Chapter 1: Chapter 1

The wind howled outside. Irelynn's shack of a store shook slightly, it's loose wood boards doing little to shield the elements. The store was in disrepair, settled in the desert on the side of a dirt road. It's only redeemable quality was its microscopic rent. Inside, it's walls were covered with different tchotchkes that she collected over the years. Wind chimes, crystals, tarot decks; everything was for sale, all she needed was a customer. On the desk was a large notebook, a procedural manual of the different services she was honing to drum up business. If hand-made dream catchers weren't going to generate revenue, perhaps a reiki session would. All she knew was that she needed a lifeline, anything to keep her dream alive.

Outside, Irelynn heard the slam of a car door. She peered up from her accounting books. In walked Derek, a disheveled man with deep bags under his eyes and a pleading look on his face. His aura had a similar vibration of desperation to hers, and it seemed as though the universe brought these two souls together for a reason. "I need your help, I'm desperate," he said, voice cracking. "I've tried everything, I can't sleep."
