Chapter 7: The Submission in Westfall

The blood-red moon hung low, washing the stubbled field in a light the color of old wine. The torch they’d planted in the earth guttered, fighting a losing battle against the vast, consuming dark. The chorus of night insects was a ceaseless hum, a sound that felt less like music and more like the land itself breathing.

Lyra lay on her back on the rough wool blanket, Alex’s head on her shoulder. Her fingers traced idle patterns on his arm. The silence between them wasn’t empty; it was saturated with everything that had happened—the tears in the barn, the taste of blackberry jam, the feeling of being anchored, finally, to something real.

“You know,” she said, her voice quiet against the insect drone. “Back in Dalaran, I’m always performing. Even when I’m alone, I’m rehearsing.” She turned her head, her lips brushing his hair. “Here, I haven’t performed once.”

He shifted to look at her. In the monochrome red light, his boyish features were all stark planes and soft shadows. “You don’t have to with me.”

“I know.” She swallowed. “That’s the terrifying part.” Her green eyes held his. “You told me, that night in my tower, that you thought you had a submissive side. I appreciated you telling me that.”

A flush bloomed across his cheeks, visible even in the crimson gloom. He’d whispered it in the dark, a confession more intimate than the physical act that followed. He gave a slow, almost imperceptible nod, his gaze dropping to her collarbone.

“Look at me,” she murmured.

He did. The fear was there, but beneath it, a thrilling current of anticipation. This was another layer of hiding shed, another mask offered up.

“Get on all fours.”

The words weren’t a command barked with theatrical force. They were soft, deliberate. A question posed as a statement.

Alex’s breath hitched. He held her gaze for a long, pulsing second. Then, moving as if in a dream, he pushed himself up. He knelt on the blanket, the worn fabric rough under his knees. He turned, presenting his back to her, and slowly lowered his torso, bracing his weight on his hands. The position was awkward, vulnerable, his spine a delicate curve in the torchlight.

Lyra moved behind him. Her hands were steady as she worked the simple laces of his trousers, the practical farm clothes so different from Dalaran finery. She pushed the fabric down over his hips. The cool night air kissed his exposed skin, raising goosebumps. He trembled, a fine, constant vibration she could feel under her palms.

She didn’t hurry. She unlaced her own leathers, freeing herself. The contrast was always a shock to her own senses—the familiar feminine curves of her hips, the flat plane of her stomach, and the heavy, alien weight of her cock, already thick and full from a week of intimacy and this new, potent freedom. She gave herself a few slow, firm strokes, her eyes never leaving the arc of his back.

She guided herself to him, the head pressing against his tight, clenching entrance. “Breathe out,” she whispered.

He exhaled in a shuddering rush, and she pushed in, not with a brutal thrust, but with a relentless, steady pressure. The burn of the stretch made him gasp, his fingers digging into the blanket. She slid deeper, inch by inexorable inch, until she was fully sheathed inside him, her body flush against his trembling thighs.

She paused, letting them both feel the incredible, suffocating fullness. Then she began to move.

It wasn’t love-making. It was claiming. A physical manifesto. Her hips pistoned with a ruthless, rhythmic efficiency, each drive pushing a choked sound from his lips. The soft slaps of skin on skin were the only punctuation in the night’s humming silence. She wrapped one arm around his waist, holding him upright, her other hand coming down in a sharp, stinging crack on his ass. The sound was startlingly loud. He jerked, a muffled cry escaping him, and the clench of his body around her was exquisite.

“Again,” he gasped, the word torn from him.

She obliged. Another slap, on the other cheek. Then another. The red marks bloomed under the odd light. Her pace increased, becoming punishing, each thrust jolting his whole frame. He was babbling, a stream of broken, grateful praise and pleas, his voice unmoored from his control. She could feel the coiled tension in his belly, the precipice he was scrambling toward.

“No,” she murmured, her own breath coming in sharp gusts. “Not yet.”

