Chapter 3: Collared and Claimed
The heavy hunting restraints bit into Grey's ankles where the coarse fur met softer skin. Each link of the cold chain clinked against the thick bedpost as he struggled weakly, the panic a dull throb beneath the bone-deep exhaustion and the raw ache between his legs. Jeff’s scent – musky fur, stale beer, and something vaguely like old snow – filled his nostrils, overwhelming. The polar bear loomed, a massive silhouette against the dim light filtering from a single, shaded lamp, his broad chest rising and falling steadily, a mountain range in motion.
"You done squirmin', Bambi?" Jeff rumbled, his voice a low vibration Grey felt more than heard. He reached out a paw, impossibly large, and ran a claw-tipped finger down the trembling plane of Grey’s belly. It wasn't gentle. It was an inspection. "Tight little thing, ain'tcha? Even after all that." He huffed a laugh, the sound devoid of true malice but heavy with a possessiveness that made Grey’s stomach clench. "Your little dick's so hard it hurts, ain't it?" Jeff sniffed, leaning closer, his breath hot on Grey’s ear. "Still riled up? Or just scared stiff?"
"Go... go soak your head," Grey rasped, the defiance brittle, cracking under the weight of his own helplessness and the lingering, humiliating echo of pleasure that had been forced through the pain. His hazel eyes darted around the room – not the predator bar’s harsh stage now, but Jeff’s personal domain. It was cluttered, dominated by the massive bed. The walls weren't covered in trophies of the kill, just faded posters for bands Grey didn’t recognize and a crooked shelf holding dusty bottles of liquor. No mounted heads. Just a guy’s messy bedroom, grotesquely oversized. The realization was small, cold comfort.
Jeff chuckled, a deep, rolling sound that shook the mattress. "Sharp tongue even now. Gotta admire the spirit." He shifted his immense weight, the bedframe groaning in protest beneath them, a sound Grey felt vibrate through his own bones. "Tried warnin' you, didn't I? That bar ain't the place for mouthy little bucks who think they got somethin' to prove." He rested more of his bulk on Grey, pinning him not just with chains but with sheer, overwhelming mass. The air rushed from Grey’s lungs in a pained gasp. "Picked the wrong bear to poke, Bambi."
Grey squeezed his eyes shut as Jeff positioned himself again. The initial invasion was a brutal stretch, a tearing burn that ripped a choked sob from his throat. He braced for the crushing weight, the ruthless rhythm, the jeering crowd that wasn’t there this time, only the heavy silence of Jeff’s bedroom punctuated by the bear’s low grunts and the rhythmic, agonizing creak of the bedsprings. He felt every ridge, every thick inch, a relentless piston driving him down into the mattress. Tears leaked from the corners of his eyes, hot and shameful, tracing paths through his fur. He bit his lip hard enough to taste copper, refusing to give Jeff the satisfaction of another scream, another whimper. He focused on the ache where his antlers should be, the phantom pain a familiar anchor in the storm of violation.
Afterwards, Jeff rolled off with a satisfied grunt, the mattress springs sighing in relief. He lay on his back, one massive arm thrown over his eyes, breathing heavily. Grey stayed rigid, staring at the ceiling, the sweat cooling on his fur, the shackles cold and unyielding around his hooves. The silence stretched, thick and suffocating, broken only by the ticking of a clock somewhere in the room.
Minutes crawled by. Grey felt raw, scraped hollow. Then, Jeff stirred. He didn't look at Grey, just swung his legs over the side of the bed with a groan that seemed to carry the weight of the world. He padded across the worn rug, his heavy footsteps thudding softly. Grey tensed, expecting… what? More? Dismissal? A kick? He heard the clink of glass, the glug of liquid.
Jeff returned, holding two chipped tumblers filled with amber liquid. He set one down on the rickety crate serving as a bedside table within Grey’s limited reach. He didn't uncuff him. Then, surprisingly, Jeff sat back on the edge of the bed, facing Grey. He took a long swallow from his own glass, the ice clinking. His perpetually amused expression was gone, replaced by something weary, almost contemplative.
