Chapter 6: Humiliation Ritual
The words hung between them, not as a question, but as a statement of fact, a detonation. Mark watched them land in Ben’s eyes, saw the shock fracture into something raw and hungry. Ben’s breath left him in a soft, punched-out groan.
For a second, nothing moved. Then Ben’s hands came up, not gently, and gripped the sides of Mark’s face. His thumbs dug into the hollows of his cheeks. His gaze was wild, unmoored, searching Mark’s expression for the joke, the trap. He found only a defiant, waiting heat.
“You don’t get to say that,” Ben breathed, his voice gravel. “You don’t get to just… unlock that door.”
“It’s already open,” Mark whispered back. He lowered himself, the motion fluid and deliberate, until his knees hit the floor. The rough carpet bit through the thin sweats. He looked up the long line of Ben’s body, at the stunned, aching want written plainly on his friend’s face. The power was a drug, thick and sweet in his veins.
His fingers hooked into the waistband of Ben’s sweatpants and underwear, pulling them down in one motion. Ben didn’t help. He just stood there, rigid, his hands falling to his sides, clenched into fists.
Mark didn’t hesitate. He leaned forward and took him into his mouth.
The taste was salt and skin and a profoundly familiar musk, now terrifyingly intimate. The weight, the feel—it was knowledge he’d had for years in showers and change rooms, now rendered obscene and electric. He heard Ben choke above him, a strangled, broken sound.
Then Ben’s hands were in his hair, not guiding, but clutching, fisting in the blonde strands. He wasn’t gentle. He pushed deeper, a frantic, testing thrust. Mark gagged, tears springing to his eyes from the sudden intrusion. He forced himself to relax his throat, to accept it. The submission was dizzying. A low, animal noise rumbled from Ben’s chest.
“Look at you,” Ben rasped, the words trembling. The mocking tone he’d aimed for cracked halfway through. “My perfect little… fucktoy.”
He said it like he was trying the label on, seeing if it fit the impossible scene. His hips began a shallow, tentative rhythm. Mark closed his eyes, losing himself in the mechanics, in the shocking intimacy of the act. His own body was responding, a warm, gathering tightness low in his stomach that had nothing to do with his own anatomy and everything to do with the sheer, degrading power of the moment.
Then Ben’s other hand groped down, fumbling over the fabric of Mark’s shirt before pushing underneath it. His palm was hot and rough. It found a breast, squeezed, his grip desperate and uncoordinated. It wasn’t pleasure-seeking. It was an act of possession, of furious confirmation.
The pain was sharp, bright. Mark moaned around Ben’s length, the sound vibrating, and the sensation made Ben shudder violently. The pain mixed with the rhythmic pressure in his mouth, with the dark thrill of his own obedience, and crested into a wave of shocking, undeniable pleasure. His body arched into Ben’s painful grip, a silent plea for more.
“Jesus Christ,” Ben hissed, his hips stuttering. He was unraveling, his controlled fury dissolving into pure, overwhelmed need. His thrusts became deeper, less measured. The hand in Mark’s hair tightened, holding him in place. “You like that? You actually…”
He didn’t finish. He just drove forward, his breathing a ragged soundtrack. Mark let him, tears cutting hot paths down his cheeks from the strain, from the devastating rightness of it. He was a tool being used, and the use felt like a purpose.
It was over quickly. Ben’s whole body locked, a taut bowstring. A guttural groan tore from him, one that sounded almost like anguish. He spilled into Mark’s mouth, his grip on hair and breast going impossibly tight before slacking all at once.
Silence flooded back, thick and viscous.
Ben stumbled back, pulling himself free, his sweatpants collapsing around his ankles. He looked down at Mark, who was still on his knees, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, breathing hard. Ben’s face was a portrait of ruin—sated, horrified, utterly lost.
Mark looked up at him, his vision blurred. He saw the victory, the shame, the terrifying new frontier etched into Ben’s features. He felt the aching throb in his breast, the sour taste on his tongue. A bizarre, breathless laugh bubbled in his chest.
Ben flinched at the sound. He yanked his pants up, his movements jerky with panic. He couldn’t meet Mark’s eyes. “Don’t,” he muttered, though Mark hadn’t spoken. “Just… don’t.”
He turned and fled, leaving his bedroom door swinging open behind him. A moment later, the front door of the apartment slammed shut, the impact rattling the walls.
Alone, Mark slowly pushed himself up. His knees ached. He walked to the cracked full-length mirror on Ben’s wall. The stranger stared back: flushed cheeks, swollen lips, hair mussed from Ben’s grip. The marks from Ben’s fingers were already blooming, faint red streaks against pale skin above the low neckline of his shirt.
He touched the sore spot, pressing until the pain cleared his head. The ghost of the pleasure still hummed beneath his skin, a traitorous echo.
