Silje is straight and not curious. She stumbles on a lesbian pride march where she is kissed and groped by many of the march attendees in a row

Chapter 2: Velvet Vices: Whiskey and Fingers

The shower had lasted an hour. She’d scrubbed her skin raw with a loofah until it was pink and stinging. She’d used the mouthwash twice, then brushed her teeth until her gums bled. The phantom tastes—strawberry, vanilla, coffee, ash—were a tattoo on her tongue.

In the quiet of her apartment, wearing an old university hoodie and sweatpants, she should have felt clean.Safe. The silence, though, was full of echoes. The sound of applause. The click of boots. A low, hungry moan in a damp alley. She could feel the ghost of fingers inside her, the memory more insistent than the hot water could erase.

She’d called in sick to the bookstore. The thought of the ordered shelves, the quiet customers, the smell of paper and dust—it felt like a performance for a person she no longer was. Who was she? A woman who had been violated. A woman whose body had hummed in response to the violation. The two facts warred inside her, a nauseating, endless loop.

Her flat felt like a cage. She needed noise, darkness, a place where she wasn’t herself. Somewhere no one knew her. No one would look at her and see the confusion. She dressed in dark jeans and a plain black V-neck, pulling her still-damp hair into a messy knot. She left the book, A Room of One’s Own, face-down on the coffee table. Its title felt like a cruel joke.

She found The Velvet Hush by accident, its entrance an unmarked black door down a set of stone steps in the old quarter. A small, discreet rainbow sticker was the only clue. From inside, a low, throbbing bassline seeped out. It wasn’t the joyous, explosive sound of the march. This was darker, slower. A pulse, not a shout.

She pushed the door open.

The air inside was a physical presence: warm, thick, and heavy with the scents of incense, spilled liquor, and perfume. Low, crimson lighting made the space a cave of shadows and highlights. It was busy, but not crowded. Women and non-binary folks sat at the bar, lounged in clusters on low sofas, danced slow and close in a cleared space in the center. The energy was different here. It was not about celebration. It was about desire. Raw, undiluted, and hanging in the air like smoke.

Silje’s heart hammered against her ribs. This was a mistake. A colossal, terrifying mistake. She turned to leave.

A hand closed on her upper arm, just above the elbow. The grip was strong, certain.

“Well, look what just wandered in.”

The voice was a low alto, calm and amused. Silje looked up. The woman holding her was tall, easily six feet, with the solid, muscular build of a swimmer or a climber. She had short, ash-brown hair, cropped close at the sides. Her face was handsome, strong-jawed, with laugh lines at the corners of her eyes. She wore a simple black henley and dark jeans. Her wedding band, a plain platinum band, glinted in the dim light.

“You lost, sweetheart?” the woman asked. Her eyes, a pale, intelligent green, scanned Silje’s face with an unsettling, detached curiosity.

“I… I was just leaving,” Silje stammered, trying to pull her arm free.

The woman—Liv—didn’t let go. Her thumb stroked a slow, almost clinical circle on the inside of Silje’s arm. “You just got here. And you look like you could use a drink. Come on.”

It wasn’t an invitation. It was a gentle, unyielding command. Liv steered her away from the door, through the murmuring crowd, towards the very back of the bar. A deep, velvet-draped booth sat in a shadowy alcove, partially hidden from the main room. The air here was even denser, smelling of patchouli and a spicier, vanilla-like musk.

In the booth, a woman was already waiting. She was smaller, with a cascade of fiery red curls and a sharp, knowing face. She swirled a glass of amber whiskey, ice cubes clinking softly. She looked up as Liv and Silje approached, and a slow, predatory smile spread across her lips.

“Found a stray, Liv?” the redhead purred.

“Seems so, Maeve.” Liv slid into the booth, pulling Silje down beside her, trapping her against the wall. The velvet was cold and sticky under Silje’s thighs. “She looks like she’s had a rough day.”

Maeve’s eyes, a bright, piercing blue, raked over Silje. “She looks untouched. And terrified.” She took a sip of her whiskey. “I like that.”

“I need to go,” Silje said, her voice a dry whisper. She tried to slide out, but Liv’s arm, heavy and solid, came down on the back of the booth behind her, a casual barrier.

