Tommie and Reiley meet in a cyber cafe on the outer rim space station that they worked and lived on. He worked on and maintained automated Construction droids for ever-expanding projects to the station. She was a hostess at one of the stations sanctioned pleasure houses. They had connected because they both where from the northern America continent. And had been dating for over almost 3 years and living together for 2 years. For the last 6 months they have been involved in several underground sex clubs that supply patrons with different substances that enhance sexual intimacy

Characters

  • Hazel Coyle — A resident of the outer rim space station who works as a hostess, secretly studying for a degree in pleasure house management to eventually take over the business. She balances her professional aspirations with a hedonistic life in the station's underground clubs, utilizing chemical enhancements to
  • Jelani Adebayo — A high-end supplier of chemical stimulants and synaptic enhancers who operates out of the station's deepest, unmonitored sectors. He manages the underground sex clubs that Tommie and Reiley frequent, holding them in his debt through exclusive access to restricted substances.
  • Tommie — A technician specializing in automated construction droids for the station's expansion. He is deeply integrated into the station's infrastructure, using his access to maintain the couple's lifestyle and facilitate their shared participation in underground chemsex clubs, remaining a devoted, faithful
  • Naomi Fisk — A small, compact woman who trained Hazel on the intake desk and disappeared from the roster two years before, logged as transferred to an inner-ring private contract. She now walks the volume barefoot in a grey underlayer with a black band set into her skull and a silver seam running up her forearm
  • Wendell — A man held behind one of the occupied doors in Utility Volume 11-7, speaking through a speaker in corridor 11-7-C. His voice is deeper and older than the woman in 11-7-B, and he refuses to let her beg or use his name.
  • The Booted Man — A thick-shouldered man in his mid-fifties in a dark coat with no crest, no cuff light, and no data on his wrist, logged by the desk scanner as nothing. He came to the intake desk at 0740, addressed Hazel as 'the Coyle,' and told her to tell Adebayo the reading has moved.
  • Tirrell — A man whose crew and berths Jelani referenced when demanding the manifest line be redrawn and warning that his men not be sent through the volume again. Tommie knows the name from Jelani's earlier questions about dock logs.
  • Priya — A junior hostess who works the intake desk alongside Hazel and was trained by her. She has logged a stomach complaint four times that month.
  • Curtis Vale — A four-year veteran of the droid pen on Dock Tier Seven who taught Tommie the manual override pin trick and had eaten dinner at Tommie and Hazel's apartment. He escorts intake subjects down the west conveyor spur and logs them to Volume 11-7.

Chapter 1: Debt and Desire in the Deep Sector

The lift down to Sub-Level 9 smelled of ozone and wet stone, and it dropped faster than the station's overlay map claimed any shaft should. Tommie watched the level numbers flicker past on the scratched brass plate above the door. Seven. Eight. The little bulb behind the plate guttered and went dark the way it always did below eight, as if the station agreed to pretend the lower decks did not exist.

Hazel stood close beside him, her shoulder against his arm, the polymer of her bodysuit cool and slick where it pressed through the worn fabric of his sleeve. The suit shifted as she breathed, matte charcoal sliding toward a slow iridescent violet at the seams, catching light that the lift should not have had. Her data-link cuff pulsed once against her wrist, soft green, a heartbeat counted down in somebody else's ledger.

"Nervous?" she asked.

"Counting," he said. "Roughly eleven seconds to the floor. Same as last time."

"You count everything."

"It keeps me honest." He looked at her. In the bad light of the lift her face was all angles, jaw sharp under the cut of her bob, grey eyes flat and sure. "You okay?"

"I'm fine." She said it the way she always said it, which meant the answer was more complicated than the words, and she had already decided the complication was hers to carry. She reached over and straightened the collar of his jumpsuit where it had folded, tugging the zipper down a half inch so the silver chain caught light against his collarbone. Her fingers stayed there a moment, warm through the mesh. "You didn't eat."

"I ate."

"You didn't." She let her hand drop. "We'll eat after. You know he does that, makes it so you don't."

The lift shuddered and stopped. The doors ground apart on a corridor that was narrower than the ones above, walls furred with condensation and a rust-colored bloom of mineral crust, and the air that rolled in was warm and sweet and heavy, and it did not smell like a station. It smelled like a garden that had been allowed to rot in a closed room, and underneath the sweetness, faint, a chemical bite like a struck match.

