Chapter 2: Silent Violation: The Unseen Taking
The gymnasium held its breath. The last pat-downs were done, the final humiliated cough echoing off the concrete. A collective, shuddering hope passed through the line of women—that it was over, that they could be marched back to the relative privacy of their cells to lick their wounds in silence.
The lead officer, a broad-shouldered man with a voice like gravel crushed under a boot, stepped into the center of the space. He didn’t need to shout. The quiet anticipation was worse.
“Turn around.”
The command was simple, flat. Jenny’s heart, which had begun to slow, seized again. She turned, her body moving on autopilot, the chain between her cuffs clinking softly. She faced the wall of orange-clad men. Their faces were still obscured, but their postures had changed. The rigid, tactical readiness had slackened into something else. A casual cruelty. Shoulders were looser. Some shifted their weight from foot to foot. One adjusted the front of his trousers.
“Bend over. Place your hands on the wall. Push your bottoms… and your panties… down to your ankles.”
A stifled gasp rippled down the line, a wave of pure dread. This was new. This was different. The search had been a violation, but it had the thin veneer of procedure. This had none.
“Do it. Now.”
Jenny’s fingers, numb and clumsy, fumbled with the waistband of her shorts. The button popped open. The zipper grated. She pushed the coarse fabric down, taking her thin cotton panties with them. They pooled around her ankles, a pathetic little nest of fabric on the cold floor. The air in the gym was frigid, and it washed over her bare buttocks and the exposed heat between her legs. She bent at the waist, placing her cuffed hands flat against the cinderblock. The position was one of utter submission, of offering. Her spine curved, her head hung low, her hair curtaining her face. From this angle, she could see the legs of the woman next to her—Martinez. They were trembling, but they were planted squarely, defiantly.
“Eyes front! Heads down!”
Jenny stared at the grit in the mortar lines of the wall. She heard the soft, hesitant footsteps of the female officers moving away, their attention deliberately turned towards the far bleachers, a conversation about shift schedules beginning in hushed, purposefully normal tones. They were creating a perimeter of plausible deniability. The air grew thicker, warmer, charged with a new and terrible energy.
She heard the quiet rustle of tactical pants, the whisper of a zipper. Then, footsteps. Slow, measured, deliberate. The cadets were moving.
Jenny squeezed her eyes shut. She could hear the soft, wet sound of a mouth near her ear, a cadet whispering something filthy to the woman a few spaces down, the choked-off sob that followed. Then the footsteps stopped behind her.
She could smell him—stale coffee, cheap deodorant, the sour tang of male sweat. She felt the heat of his body first, a presence violating the space just inches from her naked skin. Then, the blunt, insistent pressure against the back of her thigh. The head of his cock, already slick with his own arousal, nudged her flesh. It was hot, a brand. He slid it along the seam of her leg, up towards the junction of her thighs, leaving a sticky trail.
Her whole body went rigid. A high-pitched whine, pure animal fear, buzzed in her ears. She clenched every muscle, trying to make herself stone.
“Fucking relax, you tight little bitch,” a voice muttered. It was young, strained with excitement. Not Officer Davis’s voice. A cadet’s.
A hand, gloved and rough, slapped her left buttock, not hard enough to bruise, but enough to sting, to shock. Her body jerked, and in that instant of unclenching, the pressure found its target. The broad, slick tip of him pressed against her opening. She was dry with fear; the contact burned.
He grunted, annoyed. She heard the spit—a quick, wet sound—and felt the cold, shocking wetness as he spat onto her, onto his own fingers, then rubbed it between her legs, his touch crude and perfunctory. The lubrication was a violation more profound than the spit itself. It was preparation.
“Please,” the word escaped her lips, a thin, broken thing.
The plea was ignored. He positioned himself, one hand digging into the flesh of her hip, the other bracing against the wall beside her head. With a sharp, grunting thrust, he drove himself into her.
The pain was a white-hot lance. Jenny gasped, her mouth opening in a silent scream against the cinderblock. He was big, and he was forcing his way into a body locked in terror. He buried himself to the hilt in one brutal motion, his pelvis slamming against her buttocks with a meaty smack.
