Chapter 2: Building Tension

Dhanuja sat in the waiting room of David's office, her heart pounding in her chest like a drum. She had taken a deep breath before entering, the scent of antiseptic and medication filling her nostrils, grounding her in the reality of why she was here. Her worst fear was bad news about her own fertility as she waited to be shown into David's office and to hear the test results.

When David finally appeared, the sight of him was enough to make her heart skip a beat. He was dressed in a crisp white coat, his dark hair slightly disheveled, and his eyes behind his glasses held a mix of professionalism and concern.

"Dhanuja, come in," he said, gesturing to the examination room.

She followed him in, her heels clicking on the cold, tiled floor. The room was stark, clinical, and filled with the smell of disinfectant.

"Have a seat," David said, pointing to the examination table.

Dhanuja perched on the edge, her hands clasped tightly in her lap.

She could feel her heartbeat pounding in her chest as she waited for David to speak.

"So, Dhanuja," he began, his voice soft yet authoritative. "I understand that you and Mike have been trying to conceive for some time now."

She nodded, her eyes meeting his. "Yes, almost a year now. I'm starting to feel the pressure, from my family, from my body... from everything."

David's eyes scanned the printout in his hand. "Your test results show that you're perfectly healthy, Dhanuja. Your ovulation is regular, and your hormone levels are normal.

There's no physiological reason why you shouldn't be able to conceive." He paused, his gaze meeting hers. "But there could be other factors at play. Stress, for instance. Or perhaps there's something else you'd like to talk about? Has Mike got a test done? Do you know the results?"

"I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with me. Thank you Doctor for confirming that."

Dhanuja replied, trying to keep her voice steady. "I will speak to Mike about getting tested. He's been so busy with work."

David placed the printout on the small table next to the examination bed. "I understand. It's a stressful time. If you need to talk, Dhanuja, I'm here. It's important to have someone to unload on."

Dhanuja looked at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. "That means a lot."

David gave her a reassuring smile.

"You're welcome, Dhanuja. And remember, it's normal to feel overwhelmed. Let's get you out of here. If you want me to talk with Mike, let me know."

Dhanuja hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Okay, David. Thank you."

---

Dhanuja's nights had become an endless cycle of unfulfilled desire and frustration. She would lie awake, her body aching with need, her mind tormented by images of David's handsome face.

The stress their marriage was going through didn't help matters. Mike was either busy working or totally oblivious to her sexual needs when he fucked her.

Increasingly, Dhanuja was feeling used for his release. Her needs seemed to be the last thing on Mike's mind -- be it in bed or with starting a family.

She was tired of faking it and pretending everything was alright. She needed a release, needed someone to satisfy her, to harness her desires and give her what she craved.

She tried talking to Mike about getting a fertility test done and that ended in the couple's first serious argument. "I don't need to get tested, Dhanuja. I'm fine. You're overthinking this," Mike said, his voice gruff with frustration.

"But we've been trying for a year, Mike. It's not just about you or me. It's about us. About our future together," Dhanuja pleaded.

Mike sighed, rubbing his temples. "Look, I don't want to fight about this. Let's just keep trying. I'm sure everything will be fine. We will be blessed with a baby when we are meant to be. You just need to trust in fate and destiny."

Dhanuja felt her temper rise. "Trust in fate? Is that all you can say, Mike?" she snapped. "I'm tired of waiting for some divine plan. I want to take control of this situation. I want to do something about it."

Mike's voice hardened. "Well, there's nothing more we can do, Dhanuja. I'm not getting tested. End of discussion."

He stomped out of the room, leaving Dhanuja alone with her thoughts. She felt a mix of anger, frustration, and helplessness. She couldn't understand why Mike was being so stubborn about this.

She needed him to be more involved, to care as much as she did. She felt a wave of frustration wash over her as she lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.