Hazel stepped out first. She always stepped out first. He had let her win that argument five months ago and never tried to take it back, because she was right that the first face through the door should be the one nobody read as a threat, and because her smallness did something to men that his shoulders did not.

The corridor ran sixty meters and bent twice, and by the last bend the mineral crust gave way to clean obsidian tile, seams invisible, so smooth underfoot that their steps made no sound at all. The temple made its own hush. Two sets of doors, and then the third, which had no handle on their side and opened anyway.

The sanctum took a moment to resolve out of the violet haze. Incense burned somewhere in the dark, twenty sticks or a hundred, sweet and cloying enough to coat the back of the throat, and the smoke pooled against a ceiling that was not visible, only felt as a height, a pressure above. The obsidian ran up the walls in great unbroken planes, and set into it, low, the dim pulsing lights breathed in and out like something sleeping. A long table of polished stone sat in the middle of the room with nothing on it.

Jelani Adebayo sat at the far end of it, and he did not stand.

He never stood. Tommie had decided months ago that this was deliberate, that the man had taught himself the trick of arriving already seated and letting you cross the whole room to him, so that by the time you reached the table he had watched every step you took. He wore the matte-black vest, the collarless mesh shirt beneath, the heavy gold chain resting against his chest. His head was shaved clean, and in the violet light his skin drank the color down to something deeper than black, and his eyes came up pale yellow, uncanny, too bright for his face.

"Hazel," he said. "Tommie." His voice was low and warm and pitched exactly to the room, and when he moved his hand toward the chairs across from him, the sound of fabric on fabric arrived a quarter second after the gesture, as though the sanctum itself were a speaker.

They sat. Hazel folded her hands; Tommie left his loose in his lap, near his thigh, where the maintenance multi-tool sat in its holster under the flap. It was a habit he would not have called a habit if anyone asked.

"You look well," Jelani said to Hazel. "The house treating you right?"

"The house treats me the way a house treats a new floor," she said. "It lets me stand on it."

Jelani smiled. It was a real smile, or something that had been trained past the point where a real one mattered. "And your studies?"

"Coming along."

"Good. I like to watch you climb." He turned his eyes to Tommie, and the amber in them seemed to hold light rather than reflect it. "And our technician. How go the droids?"

"They build," Tommie said.

"That they do. Whole new tier by the docks, they tell me. Tirrell's boys got the contract for the interior fit-out." He let that sit. "You know Tirrell's boys."

"I know who they are."

"You'd know their access logs, I'd think. Somebody who maintains the lifts and the shafts, somebody who climbs through them at all hours." Jelani shrugged one shoulder, and the chain shifted on his chest with a faint clink. "A man with your habits sees a great deal."

Tommie said nothing. Beside him, Hazel's hands stayed folded and her face stayed pleasant, and he could feel her listening the way she listened at the house, cataloguing, filing.

Jelani let the silence run until it was comfortable, which meant until it belonged to him. Then he reached down beside his chair and brought up a tray, and set it on the obsidian between them.

Three injectors, nested in a black foam block. They were slim and glass-bodied and they glowed from within, a slow amber that matched the man's eyes, the light moving in the fluid as if the fluid itself were breathing. Beside them, a fourth, smaller, sealed tight under a cap of brushed metal, dark, no light coming from it at all.

Hazel leaned forward. She did it slowly, and Tommie understood she was doing it slowly on purpose, to bring her small face over the tray without seeming to lunge at it. Her finger found the rim of the nearest glass cylinder and traced it, one slow circuit, the way you'd read a seal you didn't trust. The glow lit her jaw from below. Violet slid up the seam of her bodysuit and settled there.

"That's new," she said.

"That's new," Jelani agreed.

"The color."

"The color is the easiest thing about it to explain." He leaned back, and the chair took him without a sound. "You remember the batch from the spring. The one that made the four of you in the blue room forget how to find the door for six hours."

"Vividly," Hazel said dryly. "I still have a mark on my shoulder from Reyes."

"You wore it well. This is not that." He tapped one glowing cylinder with a fingernail, and the light inside shivered, quickened. "This one binds to the touch receptors first. Not the reward pathway, the receptors themselves. Everything gets louder. Every fingertip. Every breath on your neck. Your own hand on your own skin will feel like somebody else's. It sharpens for the first hour, holds for three or four, and then it lets go of you. It does not blur memory. That is the part I am proud of. You will remember every single thing you do tonight."

