Dean’s eyes lingered on her reflection, tracing the curve of her neckline. "Lucky guy, whoever’s waiting up there." The scent of stale cigar smoke and cheap air freshener thickened the air. Missy squirmed, the cracked vinyl seat sticking to her bare thighs beneath her suddenly too-short skirt.

Her mind felt like static. Get out! Max screamed inside, a frantic echo against the smooth, bubbly nonsense filling her head. "Oh, hehe," Missy giggled, the sound high and brittle. "Just me and Mr. Whiskers tonight!" She patted her purse, a sudden, overwhelming urge to please the driver flooding her. "He’s my kitty. Very… fluffy." The words felt alien, stupid, yet they tumbled out.

Dean’s grin widened, yellowed teeth flashing. "Mr. Whiskers, huh? Cute." He deliberately dragged his gaze down her body again. Wish that blouse was sheer. See if those nipples are hard yet. His knuckles tightened on the steering wheel.

Instantly, a sharp, insistent pressure bloomed beneath the thin silk of Missy’s blouse. Max felt the fabric rasp against suddenly tight, sensitive peaks. A low, involuntary moan escaped Missy’s painted lips. "Ooh," she breathed, her hand fluttering towards her chest before she snatched it away, cheeks burning. Her thoughts dissolved into a warm, syrupy haze of wanting Dean’s approval, his attention. He looks so… strong.

"Little warm in here, sweetheart?" Dean chuckled, his voice rough. He slowed the taxi unnecessarily, creeping past the apartment building’s entrance. The meter ticked steadily higher. "Need a hand with your bags? Or... anything else?" His implication hung heavy.

Max recoiled, a wave of nausea battling the artificial heat coiling low in Missy’s belly. NO! Fight it! But Missy just tilted her head, blonde waves brushing her shoulder. "That’s so sweet of you!" she chirped. "But Mr. Whiskers gets super jealous." She blinked slowly, eyelashes fluttering. Inside, Max clawed at the mental fog, desperate.

Dean’s eyes dropped pointedly to her chest again, the outline clearly visible now. Bet they’re perfect little berries. Want to taste. Missy’s lips parted slightly, her tongue darting out to wet them. The urge to lean forward, to offer… something… was overwhelming. A dizzying cocktail of Max’s terror and Missy’s manufactured desire made her lightheaded. Her fingers, tipped with garish pink polish, fumbled for the door handle. Cold metal met her touch.

"Here’s fine! Really!" Missy’s voice was too loud, too bright. She shoved the damp bills she found in her purse through the partition slot, avoiding his outstretched hand. The ring on her finger pulsed with a sudden, icy cold that cut through the haze for a split second – a stark reminder of the antique shop, the warning.

She practically fell out of the taxi onto the sidewalk. The door slammed shut with a final thud. Before she could breathe, the taxi peeled away, Dean’s leering face visible in the passenger window for one last, stomach-churning moment. Missy wobbled on unfamiliar high heels, the cool night air doing little to clear the confused arousal clinging to her. Max surfaced, gasping, staring down at the ridiculous skirt, the tight blouse, the traitorous ring.

Always been a woman, the shopkeeper had said. No one else sees. Panic, cold and sharp, finally pierced the Missy persona. He needed the ring off. Now. Frantically, she grabbed the cool metal band and pulled. It didn’t budge. Yanked harder. Nothing. Dug her nails in. It was fused to her skin. Across the street, a man in a suit exited a bodega, his eyes already scanning her figure appreciatively. Missy’s breath hitched, a compliant smile automatically starting to form on her lips as Max screamed into the void.
