Chapter 1: Introduction
Emily floated around her kitchen like a serene bird gliding gracefully above a tranquil lake. The gentle clatter of pots and pans provided soothing background music as she prepared dinner for her family. Her movements were fluid and effortless, a testament to years of practice perfecting the art of homemaking. As she moved about her pristine haven, her long brown hair swayed gently behind her like a veil dancing in the soft breeze.
Sunlight poured through the bay window, casting an ethereal glow upon the white cupboards that glistened beneath its warm embrace. The scent of freshly baked cookies wafted from the oven, teasing her nose with its delicious aroma. Emily couldn't help but feel content as she hummed to herself, rolling out pie dough on the smooth, cool surface of the countertop.
Tom arrived home from work just as Emily was placing the finishing touches on their evening meal.
She greeted him with a smile and a kiss on the cheek before serving him his plate. He looked up at her with a satisfied grin and complimented her cooking skills. "This looks absolutely delicious, darling," he said, taking a bite of his food. Emily blushed with pride, pleased that her hard work had paid off.
As they sat down to eat, Tom began discussing his day at work. Emily listened intently, nodding along as he spoke.
Though she knew most of what he discussed already, hearing it straight from his mouth gave her a sense of satisfaction - proof positive that she was doing her duty as a wife well. After finishing his meal, Tom thanked her profusely before retiring to the living room to watch television. Emily cleaned up the kitchen, humming quietly to herself as she worked.