Tommie watched Hazel's grey eyes and saw what he always saw when she looked at something she wanted: a tally running behind them, cost against cost.

"And the fourth one," she said.

"The fourth one is not for tonight." Jelani's tone did not change, but the room's acoustics seemed to lean in. "The fourth one is a conversation we have not had yet. Forget it."

"I'll forget it."

"You will try. You are a curious woman. It costs you nothing tonight."

Tommie spoke, and it surprised them both; the words came out flat and low, and they cut the incense-smoke between the three of them. "What's the price."

Jelani looked at him for a long moment. Under the table, Hazel's knee found his and pressed once, a signal, and he did not look at her.

"You remember what I told you in the beginning," Jelani said. "That I do not sell. I invest."

"You sell," Tommie said.

"I invest." The man's stillness was absolute, his hands folded loose on his chest, no fidget, no shift, and his voice came out of that stillness warm as a hand on the back of the neck. "The credits are a formality. I take those because a man who gives away his work is a man nobody respects. What I actually want is what you two are."

"Say it plainer," Hazel said.

"You are the most interesting couple on this station," Jelani said. "You are not rich. You are not famous. You are a technician and a hostess, and you have been coming down here for six months and taking everything I hand you, and you have not once cheated me, lied to me, or flinched. Most of my clients buy the feeling and then go home and pretend they bought furniture. You two buy the feeling and then you talk about it. For hours. You write things down." He looked at Hazel. "You write things down."

Her hands did not move in her lap. "I keep a journal of what we take and how it lands. That's just good practice. I'm studying the business."

"You are. Which is why I want the writing." He held up a hand before she could speak. "Not your private pages. I would never ask for a woman's private pages. I want what you already do with your body and your mouth for free: I want your read on it. Afterwards, when it has let go of you, you tell me. You tell me what the compound did to a real pair of nervous systems, and you tell me true, the boring parts included, and you let me record it." He nodded at the obsidian wall, and Tommie understood, without being shown, that there were lenses in it. "Half the value of a compound is knowing what it does to people who like each other. I have nobody else I trust to tell me true."

"And if it goes wrong," Tommie said.

"Then I am the one who fed it to you," Jelani said, "and my whole business walks on the fact that I have never killed a client who was worth more to me alive, and you two are worth a great deal alive." The smile again. "I would come for you myself. I would carry you up the levels on my own back. That is the honest answer and it is the only honest answer you are going to get out of anybody on this station."

The incense turned over in the dark. Somewhere behind the wall a pump ran, low and patient, the sound of the whole station breathing through its filters. Tommie looked at the tray. Three cylinders, amber and breathing, and the small dark one he had already been told to forget.

He thought about the way the compound from the spring had felt, and the way he had been able to feel Hazel's pulse through two inches of mattress foam, and the way he had cried afterwards without knowing why and she had held his head against her small flat chest and told him it was the chemicals and not him. He thought about the way her breath changed when she leaned over the tray just now. He thought about the fact that she had already decided. She had decided somewhere around the fourth second of tracing that glass, and the rest of this table was just the two of them going through the motions of being adults about it, and the truth was he had decided too, and he had decided because she had, and because when you spend three years watching one person's eyes in bad light you learn to read the whole sentence at once.

"Hazel," he said.

She looked at him. That was all. He had asked her the only question still open, and she answered it with her face, and it was yes, and it was yes in the particular way that meant she was going to take the lead tonight and keep him close and check on him, and that he was going to let her.

He looked back at Jelani.

"Terms," Tommie said.

"Speak."

"You record with the lenses. Fine. No names. No faces, not ours, not on any file that leaves this room. You want the readings, you take them here, tonight, and you keep them here."

"Agreed."

"And we take the third injector between us," Tommie said. "The two of you are not getting one of them. We are not your test."

Jelani's smile widened, and for a moment the cultivated warmth in it slipped over into something hungrier, genuine, the man looking at a tool he had just discovered was sharper than advertised. "Agreed. I will take nothing tonight. I will sit here in the dark and watch." He pushed the tray across the obsidian, and it slid without a sound, and it stopped under Tommie's hand. "Same as I always do. You two are the show."

Hazel took the first injector out of its foam and held it up between two fingers and looked through the glowing fluid at the man across the table, and the amber light threw her pale grey eyes into something almost gold. "You're going to be disappointed," she said. "We're not a show."

"You are the best show I have ever run," Jelani said. "That is why I keep you."

