Chapter 1: Bushveld Heat
The air in the bush was cool and clean, scented with eucalyptus and damp earth. It pressed against the bubble of steam rising from the hot tub, a private oasis lit only by a single string of lanterns and the immense, star-drenched sky. Brandon leaned back, the hot water soothing his muscles, his arm draped around Gabby’s shoulders. She nestled into him, her blonde hair dark and wet at the ends.“This never gets old,” she murmured, tipping her head back to look at the stars.
“It would if we were alone,” Brandon said, a grin in his voice. He squeezed her shoulder and looked across the tub at Dylan and Savannah. Their friends were a comfortable silhouette against the rustling trees. “But these two are alright, I guess.”
Dylan chuckled, lifting his glass of spiked lemonade. “You just keep us around for my superior cocktail skills.”
“And my sparkling conversation,” Savannah added, stretching her toned arms along the rim. The water made her skin glisten.“Admit it, Brand. You’d be bored without us.”
“Less bored, maybe. Less entertained, definitely.” Brandon’s hand slid under the water, finding Gabby’s thigh. He gave it a playful squeeze. She pinched his side in response, but she was smiling. The conversation drifted, lazy and familiar. They’d been friends for years, the four of them. The kind of friends where silence was comfortable and laughter came easy. The lemonade pitcher emptied, replaced by another. The laughter got louder, the silences more charged.
Brandon watched a droplet of water trace a path from Savannah’s collarbone into the shadow between her breasts. He felt Gabby watching him watch. He turned his head, meeting her eyes. Her gaze was questioning, but not accusing.A little thrill, hot as the tub water, shot through him.
“We should play a game,” Brandon announced, his voice cutting through the night birds’ rhythmic calls.
“What kind of game?” Dylan asked, already amiable.
“Strip poker.”
A beat of silence. Then Gabby let out a soft, surprised laugh.“Here? Now?”
“Why not? It’s not like anyone’s going to hike two kilometers through the dark to peek at us.” Brandon’s tone was light, mischievous. He felt Gabby’s body tense, then relax.Curiosity was winning.Savannah’s eyes lit up. “Dealer’s choice?” she asked, a challenge in her voice.
“Absolutely.”
They climbed out, the cooler night air raising goosebumps on their wet skin.Dylan fetched a worn deck of cards from their cabin. They sat on the rough-hewn wooden decking, towels wrapped around them, the steaming tub gurgling beside them. The game started silly, full of exaggerated gestures and bluffing. The first few items—a sock, a watch, a hair tie—were forfeited with dramatic sighs. But the mood shifted as the layers dwindled. The stakes felt higher, the glances longer.
Brandon lost a hand deliberately, shrugging off his trunks. He sat back, unabashed. Gabby’s eyes swept over him, her lips parted. She lost the next round, her fingers hesitating at the knot of her bikini top before letting it fall. The sight of her, pale and beautiful in the lantern light, stole his breath for a second.
Savannah was next, her top joining the pile. She didn’t hesitate, arching her back slightly as she tossed it aside. Dylan, ever the supportive husband, whistled softly, his gaze full of open admiration.
The cards became an afterthought. The real game was in the shared glances, the quickened breaths.
It was Gabby who finally broke the last pretense. She looked at Savannah, not at Brandon. “I’m out of clothes,” she said, her voice a low hum. “But I have a question for you, Sav.”
“Yeah?” Savannah’s voice was just as low.
“Truth or dare?”
Savannah’s sultry smile widened.“Dare. Always dare.”
Gabby took a slow sip of her drink, her eyes never leaving Savannah’s. “I dare you to get back in the tub with me. And lose the rest.”
The challenge hung in the steam-filled air.Brandon held his breath.Dylan went very still.
Savannah stood, a goddess carved from moonlight and confidence. She untied her bikini bottoms and let them drop. Then she offered a hand to Gabby. “Only if you come with me.”
They stepped into the bubbling water, a cascade of long limbs and whispered laughter. Brandon and Dylan followed, their own remaining clothes abandoned on the deck. The water was suddenly alive, a slick, heated space where every accidental touch sparked.
