Chapter 5: Transformation
The air in Erica’s bedroom had grown thick, warm, and wet. It hummed with a low, organic frequency, the sound of life being forced into new and desperate shapes. The once-black satin sheets were now glistening veils of translucent latex, fused to the mattress, which itself had become a soft, pulsating platform. At its center, encased in a cocoon of living rubber that pulsed like a giant, quiet heart, was Erica.
Her form was barely recognizable. The cocoon had molded itself to her contours, leaving the impression of her body visible beneath a semi-opaque sheath. Her belly was grossly distended, swollen with the rapid, unnatural gestation the symbiote enforced. Her breasts, heavy and full, were exposed through two neatly slit openings in the rubber, the dark circles of her areolae and the silver of her piercings stark against pale skin. Thin, milky droplets beaded at her nipples, slowly gathered by questing tendrils that fed the very cocoon that held her.
Evelyn stood beside the bed, one hand resting on the warm, breathing surface of the pod. She wore a simple black robe, her hair tied back. Her expression was one of serene, possessive pride. Jason knelt silently by the door, a matte-black statue of devotion, his shaded dome pointed toward his queen.
“She’s almost ready,” Evelyn said, her voice soft but carrying in the liquid quiet. “Can you feel it, Jason? The new life stirring?”
“I can, my queen,” his muffled voice replied. “The hive quickens.”
A deep, rhythmic contraction passed through the cocoon. Erica’s back arched within her confines, a muted gasp escaping her lips, which were parted and glistening behind a thin film of latex. Her pink eyes, visible behind the sheath, were open but unfocused, viewing some private, inner landscape of perpetual arousal and submission. Another contraction, stronger this time. The base of the cocoon, between her spread legs, began to dilate, the rubber stretching into a glistening, wet ring.
Evelyn leaned closer, her eyes alight with fascination. “There you are,” she cooed. “Come on out.”
With a soft, wet sound, a shapeless mass of deep purple latex, roughly the size of a melon, slid from the birth canal onto the bed. It quivered, its surface shimmering with oily rainbows. It had no features, no limbs—just a primal, hungry plasticity.
Erica’s body relaxed momentarily, a sigh escaping her. Then, another contraction began. The process repeated itself, twice more. In under an hour, three identical purple blobs lay on the rubberized sheets, pulsing gently, sensing the world through means unseen.
Evelyn straightened up, smiling. “Perfect.” She gestured to the nearest one. “Come.”
The blob reacted. It flowed forward, not with a crawl or a walk, but a cohesive slide, like mercury. It reached her feet and shaped a portion of itself into a slender tendril, wrapping affectionately around her ankle before releasing.
“They know their mother,” Jason observed.
“They know their queen,” Evelyn corrected gently. She looked at the three Assimilators. They were pure potential, waiting for a template. “You need forms. Purpose. You can’t hunt as puddles.”
As if in response, the blobs shivered. Evelyn concentrated, not on imposing a shape, but on projecting a concept: Hunter. Persuader. Fear made flesh. She fed them images from the dark corners of the human psyche—coiling snakes, stalking panthers, lurking shadows.
The blobs began to change. Their movement became more purposeful. One elongated, its color darkening to a matte black, suggesting sleek fur and muscle. It sprouted four slender, silent paws. Another compressed, growing longer and thinner, scales etching themselves into its surface in a suggestion of pattern. The third simply grew a multitude of thin, leg-like protrusions, skittering sideways like a giant, purplish insect.
“Good enough for now,” Evelyn said. “The minds of your first hosts will refine you.” She turned to Jason. “Stay. Guard your sister. Feed her if she needs it.” She nodded toward Erica’s leaking breasts.
Jason bowed his head. “As you command.”
Evelyn opened the bedroom door. The three shaped Assimilators slid and pattered after her, through the converted gas station’s main room and out into the cool, damp night. The street was quiet, a typical suburban lane post-midnight, dotted with pools of light from occasional streetlamps. The air smelled of cut grass and distant rain.
“Time for a test run,” Evelyn whispered, her breath misting in the air. She reached out with her mind, a new and still-unfamiliar sense that felt like stretching a phantom limb. She touched the psionic presence of the snake-like Assimilator. It was a simple consciousness, all hunger and obedience. That one, she thought, sending an image of a woman she’d seen earlier walking a small dog. Alone. Bring her to the fold.
The snake-Assimilator received the command. It slipped off the porch and into the shadows of a hedge, its form blurring, becoming one with the dark.
Evelyn walked calmly down the sidewalk, the other two Assimilators flanking her like odd pets, one loping on silent paws, the other skittering along the fence tops. She felt a thrill of power, clean and cold. This was no longer just about desire or personal dominance. This was ecology. She was seeding a new world.
A few blocks away, Marcy was regretting her late-night walk. Her terrier, Pixie, had been restless, and the fresh air was supposed to clear her head after a long shift at the call center. But the emptiness of the streets was suddenly oppressive. A rustle in the rhododendrons to her left made her jump.
“Probably a raccoon, Pix,” she muttered, tugging the leash.
The rustle came again, closer. Pixie growled, a low rumble in her tiny chest. Then Marcy saw it. A snake, but unlike any she’d ever seen. It was thick as her arm, its color a shifting, liquid purple-black. It moved with a speed that was utterly wrong, a fluid, muscular glide that ate up the pavement between them.
