Chapter 4: Midnight Obedience Training

The bell rang in the dead of night.

It was a soft, silvery chime from the cord by my pallet in the servants’ annex, but in the silence it was a clap of thunder. My eyes flew open. The darkness was total, but the memory of the taste—that collective, sour salt—flooded my mouth. I’d scrubbed until my skin was raw, but the ghost of it lingered, a phantom layer on my tongue.

Silas was a shadow by the door. “He’s summoned you. To his chambers.”

A cold that had nothing to do with the night air seeped into my bones. The training hall was a theater of horrors, but it was a known space. His private chambers were a rumor, a whispered legend of velvet and silence where punishments were personal.

He handed me a simple, clean shift. I pulled it over my head, the linen feeling like a lie. My fur, my once-white fur, still felt coarse in places, no matter how hard I’d scoured. My tail, as I followed Silas’s lamp through the labyrinthine halls, hung limp and heavy.

The door to Master Thorne’s chambers was darker than the surrounding oak, banded with iron. Silas knocked once, opened it, and nudged me inside. He did not follow.

The room was vast, a cave of shadow and firelight. A great hearth dominated one wall, the flames dancing over logs of fragrant wood. Their light glinted off gilded frames, caught the deep crimson of velvet drapes, and pooled on thick, silent carpets. The air was warm, thick with perfume—sandalwood and something sharper, like bergamot. It should have been soothing. It only made the acid in my stomach churn harder.

He stood before the fire, his back to me, a glass of something amber in his hand. He wore a dark robe of brocade, tied loosely. His silhouette was immense against the flames.

“Close the door.”

My hands trembled as I pushed the heavy wood shut. The click of the latch was the sound of a world closing.

He turned. The firelight carved planes of shadow and gold on his face, but his eyes were still the same winter chips. He took a slow sip, his gaze traveling over me from head to toe. I felt utterly transparent in the thin shift.

“Come here.”

I walked. The carpet swallowed the sound of my feet. I stopped a few paces away, my eyes downcast, fixed on the intricate patterns woven into the rug.

“Look at me, Luna.”

I forced my head up. His expression was unreadable, a mask of calm assessment.

“The hall was a lesson in degradation. Necessary. It stripped you of any illusion of privacy, of purity.” He set his glass down on the mantel with a soft click. “This is a lesson in endurance of a different kind. In focus. You will learn to serve one master. Only one. Your entire world will narrow to a single point of sensation. You will not hide in numbness here. You will be present for every second.”

He untied the sash of his robe. It fell open. Beneath, he was naked. My breath hitched. I’d seen him, of course, in the hall, but that was different. That was a tool, a piece of equipment. Here, in this intimate, perfumed space, his body was a command. He was aroused already, thick and heavy in the firelight.

He sat in a high-backed chair of dark leather, positioned to face the hearth. He gestured to the space between his knees.

“Kneel.”

The carpet was plush under my knees. The heat from the fire washed over my right side. The scent of him, clean skin and that subtle cologne, mixed with the sandalwood. It was confusing. It wasn’t the stink of the hall. It was… personal.

He didn’t grab me. He simply looked down, his hands resting on the arms of the chair. “Begin.”

I leaned forward. My mouth was desert-dry. I touched my lips to him, a timid brush. He was warm, smooth like stone left in the sun. I opened my mouth, tried to take him in, but my jaw, memory-deep, clenched in a spasm of anticipated pain.

“Relax your jaw.” His voice was low, conversational. “You are thinking of twenty men. There is only one. There is only this.”

I took a shuddering breath, let it out. I tried again, managing to take the tip. The taste was clean, musky. I flicked my tongue, a nervous habit.

“Deeper. Slowly. Don’t make yourself gag. Just feel the stretch.”

I obeyed, sinking down by increments. The stretch was immediate, a familiar burning ache in my jaw hinges. But he was right. Without the panic of a queue, without the rough hands, I could focus on the singular sensation. The smooth glide. The weight on my tongue. The way my throat fluttered, anticipating.

I got about halfway before the reflex triggered, a sharp convulsion at the back of my throat. I pulled back, coughing.

“Again.” No irritation. Just instruction.

I went back. This time, when the gag threatened, I paused, breathed hard through my flared nostrils, and willed the muscles to unlock. I sank another inch. The head pressed against the entrance to my throat. My eyes watered.

“Hold there.”

I held. The pressure was immense, a solid, living plug. I trembled with the effort not to retch.

“Now swallow.”

The command, here, was just as intimate as in the hall. I swallowed. The convulsion of my throat muscles around him was violent, involuntary. He let out a soft, controlled sigh. The vibration traveled through me.

