Chapter 9: Silk and Sweat
The house was too quiet. After the humid, twinkling darkness of Destiny’s room, the hallway felt sterile, the silence a vacuum. Mildred stood for a moment, listening. Nothing from behind Destiny’s door. Nothing from downstairs. But from behind the door at the end of the hall, a faint, rhythmic clanking.
Sid.
The small, hard shape of the bullet vibrator was a persistent secret in her pocket. She hadn’t planned this. Not exactly. But the wire of power was still live in her, buzzing in time with the memory of the toy’s hum. It needed an outlet.
She walked to the door of the home gym, her silk robe whispering against her calves. She didn’t knock. She just pushed the door open.
The air in the small room was thick and warm, carrying the sharp, salty scent of male sweat. Sid was on the bench press, the bar loaded with what looked to her like an impossible weight. His back was to her, muscles corded and gleaming under a fine sheen of perspiration. Each rep was a controlled struggle, a low grunt escaping him as he pushed the bar up, the metal clinking against the supports.
Mildred leaned against the doorframe, letting the silence stretch. She watched the play of his shoulders, the way his shorts clung to his thighs. He finished his set with a final, explosive push and let the bar settle with a loud clang. He lay there for a second, chest heaving.
“Mom?” he panted, tilting his head back to see her upside down. “What’s up?”
“Just checking on my other child,” she said, her voice light. She stepped fully into the room, letting the door sigh shut behind her. The fan in the corner whirred, pushing the damp air around. “Destiny’s finally asleep. Poor thing was… restless.”
She moved closer, the silk of her robe shifting. She’d tied it loosely this morning. A calculated negligence. She stopped beside the bench, looking down at him. His face was flushed with exertion.
“Yeah, she looked rough last night,” he said, sitting up and grabbing a water bottle from the floor. He took a long swallow, water trickling down his chin and onto his chest.
Mildred’s eyes followed the path of the droplet. She reached out, her fingers brushing the damp skin over his sternum. He flinched, a jolt going through him.
“You’re working so hard,” she murmured, her hand resting there for a moment too long before she pulled it away. She could feel the frantic beat of his heart under her fingertips.
He cleared his throat, suddenly unable to meet her eyes. “Gotta do something, right?”
“You do,” she agreed softly. She let her gaze drift down, over the tight fabric of his workout shorts. The outline was unmistakable, a thick, hardening shape pressed against the damp cotton. He followed her look and shifted uncomfortably, trying to adjust himself without being obvious.
The silence in the room became a tangible thing, heavy with the smell of sweat and the hum of the fan. Mildred didn’t move. She just watched him, a faint, knowing smile playing on her lips. Her right hand slipped into her pocket, her fingers finding the small plastic button.
She pressed it.
The vibrator came to life with a silent, intense buzz, the vibrations muffled by the silk of her robe and the fabric of her pocket, but she felt it instantly, a sharp, insistent tremor against her upper thigh.
Sid’s eyes widened. He could hear it. A faint, almost imperceptible buzz, like an angry insect trapped in the room. His eyes darted around before landing on her. On the slight, rhythmic tremor in the fabric of her robe where her hand was buried.
“What is that?” he asked, his voice tight.
“What is what, baby?” Mildred asked, her tone innocent. She took a half-step closer, the buzzing now unmistakably coming from her. The scent of her perfume, something floral and expensive, mixed with the gym’s musk.
He was staring, transfixed, at the source of the sound. His breathing had gone shallow. The prominent shape in his shorts twitched, growing more defined. He was fully, painfully hard now, and he made no move to hide it.
“Mom…” It was a warning, a plea, a question.
She just looked at him, her eyes dark and unblinking. She shifted her weight, pressing the buzzing toy more firmly against her leg. The effect on him was immediate. His jaw tightened. A low groan rattled in his chest. His hips gave a small, involuntary buck.
He was coming. Right there, fully clothed, without a hand ever touching him. His body seized, his back arching off the bench just as Destiny’s had off the bed. A stifled, choked sound was torn from him, and a dark, wet patch rapidly bloomed and spread across the front of his grey shorts.
He collapsed back onto the bench, breathless, his face a mask of shock and humiliation. The faint buzz from her pocket ceased as she released the button.
Mildred looked from his stunned face down to the damp evidence staining his shorts. She didn’t say a word. She simply knelt on the worn yoga mat beside the bench.
He flinched, trying to sit up, to cover himself. “Don’t—”
She ignored him. Her movements were slow, deliberate. Her fingers hooked into the waistband of his shorts and the underwear beneath. She pulled them down just enough.
He was still wet, glistening. The smell, potent and uniquely his, filled the small space between them.
She leaned in.
Her tongue, flat and deliberate, swept through the mess.
Sid gasped, his hands flying to grip the sides of the bench, his knuckles white. It was a sound of pure, unadulterated shock.
Mildred pulled back, her expression one of casual curiosity, as if she’d just tasted a new sauce. She looked up at his horrified, wide-eyed face.