“Oh fuck, yeah,” he hissed, his breath hot on her neck. “That’s a good cunt. Tight as hell.”
He began to move. Short, punishing strokes at first, then settling into a deeper, more rhythmic fucking. Each withdrawal was a rasping, raw friction. Each thrust was a nauseating invasion, punching the air from her lungs. She could feel every vein, every ridge of him. The sounds were obscene—the wet, rhythmic slap of flesh on flesh, his ragged breathing, the soft, continuous clink of her cuffs against the wall as her body was shoved forward with every push.
Tears tracked silently through the dust on her cheeks. She dissociated, trying to flee to the white space behind her eyelids. She thought of her sketchbook, of the way charcoal felt gliding across paper, of sunlight dappling through trees in a park she hadn’t seen in two years. But his grunts, the smell of him, the relentless, pounding fullness kept dragging her back into the horrible present.
To her left, she heard Martinez’s low, venomous hiss. “You touch her like that again, motherfucker, and I’ll—”
The threat was cut short by a choked gasp. Jenny forced her head to turn slightly, her vision blurred. A different cadet was behind Martinez, his hands viciously gripping her hips. He was fucking her harder, angrier, his thrusts jerky and violent. Martinez’s face was a mask of fury and pain, her teeth bared, her eyes blazing at the wall. She didn’t make another sound.
The man inside Jenny changed his angle, curling his fingers painfully into her hip bones. He hit something deep, a spot that sent a jolt through her that was neither purely pain nor pleasure, but a horrifying hybrid of both. An unwanted, traitorous spark of physical sensation in the midst of the violation. A small, broken moan escaped her, which he took as encouragement.
“You like that, don’t you, you jailbird slut?” he panted, his pace quickening. “Taking my dick like you fucking need it.”
His thrusts became frantic, losing rhythm. He was panting like a dog, his body tensing behind her. With a final, shuddering slam, he buried himself deep and held there. Jenny felt the hot, sudden flood inside her, a wet, foreign heat that seemed to burn. He groaned, a long, satisfied sound, and stayed lodged within her for a few seconds, pulsing.
He pulled out with a slick, sickening pop. The immediate emptiness was almost worse. A trickle of his release began to seep down her inner thigh, warm and shameful. He zipped himself up, his breathing slowing. He gave her ass another casual, proprietary slap.
“Good girl,” he muttered, and his footsteps receded.
Jenny stayed bent over, frozen, the cold air cooling the wetness on her thighs and between her legs. The gym was filled with the soft, horrible symphony of the same act repeating—grunts, slaps, choked cries, the occasional crude joke from a cadet. She heard Officer Davis’s voice then, strained and tight, from somewhere down the line. “Enough. Let’s go. Move out.”
It wasn’t a command of protection, but one of cessation. The damage was done.
The female officers’ conversation by the bleachers ceased. Boots scuffled. The line of orange-clad men reformed, a wall of indifference once more. The lead officer’s gravel voice cut through the fog.
“Pull your clothing up. Face the wall. Prepare to move.”
Hands shaking, muscles screaming in protest, Jenny dragged her panties and shorts back over her hips. The fabric clung unpleasantly to the mess between her legs. As she straightened, a wave of dizziness nearly buckled her knees. She kept her eyes on the floor, on the discarded pad from hours before, now just another part of the filth.
From the corner of her eye, she saw Martinez finally stand. The older woman’s face was a stone carving, but her hands, as she pulled up her pants, trembled with a fine, constant vibration. She caught Jenny’s glance. Her eyes, dark and fierce, held Jenny’s for a fraction of a second. There was no comfort there, only a shared, burning truth. A promise.
They were marched out of the gymnasium in silence, the only sounds the shuffle of feet and the distant, echoing clang of a door far away. The fluorescent lights buzzed their same empty song. The stench of sweat and blood and sex clung to their clothes, to their skin, to the very air they breathed. It was a scent that would linger in Jenny’s nostrils long after the lights were turned off, a ghost of the violation that now lived inside her, a cold, hard knot in the pit of her being where her memories of sunlit parks used to be.
