Kennedy wants them to be playful and flirty, and praise her during the whole thing. They do this in an operating room. She wants them to tell her what they’re doing as they administer the anesthesia to make her unconscious in lots of detail. They’re very playful, flirty and horny during the whole thing. they explicitly consent.

Chapter 2: Owned in the Between

The single spike on the cardiac monitor felt like a physical blow. Daniel's hand tightened around Kennedy's wrist, the pulse hammering against his fingers – too fast, too alive. Beside him, Reece was pure motion, his blue eyes wide, all predatory hunger replaced by clinical terror. He jabbed a finger towards the IV pump. "Rate's set! Why isn't she under?" His voice cracked, barely a whisper above the ventilator's rhythmic sigh.

Kennedy's head shifted again on the pillow. A tiny sound escaped her parted lips – not a moan this time. A faint, questioning sigh. Her eyelids fluttered, lashes brushing pale skin. The tiny frown between her brows deepened.

"Shit, shit, shit," Daniel hissed, the words tasting metallic. He dropped Kennedy’s wrist and lunged for the drug tray, fingers scrabbling past discarded syringes for the vial of propofol. The smooth glass felt cold, grounding. "Airway?" he barked, ripping the plastic cap off a fresh syringe with his teeth.

"Patent, for now." Reece’s voice was tight, focused. He’d already tilted Kennedy’s chin back, checking her airway positioning. His other hand pressed the oxygen mask more firmly over her nose and mouth, watching the reservoir bag inflate and deflate. "Sat’s back to ninety-nine, but she’s tachycardic as hell. Pupils sluggish. She’s fighting it." He glanced down at her, his gaze flickering to where his hand had rested possessively low on her abdomen moments before. A muscle jumped in his jaw. "Danny… if she remembers…"

The implication hung, thick and suffocating. Medical licenses. Careers. Prison. The sterile air vibrated with the sudden, crushing weight of consequences. Daniel’s hands shook slightly as he drew the milky-white propofol into the syringe. He felt sick. The illicit thrill curdled into pure, icy dread. Adventure? Stupid. Reckless.

"Push it?" Reece asked, his eyes locked on Kennedy’s face. Her lips moved again, forming silent shapes. Please? Stop?

Daniel hesitated, the syringe poised over the IV port. The standard bolus dose could tip her over the edge into dangerous territory. Too little, and she might surface fully, aware of the wet heat still lingering on her feet, aware of their frantic panic, aware of everything. "Small bolus," he decided, his voice rough. "Twenty milligrams. Now." He injected it quickly, smoothly, watching the fluid vanish into the line.

They both held their breath. The ventilator hissed. The monitors chirped. Kennedy’s brow smoothed slightly. The restless movement of her head ceased. Her breathing deepened again, the rise and fall of her chest under the thin gown more rhythmic, less agitated.

Reece let out a shaky breath, his shoulders slumping. He kept the oxygen mask pressed firmly. "HR dropping… eighty… seventy-five…" He watched the monitor like a hawk. "Sat steady. Pupils?" He lifted an eyelid again, shining the penlight. The pupil contracted slowly, but fully this time. "Better. Delayed, but better. Deeper now." He sounded like he was convincing himself.

The green lines on the monitors settled back into their steady, reassuring dance. The immediate crisis was passing, leaving behind a hollowed-out silence filled only by the mechanical sounds of the room and the frantic pounding of their own hearts.

Daniel slumped against the gurney rail, the adrenaline crash hitting him like a truck. He wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead with the back of his gloved hand. "Jesus, Reece." He stared down at Kennedy’s peaceful face, the fiery hair stark against the white. "She… she almost woke up. While we were…" He couldn’t finish the thought. The image of her toe twitching beneath his tongue flashed in his mind, visceral and terrifying.

Reece didn’t look at him. His gaze was fixed on Kennedy, but his focus seemed inward. His knuckles were white where he gripped the edge of the gurney. "I know." A beat of heavy silence. "Felt like my heart stopped." He finally dragged his eyes away from her, meeting Daniel’s. The fear was still there, raw in the blue depths, but beneath it, something else flickered. A dark ember, refusing to be extinguished. "She wanted this, Danny. She asked for this. The risk… it was part of it for her." His voice dropped to a low, strained whisper. "Did you see her? Even fighting it? That whimper…"

Daniel remembered. The tiny sound, caught between fear and something else. Something that had sent a jolt through him even in the midst of the panic. He looked back at Kennedy. Utterly still. Utterly vulnerable. The near-disaster hadn't erased the illicit beauty of her surrender; it had coated it in a dangerous, forbidden sheen. The dread still coiled in his gut, cold and heavy, but intertwined with it now was a twisted thread of exhilaration. They’d almost lost control. They’d almost been caught. And they’d pulled her back from the edge. Theirs.

Reece moved then. Not towards the drugs, not towards the monitors. He stepped close to Kennedy’s head, his gloved hand hovering for a moment before his thumb brushed across her parted lips. The touch was deliberate, claiming. Possessive. He traced the curve of her lower lip.

Kennedy’s body reacted instantly, even in the depth of the renewed sedation. A subtle arch against the thin sheet, a reflexive press into the touch. Her pulse on the monitor spiked again – a quick jump, then settled. Not a waking spike. A different kind.

Daniel watched, mesmerized, the fear momentarily eclipsed. He leaned down beside Reece, his own breath warm against Kennedy’s ear, his lips almost brushing the delicate shell. "You feel that, sweetheart?" he murmured, his voice low and thick with a mix of residual terror and rekindled hunger. "That’s us owning you." He watched her face, the absolute stillness, the absolute surrender. "All ours. Deep down."

