating.
Raeligh's heart raced as she tried to free herself from the tentacles' grip, but it was like trying to escape a net made of steel. She struggled and thrashed, her armor clinking and clattering against the stone floor. But it was no use. The creature was too strong.