He left Ben’s room and went to the kitchen. He took a glass from the cupboard, filled it with tap water, and drank it all down, washing away the taste. He leaned against the counter, listening to the empty silence of the apartment. The protein tub sat on the counter now, next to the microwave. It had migrated, a silent witness.
The front door didn’t reopen. Ben was gone, probably walking aimlessly through the sleeping city, trying to outrun what had just happened.
Mark’s phone, charging on the counter, lit up. A notification from the trial’s patient portal. Reminder: Phase 2 physiological monitoring window begins tomorrow. Ensure biosensor patch is adhered to clean, dry skin. Log any anomalous sensations.
Anomalous sensations. He almost laughed again. He powered the phone off.
He didn’t go back to his room. He sat on the worn living room sofa, in the dark, waiting. The memory played on a loop behind his eyes—the feeling of control as he’d issued the invitation, the terrifying loss of it as he’d followed through, the confusing fusion of pain and pleasure that felt less like an anomaly and more like a revelation.
He understood the rules now, truly. The contract, the performance, the rent money—they were just the skeleton. This was the bloody, beating heart of it. This was the price, and the reward, and he had just willingly fed himself to it.
The sky outside the grimy window began to lighten from black to deep indigo. He heard footsteps on the stairwell, slow and heavy. A key fumbled in the lock. The door opened.
Ben stood there, haloed by the weak dawn light from the hallway. He looked exhausted, emptied out. He smelled of cold night air and stale sweat. His eyes found Mark on the sofa. They held each other’s gaze across the dark room. No words. There were no words left that could possibly fit.
Ben walked past him, into the hallway. He didn’t go to his room. He went into the bathroom. The lock clicked. The shower turned on, a roar of water that filled the apartment with white noise.
Mark finally stood. His body felt heavy, used, settled. He walked to Ben’s door and looked in at the disheveled room, at the mirror that reflected only a fractured version of reality. He then went to his own room and closed the door.
He lay in bed, listening to the shower run and run. When it finally stopped, the silence was absolute. He heard Ben’s door close softly down the hall.
The barbecue was tomorrow. They would have to be Mia and Ben again. They would have to smile, to touch, to perform. The thought no longer filled him with dread. It felt like putting on a familiar jersey before a big game. The rules of the field were just different now.
He fell into a fitful sleep just as true morning arrived, his last conscious thought a replay of Ben’s shattered voice in the dark.
Look at you.
The dawn light felt accusatory. Mark woke not to an alarm, but to the phantom ache in his jaw and the tender, blooming bruises beneath his shirt. He lay there, listening to the empty apartment scream with what they’d done.
The protein tub on the dresser was just a thing now, its symbolic weight replaced by the actual, heavy memory of salt and skin. He rose, his body feeling both unfamiliar and too known. In the bathroom, he examined the faint yellowing marks on his chest—a receipt. He pressed a fingertip to one, and the echo of pain-pleasure made his stomach flip.
Ben’s door was still closed. The silence was a negotiated peace, brittle and thin. Mark made coffee, the routine movements anchoring him. The click of the lock broke the quiet. Ben emerged, dressed but disheveled, his eyes avoiding Mark’s. He went straight for the fridge, staring into its cool light.
“We need to get through today,” Ben said to the shelves, his voice raspy from disuse. “Just follow my lead at the barbecue. No deviations.”
“You mean no improvisation,” Mark said, leaning against the counter. He sipped his coffee, watching Ben’s back tense. “Like last night.”
Ben slammed the fridge door. The sound was too loud. He finally looked at Mark, his gaze hollowed out. “Last night was a system failure. It’s been contained. Today is a public demo. Stick to the script.”
“Whatever you say, director,” Mark replied, his tone flat. The power from last night was a low ember in his gut, banked but alive.
Derek’s backyard was a riot of noise and smoke. The team was a sea of familiar faces, but they saw Mia. Mark felt their eyes on him, on the way the sundress clung, on Ben’s hand splayed possessively on his lower back. Ben’s touch was correct, but it was all rigid performance—a sculpture of a couple.
“You guys are nauseating,” Derek laughed, shoving a beer into Ben’s free hand. “When’s the wedding?”
“Shut up, Derek,” Ben said, but he forced a chuckle. His thumb rubbed a small, tense circle on Mark’s spine. It felt like a warning.
Mark leaned into him, resting his head on Ben’s shoulder. “He’s just jealous,” Mark murmured, his voice pitched for the crowd. He looked up at Ben, letting his expression go soft and adoring. “My man takes such good care of me.”
Ben’s smile tightened. The team whooped. Mark felt the vibration of Ben’s forced laugh through his own body. Every compliant smile, every submissive touch was a thread pulled, unraveling Ben’s control stitch by stitch. He leaned close, his lips near Ben’s ear. “You’re shaking,” he whispered, just for him.