“Good. Again.”

It became a rhythm, but a slow, torturous one dictated entirely by him. He was a patient, relentless metronome.

“Deeper. Hold. Breathe. Swallow.”

For what felt like an hour, we did nothing but that. My world shrank to the four points of fire-heat on my skin, the crush of the carpet under my knees, the scent of sandalwood, and the full, stretching, suffocating reality of him in my mouth and throat. The ache in my jaw settled into a permanent, throbbing baseline. Drool I couldn’t control slicked my chin and dripped onto his thighs.

He never lost his composure. His breathing remained even, except for the occasional slight hitch when I managed a particularly deep swallow. He would murmur feedback.

“Your teeth. Be aware of them.”

“Don’t tighten your lips like that. It’s inefficient.”

“Better. Your throat is starting to learn.”

His praise was worse than his cruelty. It was a hook in a raw part of my soul I didn’t know was still exposed. A pathetic, yearning part that clung to any scrap of approval. Each “good” or “better” felt like a drop of water in a desert, and I hated myself for craving it.

Then he shifted. “Enough of the lesson. Now, we work.”

His hands, which had been still, came up and gently—so gently—cupped the back of my head. Not to force, but to guide. “Keep your throat open. I’m going to move.”

He began to rock his hips, shallowly at first, a slow, measured slide in and out of my lips. The rhythm was devastating. It was not the frantic, selfish pounding of the men in the hall. It was controlled, deliberate, an act of absolute ownership. Each inward stroke pressed him deeper into that resistant, clenching channel of my throat.

“Breathe when I pull back,” he instructed, his voice a low rumble. “In through the nose. Out as I go in. Find the rhythm.”

I tried. The coordination was impossible at first. I’d gasp, choke, pull away. His hands would steady me, not punishing, just correcting. “Again.”

Slowly, a terrible, mechanical skill began to emerge. My body, betraying me, started to learn the rhythm. Breathe in as he withdrew. Breathe out as he filled me. The choking lessened to wet, strained gurgles. The fire popped. The clock on the mantel ticked. And the smooth, sliding sound of his movement in my mouth became the only sound that mattered.

Time lost all meaning. It was measured in strokes, in breaths, in the pooling ache in my knees and the screaming protest of my jaw. My mind frayed at the edges. Thoughts dissolved into sensory fragments: the taste of pre-ejaculate, bitter and clean; the feel of the leather chair under my claw-tips where I’d braced them; the way the firelight gleamed on the damp trail between my lips and him.

He increased the pace, minutely. The depth. My throat was raw, scraped. A high, thin whine escaped me with every exhalation.

“Quiet,” he murmured, not unkindly. “The only sound I want to hear is your obedience.”

I swallowed the sound. The whine became an internal scream.

I saw his knuckles whiten on the chair arms. His breathing, for the first time, grew ragged. The measured rhythm stuttered, deepened, became more urgent. He was close. A strange, desperate energy shot through me. I wanted it to be over. I needed it to be over. I hollowed my cheeks, pressed my tongue flat, and willed my throat to soften.

He let out a sharp, gratified sound. “There. Just like that.”

His thrusts lost their perfect control. They became shorter, harder, punching into my throat with a final, possessive force. He held himself deep, and with a low groan that seemed to come from the very foundation of the house, he spent himself.

The heat was a flood, a shocking, intimate violation deep inside a place that felt connected to my core. The pulse of him seemed to go on and on. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t move. I was simply a vessel being filled.

When he was finished, he held me there for a long moment, then gently pulled me off. I collapsed forward onto my hands, coughing violently, strings of saliva and seed connecting my ruined mouth to him. I sucked in great, ragged whoops of air. My throat felt flayed.

He stood, looking down at me as I trembled on the carpet. He refastened his robe. He picked up his glass, took another sip, as if he’d just finished reviewing accounts.

“You lasted three hours,” he said. “You learned the rhythm. You took what was given without breaking.” He paused. “Look at me.”

I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, smearing it further, and looked up. Tears, from strain and lack of air, blurred my vision.

“You are mine,” he stated, the firelight dancing in his eyes. “Every part of you. Your throat, which now knows my shape. Your jaw, which aches for me. That place in your mind that just wants to please. I own all of it.”

"But that is not all of you that I will claim tonight" I heard, before I was pushed onto my hands and knees, hearing him kneel behind me.

The push was firm, decisive, my palms hitting the deep pile of the carpet. The shift was rucked up around my waist before I could even process the movement, the cool air of the chamber hitting the backs of my thighs. I felt exposed, more than in the hall, this vulnerability was geometric and absolute.