She set the injector down carefully and looked at Tommie, and her knee pressed his again, and her voice was even and low and meant for him and no one else. "You want to go in the water first, or do you want me to."

"Water first," he said. "You know it hits me harder."

"Did you eat."

"I ate."

"Liar." She picked the injector back up. "Put your arm out."

The sanctum held its breath around them, incense turning slow in the violet, the obsidian drinking the light, and Tommie pulled his sleeve up over the corded muscle of his forearm and laid it on the cold table.

She held it the way she did everything with a point to it, thumb and forefinger, the glass warm where her hand had been closed around it, and she brought the tip down and laid it against the corded muscle of his inner forearm and did not push yet.

"Look at me," she said.

He looked. Her face above the injector was all concentration now, the pleasant mask folded away, and this was the Hazel he got and the house did not, the one with the tally running behind her eyes and every number in it his. She found the vein under his skin with her thumb, pressed it flat, and slid the tip in.

It went in cold and there was a beat, one beat, where nothing happened at all, and then the amber broke loose and he felt it cross into him. Not like a needle. Like a wire laid along the inside of the vein with the current already running through it, a thin hot thread unspooling up his arm, and he watched the fluid in the cylinder drop as it went, each glowing fraction vanishing down the line of his vein, and the light that was left behind under his skin was faint and moved with the blood, amber carried up his forearm toward the elbow, pooling, spreading.

The thread reached his shoulder and stopped and did not stop.

Hazel pulled the injector out and capped it against the tray with a click that he heard in his teeth, in his jawbone, a second sound stacked on the first like a stone on a stone. She set the spent cylinder back in the foam. She put her hand flat over the small welling bead of blood on his forearm and held it there, and he felt every ridge of her fingerprint, every degree of her skin, and the pressure of her palm went down through the muscle and rang in the bone beneath like a struck bell, and he made a sound, low, involuntary, and she heard it and did not smile.

"There it is," she said.

He took his arm back and turned it over and looked at it. It looked like his arm. It looked exactly like his arm, and it was the most vivid thing he had ever seen, each hair a separate object, the grease in the creases of his knuckles a whole landscape, the old scar across his thumb so deep in focus he could see the small white line where the skin had healed over the stitch marks. He flexed his fingers and felt the tendon sliding over the wrist bones and each of the four joints of the finger coming undone in sequence, hinge and hinge and hinge and hinge, four separate mechanisms, and he laughed, one short breath, because he had spent eight years maintaining joints and he had never once felt his own.

Across the table Jelani watched. The man had not moved. The amber of his eyes was still the brightest thing in the room, and now Tommie could see the second thing he had never seen before, the tiny dilation of the man's pupils holding steady, the man watching him the way an engineer watches a joint he built run its first load.

The warmth hit his chest.

It came up through the sternum and opened out along the ribs, both sides at once, and along the ribs it found the skin and the skin started reporting. His jumpsuit was suddenly a fact. Every seam of it, every stitch of the synthetic weave, every fold where it bunched at the small of his back, every degree of its temperature, which ran cool at the collar and hot under the arms, and the zipper he could feel as a line of small teeth down his sternum, each one distinct, each one touching him, and beneath the jumpsuit his own chest hair moving in the breath he took, and he took another breath just to watch it happen.

His pulse arrived. He could feel it everywhere at once, not in the throat and the wrist like a normal man's but in the temples, the armpits, the crotch, the backs of the knees, the pulse spread out into his whole body and beating low and slow, and with it the room's faint vibration from the pumps behind the wall, which he had never once noticed in his life and now could not unhear, a rhythm in the obsidian under his boots.

Hazel's knee pressed his, and the press came in through the fabric, through the muscle, and did not stop at the skin, went in and found the pulse there and matched it.

"How is it," she said.

"Warm," he said. His voice sounded borrowed. "It's loud. Everything is loud."

"Which part."

He looked at the tray he could not stop looking at, the two remaining cylinders breathing their amber at him, and at her hand resting on the obsidian, the small competent hand with the short nails, and he said the true thing. "Your hand. Your hand is loud."

She did not look away. She turned her hand over on the table, palm up, four fingers open on the black stone, and offered it, and he put his on top of it, and the touch went off through him like a struck cable, root to tip, and he felt the two pressures at once, the pressure he was giving and the pressure he was receiving, and they were different weights and different temperatures and both of them ran up his arm to the shoulder and down into the chest and pooled there, and he closed his fingers around hers and shut his eyes.