"Damn, you look like warmed-over shit," Jeff stated bluntly, taking another sip. He reached out, not roughly, and nudged Grey’s shoulder where a deep bruise was already purpling the fur. "Hurtin'?"
Grey flinched, jerking against the restraints. "What the hell do you think?" he spat, the anger flaring, weak but persistent.
"Figured." Jeff grunted. He didn't apologize. He just looked at Grey, his dark eyes assessing. He ran a surprisingly gentle paw over the rough, sore stumps where Grey’s antlers had been sawn off on that stage just days before. The touch was light, almost curious, tracing the jagged edges of bone and scar tissue. It wasn't cruel, but it wasn't comforting either. It was... an acknowledgment. "Stings, huh? That saw job?"
Grey jerked his head away violently. "Get off me!"
Jeff withdrew his paw, unfazed. "Yeah, yeah." He took another drink. "Look, Bambi... Grey." He corrected himself, the name sounding strange and deliberate in his deep voice. He sighed, the sound like wind through pine trees. "You got a real knack for pissin' folks off. Real knack. That mouth..." He shook his great head. "But... hell." He gestured vaguely with his glass towards the shackles. "This ain't... this ain't my usual Tuesday night, y'know? Just a guy who got fed up with your shit."
He fell silent, swirling the liquor in his glass. The rough affection he'd shown a moment ago was gone, replaced by a gruff awkwardness. He seemed almost embarrassed by his own fleeting tenderness. He glanced at the restraints. "Probably oughta..." He trailed off, looking at Grey's raw ankles, then back to his face, then away. He didn't move to unlock them yet. He just sat there, a mountain of conflicted polar bear, radiating heat and the smell of cheap whiskey, staring into his glass while his unwanted guest trembled and bled slowly onto the polar bear-sized duvet. The silence returned, heavier now, charged with exhaustion, unspoken violence, and the baffling, clumsy ghost of something that wasn't quite pity. Grey lay very still, staring at the ceiling, the taste of blood and cheap whiskey sharp on his tongue, the cold metal unforgiving on his skin, and the phantom ache of his missing antlers throbbing like a second heartbeat. What now? The question hung in the stale air, unanswered.
The question hung in the stale air, unanswered. Jeff drained his glass, the ice cubes rattling like loose teeth. He set it down hard on the crate, the sound making Grey flinch. That brief, awkward tenderness vanished like smoke, replaced by the polar bear’s familiar, imposing bulk, now radiating a chilling finality. The amber light caught the hard glint returning to his dark eyes.
"Alright, Bambi," Jeff began, his voice low and devoid of the earlier gruff contemplation. It was flat, matter-of-fact, the sound of a man laying down the law. "Enough restin'. Time we talked about your new arrangements." He leaned forward slightly, the bed groaning, his shadow swallowing Grey whole. "See, that stunt at the bar? Puttin' your hooves up on my stool, spillin' my beer, runnin' that smart mouth?" He shook his massive head slowly. "That bought you a one-way ticket outta your old life."
Grey tried to snarl, but it came out as a shaky exhale. "Fuck your arrangements. Untie me." His voice cracked. The shackles felt like ice burning into his ankles.
Jeff chuckled, a dry, humorless sound. "Yeah, that attitude? That’s gettin’ corked. Permanently." He reached beside the bed, fumbling for a moment before pulling out a folded piece of paper and a cheap ballpoint pen. He tossed them onto Grey’s heaving chest. The paper felt flimsy, insignificant against the weight of dread settling in Grey’s gut. "Contract’s simple. You sign it. You belong to me. Slave. Property."
"What?!" The word ripped out, raw and disbelieving. Grey stared at the paper like it was venomous.
"Your old life?" Jeff continued, ignoring the outburst. He tapped a thick claw on Grey’s sternum, right over his frantic heart. "Gone. Poof. Forget it. Your job? Your shitty apartment? Gone. You live here now. You take my cock whenever, wherever I want it. You worship this," he gestured crudely at his own groin, "constantly. That’s your purpose. Understand?"