Brandon watched, his heart hammering against his ribs. Gabby and Savannah were facing each other, only inches apart.Savannah reached out, tucked a wet strand of hair behind Gabby’s ear. Her touch lingered. Gabby’s eyes fluttered closed for a second, then opened, dark with desire. When they kissed, it was deep and slow, not a performance but an exploration. Gabby’s hands came up to cradle Savannah’s face, then slid down her slick back. Savannah murmured something into Gabby’s mouth, a low, approving sound that was lost in the rush of the geyser-heated water.Brandon moved closer, drawn like a magnet. He ran a hand down Gabby’s spine, feeling her shudder. She broke the kiss with Savannah, her head falling back against his shoulder, her eyes seeking his.“Okay?” she breathed.
“More than okay,” he whispered back, his voice rough.
He watched as Savannah’s mouth trailed down Gabby’s neck, her shoulder. Gabby’s fingers twisted in Savannah’s blonde hair, guiding her, encouraging her. The sounds were intimate, raw—soft gasps, the wet slide of skin on skin, the ragged pull of breath.
Savannah shifted, straddling Gabby’s lap in the buoyant water, their bodies pressed flush together, kissing again, deeper, hungrier. Brandon’s hands were on both of them, tracing the tense line of Gabby’s jaw, the powerful curve of Savannah’s hip.
The world narrowed to the circle of lantern light, the steaming water, the four of them. Dylan was close behind Savannah, his hands on her waist, his face a mask of rapt fascination.
“Come here,” Brandon heard himself say, his voice a command softened by the night.
He hauled himself out of the water, the cool air shocking his skin.He didn’t dry off, just reached back in.Savannah understood. She broke from Gabby, her eyes clouded with lust, and let Brandon pull her up onto the wooden deck. She was dripping, glorious, her skin glowing. He guided her onto her hands and knees, her back to the tub, her face toward Gabby, who had turned, her arms resting on the tub’s edge, watching.Brandon knelt behind Savannah. He didn’t hesitate, didn’t ask.The understanding was absolute, a thread pulled taut between all of them. He pushed into her in one smooth, relentless stroke. She cried out, a sharp, beautiful sound that fractured the night’s quiet, and dropped her head, burying her face between Gabby’s thighs.
Gabby’s own cry echoed Savannah’s, her back arching, her hands flying to Savannah’s head to hold her there.
Brandon moved, setting a rhythm that was driving and possessive. He watched, his gaze locked on the intimate connection before him—Savannah’s devoted motion, Gabby’s unraveling pleasure. Dylan was in the water now, behind Gabby, his hands stroking her sides, his mouth on her shoulder.
The sounds were a symphony—skin meeting skin, choked moans, the liquid rush of the tub, the frantic, eager lapping of Savannah’s tongue. Gabby was coming apart, her cries growing sharper, punctuating the rhythmic slap of Brandon’s hips. He felt the tight coil in his own gut winding tighter, fueled by the sight, the sheer debauched reality of it.
Savannah shuddered beneath him, a long, vibrating contraction that pulled a groan from his throat. He drove into her once, twice more, and the world dissolved into a blinding, white-hot rush. He spilled into her with a ragged shout, his body bowing over hers.
For a long moment, there was only the sound of heavy breathing and bubbling water.Brandon pulled back, sinking onto the deck. Savannah lifted her head from Gabby’s lap, her face slick and triumphant. She turned, crawled the single step to him, and kissed him, deep and tasting of Gabby. Then she collapsed against his side, spent.
Gabby was slumped back against Dylan in the water, a look of serene, shattered bliss on her face. She looked at Brandon, her eyes soft. He held her gaze, a silent question passing between them. She gave a slow, almost imperceptible nod, and a profound, warm satisfaction settled in his chest.
The bush around them had gone quiet, as if the night birds were holding their breath. The steam rose, connecting the water to the stars. Brandon leaned back on his hands, naked and sated, and knew the holiday had just become unforgettable. And it was only the first night.
The silence that followed was rich and full, broken only by the gentle lap of water and the distant night sounds creeping back in. Brandon watched the rise and fall of Gabby’s chest where she lounged against Dylan in the tub, her eyes closed, a faint smile on her lips.Dylan’s hands moved slowly on her shoulders, massaging. “You okay?” he murmured into her ear.Her smile widened. “More than.” She opened her eyes, finding Brandon’s across the deck. “Hey you.”