"Tommie," she said.

"I'm good."

"You're crying."

He was. He had not noticed. The tears were the same warm as everything else and he could feel each one separately, as a thing, hatch from the corner of his eye and creep down the cheek and gather at the jaw, and he did not care, and he opened his eyes and looked at her.

"Happens," he said. "Last time too."

"Last time it was after."

"This one's different."

Jelani's voice arrived from the far end of the table, low and unhurried, pitched into the room's hush. "That is the binding, technician. The come-up goes into the touch receptors first. It will level off in twenty minutes or so and then it will hold. You are feeling the sharp end of it. It will not get worse. It will get wider."

Tommie did not look at him. He kept his hand over Hazel's and kept his eyes on her, and she had already turned to the tray and was reaching for the second injector with her free hand, and he watched that hand cross the table, the one detail left in the world sharp enough to cut, and he understood exactly what she was about to do and he was glad of every part of it, and he did not let go of her other hand.

She picked the cylinder up and brought it to her own arm, and her grey eyes came up to his, and she held them there while the tip found the vein.

She pushed it in herself, slow, and the glow in the glass dropped as the fluid crossed, and he watched it go the way he had watched it go into his own arm an hour ago and this time it was happening to her, and every part of him reported it. The amber thread unspooled up the inside of her forearm, thin and hot, visible under the pale skin like a filament laid in glass, and her jaw tightened at the elbow and tightened again at the shoulder, and she pulled the injector out and set it in the foam and put her hand over the bead of blood the way she had over his, and she did not look away from him once.

The room was loud. The room had always been loud, the pump behind the wall, the incense sticks creaking as they burned down, the small clicks his own joints made in his fingers, and now it got louder because her come-up was in his ears, or in the part of the nervous system the compound had opened and left open. He could follow it. It was not imagination. It was that her breath changed and he heard the change as a sequence: a short pull, a hold, a longer release, and then the skin of her face went through something, the color rising in her throat first, a pink nimbus up the neck to the ears, and the violet seams of her bodysuit, which had been matte, went loose and liquid as the polymer woke to the heat coming off her, sliding from charcoal through indigo and into that iridescent violet that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with what was running in her veins.

It moved down her.

He watched her free hand lift off the table without her telling it to and close on the edge of the obsidian, the knuckles going white, and that was not the compound, that was her, steadying herself for the width of the thing coming. Because it came up her arm and into the chest and opened out along the ribs the same as his, and then lower, and he could see the exact moment it reached the lower body because her knees came apart under the table, one inch, two, her thighs easing open on the chair, and her whole spine lengthened, chin coming up, and her grey eyes went half-lidded and stayed on his face and got very direct and very much her own.

"God," she said. One syllable. Low.

"Tell me," he said.

She turned her hand over and took his wrist and laid his palm flat on the side of her throat, and inside her throat he found the pulse, quick under the jaw, and the pulse came into his palm and up his arm and doubled in his chest, two hearts in one ribcage, and he made a sound and she did not care, she was past caring.

"There," she said, "there, hold that, it is going straight down my throat and into my tits, everything is going somewhere, Tommie, I can feel the seams of this suit on my nipples like they have teeth."

He pulled his hand down. He did it without asking and she let him do it without asking, that was the agreement under everything, and he laid his palm over the small hard shape of her breast through the waking polymer, and she rolled into it, pushing into his hand, and the suit under his fingers was hot and the shape of her nipple was standing up in it and it was wet where he pressed, the fabric slick, and she sucked air through her teeth.

"More," she said.

He got the zipper. The seam ran down the front center of the bodysuit from the collar to the crotch, a hidden track under a strip of the responsive polymer, and he thumbed it open and the fabric split and fell away from the centerline of her, violet to charcoal where it peeled, and her skin came out pale and flat-bellied and she did not look away from him or blink while he opened her. Small flat breasts, the nipples tight and dark pink and drawn in, and the sweat already sheening over her sternum, and he bent and put his mouth on the left one and dragged his tongue flat across the nipple, and she made a noise that started in the throat and came out wrong, a low broken thing, her hand grabbing the back of his hair.

"Harder," she said. "It's not enough, it's all shouting, bite it."