Ben’s hand slipped from his back to grip his hip, fingers digging in. It was pure reflex, an anchor in the charade. The pain was sharp, clarifying. Mark gasped, a soft, perfect sound that made a few guys glance over. He covered it with a giggle, nuzzling Ben’s neck. “Easy, tiger,” he breathed.
The sun bled into evening. The crowd dissipated, leaving them in a corner by the rusted swing set. The noise faded to a distant bassline. Ben dropped his hand, stepping back as if burned.
“We’re leaving,” he said, his voice raw. “Now.”
“They’re still watching from the kitchen,” Mark said quietly, not moving. He nodded subtly towards the house where Derek and a few others were silhouetted in the window. “Your exit needs work. It looks like a fight.”
Ben swore under his breath. He grabbed Mark’s arm, his grip too tight, and marched them towards the gate. His steps were long, furious. Mark hurried to keep up, the image of a chastised girlfriend. They didn’t speak in the car. The silence was a physical layer, smothering and hot.
Back in the apartment, Ben headed straight for the shower. The water ran for a long time. Mark waited in the living room, in the dark, tracing the memory of Ben’s fingers on his hip. The shower stopped. Ben emerged, a towel around his waist, his hair dripping. He didn’t go to his room. He stood in the hallway, a shadow carved from tension.
“It worked,” Ben said, not looking at him. “It sold. So we’re done.”
“Are we?” Mark asked. He stood up from the couch and walked towards him. The space between them charged with every step. “You held it together by choking the life out of my hip. What happens when you can’t touch me to steady yourself?”
Ben’s eyes flashed. “I don’t need to touch you.”
“Liar,” Mark said, simple and quiet. He stopped in front of him. The smell of Ben’s soap, the heat from his skin, it was all a trigger. The ember in his gut flared. “You need it as much as I do. You just hate wanting it.”
Ben’s control snapped. He grabbed Mark’s shoulders, shoving him back through the open door of his bedroom. They stumbled inside, Ben kicking the door shut behind them. He pushed Mark down onto the messy bed, following him down, his weight a familiar pressure.
“This is what you want?” Ben growled, his face inches away. His eyes were dark, furious, hungry. “This? Again?”
Mark didn’t answer with words. He wrapped his legs around Ben’s waist, rolling them until he was on top. He straddled Ben, pinning his wrists to the mattress with a strength that surprised them both. He looked down, his blonde hair a curtain around their faces.
The power was absolute, electric. It hummed in his veins, cleaner than any beer, more potent than any try. Ben stared up, stunned, breathless, completely his.
Mark smiled, slow and sure. He leaned down, his lips brushing Ben’s ear.
“Ok babe,” Mark whispered, his voice a low, thrilling promise. “Let’s go again.”
Mark held Ben’s wrists down, feeling the corded tendons strain against his grip. The power was a live wire in his hands. He lowered his chest, pressing the soft weight of his breasts against the hard, defined plane of Ben’s abdomen. The heat of their skin met through the thin fabrics of the dress and the towel.
He leaned down, his lips a hair’s breadth from Ben’s. He could taste the stale beer on Ben’s breath, see the pulse hammering in his throat.
“Do you want this pussy, Daddy?” Mark asked, his voice a seductive rasp that was entirely foreign and completely deliberate.
Ben’s eyes were wide, black pools of pure shock in the dim room. His body, which had been rigid with resistance, gave a single, full-body tremor. A choked, helpless sound escaped his lips, a surrender that was more profound than any shout.
Then his hands tore free from Mark’s grasp. They flew to Mark’s hips, fingers digging into the flesh above the dress’s hem, biting deep. It wasn’t a rejection. It was an anchor, a claim. He dragged Mark down against him, a rough, grinding motion that knocked the air from both of them.
“Stop talking,” Ben breathed, his voice shredded. “Just… stop.”
He rolled them, reversing their positions with a frantic, clumsy strength. The cracked mirror on the wall reflected a blur of motion, a tangle of limbs and fabric. He buried his face in the curve of Mark’s neck, his breath hot and ragged. His hands were everywhere, tracing the geography of this new body with a frantic, urgent need that felt like panic.
Mark arched beneath him, a laugh catching in his throat. It was a sound of pure, unadulterated triumph. “Make me.”
Ben’s head snapped up. His eyes, dark and dilated, fixed on Mark’s. The challenge hung in the air between them, a live wire. He exhaled a sharp, frustrated breath that was almost a laugh.
“You think this is a game?” he whispered, his voice gravelly. His hands, which had been gripping Mark’s hips, went still.
“Everything’s a game,” Mark breathed back. He shifted against Ben, a deliberate roll of his pelvis. “You taught me that. I’m just playing now.”
