Chapter 2: Chapter 2
I awoke in bed. I don't know how I got here, but I felt hot, sticky, and disgusting. My skin crawled as I peeled myself off the bed, my bones crackling as I stood. I needed air. I needed to see the sun, even if it was scorching outside. I suddenly wanted to go to the bathroom and take a shower, but I knew I would be in big trouble if I did. So I wandered out of my room, down the creaky old staircase, and out onto the back porch. The smell of the honeysuckle and lilacs was overpowering, and I breathed it in deeply as I stared out at the overgrown garden. It was full of weeds, and every once in a while a spider would weave a silken web between the rocks in the corner. The door was unlocked, and so I quietly made my way out of the house, down the stone steps, and out onto the cobblestone street I was careful not to spill my coffee, even though the cup was light years away from being full. As I walked down the street, people stared at me. I was used to it by now, but it still made me feel uncomfortable.