“Have a drink first,” Liv said. Her tone was calm, reasonable. “You’re wound tight as a drum. You ever had a real whiskey?”

Before Silje could answer, Liv signaled a server. A tumbler appeared moments later, filled two fingers deep with the same amber liquid. Liv pushed it into Silje’s hand. “Drink.”

Silje’s fingers trembled around the cool glass. The smell was pungent, woody. She took a small sip. Fire exploded down her throat, making her eyes water. She coughed.

Maeve chuckled. “Definitely untouched.”

“Her hair,” Liv murmured, more to herself than to Maeve. Her hand came up and tugged the elastic from Silje’s messy bun. Silje’s long, wavy blonde hair tumbled down around her shoulders. Liv gathered a handful of it, feeling its texture. “It’s like corn silk. So fucking straight-girl pretty.”

“Please,” Silje said again, the whiskey heat in her stomach doing nothing to melt the ice in her veins.

“‘Please’ what?” Liv asked, her face inches from Silje’s. Her breath smelled of mint and the same whiskey. Her green eyes were calm, analytical. “You came in here. You knew what this place was. You were looking for something.”

“I wasn’t—”

“You were.” Liv’s voice cut through her protest, quiet and final. “You had a taste out there on the street, didn’t you? A little public sampling. And it scared you. But it also woke something up. Something you don’t have a name for.”

Silje’s mouth went dry. Liv’s words were arrows, each one hitting a secret, shameful bullseye.

“It’s okay,” Liv continued, her hand still tangled in Silje’s hair, not pulling, just owning. “It happens. Women like you… you’re told a story about yourself your whole life. But the body knows different. The body wants what it wants.”

Maeve leaned forward, her cleavage pressing against the table. “Does your body want something, pretty girl?” she asked, her voice a sugary poison.

Silje shook her head, a frantic, small movement. Liv’s grip in her hair tightened, just enough to still her.

“I think it does,” Liv said. “I think it’s screaming for it. And I think you’re too well-trained to listen. You need someone to translate.” She looked at Maeve. “Show her.”

Maeve’s smirk deepened. She set her whiskey down with a deliberate click. In one fluid motion, she swung her legs over the bench and straddled Silje’s lap, her weight pinning her down. The spicy vanilla scent of her perfume enveloped Silje.

“No—” Silje’s protest was muffled as Maeve’s hand clamped over her mouth. Her palm was soft, but the pressure was absolute.

“Shhh,” Maeve whispered. “Just feel.”

Liv, still sitting beside her, moved with a terrifying efficiency. Her hand that had been on the back of the booth now snaked around Silje’s front. Her fingers found the hem of Silje’s black V-neck, slipped underneath, and closed over her breast. Silje jerked, a muffled cry trapped behind Maeve’s hand. Liv’s touch was not exploratory; it was proprietary. Her thumb scraped roughly over the silk of Silje’s bra, finding the nipple beneath and pinching it hard through the fabric.

A sharp bolt of pain-pleasure shot through Silje, making her back arch involuntarily. Her eyes widened in horror at her own response.

“See?” Liv breathed into her ear. Her other hand, still tangled in Silje’s hair, suddenly yanked her head back, exposing her throat. The pain was bright and clean. “You’re already getting wet for us. I can feel your heart trying to beat out of your chest.”

Maeve removed her hand from Silje’s mouth and replaced it with her own. Her lips were slick from the whiskey. She kissed Silje deeply, her tongue immediately pushing past her teeth. This kiss was different from the others; it was practiced, decadent. Maeve tasted of oak and smoke and a deeper, female heat. She consumed Silje’s mouth, her tongue sliding and stroking with a deliberate, corrupting rhythm.

While Maeve kissed her, Liv’s hand left her breast and slid down her stomach. Her palm was broad, warm. It slipped over the waistband of Silje’s jeans, down. Liv’s fingers found the button, flicked it open. The zipper hissed down.

Silje tried to thrash, to buck Maeve off, but Liv’s arm was an iron bar across her torso, and Maeve’s weight was immovable. Panic and something else, something dark and molten, flooded her system.

Liv’s hand dove into the open jeans, sliding over the thin cotton of Silje’s panties. A low, rough laugh escaped her. “Soaked,” she announced to Maeve, breaking the kiss for a moment. “Absolutely fucking soaked through. And we’ve barely started.”