She withdrew abruptly, the sudden emptiness making him whimper. Before he could collapse, she pushed his shoulders down, flattening him against the blanket. His face pressed into the wool, the scent of lanolin and earth filling his nostrils. She knelt over him, pinned his hips with her own, and entered him again in one deep, brutal stroke.

This angle was deeper. Unforgiving. She braced her hands on either side of his shoulders and fucked him into the ground. Each hammering drive punched the air from his lungs. The world narrowed to the slap of their bodies, the gritty feel of the blanket under his cheek, the overwhelming sensation of being taken, used, seen in this most raw and undignified way.

His control shattered. A raw, ragged scream was torn from his throat, echoing oddly in the open field. His body convulsed beneath her, his release spilling hot and sticky onto the rough wool beneath him. Still, she didn’t stop. She chased her own climax, her movements growing frantic, losing their rhythm as the pleasure built, a torrent held back too long.

When it broke, it was silent for her. A vast, internal detonation. She slammed into him one final time, burying herself to the hilt, and held there as her cock pulsed, releasing deep inside him in wave after endless wave. She collapsed over his back, her weight pressing him fully into the earth, her face buried in the sweat-damp fabric of his tunic. They lay like that, joined, both trembling violently in the aftermath.

The torch spat. An owl called, far away.

Slowly, carefully, she pulled out. She rolled off him, onto her side. For a moment, they just breathed, two wrecked creatures on a scratchy blanket under a strange sky.

Then Lyra moved again. She gathered the clean corner of the blanket and wiped him gently, cleaning the mess from his stomach and thighs. She pulled his trousers back up, her touches methodical and tender. She lay down beside him and pulled him into her, spooning his trembling body against her own. His back fitted against her chest, her arm wrapping around his waist, her hand splayed over his pounding heart.

She nuzzled the nape of his neck, her lips soft against his skin. Her earlier ferocity was gone, evaporated like mist. One hand came up and gently brushed the hair from his damp forehead. She began to hum, a wordless, wandering melody from her childhood in Silvermoon, a lullaby she hadn’t thought of in years. Her fingers traced light, soothing circles on his sternum.

He started to cry. Not the harsh, overwhelmed sobs from the barn, but quiet, exhausted tears of release. He turned his face into the arm wrapped around him.

“Shhh,” she breathed into his ear. “I’ve got you. It’s all right. You were perfect.”

They lay entangled as his tears subsided into hiccups, then into slow, even breaths. The blood moon climbed higher, its light growing colder. The torch finally guttered and died, plunging them into near-darkness, lit only by the now-white pinpricks of stars.

“I don’t know what that was,” Alex whispered, his voice hoarse.

“It was the truth,” Lyra answered simply. “No performance.” She kissed his shoulder. “That’s what you give me. The space for the truth. Even when it’s… a lot.”

He laced his fingers through hers where they lay over his heart. “I’m not afraid of a lot.”

She smiled against his skin. “I know.” She held him tighter. “Tomorrow, we go back. To the spires and the politics and the people who only see the costume.”

He was silent for a long time. “Will you be okay?”

She thought of the vial of oil tucked in her pack. The memory of a dozen raised mugs. The feeling of clean earth after her fire had passed over it. The weight of this man, trusting and spent, in her arms.

“Yes,” she said, and for the first time, she believed it completely. “Because I’m not going back alone. And I’m not going back as who I was.” She nudged him. “And you have to pass your elemental mid-terms. I didn’t tutor you for nothing.”

A soft, genuine laugh shook his frame. It was a good sound. It belonged here, in this dark field, as much as the screams had.

Overhead, the celestial wheel turned. The first faint smudge of grey touched the eastern horizon, promising a dawn that was merely ordinary, blessedly grey. The night creatures fell silent. In the growing light, the harvested field wasn’t eerie or skeletal. It was just a field, resting. Waiting for the next season’s growth.

Lyra watched the stars fade, holding her lover, feeling the new, unshakable shape of herself settle into her bones. She was ready.