He bit. She arched off the chair and her hand closed hard in his hair, and the reaction came straight down his own opened nervous system and lit the same nerve in him, wet heat in his mouth and her pulse under his tongue and the small teeth mark coming up white on the areola, and his cock stood up in his jumpsuit so hard the zipper pressed it back and he grunted against her breast and she heard the grunt and laughed at him, close to his ear.

"Now you," she said. "One of you doesn't get to be the only one feeling things, strip, get up."

He stood up out of the chair and unzipped the jumpsuit and pulled it down off his shoulders and shoved it to the floor, and he stood there in the violet and the smoke with his cock standing out of the short dark hair and already wet at the tip, and he was aware of every square centimeter of his own skin, the cool of the sanctum on his shoulders, the heat under his arms, the air moving on his cock like fingers, and he was aware behind all of it, at the far end of the table, of Jelani Adebayo sitting motionless in the dark with his pale yellow eyes open and his hands folded, and Tommie did not care, he had taken the terms, and he turned away from the man and back to Hazel and she had stood up too, the bodysuit shoved off her hips and puddled around her ankles, and she was naked except for the data-link cuff, and she came into him at once and her whole front was against his front and her mouth was on his throat, teeth and tongue and hot breath, and the contact of all of it, belly on belly, her pubic bone on his thigh and his cock hard in the crease of her hip, ran through the compound like current through a wet hand, and he heard himself moan and did not care who heard it.

Her hand went down between them and closed on his cock, fitted, sure, the four fingers stacked, and she pulled it once root to tip, slow, root to tip, and stroked her thumb over the glans and spread the wet around it, and his knees almost gave, the sensation was not local anymore, was not in his cock, it was in his spine and his jawbone and the soles of his feet.

"Last time you came on my stomach in under a minute," she said into his neck. "This one's three hours long, technician. Pace yourself."

He got his hand between her legs and found her with two fingers and she was open and slick and hot, and he worked the two in and found the front wall, the ridge of it, and drew them down and out, and she bit his shoulder and the muscle jumped in her jaw and her hand closed hard on the base of his cock and held it, holding him still, holding the whole night.

She held him there, the whole length of him in her fist and no movement in it, and he knew the hold for what it was, a leash, and he stayed on it, breath hard through his nose, hand still working her, two fingers drawing down and out of her and back in, and every stroke of it came back at him through the compound so that he could not tell anymore which of them was being touched.

Then she let go and stepped back out of his hands.

He made a sound. She ignored it. She turned her head, slow, toward the far end of the table, and Tommie followed her look because he had to, because the room had one other thing alive in it and both of them had been aware of it the whole time.

Jelani Adebayo had not moved. He sat in the dark at the head of the obsidian, hands folded on the vest, the gold chain lying quiet against his chest, and his pale yellow eyes were open and fixed and doing the only work the man did. They tracked. When Hazel's hand had closed on Tommie's cock, the eyes had gone to the hand. When Tommie's fingers had gone into her, the eyes had followed them down between her legs and stayed there, and now, when Hazel stepped back, the eyes came up her body one station at a time, hip to ribs to breast to throat, unhurried, exact, the way a man reads a gauge. There was no leer in it. Leering was for men who wanted something. This was a man taking readings.

"Keep going," Jelani said. His voice came out into the smoke low and level. "You were in the middle of something."

Hazel looked back at Tommie, and the small sharp corner of her mouth pulled, and he understood her exactly: she was deciding to give the man his show on her own terms, and the terms were that Tommie would not be able to tell the difference.

She took his wrist and walked him backward to the middle of the room, and the obsidian under his bare feet was cool and seamless, and she put her hands flat on his chest and pushed until his back met the long table and his ass and thighs hit the edge of it and he sat down onto the cold stone, and the cold on his balls and the backs of his thighs ran up through him like something poured.

She climbed onto him. Knee on the stone either side of his hips, and her hands on his shoulders, and she brought her cunt down onto his cock with one slow drop, no fingers to guide it, just the wet push of her opening around the head and then all of her sinking down the shaft in one long station of contact, and both of them made a noise at once, hers a low grunt bitten off at the back of her throat, his a long ragged breath he could not keep behind his teeth.

"Fuck," he said.

"Yes," she said, and began to move.

She rode him slow. She had always ridden him slow at the start, a dancer's pace, hips rolling front to back and the small muscles at the top of her thighs working under the pale skin, and with the compound in her it was not a pace at all anymore, it was a sequence of separate events, and he felt every one of them arriving in order. The grip of her inner walls easing and tightening around the shaft. The drag of the head against the front wall of her, that ridge he had found with his fingers, and she leaned back and found the angle herself and set the head drumming into it, and her grey eyes went unfocused for a half second each time and came back.

