Chapter 3: Chapter 3

It's gotten so bad that people are scared of even looking at me. Even my best friend is scared of me. What if I was like this all the time? What if I was always this way? Would I be any different? Would I be kind? Would I be a good person? The answer to all of these questions is no. I would be the same monster I am now.A freak. An ugly monster. A disgusting freak. A monster that no one wants because they're all scared of what I might do if I ever broke my silence. So they whisper my name and hope I don’t hear them. They call me the ghost because I never show my face and I haunt them. I watch them from afar and laugh at their insecurities.I'm the monster that lives inside them. I'm the monster that makes them look bad. I'm the monster that makes them lose sleep at night and day. I know they blame me for everything that goes wrong in this town but that’s their problem. Not mine. I have nothing to do with their lives and what they do with their time. All I do is study and sleep and eat and carry around this damn backpack. And if anyone asks me what I'm going to do with my life I have no idea. I never have any idea. My parents and I have this discussion every day. They tell me what I need to do and how I need to do it and when I need to do it by.They tell me what to say and when to say it and how to say it. I'm their puppet. I'm their puppet and they're pulling my strings. And one day I might snap and do something stupid. Like run away or hurt myself or someone else. And then what will they say? What will they do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Because they can do nothing about it.
