Ms Americana, superheroine and savior of Delta City. Her powers come from suppressed sexual desires. If she ever orgasms, she becomes weak. She will resist all sexual touches as much as she can though she secretly wants them.

Chapter 3: The Shower's Torment

The key scraped in the lock like it was fighting her. Valerie stumbled into the loft’s silent darkness, the echo of the steelworks still ringing in her bones. Not the sounds—the sensations. The brutal grab, the twist of fabric and flesh. Her own power, turning traitor.

She didn’t turn on the lights. She moved through the familiar space by memory, a ghost in her own home. The smell of the fight was on her—cordite, rust, and the sharp, animal scent of her own fear-sweat. It clung to the skintight material of her Ms. Americana suit, a second skin she now wanted to peel off with pliers.

The bathroom door clicked shut behind her, the lock a solid, final sound. She flicked the switch. The single fluorescent bar in the ceiling buzzed awake, casting a sickly, blue-white glare over the tiles. Everything was white, gray, chrome. A sterile cell. The mirror showed a stranger: red hair matted with dust and sweat, green eyes wide and hollow, the vibrant costume a garish joke against the pallor of her face.

Her fingers fumbled with the seals at her neck. The material, designed to withstand anti-tank rounds, gave way with a hushed sigh. She peeled it down her body, the inside damp. Each inch of revealed skin flinched, hypersensitive. The cool air was an assault. When the suit pooled at her feet, she kicked it into the corner like something dead.

She stood naked under the buzzing light. The shower stall, with its frosted glass door, looked like a refuge. She turned the handle all the way to hot. Water roared in the pipes, a promise of scouring.

Steam billowed, fogging the mirrors, softening the hard edges of the room. She stepped in. The water hit her shoulders like molten needles. She gasped, tilting her head back, letting it drum against her skull. She willed it to burn away the memory—the grimy hands, the clinical touch in Julian’s office, the whole tangled knot of want and revulsion.

It didn’t work.

Her skin was a map of remembered touches. The base of her spine where the shock round had hit thrummed a dull echo. Her breasts ached, not from injury, but from a phantom, grinding pressure. The heat between her legs was a concentrated forge, pulsing in time with the shower’s beat. It was the unfinished business from Julian’s chair, amplified, given teeth.

“Stop,” she whispered to the steam. Her voice was raw.

Her hands braced against the cold tile. She pressed her forehead to it. The water coursed down her back, her thighs. It was just water. It wasn’t enough. The need was a living thing, coiled tight in her belly, whispering. It had been fed, teased, and then violently triggered. It wouldn’t be silenced by will alone. Not this time.

Her right hand unclenched from the tile. It moved as if separate from her, a creature with its own desperate intelligence. It found the detachable shower head on its hook. Her fingers closed around the chrome. The cord unspooled.

She didn’t look down. Her breath hitched, fogging the glass in quick bursts.

The spray was on the setting called “pulse.” A hard, rhythmic jet. Her mind was a white blank of static. Her hand guided the nozzle, the water now beating a frantic tattoo against her inner thigh. A flinch. A tremor. A shift of angle.

The jet hit her clitoris directly.

The sensation was an electric bolt, stark and shameless. A sharp, shocked cry ripped from her throat, swallowed by the steam and the water’s roar. Her knees buckled. Her shoulder slammed into the tile wall, holding her up. Her eyes screwed shut.

This was the calculus. A quick, mechanical release. A pressure valve. She could do this. She had done this, in her weakest moments, always with a grim, utilitarian fury. Five minutes of shameful, lonely friction to take the unbearable edge off the constant hunger, to keep the power stable. To maintain control.

But now, the edge wasn't just hunger. It was a chasm. And Julian’s voice was in her head, cold and observant. The exquisite tension. You are so close to it.

The water pounded. The pleasure built, a linear, terrifying ascent. It was working. The coil inside her began to vibrate, to unfurl. The power in her veins sang a higher, keener note. She was approaching the threshold. The cliff. The collapse.

Her orgasm was a shape in the dark, waiting for her. And on its other side was nothing. No strength. No flight. No invulnerability. Just a woman, naked and helpless on a wet floor, for hours. Anyone could walk in. He could walk in.