Across the room the eyes tracked.

Jelani had stood up. He had not come closer; he stood behind the chair at the head of the table with one hand resting on its back, and his height put him up out of the violet haze, and his face above the gold chain was very still. His eyes went where her hips went. When she rocked forward the eyes came forward with her. When she leaned back the eyes followed the arch of her spine down to where the two of them were joined, and stayed, and Tommie, with the compound opening every channel he owned, felt the man's attention land on the wet juncture of them and read the exact shape it made, the shine of her around his shaft, the small white ring of it at the base of him.

"Good," Jelani said. "You have been practicing. Both of you."

"Shut up," Hazel said, not to him, more to the room, and did not stop.

She fucked him harder. The slowness went out of it all at once and the pace came on and the table took the pace, the whole slab of obsidian reporting each stroke up through Tommie's sit bones and into his spine, and he got his hands onto her hips and took hold of the small hard bone of them and helped, pulled her down onto himself at the bottom of each drop, and the noise she made at that was the first noise meant for him and not for her own tally, a short open-mouthed breathy sound he had heard maybe five times in three years.

"Harder than that," she said. "It is still shouting."

He leaned back off his hands and braced on them and drove up into her from below, hard, and the slap of it was loud in the obsidian room and the incense smoke broke and curled at the edges of the table, and Hazel's head dropped back and her mouth opened and she put one hand behind her on his knee and used it for leverage and rode him down into the stone.

He watched her come. He had watched her come before, in the apartment, in the blue room, in the cheap berth on the C-tier transit ring, and it had never gone into him the way it went now, all the way in and up, the tightened jaw, the bridge of the foot, the four fingers digging into his knee, the small muscles under the ribs pulling tight, and then the whole architecture of her letting go from the top down, and the cunt around his cock gripping in sequence, clench and release and clench, and pulling him down the shaft toward the end of it. His balls drew up. The wire inside him lit.

Not yet, he told himself, and did not have a choice.

She finished with her forehead on his shoulder and her breath shuddering in his ear, and she ground out the last of it on him, small slow circles with her hips, and he held still and did not let it take him, and she knew, she could feel it in him, and she said into his neck, "Not yet, tech, hold it," and he held it.

Then she swung off him and off the table and stood on her own two feet a moment, unsteady, sweat running down the centerline of her chest, and she looked at the man at the head of the room and she looked at Tommie and she said, to Jelani, in her even, hostess's voice, "You recording this."

"The lenses do not miss much," Jelani said.

"Good," she said. "Then watch the next part, and watch it closely, because this is the part that does not happen when the data is a technician's vitals."

She pushed Tommie back flat onto the cold table, and she got up on it after him, and she straddled his chest with her knees, and she brought her cunt down over his face, and the moment her weight settled onto his mouth the compound ran through him like the current finding a full circuit, the taste and the heat and the smell all of it arriving at once and at volume, and he put his hands under her thighs, and he began to eat her while Jelani Adebayo watched.

He had not been at this long when the sound came from the head of the table, and the sound was the chair.

Jelani Adebayo leaned forward. It was one motion, slow and total, the whole length of him coming off the back of the chair and over the obsidian, forearms landing on the table's edge, and the weight of the man going into the stone so that Tommie felt the vibration through his own shoulders where he lay flat on it with Hazel's cunt down over his mouth. The seated stillness was gone off the man like a coat. What was left underneath was a forward lean with nothing measured in it, the pale amber eyes fixed low and close on the two of them, and the gold chain swinging forward off his chest to hang in the violet air.

Hazel felt the shift too. She had her knees planted wide on the cold table and her weight on Tommie's face and her hands braced behind her on his thighs, and she turned her head just enough to see the man at the head of the room and she did not stop what she was doing. She ground down instead. Slow, deliberate, dragging her slick cunt across Tommie's open mouth from chin to clit and back, and Tommie kept his tongue flat and let her use it and kept his hands hard under her thighs, and the taste of her was so loud in him he could hear it, salt and copper and the chemical sweetness of the compound coming back off her skin.

Jelani did not sit back.

