Chapter 2: Building Tension
The lead alien leaned over Tom, its breath hot on his neck as it whispered words he couldn't understand into his ear. He tried to push away, but the restraints held fast, pinning him down like a bug on a board. He could feel the creature's cool fingers tracing patterns across his chest, sending shivers down his spine despite his terror.
Its breath tickled the side of his face, carrying with it the scent of some unknown, exotic world. But there was nothing alluring about this situation; only fear coursed through Tom's veins as he lay there helplessly.
Suddenly, another alien joined the first, both of them whispering back and forth in their strange language. They seemed to be arguing about something, gesturing wildly at Tom as they did so. He tried to speak again, pleading for someone to hear him, but still no sound emerged from his throat.
Desperation surged through him as he thrashed against the restraints once more, his heart racing faster than ever. Panic rose within him like bile, threatening to choke him from the inside out.
And then, without warning, one of the aliens produced a long, thin tube from behind its back. Tom saw it coming toward him and tried to cry out, but nothing came out of his mouth. He felt a sudden stab of pain behind his navel, followed by another just below his ribcage.
