Chapter 3: Climax

When Moka, who had been abandoned in the park, looked up, he saw a woman looking down at him. It was Yumi.

She approached the abandoned cat slowly, trying not to startle her. Mocha meowed softly as Yumi reached out to pet him.

"Oh, you're so soft," Yumi said, smiling as she stroked Mocha's fur. "I've never seen a cat like you before."

Mocha purred in response, his eyes closed in contentment. Yumi picked him up gently, cradling him in her arms.

"I'll take care of you, don't worry," Yumi whispered, her voice filled with warmth and compassion.

From that day on, Yumi became Mocha's new owner. She took him to the vet for a check-up and provided him with food, shelter, and love.

Mocha, for his part, couldn't be happier.

He found a loving home with Yumi, who doted on him like no one had ever done before.

As the days turned into weeks, Mocha began to feel more and more at ease in his new surroundings. He would wander the apartment, exploring every nook and cranny, purring happily whenever Yumi called his name. He even developed a special bond with Yumi's roommate, who he would follow around the apartment, kneading her clothes with his paws in a playful show of affection.

After finishing telling her story, Mocha yawned loudly on Yumi's lap and thanked her again, saying, "Thank you for keeping me."

Yumi listened to Mocha's story with awe and couldn't help but think about Tomoko's special ability, her love for Mocha, and the pain of the decision she had to make because of it.

Yumi recalled the feeling of sadness she had felt when she first found Mocha alone in the park. She remembered how he looked up at her with those same bright green eyes, which now seemed to hold a deeper wisdom. Yumi wondered if she would have been strong enough to make the same decision Tomoko had made if she were in the same situation.

As Yumi pondered the question, she heard a rustling sound coming from the balcony. She looked up and saw a bird perched on the railing, pecking at a piece of bread. The bird was a small, slender sparrow with brown feathers and a cream-colored chest.

It pecked at the bread absentmindedly, seemingly unaware of the predator lurking just a few feet away. Moka's eyes followed the bird's movements, and Yumi could see the muscles in her hind legs tensing, ready to pounce.

But Moka didn't move. She simply sat there, watching the sparrow with an intensity that made Yumi's skin crawl. Yumi couldn't help but feel that Moka was capable of so much more than the average house cat.

The way he had spoken to her, his stories of his previous owner and her supernatural abilities, it all seemed so surreal. Yet, here he was, sitting calmly on her lap, gazing up at her with those same bright green eyes that had first caught her attention.

Suddenly, Moka's ears perked up, and he tensed, his gaze fixed on something outside the window. Yumi followed his line of sight and saw a tram rushing by, filled with people on their way to who knows where.

"What is it, Moka?" Yumi asked, curious about what had caught his attention. But Moka didn't respond. Instead, he jumped down from Yumi's lap and padded over to the window, his eyes locked on the tram as it disappeared into the distance.

Yumi remembered the time she found Moka in the park.

She was taking a walk after a long day at university when she saw him, wandering around the park without a care in the world. When Yumi met Moka, Moka was neither threatening nor frightened, but simply looked at her curiously.

"Hey there, little guy," Yumi had said, approaching him slowly. "You're all alone here. Don't you have a home to go to?"

Moka had purred and rubbed against her legs, and Yumi knew she couldn't leave him there alone. She took him home, and they quickly became inseparable. Yumi had never had a pet before, and she was amazed by how much joy Moka brought into her life.

She loved how he would curl up on her lap and purr contentedly as they spent hours together, talking and laughing. But now, as she listened to Moka's story about Tomoko, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness.

"You miss her, don't you, Moka?" Yumi said softly, stroking Moka's fur.

Moka opened one eye and looked at Yumi with a mournful expression. "Yes, I do," he said quietly. "Tomoko was the best owner a cat could ever ask for. She loved me, and I loved her. I miss her terribly."

Yumi felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. "I'm sorry, Moka. I wish I could have met Tomoko."

Moka sighed. "Tomoko was a very special person. She had a gift, you know.

A rare and precious gift that allowed her to see glimpses of the future. And with that gift, she could foresee the day when she would be forced to say goodbye to her beloved companion, Mocha.

Mocha said sadly, "If I could, I wish I could have been there to be with Tomoko until her death." She then added, "But now I'm happy that I met Yumi."

Yumi was overwhelmed with emotion as she hugged Mocha tightly. The thought of Tomoko's love for Mocha made her feel even more grateful for having him in her life.

More time passed, and Yumi successfully graduated from college. She had worked hard to balance her studies and taking care of Mocha, but it was all worth it. Mocha had been a constant source of comfort and companionship throughout her college years.

However, since that day, Moka has never spoken.