Maeve pulled back, her lips swollen and glistening. She looked down at Liv’s hand buried in Silje’s jeans, and her eyes darkened with lust. “Let me feel.”

Liv didn’t remove her hand. Instead, she hooked her fingers into the lace of Silje’s panties and pulled them aside. The cool air of the bar hit Silje’s exposed flesh, followed an instant later by the rough, deliberate press of Liv’s fingertips against her bare slit.

Silje whimpered, the sound lost in the bar’s low hum.

Liv’s fingers slid through the slickness, gathering it. She circled Silje’s clit, once, twice, with a mocking gentleness. “You’re so responsive,” she mused, her voice clinical. “Like a little doll. Wound up and ready to come for the first women who really touch you.”

“Fuck her,” Maeve said, her voice strained. She was watching Liv’s hand, her own hand drifting to rub between her own legs over her dress. “Don’t tease her. Fuck her right here.”

Liv’s green eyes locked onto Silje’s terrified, pleading gaze. “You want that?” she asked softly, almost kindly. “You want me to finger-fuck you in this booth, with everyone just a few feet away? They could look over any time. See the little straight girl getting turned inside out.”

Silje shook her head, tears spilling over.

“Your body says yes,” Liv whispered.

And she pushed two fingers inside.

Silje’s back arched off the velvet seat, a silent scream trapped in her throat. The invasion was sudden, deep, and brutal. Liv’s fingers were long and thick, and she thrust them in to the knuckle without preamble. The stretch was a burning, exquisite ache. Silje was tight, and Liv felt every inner muscle clench and flutter around her.

“God, she’s tight,” Liv grunted, her calm demeanor cracking for a second with sheer carnal approval. She began to move her hand, a slow, relentless piston. Her thumb found Silje’s clit again, rubbing hard, in time with her thrusts.

The sensations assembled into a tsunami, obliterating thought. The shame, the fear, the anger—they were all crushed under the raw, physical reality of Liv’s hand fucking her. The whiskey burned in her gut. Maeve’s perfume clogged her nose. The velvet scratched her back. And inside, a devastating pleasure began to coil, tighter and tighter, forged from the very violation that should have repelled her.

Maeve leaned in again, biting Silje’s lower lip. “You’re gonna come, aren’t you?” she hissed. “You’re gonna come on a married woman’s fingers in a dyke bar. Your little pussy is sucking her right in.”

Liv’s pace quickened. Her fingers curled inside Silje, hitting a spot that made stars explode behind her eyes. Silje’s hips began to move of their own accord, meeting the thrusts, begging for more. A guttural, animal sound tore from her throat.

“That’s it,” Liv coaxed, her own breathing becoming ragged. “Let it happen. Come for us. Show us what you really are.”

The coil snapped.

Silje’s world dissolved into white, silent static. Her body seized, every muscle locking as a violent, seismic orgasm ripped through her. It was unlike anything she’d ever experienced—not a gentle wave, but a brutal, total annihilation. It wrung a broken, sobbing cry from her lungs as she convulsed against Liv’s hand, her inner muscles milking the intruding fingers with helpless, rhythmic pulses.

Liv fucked her through it, drawing it out, until Silje was a shuddering, boneless wreck against the velvet.

Slowly, Liv withdrew her fingers. They were glistening in the dim red light. She brought them to her own mouth, never breaking eye contact with Silje, and sucked them clean with a slow, deliberate savor.

“See?” Liv said quietly, her voice husky. “Nothing to be afraid of. Just biology.”

Maeve climbed off Silje’s lap, adjusting her dress. She looked flushed, satisfied. “She’s a natural.”

Silje could only slump against the wall, her jeans still open, her body humming with aftershocks and a soul-crushing shame. The scent of her own arousal, mingled with whiskey and perfume, was a brand in the air.

Liv leaned close again, her lips brushing Silje’s ear. “My wife gets the kids on Thursday nights. I have a standing appointment here. Room in the back. If you want to learn more.” She tucked a business card, crisp and white, into the open V of Silje’s shirt. It held only a phone number.

Then Liv slid out of the booth, Maeve following. They melted back into the crowd as if nothing had happened, leaving Silje alone in the dark alcove, her body humming with a truth she could no longer deny.
