A continuation of the story ‘Southern Charm and North Desires. This story picks up after Beau and Seraphina move to Los Angeles. They rent a condo together to save on rent and because it just felt like the most logical thing to do. Settling into domestic life came easy for them despite the dominate personalities. They loved each throughly and their sex life was both a Testament and compliment to it. They both took pleasure in pushing each other past their limits and laying in bed completely empty and over sensitive. The love and dynamic between them was palpable. No one could see that more than Victoria Sterling. Seraphina’s new department head. She was everything Mr. Abernathy said she was and worse. She hated seraphina upon meeting her but kept it professional. Victoria was worried seraphina was there to replace her but when she saw Beau she had a new objective.

Chapter 4: Desk Job

The city below Beau’s window was a nebula of scattered light, a silent, chaotic cosmos. His desk lamp carved a pool of gold from the darkness, illuminating the disaster that was the Zenith account files. Spreadsheets, forensic audits, and corrupted data logs formed a topography of deliberate failure. Victoria’s sabotage was elegant in its malice—a labyrinth of dead ends and circular references designed to humiliate. His jaw ached from being clenched.

The soft swish of his office door opening was barely audible. He didn’t look up, assuming it was a cleaner.

“I brought reinforcements.”

Her voice, a low thrrum in the quiet, unknotted something tight in his chest. He leaned back in his chair to see Seraphina framed in the doorway, her silhouette familiar and necessary. She held a brown paper bag greasy with promise in one hand, her blazer slung over her arm, the sleeves of her silk blouse rolled up. Her expression was calm, but her eyes, those changeling sea-green eyes, held a banked, furious fire.

“She sent you the files,” Beau stated. It wasn’t a question.

“And a truly inspiring email about ‘stepping up to the big leagues.’” Seraphina dropped the takeout bag on a side table and walked to his desk. She picked up a top sheet, her lips moving slightly as she scanned the intentionally obfuscated figures. A harsh, unamused laugh escaped her. “God, she’s so transparent. This isn’t a workload. It’s a published thesis on incompetence. She must think we’re stupid.”

“She doesn’t think about us at all,” Beau corrected, his voice a low gravel. “She thinks about what she wants. We’re just scenery in her movie.”

Seraphina met his gaze over the towering paper. The shared understanding was instantaneous, a current that bypassed thought. It wasn’t just about the work. It was the violation of their space, their peace, the attempted poisoning of something they’d built together. The petty handshake, the lurid gossip from Martin, the calculated professional trap—all of it condensed into a single, pressurized point in this quiet, dark room.

Outrage, hot and bright, flashed between them.

Without a word, Seraphina’s hands came to the edge of the desk. Beau’s met them. In one synchronized, violent sweep, they cleared the surface. Files cascaded into the air in a white waterfall, pens clattering, the monitor wobbling precariously as it met the carpet with a dull thud. The sound was catastrophic and profoundly satisfying.

The space between them vanished.

His mouth found hers with a possession that was both demand and answer. This wasn’t gentle. It was a reclamation. Her fingers speared into his hair, pulling, claiming him just as fiercely. The taste of her—spearmint and unresolved anger—was a drug. He walked her backward until the edge of the cold, hard desk hit the backs of her thighs.

“Tell me what you need,” he growled against her lips, his hands already working the fastening of her trousers.

“You,” she gasped, arching into him. “Everything. Now.”

He yanked the fabric down her hips, the silk of her blouse whispering as he pushed it up. The air in the office was cool, raising goosebumps on her skin that he soothed with the heat of his palms, his mouth. He hooked his hands behind her knees and lifted, spreading her wide across the barren mahogany. The vulnerability was absolute. The offering, perfect.

He drank her in, the sight of her splayed open for him banishing all thought of Victoria, of Zenith, of anything but the scent and taste of her arousal, tangy and desperate. He buried his face between her legs, his tongue a relentless, worshipful instrument. He devoured her as if starving, as if this breath were his last. Her back bowed off the desk, a choked cry tearing from her throat as her hips rolled against his mouth. The first climax hit her quickly, a shuddering release that she rode with her fingers clamped in his hair, holding him to her.

But it was just the starting gate.

As the tremors subsided, she pushed at his shoulders, her eyes dark and commanding. “My turn.”

A slow, feral smile spread across his face. He stood, letting her slide from the desk. Her hands went to his belt, the click of the buckle loud in the silent room. She pushed him down into his abandoned office chair, the leather sighing under his weight as she straddled him. She took him inside her in one slow, devastating sink, her head falling back as she sheathed him completely.

They moved in a rough, hungry rhythm, the chair groaning in protest. She controlled the pace, riding him with a focused intensity, her nails biting into the muscles of his shoulders. He watched her, mesmerized by the flush on her chest, the parting of her lips with each punishing rise and fall.

“You feel so good, Mistress,” he groaned, the honorific a graveled prayer, his hands gripping her hips to meet her downward thrusts.

The power shifted again with a suddenness that made her gasp. He surged up, wrapping an arm around her waist, and turned, pinning her beneath him on the floor amidst the scattered paperwork. The discarded files crunched under their weight. He drove into her, the new angle wrenching a different, deeper sound from her lungs.

“Yes,” she hissed, her legs wrapping around his back, heels digging in. “Daddy, fuck me like that. Just like that.”

He was relentless. The world narrowed to the slap of skin, the wet friction of their joining, the ragged symphony of their breathing. They spoke in fragmented, carnal truths. “Mine.” “Yours.” “Again.” She came a second time, her internal muscles fluttering around him in a vice-like pulse that dragged a roar from his chest as he followed her over, spilling into her with a shudder that felt like it reached his bones.

They lay tangled on the floor for long minutes, surrounded by the evidence of Victoria’s spite, their own skin gleaming with sweat in the lamplight. The city hummed, indifferent. Gradually, their breathing evened.

Wordlessly, Beau stood, then reached down to pull her up. They righted the chair, collected the scattered pages. He handed her her trousers, his fingers brushing her hip, a touch now of steadying kinship. She smoothed her hair, a ghost of a smile touching her swollen lips.

They ordered the chaos together, not speaking, the silence rich with understanding. He stacked the Zenith files into a neater, no less dangerous, pile. She retrieved the now-lukewarn takeout, opening containers of lo mein and kung pao chicken. The familiar, greasy aroma filled the room, layering over the scent of sex and exertion.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor, a spreadsheet on her lap and a chopstick in her hand, Seraphina pointed to a column of figures. “Look at this transfer log. She didn’t even try to hide the ghost account. It’s pathetic.”

Beau, leaning against the desk beside her, took a bite of chicken. “Pathetic, but logged. We can trace it. We’ll build the map she thinks she erased.”

They worked. Bite of food, swipe of a highlighter, muttered observation. Their shoulders touched. A knowing look passed between them—a flash of simmering amusement, of united front, of postponed reckoning. This was merely a respite. A fortification.

The battle with Victoria Sterling was declared. And it was far from over.
