Chapter 1: Brutal Battle in the Warehouse
The cry was a sharp, choked thing, swallowed almost immediately by the cavernous gloom of the warehouse. Ruby froze, one booted foot hovering above a pile of corroded metal scraps. The air tasted of rust and old oil, and the only light came in fractured, dusty shafts from windows shattered a decade ago.
She moved, a shadow in red latex. The mask clung to her skin, its internal feed painting the world in shades of thermal green and amplified sound. Her heart was a steady drum in her ears, but her breath was silent.
Around a corner of what was once a sorting bay, she found them. Four men, their heat signatures blooming orange and yellow in her vision, clustered around a fifth figure bound to a support beam with zip-ties. The victim—a large man, slumped—was radiating the dull blue of fading body heat, of shock.
“Just tell us where the ledger is, cop. We know you took it.” The voice was a gravelly snarl.
A cop. Shit.
Ruby didn’t announce herself. She dropped from the rusted catwalk, the impact echoing like a gunshot in the silent space.
“The fuck—” The nearest thug, a mountain with a shaved head, turned. She drove her knee into his solar plexus before the word was out. The air left him in a pained whoosh. The element of surprise lasted about two seconds.
The next one was quicker, lunging with a flick knife. She sidestepped, grabbed his wrist, and used his momentum to crack his arm over her knee. The snap was sickeningly loud. His scream was louder.
But there were four. Hands grabbed her from behind, thick arms wrapping around her torso, pinning her own arms to her sides. The smell of stale sweat and cheap cigarettes filled her nostrils.
“Got the little mascot!” the man behind her grunted.
Another one, leering, stepped in front of her. He was younger, with a cruel twist to his mouth. “Look at this. All dressed up for us.” His hand, rough and calloused, slapped her ass cheek. The latex squeaked under the impact, a sting of shame flaring beneath the cool material. “Fucking pervert.”
“Just get the mask off,” the leader barked, watching from near the bound detective.
The younger one’s hands moved. Not for the mask. He groped her breast, squeezing hard through the latex. Ruby bucked and twisted, but the man holding her was too strong. Fear, cold and slick, coiled in her gut alongside the burning fury.
“Feisty,” the younger thug chuckled. His hand slid down her stomach, over the sleek material, and cupped her roughly between her legs. Ruby went utterly still. “Oh, she likes it. Feel that?”
She didn’t. She hated it. But her body, traitorous and primal, reacted to the aggressive pressure. A spark, unwanted and electric, fizzed in her core. Humiliation burned her cheeks.
His fingers found the seam of her suit, a functional opening. He didn’t bother with the seal. He just shoved two fingers inside her, through the opening in the latex.
Ruby gasped. It was a violation, a brutal, shocking invasion. But his fingers were inside her, moving with a crude, relentless rhythm, exploiting her body’s mechanical response. The friction, the pressure—it was wrong, it was vile, but a deep, autonomic part of her was being forcibly awakened. A tight, hot coil began to wind in her lower belly, a wave building against her will. She bit her lip so hard she tasted blood, trying to anchor herself in that pain, but her hips gave a tiny, involuntary jerk.
“See?” the man grunted, his breath hot on her neck. “Fucking loves it.”
The orgasm, when it crashed into her, was a brutal, shameful convulsion. It ripped through her, a seismic pulse of pleasure woven inextricably with self-loathing. Her knees buckled, a choked sound escaping her lips. In that moment of vulnerable, post-climax shuddering, the man holding her loosened his grip, laughing.
It was all the opening she needed.
The fury returned, white-hot and clean. She drove her head back, feeling his nose crunch. His grip fell away. She spun, driving the heel of her palm up into the younger thug’s throat. He gagged, stumbling back, his bloody fingers slipping out of her. The taste of copper filled her mouth, her vision swam with unshed tears of rage, but she moved.
It was a blur of motion and rage. A disabling strike to a kneecap. An elbow to a temple. The leader went down last, catching a kick to the jaw that dropped him like a sack of bricks. The warehouse fell silent again, save for the moans of the injured men.
Panting, Ruby leaned against a pillar, the cool metal seeping through the latex. Her body still hummed with the awful, fading echo of the forced release. She felt raw, exposed. With trembling hands, she adjusted the suit, sealing the opening.
A low, pained voice cut through the silence. “Holy shit.”