“Salty,” she said, her voice perfectly even. Then she stood, smoothing her robe down over her hips. “Don’t forget to wipe down the equipment, Sid.”
She turned and walked out, leaving him half-naked and shattered on the bench, the taste of him still on her lips, a second conquest complete. The door clicked shut, sealing him in with what he’d just allowed to happen.
The door clicked shut, sealing him in with what he’d just allowed to happen.
Mildred didn’t pause in the hallway. She walked, the taste of him—musky and sharp—still a tangible film on her tongue. Power was a flavor, it seemed, and she was developing a palate for it. She passed the closed door to her own bedroom, where Sid’s art portfolio lay neglected in a corner, and didn’t stop until she stood again outside Destiny’s room.
A faint, rhythmic buzzing greeted her. She’d left the rose gold vibrator on its slow, persistent pulse inside the drawer. The sound was a thread pulling her back in.
She pushed the door open. Destiny was as she’d left her, a still life of abandonment under the twinkling lights. Her breathing was deeper now, the drug having fully anchored her in a profound, helpless sleep. Mildred approached the bed, her shadow falling over her daughter’s face.
The next moment in Destiny's room was pure improv. Mildred opened her robe, bore her breast and placed the hardened nipple against Destiny's lips.
For a heartbeat, nothing. Then, a reflex. Destiny’s mouth, soft and slack, moved instinctively, seeking. Her lips parted, accepting the offering, closing around the areola with a sleepy, suckling pressure.
A shudder, electric and profound, ripped through Mildred. It was nothing like Sid’ frantic climax. This was a deep, seismic shift inside her, a primal circuit closing. She braced a hand on the headboard, her knees going weak.
Destiny suckled gently, a faint, contented sound humming in her throat. Her brow, furrowed with stress for weeks, smoothed into perfect peace.
Mildred looked down at the scene, at her adult daughter nursing at her breast. A bizarre, overwhelming tenderness flooded her, so potent it felt like violence. This was better than control. This was creation. She was rewriting their history, one corrupted instinct at a time.
She let it continue for a long minute, savoring the bizarre intimacy, the absolute power of providing this warped comfort. Then, with a slow, deliberate motion, she pulled her breast away.
Destiny whimpered in her sleep, her head turning on the pillow, seeking the lost warmth.
“Shhh, baby,” Mildred whispered, retying her robe. The silk felt different against her sensitized skin. “Mommy’s here.”
She reached into the nightstand drawer, her fingers pushing past the other toys until they closed around the sleek, black wand. She clicked it on. The room filled with its deep, aggressive thrum, a sound that promised to obliterate all subtlety.
Destiny stirred at the noise, a line of tension returning to her shoulders.
Mildred didn’t press it to her. Not yet. She simply held the buzzing wand over Destiny’s sleeping form, letting the vibrations ripple through the air between them. A promise. A threat.
“We have all the time in the world,” Mildred said to the silent, twinkling room. She smiled, the taste of her son and the feel of her daughter’s mouth still vivid on her skin. The vibrator in her hand throbbed, a steady, impatient heartbeat.
The wand’s deep thrum was the only sound that mattered now, drowning out the fairy lights’ cheerful twinkle and Destiny’s slow, drugged breaths. Mildred watched the vibrations travel up her own arm, a current of potential. She needed a deeper truth, a more intimate knowledge than the forced climax or the suckling reflex could provide.
She lowered the buzzing head.
It hovered just above Destiny’s left nipple, visible through the thin cotton of her t-shirt. The fabric itself began to tremble. Mildred pressed down. Destiny’s body jolted, a sharp intake of breath hissing through her teeth even in unconsciousness. The nipple hardened instantly into a tight, desperate peak beneath the relentless vibration.
Mildred clicked the wand off.
The sudden silence was a vacuum. She looked at that hardened tip, a perfect, strained button. An answer to a question she hadn’t known she was asking. Without hesitation, she bent her head.
Her mouth closed over the fabric, over the rigid nub beneath.
She nursed.
There was no milk, only the taste of clean cotton and the salt of her daughter’s skin. The act was stark, devoid of the tenderness she had feigned earlier. This was geological. This was claiming mineral rights to a body she had made. Destiny made a weak, gurgling sound, her back arching slightly, offering herself more fully to the violation.
Mildred drank the sensation, the absolute submission. This was different from Sid’s frantic finish. This was stillness. This was ownership written in the very cells.
She finally pulled away, leaving the fabric damp. Destiny’s nipple remained erect, a tiny, defiant monument to the conquest. Mildred straightened up, her own breath coming slow and satisfied. She looked from her daughter’s exposed form to the powerful wand in her hand, then towards the door, beyond which her son was surely still reeling.
A perfect, terrible symmetry settled in her mind. She had tasted them both now. She knew them. The house was no longer just a house. It was her kingdom, and every heartbeat within it beat for her.
