Chapter 3: Blood and Bruises

Evelyn stood on the stairs, her silhouette a defiant cut-out against the dim light from the hall above. The scratches on her ribs burned. The scent of her own arousal, sharp in the quiet dark, was a confession she relished.

She took a step.

Julian’s hand closed around her ankle. It wasn’t a grab, but a claim, his fingers locking just above her heel with a possessiveness that sent a new shock through her system.

He pulled.

Not hard enough to topple her, but with a steady, inexorable force that drew her back down into the living room darkness. She let him, a smile touching her lips as she turned to face him. He was already rising to his feet, a taller shadow resolving from the gloom, his breathing still uneven.

He yanked her the final distance, her body colliding softly with his. The warmth of his skin, the sweat cooling on his chest, the hard line of him pressed against her stomach—it was an electric amalgam of violence and intimacy.

“But I didn’t finish eating my dinner,” he said, his voice a low, petulant whine that was utterly at odds with the dark, consuming hunger in his royal blue eyes.

Evelyn opened her mouth, a retort about mistresses and their dues already forming, but he moved.

He bent at the knees, one arm wrapping behind her back, the other under her thighs, and lifted her as if she weighed nothing. In one fluid, powerful motion, he hoisted her up and settled her onto his shoulders, her thighs bracketing his head, her core positioned directly over his face. The world flipped; the ceiling with its faint, distant skylight became her horizon.

Before she could even gasp, he was on her.

There was no preamble, no gentle exploration. His mouth sealed over her, hot and devouring, his tongue spearing into her with a focused, greedy intensity. It was a feast and a punishment, a reclamation. She cried out, her hands flying to his dark hair, fingers tangling in the sweat-damp strands, gripping for anchor, for control, to steady herself against the sheer, obliterating sensation.

He held her aloft effortlessly, his arms locked around her thighs, his broad shoulders immovable. She was pinned in his worship, a prisoner to his appetite. The raw, musky scent of her own desire filled the air around them, mingling with the coppery tinge of their dried blood. The contrast was dizzying: the tasteful, serene living room, shadows of broken vase on the floor, and this primal act at its center.

“That’s right,” she moaned, her head falling back, her voice a ragged thread. “Eat it. Eat my pussy, Daddy. Make your Mistress cum.”

He obeyed. The whiny pretense was gone, burned away by a deeper, driving need. He licked and sucked and probed, his technique not of a lover seeking to please, but of a starving man consuming his due. His nose pressed against her as he worked, his breath hot against her most sensitive flesh. The stimulation was relentless, overwhelming, a direct line to every nerve ending she possessed.

She came hard and fast, a silent, convulsive wave that ripped through her, tightening her grip on his hair until her knuckles ached. He didn’t slow. He didn’t gentle. He redoubled his efforts, drinking her in, prolonging the spasms until they were a continuous, shuddering current.

When he finally let her slide down his body, her legs were liquid. He caught her, his own need a rigid, urgent pressure against her belly. He walked her backwards until her shoulders met the cool drywall of the living room archway. The contrast of the painted plaster against her heated skin was a shock.

“My turn,” he breathed into her mouth, his voice rough.

He turned her, gently but firmly, pressing her front against the wall. He entered her from behind in one deep, sure stroke, his considerable length burying itself to the hilt. She gasped, the fullness a sweet, stretching ache. He didn’t move, just held himself there, letting her adjust, letting them both feel the profound connection.

Then he began. It wasn’t a rhythm; it was a demand. Each thrust was a controlled, powerful slam of his hips, driving her into the wall, the force vibrating through her bones. He gripped her hips, his thumbs digging into the soft flesh, surely leaving bruises. She pushed back against him, meeting each drive, the sound of their bodies colliding a wet, rhythmic slap in the silent house.

“Who do you belong to?” he growled, his breath hot on her neck.

“You,” she choked out.

“Louder.”

“You, Daddy!” she cried, the title a surrender and a triumph.

He laughed, a dark, delighted sound, and one hand slid around her hip, his fingers finding her clit. His touch was as demanding as his thrusts, rough and circular, pushing her towards another peak even as he used her body for his own. The dual sensations fused—the deep, internal pounding and the sharp, focused friction—into a single, unbearable tension.

He felt her inner muscles begin to flutter, to clamp down on him. “Come for me,” he commanded, his own control fraying. “Now.”

It was an order she couldn’t disobey. Her orgasm seized her, a violent, pulsing release that tore a scream from her throat, muffled by the wall. It triggered his own; with a final, deep grind, he spilled into her, a guttural groan ripped from his chest, his forehead pressed between her shoulder blades.

They stayed like that for long minutes, slumped against the wall, breathing in ragged unison. The smell of them—sex, sweat, the faint iron of blood—was thick in the air.

Slowly, he withdrew. He turned her, gathering her against him. She was limp, boneless. He kissed her forehead, her eyelids, her swollen mouth with a tenderness that felt like a different language altogether.

It was her turn to lead.

She guided him to the deep, expensive sofa and pushed him down. In the ambient light, she saw the thin cut on his bicep, the scratch on his cheek. She traced them with her fingers, then leaned down and took him in her mouth. She used her tongue, her lips, the surgeon’s precise knowledge of pressure and sensitivity, to dominate him utterly. She reduced the powerful man who had just held her against a wall to a trembling, pleading mess, his hands fisted in the sofa fabric. She made him beg, made him call her Mistress, made him give up every last shuddering drop of his control before she allowed him his release.

The night became a shifting landscape of whispered commands and gasped submissions. They moved from the sofa to the rug, to the cold hardwood floor by the shattered vase. They used hands and mouths and words, sharp and filthy and tender by turns. They inflicted small, delicious pains—bites that just broke the skin, pinches that left blooming flowers of violet under the freckled tan of her skin. They soothed them with kisses and licks. They were, by turns, master and slave, predator and prey, Daddy and Mistress, surgeon and patient.

Dawn was a grey suggestion at the floor-to-ceiling windows when they finally lay spent, a tangled heap of limbs on the Persian rug, now stained with more than just their battle. They were a map of each other’s appetites: streaks of blood from their earlier scratches had smeared and mixed with sweat and other, more intimate fluids. Evelyn lay with her head on Julian’s chest, listening to the strong, steady beat of his heart slowing. His fingers traced idle patterns on the bare skin of her shoulder.

“Ben Tilson,” she said into the quiet, her voice hoarse. “The surgery is Thursday. It’s posterior fossa, tricky but straightforward. I’ll be in there for six hours, maybe seven.”

Julian’s hand stilled for a moment, then resumed its tracing. He understood. This was their other shared calendar. The rhythm of their normal lives provided the structure for the other. Her intense focus on a child’s brain, the life-and-death precision, would be a necessary purge. A way to channel the lingering echoes of tonight into something the world would applaud.

“I have the Jasen account final review tomorrow,” he murmured, his lips against her hair. “They’ll want the full brand autopsy. It’s going to be tedious.”

She smiled against his skin. “Give them hell.”

“Always do.”

The grey light softened, turning the room from a chamber of shadows back into a sanctuary of modern taste. The broken vase was a stark pile in the corner. They would clean it later. For now, they existed in the afterglow of their shared cathedral, two halves of a perfectly twisted whole, finding peace not in spite of their darkness, but because of it. The twelve-week clock was now officially ticking, a slow metronome in the backs of their minds. But for today, they were sated. The monsters were fed, curled together in the clean, morning light.