She turned. The bound detective was awake, his head lifted, watching her. His face was bruised, one eye swollen shut, but the other was sharp, clear, and locked on her. It scanned her from head to toe—the skin-tight red suit, the disheveled mask, the obvious state of her.
“Sexy Mask,” he coughed. “I’ll be damned.”
She moved to him, pulling a tool from her belt to cut the zip-ties. “Can you walk?”
“Detective Allen. Marcus Allen.” His freed hands came up, rubbing his wrists. He didn’t take his eye off her. “You’re… bleeding.”
She touched her lip. “It’s nothing.”
“That was… something else.” His gaze was intense, scrutinizing. Not grateful. Assessing. “They’re wanted on four counts of aggravated assault. You just left them alive.”
“I’m not a killer.”
“No. You’re a vigilante. And you’re under arrest.” His movement was surprisingly fast for a beaten man. He lunged, not for a weapon, but for her mask, his fingers hooking toward the edge by her jaw.
Ruby reacted instinctively. She caught his wrist, twisting it, using his momentum to swing him around and slam him back against the support beam. He grunted, but his other hand came up, grabbing her hip, holding her body flush against his. He was big, solid. Heat radiated from him.
“Get off me, detective,” she snarled.
“Take off the mask. Let’s see who you really are.” His hand slid from her hip to the small of her back, pressing her closer. She could feel the hard line of his body, the coarse fabric of his trousers against the sensitive latex between her thighs. The residual sensations from before flared again, confused and potent.
“Fuck you,” she hissed, trying to knee him.
He shifted, blocking her, his thigh pushing insistently against her. The pressure landed right where she was already hypersensitive, swollen, aching from the violent intrusion. A fresh, shocking jolt of pleasure-pain shot through her. She gasped.
“You’re shaking,” he murmured, his voice low, his good eye dark and unreadable. His hand moved again, tracing the curve of her ass, not groping like the thug had, but with a deliberate, almost clinical pressure. “And this suit… it leaves nothing to the imagination, does it? You came here dressed like this. What did you expect would happen?”
“I expected to save your ungrateful ass,” she shot back, but her voice hitched as his palm pressed her more firmly onto his thigh. The rough texture of his pants, the solid muscle beneath, created a friction that made her traitorous body clench. The shame was back, hotter now, mixed with something else—a terrifying, unwanted arousal.
“You’re under arrest,” he repeated, but his voice had lost its conviction. It was husky. His thumb found the seam at the apex of her thighs, the same one the other man had violated. He didn’t penetrate her. He just pressed the flat of his thumb there, right over her clit, through the slick latex.
Ruby’s head fell back against the beam. A low moan escaped her, ripped from somewhere deep and defenseless. Her hips rocked, once, a tiny, helpless movement against his hand. It was an admission. Her body was betraying her completely, responding to the enemy who held her captive.
“That’s it,” he breathed, watching her face. He rubbed slow, firm circles. “Christ. You really are something.”
She wanted to fight. She needed to fight. But her muscles were liquid, her will fraying apart under the dual assault of sensation and humiliation. The coil wound again, tight and urgent, but this time it was his doing. Detective Marcus Allen, a man who thought she was a criminal, was making her come against a dirty post in a derelict warehouse.
It built faster than before, a tidal wave with no mercy. She came with a shattered cry, her body convulsing against his, her cunt pulsing around nothing, her gloves scrabbling against the metal behind her for purchase. Stars exploded behind her eyes.
When the waves subsided, leaving her trembling and hollow, his hand stilled. He was breathing heavily too. He slowly released her, stepping back as if burned. She slumped against the beam, utterly spent.
He stared at her, his expression a storm of confusion, anger, and something like awe. He wiped his thumb on his pants, a gesture of disgust—or was it distraction?
“Get out of here,” he said, his voice rough. “Before I change my mind.”
Ruby didn’t need telling twice. She pushed off the beam, her legs unsteady. She didn’t look back at him, or at the groaning men on the floor. She just ran, disappearing into the deeper shadows of the warehouse, the ghost of his touch and the sting of her own complicity seared into her skin.
Marcus Allen watched the red shadow vanish. He looked down at his hand, then at the criminals scattered around him. He pulled out his phone, his fingers clumsy.
“This is Allen. I need a bus and backup at the old Miller warehouse. Four suspects, incapacitated.” He paused, listening to the dispatcher. His good eye traced the path she had taken into the darkness. “No,” he said finally, the word tasting strange. “No sign of the vigilante. She was gone before I got loose.”