He came around the table. It took him four steps and he did not hurry them, and the mesh of his shirt moved with the muscle underneath and the vest stayed black and uncompromised, and he stopped at the side of the table at arm's length, near enough that Tommie, with his head tipped back and his mouth full of Hazel, could see him from the wrong side up: the clean shaved skull, the jaw, the throat, and below the chain the unmistakable long shape standing against the inside of the man's trousers. He was hard. He had been hard for a while, and he was not hiding it, and that was the whole confession, the one thing all night that the man's stillness had not managed to sell.

"Keep her there," Jelani said. His voice had dropped a floor, out of the warm pitch he used for business and into something lower and coarser, and Tommie heard the change and felt it land in his own opened nerves. "Do not stop. I want to see what your mouth does to her when she is not performing for it."

"She is not performing," Tommie said, as much as a man can say it with his mouth busy, and went back in.

She came on his face. He worked her up to it on purpose, tongue on her clit and two fingers of his free hand pushed up into her and hooked, and Jelani stood over the pair of them and watched the whole mechanism of it, and when it broke Hazel's hands came off the table and got into Tommie's hair and held his head down against her and she fucked his mouth through it in short hard rolls, all the hostess gone out of her, just a small pale woman grinding herself off on a technician's tongue and swearing at him in a low steady stream while a black-market man stood a foot away and took in every detail with his hands at his sides and his cock straining the front of his trousers.

She climbed off. Tommie wiped his mouth on the back of his wrist and sat up on the table, and his own cock stood up off his belly wet and aching, and Jelani looked at it and then at Hazel and then at the glowing tray a meter away, and did not reach for it.

"Terms are terms," Jelani said, and it cost him something to say it, and Tommie heard the cost. "I watch."

"You watch," Hazel said. She swung her leg back over Tommie's lap and took his cock in her hand and fed it into herself in one push, facing away from him, her back to his chest, and dropped down onto it, and the pair of them both made the same low sound and Jelani's jaw tightened and held. Then Hazel looked back over her shoulder at the man, and her pale grey eyes were flat and cold and amused all at once.

"Sit," she said. "You are looming."

Jelani did not sit. He pulled the chair around to the side of the table instead and put one boot up on it and stayed leaning on the table's edge, closer now, close enough that when Tommie pulled Hazel down onto his cock and thrust up into her the man could have reached out and laid his hand on her hip if he had wanted to, and he did not, and the not-doing of it read in the room louder than the doing would have.

Tommie fucked her from underneath. He got his arm around her waist and his other hand flat between her shoulder blades and drove up into her, and the table took every stroke, and Hazel braced her hands on her own thighs and rolled her hips back to meet him, and it went on, and the compound turned the whole long sequence of it into one continuous report: the wet grip of her, the drag on the head of his cock, the slap of his balls on her ass, the sweat running down her spine into the small of her back where he could see it, and over her shoulder the black man with the amber eyes, leaning on the obsidian, breathing through his mouth now, watching exactly where the two of them were joined and not once looking away.

"You are close," Jelani said finally. Quiet.

"Yes," Hazel said.

"Do not finish in her."

Tommie's rhythm broke for a full stroke before he got it back. He looked past the sweat on Hazel's shoulder at the man, and the man looked back, and there was no threat in it, no leverage in it, only the hunger, plain, laid open on the table between the three of them with the tray of glowing fluid.

"Because you want to watch me spill it," Tommie said.

"Because I want to watch you decide," Jelani said, and spread his hand flat on the stone, and waited.

Tommie decided. He pulled out. Hazel made a small sound of protest and reached back for him, and he caught her wrist and took her off his lap and laid her down on the cold obsidian on her back, head toward the head of the table, and she understood and did not fight it, and she pulled her knees up and open and put her hand between her legs and held herself spread with two fingers, waiting, watching him.

He knelt up over her and took his cock in his own fist and stroked it, once, twice, and he was so close the whole thing was a bright wire pulled taut from the base of his spine to the tip, and Hazel's grey eyes were fixed on it, and Jelani's were fixed on it, no pretense left on the man's face at all.

"On her tits," Jelani said. "She has not earned the other."

Tommie's hand kept moving. "She earned it before you got hard."

"Then put it where you like," Jelani said, and Tommie did what he liked, which was to lean forward over Hazel and brace his fist on the stone beside her head and drive into her one more time, hard and deep, and pull out at the last second and spill it across her flat belly and the small hard ridge of her cunt, three long pulses of it, and Hazel arched under him and dragged his head down and held it, and over him Jelani Adebayo let out a slow breath through his teeth, and did not move an inch.