Reece’s thumb pressed slightly against her lip, parting it further. He held Daniel’s gaze over her, the shared understanding burning hotter than before, forged in the crucible of near-disaster. The danger hadn't destroyed the thrill; it had amplified it, made it electric.

Then, as the heavier dose of propofol fully dragged Kennedy back under, a sound escaped her slack mouth. Not a sigh of fear this time. A low, helpless whimper. Vibrating with something far darker than oblivion. Pleasure. Utterly surrendered. Utterly claimed. The sound hung in the sterile air, a fragile, dangerous filament connecting their terror to their triumph, before she finally sank into the silent depths.

The sterile air vibrated with the fading echo of her whimper, a ghost of pleasure clinging to the antiseptic chill. Daniel stared at the steady green line tracing Kennedy’s heartbeat, his own pulse still hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird. He blinked, the stark overhead lights suddenly too bright, revealing the faint tremor in his hands. "Fuck, Reece. That was... closer than I ever want to get again." He wiped his damp forehead with the sleeve of his scrub top, leaving a faint smear.

Reece hadn't moved, his gaze still locked on Kennedy’s slack face, his thumb resting lightly on her lower lip. The predatory focus was back, sharper now, honed by the adrenaline crash. "You mean you didn't enjoy the thrill?" he murmured, a muscle jumping in his jaw. He finally lifted his hand, slowly, deliberately, letting his knuckles graze the curve of her cheekbone. "Watching her almost surface... knowing exactly what she was feeling... what we were doing." He turned his head, meeting Daniel’s wide eyes. A slow, unnerving grin spread across his face, devoid of its usual easy charm. "Admit it. The edge is where it gets interesting."

Daniel swallowed hard, the metallic taste of fear still coating his tongue. He looked from Reece’s intense stare down to Kennedy, impossibly still under the thin sheet. The memory of her arching reflexively against Reece’s touch, that helpless whimper – it ignited a different kind of heat low in his belly, clashing violently with the icy dread. "Interesting? Try career-ending prison sentence territory, man. One wrong move, one nurse walking in..." He gestured vaguely towards the heavy OR doors.

"Yeah, yeah, jail. Ruined lives. Heard you the first time," Reece said, his voice dropping lower, becoming almost conspiratorial. He picked up a syringe filled with saline, tapping the air bubble out with a sharp flick of his finger. The sound was unnaturally loud. "But look at her. Perfectly stable now. Deep under. And she begged for this. Remember that party? ‘I need to feel completely gone,’ she said. ‘While you play.’" He mimicked Kennedy’s breathy voice with unsettling accuracy. "This is the play." He leaned in closer to Kennedy’s ear, his breath stirring a strand of fiery red hair. "Isn't it, K?" His voice was a low purr. "We’re just giving you exactly what you wanted. Going deeper than you ever imagined."

Kennedy remained utterly still, her breathing deep and regular from the ventilator. Yet, beneath the sheet, her bare foot shifted infinitesimally. Daniel caught the movement, a tiny twitch of her toes against the crisp white linen. It wasn't conscious. It was reflex, neural pathways firing randomly in the deep drug haze. But the implication sent a fresh jolt through him. The line between unconscious response and potential awareness felt terrifyingly thin.

Daniel moved, not away, but closer. He placed a gloved hand lightly on Kennedy’s abdomen, feeling the subtle rise and fall beneath the gown. He could feel the warmth of her skin through the thin barrier. "Okay, fine. Maybe the edge is... captivating," he conceded, his voice rough. He met Reece’s challenging gaze over her body. "But we keep it locked down. No more surprises. We monitor everything. Every breath, every blip on the screen." He tapped the cardiac monitor for emphasis. "We control the descent. Not the drugs. Not her." He let his gaze travel slowly down the length of Kennedy’s restrained form. "And we finish what we started. Properly."

Reece’s grin widened, his blue eyes gleaming with dark approval. "Now you're talking, Danny boy." He picked up a gauze pad dampened with sterile water. "But first," he murmured, his focus shifting back to Kennedy’s face, "let's clean up the evidence." With surprising gentleness, he began dabbing at the faint trail of moisture glistening on the inside of her thigh. "Wouldn't want anyone wondering why our patient is...sticky." His thumb brushed the sensitive skin high on her inner leg, a deliberate, lingering touch. Kennedy’s breathing hitched – a subtle catch in the ventilator’s rhythm – before settling back into its artificial cadence.

Daniel watched, mesmerized, the earlier panic receding further, replaced by a thrumming anticipation. He traced a pattern with his fingertip on the sheet over her hipbone. "She feels that," he whispered, more to himself than Reece. "Deep down, she feels everything." He leaned in, his lips hovering near her ear again, his voice dropping to a velvet murmur that vibrated in the hushed room. "Don't you, sweetheart? You’re trapped in the deep, warm dark... feeling every single thing we do to you. Helpless. Ours." He paused, letting the implication sink into the silence. "And you’re loving every second of it."

The only answer was the steady hiss of the ventilator and the rhythmic beep of the monitors. But beneath the sheet, Kennedy’s thigh muscle tensed, just for a fraction of a second, under Reece’s cleaning touch. A silent, involuntary affirmation echoing in the tense quiet of the operating room. Reece froze, his gaze snapping to Daniel’s. The shared look held a universe of unspoken understanding – terror, triumph, and a terrifying, irresistible hunger to push just a little further into the dark, warm dark they’d created. The air crackled with the unsaid question: How deep could they truly take her before something broke?