That did it. Something in Ben’s expression shattered. All the calculated restraint, the performative anger, evaporated. What replaced it was raw and unvarnished. He surged up, capturing Mark’s mouth with his own.
It wasn’t a kiss. It was a collision. Teeth clacked. Ben’s hands tangled in Mark’s hair, pulling his head back to deepen the angle. The taste was coffee and panic and a deeper, familiar salt. Mark moaned into his mouth, the sound startled out of him.
He kissed back with equal ferocity. This was a scrum, a grapple, translated into a different language of flesh. He bit Ben’s lower lip, felt him flinch and then groan, his grip tightening. The dress was a frustrating barrier. Mark’s hands shoved at the towel around Ben’s waist, freeing him.
Ben broke the kiss, breathing ragged. He looked down at where their bodies met, his expression one of pure, devastated hunger. “Fuck,” he muttered, the word filled with awe and self-loathing.
Then his mouth was on Mark’s neck, sucking a mark into the skin there. His hands pushed the straps of the sundress down, baring him. The cool air hit Mark’s skin, followed by the scorching heat of Ben’s palms. He cupped Mark’s breasts, his touch less frantic now, more certain.
His thumbs swept over the peaks, and a jolt of sensation, startling in its intensity, shot through Mark. He gasped, his back arching. It wasn’t just physical. It was the sheer, undeniable fact of it—Ben, his friend, his roommate, touching him like this, here, in this room that smelled of their old life.
Ben watched his face, studying every reaction. “You like that?” he asked, his voice thick.
Mark could only nod, his eyes closed. The complexity of it was overwhelming—the mechanics so foreign, the pleasure so immediate and shocking. Ben lowered his head and took him into his mouth. Mark cried out, a short, sharp sound. His hands fisted in Ben’s hair.
The sensation was unbelievable, a direct line of white-hot feedback that erased every thought. His hips moved, seeking more. Ben’s arms wrapped around his waist, holding him in place, devouring him with a single-minded focus that left Mark trembling.
It was too much. He was hurtling toward a cliff edge he didn’t understand. He pulled at Ben’s hair. “Stop. Wait.”
Ben froze immediately, lifting his head. His lips were wet, his breathing shallow. He searched Mark’s face, confusion and concern wiping away the lust for a second. “What? Did I—”
“I need you,” Mark gasped, the words tumbling out before he could think. The feeling wasn’t just in his chest anymore; it was a deep, hollow ache between his legs, a desperate, physical want that overrode pride or fear. “Ben, please. I need to feel you.”
Understanding dawned in Ben’s eyes, slow and then all at once. It was followed by a wave of something like tenderness, fractured and wary. He leaned forward, resting his forehead against Mark’s. Their breath mingled, hot and quick.
“You’re sure?” Ben whispered. It was the most honest question he’d asked in weeks.
Mark answered by kissing him again, softer this time. He guided Ben’s hand down, past the bunched fabric of the dress, over the curve of his hip. His own fingers traced the hard line of Ben’s arousal. “Yes.”
They moved together in a clumsy, urgent dance. Ben fumbled in his nightstand drawer, his hand emerging with a small foil packet. The rustle was loud in the quiet room. He sheathed himself, his hands shaking.
Mark lay back, pulling Ben down over him. The weight was crushing, perfect. Ben hesitated, propped on his elbows, looking down at him. The posters of football legends watched from the walls, silent witnesses to this ruin of their old world.
“Look at me,” Mark said, his voice husky.
Ben did. His eyes were wide, vulnerable. Mark wrapped his legs around Ben’s waist, drawing him closer. The first push was a slow, devastating pressure, a stretching fullness that stole the air from Mark’s lungs. It hurt, a bright, clean pain that immediately bled into something else.
Ben buried his face in Mark’s neck, a low groan vibrating against his skin. He began to move, a slow, deep rhythm. Each thrust was a discovery, a violation, a homecoming. Mark’s body accepted him, adjusted, then began to clench around him, seeking its own blinding, unfamiliar release.
The sounds in the room were raw and unfiltered—the slap of skin, the creak of the bed, their ragged breathing. Mark’s mind fragmented. He was here, in this bed, this body. He was also watching from the cracked mirror, a blonde stranger wrapped around his best friend.
The pleasure built, a coiled spring tightening in his core. It was nothing like before. It was deeper, consuming, a wave gathering force from a place he never knew existed. He clutched at Ben’s back, his nails digging in. Ben’s pace increased, becoming rougher, more desperate.
Mark’s vision blurred at the edges. A high, keening sound escaped his throat. He was coming apart. He turned his head, his lips against Ben’s ear, his voice a broken, ecstatic rasp as the sensation overtook him.
“Oh god, Ben… I’m your girl, babe,” Mark moaned, the words torn from him by a shuddering, final wave of pleasure that wiped his mind blank. His body arched, tightened, then dissolved into long, pulsing contractions.