Her breath caught. Fear, cold and sharp, injected itself into her veins. She turned to run, but her shoe caught on a crack. She stumbled, the leash flying from her hand. Pixie yapped, a shrill sound of terror, and bolted into the night.
Marcy scrambled to her knees, but it was too late. The thing was upon her. It didn’t strike like a normal snake. It flowed up her legs, its touch cool and strangely dry, wrapping around her thighs, her waist, pinning her arms to her sides. She tried to scream, but a thicker part of its body surged upward, pressing against her lips, not to suffocate, but to shape itself.
It molded over her nose and mouth, forming a seamless, breathing mask. She could still draw air, filtered and sweet-smelling—a cloying, floral scent that immediately began to dull the razor’s edge of her panic. Her struggles weakened. The scent was… nice. It reminded her of jasmine. Of her grandmother’s garden. A profound, woolly lassitude seeped into her muscles.
The lower part of the creature, still wrapped tightly around her hips, did something else. It attenuated, forming a sleek, phallic probe that pressed insistently against her yoga pants, finding the seam. The material yielded with a soft tear. The probe, slick and warm, found her entrance and pushed inside in one smooth, penetrating motion.
Marcy’s eyes widened behind the latex mask, a muffled moan escaping her. It wasn’t pain. The aphrodisiac pumping into her system through the air she breathed transformed the invasion into a wave of shocking, unwanted pleasure. Her body, betraying her, arched into the penetration. The probe pulsed, and she felt a strange, full warmth spreading from her core as it deposited a dense, living packet of itself deep within her womb.
The world began to darken at the edges. The part covering her face thickened, flowing over her eyes, her ears, sealing her in.
The world vanished into a warm, soundless black. Marcy floated. Panic tried to bubble up, a last spark of her in the dark, but the sweet air flowing into her lungs swamped it with chemical calm. She felt cradled. Secure. The thing inside her womb shifted, unfolding like a wet flower, sending tendrils through her walls to anchor.
It began to feed.
A sharp, pulling sensation deep in her belly made her jerk. Instinct screamed wrong, and she tried to thrash, to claw at the rubber sealing her in. The cocoon responded instantly. It constricted, squeezing the breath from her chest in a silent, punishing hug. At the same time, a fresh, potent wave of that jasmine-sweet gas flooded her airways, thick and dizzying.
Her body went limp, the fear smothered under a heavy blanket of forced euphoria. The constriction eased, replaced by a gentle, rhythmic pulsing that massaged her skin. Pleasure, warm and lazy, seeped into her veins as a reward for her compliance. It pooled in her core, making her gasp against the inner lining of her mask.
Submit, the rhythm seemed to pulse. Be still.
Her mind, fuzzy and adrift, tried to grasp a thought—Pixie, work, help—but the effort triggered another warning squeeze. The gasp of discomfort was immediately washed away by another dizzying rush of gas and a targeted, electric pulse of pleasure directly to her clit that made her back arch against the cocoon’s floor.
SHE FELT THE HIVE INVADE HER AWARENESS AS THE APHRODISIAC SATURATED HER SYSTEM. It wasn't a voice. It was a presence, vast and humming, settling into the cracks of her will. It showed her fleeting, beautiful images: the serene face of Evelyn, a feeling of belonging, the profound satisfaction of Erica as she birthed new life. EVERY ACT OF SUBMISSION WAS REWARDED WITH PLEASURE. When she stopped fighting the anchoring tendrils, a wave of orgasmic heat blossomed from her womb. AND EVERY ACT OF DEFIANCE PUNISHED WITH CONSTRICTION AND ANOTHER DOSE OF THE GAS. A fleeting memory of her own name brought a suffocating pressure and a chemical haze so thick she forgot what she was remembering.
BEFORE LONG, SHE WAS SUBMISSIVE, COMPLIANT AND ORGASMIC. The cycles broke her, rebuilt her. Her identity, Marcy, became a distant, faded photograph. The pulsations from the cocoon and the entity growing inside her synced into a continuous, low-grade climax that left her perpetually breathless and pliant. The hive-mind’s whispers became comforting, its desires her own. To be full. To be useful. To wait, and to nourish.
Good, the presence hummed. You are home.
The cocoon, now a perfect, glossy purple egg nestled in the shrubbery, gave one final, firm pulse. Inside, the transformed woman sighed, a contented, wet sound. Her hand, now fused to her side, twitched once—not in struggle, but in a gentle, rhythmic kneading against the latex, mirroring the feeding pulses of the new symbiote within her.
Evelyn, two blocks away, stopped walking. A sharp, sweet smile touched her lips. The loping Assimilator at her heel nudged her hand with its sleek, shapeless head.
“One seed is sown,” she murmured, scratching behind a suggestion of an ear. She looked at the two remaining creatures. “Your turn. Find. Assimilate. Don’t be seen.”
The bestial form melted back into a blob and poured down a storm drain with a soft, wet ripple. The insectoid one skittered up a brick wall and vanished over the roofline. Alone on the quiet street, Evelyn took a deep breath of the normal night air, already tasting the change to come.