The veto, as Julian had named it, slammed down.

It wasn’t a thought. It was a primal shriek from the deepest, most terrified part of her psyche. NO.

Her hand wrenched the shower head away, flinging it. It cracked against the opposite wall, the pulsing jet now whipping erratically across the ceiling. Her body, cheated of its climax, convulsed. A raw, animal sob tore out of her. It was a physical pain, a brutal cramping in her gut and pelvis, as if something vital had been ripped loose. She slid down the wall, collapsing into the streaming water, her back against the tile, legs splayed.

The throbbing didn’t stop. It intensified. A hot, angry ache that was both demand and punishment. She drew her knees up, wrapping her arms around them, shaking. Water from the runaway shower head rained down on her, cool now, mixing with the hot tears on her face.

She stayed there until the water in the tank ran cold. The icy shock finally stilled her trembling. She reached up, numbly, and turned the knob. Dripping silence rushed in, broken only by the slow, rhythmic plink… plink… plink of the faucet into the tub.

She was empty. And yet, she was still full. The power hummed, undischarged. The need gnawed, unsatisfied. She had denied the release, but she had paraded herself right up to its gates. The vault, as Julian called it, was still locked. But the lock itself was now the source of the pain.

She crawled out of the tub, leaving wet footprints on the mat. She didn’t towel off. Water dripped from her hair, her fingertips, her nipples, tracing cold paths down her skin. She caught her reflection in the fogged mirror—a blurred impression of pink skin and dark eyes.

Her phone, discarded on the bathroom counter, lit up. A notification. Then another. News alerts.

BREAKING: MS. AMERICANA FALTERS? HOSTAGES RESCUED BUT HERO SEEN FLEEING SCENE.

EYEWITNESS: “SHE JUST FLEW OFF. LOOKED HURT.”

ANALYSIS: A RARE MISSTEP FOR THE CITY’S GUARDIAN.

A third notification wasn’t a news alert. It was a calendar reminder for tomorrow, Friday. Session with Dr. Cross. 4:00 PM.

The screen went dark. In the silence, the dripping faucet was the loudest thing in the world.

A beat of pointless endurance.

A countdown to the next session.

She stared at the black rectangle of her phone. He would have seen the news. He would have his theories. He would be waiting.

A strange, cold clarity seeped through the exhaustion. He wasn't just a therapist uncovering a wound. He was a sculptor, and her need was his clay. Tonight’s failure in the shower proved it. The old methods were broken. She was adapting to his experiment, and the adaptation was making her weaker.

She needed a counter-move. Something he wouldn’t expect.

Her gaze drifted from the phone to the discarded heap of her superhero suit in the corner. The bright blue and red fabric looked garish, absurd. A costume for a creature that no longer existed. She looked back at her reflection, at the naked, shivering woman with the defiant eyes.

An idea, fragile and terrifying, began to form. It wasn’t about resisting the touch. It was about controlling the narrative of the release. If the veto was autonomic, rooted in fear… what if she could reframe the fear? Not as a loss of power, but as a transfer of power?

It was a thin thread of logic, spun from desperation. But it was all she had.

She picked up a towel, finally, and rubbed her hair roughly. The friction felt good, real, something she commanded. She walked into the bedroom, ignoring the chill. She went not to her closet of civilian clothes, but to a large, locked trunk at the foot of her bed. The trunk for her other life.

She keyed in the combination. The latch popped.

Inside, folded with precise care, lay the trappings of Valerie Vance, professional dominatrix. Lustrous black leather. Polished steel hardware. Severe, beautiful lines meant to command, to constrain, to project absolute authority. The tools of a very different kind of control.

She ran her fingers over a corset’s stiff ribs. The leather was cool, impersonal. Powerful.

She didn’t take anything out. She just looked. The humming in her veins seemed to quiet, as if recognizing a different frequency.

Tomorrow, she would go to see Dr. Julian Cross. But she wouldn’t go as his patient, Miss Smith, searching for a cure. She wouldn’t go as Ms. Americana, a hero on the brink.

She would have to go as someone else. Someone who understood locks. And keys.

She closed the trunk lid, the sound a soft, decisive thud in the quiet loft. The dripping from the bathroom continued its endless, patient rhythm.