He knelt behind me, a large, warm presence. One hand settled on the base of my spine, not roughly, but with a weight that pinned me in place.

“You’ve learned to take one thing,” his voice came, low and close. “Now you learn to take another.”

I felt the blunt, slick pressure of him, not at my mouth, but at a place that clenched tight with instinctual, virgin terror. My tail, which had been lying limp and soiled against my leg, bristled involuntarily, the fur standing on end. A low, desperate sound, like a wounded kit, leaked from my throat.

“Shhh,” he said, the hand on my back stroking once, a parody of comfort. “The tension is the enemy. It only hurts if you fight.”

I tried to obey. I tried to force the rigid panic from my muscles. But my body was a fortress under siege, every gate welded shut. He pressed forward, a slow, inexorable invasion. The stretch was a white-hot brand, a tearing fullness so different from the deep, swallowing ache of my throat.

I choked on a sob, my forehead pressing into the carpet, my claws extending and retracting, digging into the fibers. It was too much. It was a splitting.

“Breathe out,” he commanded, his own breath a controlled stream. I exhaled a shattered gasp, and as my body emptied of air, something gave way. He seated himself fully, a single, devastating motion that punched the breath back into me as a silent scream.

He did not move. The feeling of being impaled, of being filled in this impossible way, short-circuited my thoughts. There was just the brutal, stretching presence, a raw line of fire that mapped a new frontier of ownership inside me.

“See?” he murmured, his voice thick with a restraint I could feel trembling through his body into mine. “It’s done. The worst is over.”

It wasn’t. The worst was just beginning. He began to move, a slow withdrawal followed by a deliberate, grinding return. Each stroke was a lesson in geometry, in friction, in the betrayal of my own flesh. A thin, sharp pain traced every movement, but beneath it, buried under layers of shock and revulsion, something else flickered—a deep, internal friction that sparked a shameful, unwelcome heat.

My body, trained now to seek rhythm, began to respond to the cadence of his hips. A traitorous slickness eased his way, a physiological surrender my mind screamed against. I bit my lip until I tasted copper, trying to anchor myself to a cleaner pain.

His pace increased, not to a frenzy, but to a steady, driving rhythm that shook my whole frame. The hand on my back slid forward, around my ribs, his other arm hooking under my belly, pulling me up and back onto him. He held me there, my back against his chest, my head lolling against his shoulder. I was utterly enveloped, his scent, his heat, his strength a cage.

He spoke into my ear, his lips brushing the sensitive tip. “This is where you belong. This is your purpose. To be used. To be filled.”

The words, paired with the deep, claiming thrusts, unraveled something. The last fragile wall of resistance crumbled into dust. A sob broke free, then another, great heaving things that wracked through me, each one clamping me tighter around him. He groaned, a sound of pure satisfaction.

“Yes. Even your grief is mine.”

His control finally fractured. His movements became jarring, powerful, each one driving a choked sound from my ruined throat. The coiling tension in my own belly, that shameful heat, tightened towards a peak I didn’t understand and couldn’t escape. It was a precipice made of pain and degradation and a terrible, aching fullness.

He spent himself with a final, deep surge, a hot flood that seemed to brand me from the inside. At the same moment, my own body convulsed in a sharp, shocking release that had nothing to do with pleasure and everything to do with absolute, total surrender. It was a seismic shudder of defeat, wringing a broken cry from my lips.

He held me through the tremors, until the last aftershock faded. Then he lowered us both to the carpet, still joined, his body a heavy blanket. We lay there in the firelight, his breath slowing against my neck, my own coming in wet, ragged hitches.

After an eternity, he slid away. The loss of the feeling was its own violation, a sudden, hollow coldness. I felt empty in a way I knew was permanent.

I heard the soft clink of his glass again. I didn’t move. I stared at the intricate pattern of the rug, my vision blurred.

A blanket, surprisingly soft, was draped over me. He crouched beside my head, his expression unreadable. He reached out and brushed a matted strand of hair from my damp cheek. His touch was almost tender.

“You did well, Luna,” he said, his voice quiet. “The first time is always the hardest.”

He stood. “Sleep here. The fire will keep you warm. We will begin again tomorrow.”

He walked away, into the shadows of the chamber. I heard a door open and shut softly. I was alone with the popping fire and the lingering, aching evidence of what I had become. The hollow feeling inside me began to fill, not with relief, but with a cold, heavy knowing. This was my world now. This carpet, this fire, this pain, this hollow victory in his voice. This was all there was.