Grey squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out the words, the sheer impossibility of them. The scent of Jeff’s fur, the stale whiskey, the metallic tang of his own fear – it all pressed in, suffocating.
"And those little nubs," Jeff’s claw traced the rough, sensitive stumps where Grey’s antlers had been brutally sawn off on the bar stage days before. Grey winced, a fresh wave of phantom pain and shame washing over him. "We’re cap ‘em. Pink rubber. Dull. They ain’t never growin’ back. Deer don’t need weapons, remember?" He grinned, showing sharp teeth. "Especially not pretty pets."
"No," Grey whispered, the defiance crumbling into pure terror. "You can’t…"
"Can. Will." Jeff’s tone brooked no argument. "Gotta soften you up proper. You’ll take estrogen. Daily." He poked Grey’s soft, rounded belly. "Shrink that little dick of yours down even more. Turn these moobs," he gave one of Grey’s fleshy chest mounds a rough, dismissive squeeze, "into some nice perky tits. Make you look the part you’re gonna play."
Grey’s breath hitched. He felt sick, exposed, every insecurity Jeff named twisting like a knife. His small size, his body, his endowment – the bitter focus of his private shame laid bare and weaponized.
"And that cock?" Jeff leaned in, his hot breath washing over Grey’s face. "Locked up. Chastity cage. Tiny one, I’d reckon. Comes off only when I wanna play with it, or when I want you cleanin’ mine. Otherwise? Nothin’. Forget it exists." He paused, letting the image sink in. The utter denial. The complete surrender of self. "You’re gonna agree to all of this. Sign the paper. Nod your pretty, antlerless head. Right now."
Grey trembled violently, chains rattling. Tears welled, blurring Jeff’s looming face. "I won’t," he choked out, but the words lacked conviction, drowned by the roaring in his ears. It felt impossible, monstrous.
"Course you will," Jeff said, his voice dropping to a dangerous purr. He picked up the pen, uncapped it with a sharp click, and pressed the cold plastic into Grey’s unresisting hand. His massive paw closed over Grey’s, forcing his fingers around the pen. "Because deep down, under all that piss and vinegar, you want this. You love it." Jeff’s gaze locked onto Grey’s wide, terrified hazel eyes, seeing past the fear, past the defiance, digging into the secret core Grey had buried for years. "Thirty-eight years old, Grey. Thirty-eight years actin’ tough, pickin’ fights you knew you’d lose, provin’ nothin’ to nobody. Thirty-eight years wishin’ someone’d just… take you. Make the choices. Own you. Stop the noise in your head. Here I am."
The truth slammed into Grey like a physical blow. It wasn't just terror coiling in his belly now; it was a terrifying surge of recognition, a dam breaking inside him. The fights he couldn't win, the constant need to be seen as more, the sharp tongue hiding the hollow ache… Jeff saw it. Knew it. The shame was molten, but beneath it, a treacherous, dizzying relief began to bloom. The contract lay stark against his fur. The pen felt heavy, alien in his trapped hand. Jeff’s paw remained clamped over his, immovable. The silence stretched, thick with the scent of whiskey and polar bear and Grey's own cold sweat. His heart hammered against his ribs like a trapped bird. He stared at the blank line on the contract where his name should go, the cheap paper suddenly holding the weight of his obliterated future. Jeff’s hot breath fanned his ear. "Sign it." The command was final. Inescapable. Grey’s hand, trapped beneath Jeff’s, began to move. The pen tip hovered, trembling, just above the paper. His mouth was desert dry. He tried to form the word ‘no’, but only a ragged gasp escaped. The pressure of Jeff’s paw increased, not painfully, but with absolute certainty, guiding the pen down towards the line. Grey closed his eyes, the phantom ache of his missing antlers pulsing in time with his frantic heartbeat. He felt the cheap ballpoint’s tip finally touch the paper.