“Hey yourself.” His voice was a gratified rasp.Savannah stirred beside him, propping herself up on an elbow. Her hair was a wild, wet tangle. “Damn,” she breathed, a laugh bubbling up from her chest. “Okay, that just happened.” She looked at Gabby, a spark of renewed mischief in her eyes. “And you taste even better than I imagined.”
Gabby’s cheeks flushed a deeper pink, but she held Savannah’s gaze. “Right back at you.”
The dynamic had shifted, a circuit completed. There was no awkwardness, only a thick, shared knowledge humming between them all.Dylan cleared his throat. “I feel like I should be taking notes or something.”
“Shut up,” Savannah laughed, swatting water in his direction.
Brandon stood, the cool air tightening his skin again. He stepped back into the hot tub, the water a shocking embrace. He settled beside Gabby, his thigh pressing against hers under the water. He could feel the residual energy coming off her, a live wire. Dylan was on her other side, and Savannah slid back in, completing the circle.
For a few minutes, they just sat in the heat, the comfort of silence. Brandon’s hand found Gabby’s under the water, lacing their fingers together. She squeezed. It was Savannah who broke the stillness. She shifted, turning to face Dylan. She leaned in and kissed him, deep and languid, a reclaiming. When she pulled back, she whispered something only he could hear.Dylan’s eyes darkened, and he nodded slowly.
Then Savannah turned her attention to Gabby. “My turn to watch,” she said, her voice dropping an octave.Understanding flashed between the two women. Gabby bit her lower lip, that playful, sultry smile returning. She glanced at Brandon, a question in her eyes. His answer was a slow, deliberate blink. He was already hard again under the water.
Gabby turned in the confined space, shifting her weight until she was straddling Brandon’s lap, her back to his chest. The water buoyed her up, making her feel weightless. He wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her secure.Dylan watched, rapt, from the other side of the tub.
Savannah moved closer, her hands coming to rest on Gabby’s knees under the water. She leaned in, capturing Gabby’s mouth in a kiss that was less exploratory, more possessive. Gabby melted into it, her body going pliant against Brandon’s. He could feel every shift, every shudder. He kissed the side of her neck, tasting chlorine and her own sweet salt.
His hands drifted up from her waist, cupping her breasts, thumbing her nipples into tight peaks. She arched into his touch, breaking the kiss with Savannah to let out a soft sigh. “God…”
Savannah’s mouth traveled south, down the column of Gabby’s throat, over her collarbones. She took her time, licking and suckling at the water-beaded skin. Then she dipped lower, taking one of Gabby’s nipples into her mouth.
Gabby gasped, her head falling back against Brandon’s shoulder. Her hands came up, one tangling in Savannah’s hair, the other gripping Brandon’s thigh beneath the water. Brandon watched, transfixed, as Savannah worshipped Gabby’s breast, her other hand sliding down Gabby’s stomach, through the slick thatch of hair, and lower.
He felt Gabby tense in his arms just before Savannah’s fingers found their mark.Gabby’s breath hitched. Savannah looked up, her eyes locking with Brandon’s over Gabby’s heaving chest. She held his gaze as she worked her fingers, slow and deep, into Gabby’s wet heat. Brandon could feel the motion through Gabby’s body, the subtle rocking of her hips.
“Fuck,” Gabby whimpered.Dylan moved then, circling around behind Savannah. He pulled her back against him, his hands covering hers, his fingers joining hers inside Gabby. The sensation made Gabby cry out, a sharp, beautiful sound that shattered the quiet night. It was too much and not enough. The water churned around them. Brandon could feel Gabby’s thighs trembling where they bracketed his.He reached one hand down between their bodies, finding her swollen clit. He rubbed tight, rough circles, matching the rhythm of Dylan and Savannah’s joined hands.
Gabby was coming undone, her body a taut bowstring. The sounds she made were raw, unfiltered—guttural moans and choked pleas. Savannah bent her head again, her mouth replacing her fingers, licking deep as Dylan continued to thrust.
The pressure, the overwhelming convergence of sensation, pushed Gabby over the edge.
GABBY MOANS LOUDLY.
