Chapter 2: Building Tension
The train's wheels clattered against the tracks like a metronome ticking out a harsh rhythm, the motion lulling some passengers into a state of calm, but Ibu Aminah felt far from tranquil. The group of young men had hemmed her in, their laughter now a low, menacing growl that echoed through the carriage. The air was thick with their scent, a cloying mix of cheap cologne and stale sweat. Kwame, the leader, stood before her, his body blocking out the flickering fluorescent lights of the train.
His hands gripped her shoulders, the pads of his thumbs rubbing against the fabric of her shirt. Ibu Aminah could feel the heat radiating off him, the raw, primal energy that pulsed beneath his skin. She looked up at him, her eyes wide with fear and confusion.
"Get off her, you fucking pervert!" Aisyah's voice screamed through the phone, but it was like she wasn't even there, her voice just a distant echo in the chaos.
Kwame chuckled, a low, deep sound that reverberated in his chest.
"You're a feisty one, aren't you, sister? Ibu Aminah could see the sharp lines of his jaw, the stubble dark against his skin. She tried to turn her head away, but his grip tightened, his fingers digging into her shoulders.
"Let her go, you fucking piece of shit!" Aisyah's voice was a scream on the other end of the line, but it was like she was a million miles away. Ibu Aminah could barely hear her over the pounding of her own heart in her ears.
She looked around, desperate for help, but the other passengers seemed frozen, their eyes wide with fear and disbelief. None of them moved to intervene.
Kwame's grip on her shoulders tightened, and he leaned in closer, his breath hot against her face. "You know what, beautiful? I think it's time to teach you a lesson." His voice was a low growl, and Ibu Aminah could see the hunger in his eyes. She trembled, her body rigid with fear and disgust.
