Chapter 1: Introduction
Lynn, walk in to the motorcycle bar. She was dressed to kill in a black crop top, rip jeans and a leather jacket that she had not worn in a long time. If Jason will not take her out she is going to take her self out. She walks up to the bar and sits down and smiles at the bartender.
The bartender is a big burly man with a beard that reaches his chest and a dirty bandana tied around his head. He smiles back at her showing a mouth full of silver teeth.
"What can I get for you beautiful?" he asks with a wink.
Lynn smirks and leans in, "I'll have a beer, whatever you've got on draft is fine."
He nods and goes to pour her a beer. Lynn looks around the bar, taking in the sights and sounds. She can't help but feel a sense of excitement she hasn't felt in a long time.
She gets down about half of the beer when Pat Benatar "Love is a battle field" comes on. She puts her beer down and goes to dance. She starts to dance, letting the music guide, not having a care in the world. She's feeling alive, free. She feels eyes on her, looking her up and down, but she doesn't mind. She likes the attention. She likes the way it makes her feel.
A tall, broad-shouldered man in a leather vest leans against the bar, watching her. His arms are crossed over his chest, a cigarette dangling from his lips. He takes a drag, his eyes never leaving Lynn.
Lynn catches him looking and holds his gaze. She bites her lip and turns her back to him, swaying her hips to the beat. She can feel his eyes on her, burning into her skin. She likes it.
The song "My Heart will go on" starts to play. Lynn swayed to the song, when she felt a mans arms around her. She freaked at first but he was just holding her to dance with her, he let her lead and he followed like he was reading her mind.
The next song was "Faithfully", she turned around to see the man dancing with her.
He had dark hair, a strong jawline, and deep blue eyes that seemed to sparkle in the smoky bar light. He had a leather vest on with a patch that read "Knights of the Lord".
As the song ended the stranger said. "My name is Jesse and you are a great dancer can I buy you a beer?"
Jesse asked as he looked into Lynn's eyes.
Lynn smiled at him, "I could use another one, thanks."
Jesse walks to the bar and orders two beers. While the bartender pours them, Jesse says, "Two beers for the back booth."
Bartender says with a smile. "You got it Doc." Jess guilds her to the table and the bartender brings the beers. "Here you go Doc" and he leave.
Jesse takes a sip of his beer. "You know my name. What is yours?"
Jesse asked with a smirk.
Lynn takes a sip of her beer, a small drop of condensation trickling down the side of the glass. She licks it off and smiles at Jesse. "Lynn. And I hope you're not a doctor, Doc. That would be a shame."
Jesse chuckles, a deep and infectious sound that warms Lynn's insides. "I am a Doctor of Phycology.
But don't hold that against me." Jesse says with a smirk.
Lynn laughs, "Only if you promise to analyze me later."
Jesse raises an eyebrow, "No I leave that at work, but I could not help but the way you dancing and all, it seemed to me you had a lot a weight on you that you wanted to get a way from, even for a few hours."
Lynn smiles and leans back in the booth, "You're perceptive, Doc. But tonight, I just wanted to let loose, you know? Be someone... or something... different. Not the boring girlfriend stuck in a rut."
Jesse leans in, his voice low, "Tell me all about." Jesse says with a smile but a air of sympathy and empathy, he can see she has a lot."
Lynn laughs. "Yea you wan to hear my issues sure."
Jesse just leans back in the chair. "Try me, what is the worst that could happen. What is this weight you carry so heavy?" Jesse asks, his eyes never leaving hers.
Lynn takes a deep breath, her fingers tracing the rim of her beer glass. "It's just... I've been feeling stuck, you know? Like I'm living the same day over and over again. Work, home, Jason, repeat. I used to be so wild, so free. Now I'm just... boring."
Jesse says nothing, he lets her continue. He takes a sip of his beer and just listens.
Lynn continues, "I used to jump out of planes, go on spontaneous road trips, do things that scared the hell out of me. Now, I can't even remember the last time I did something that made me feel alive."
Jesse continues to say nothing, just continue to listen.
He can see the hurt and pain in her eyes, but also the desire to be free.
"I used to dress like this all the time," Lynn says, gesturing to her outfit. "Leather, ripped jeans, just... me. Now I'm in fucking business casual, trying to fit into some mold that doesn't even exist."
Jesse takes another sip of his beer, his gaze never leaving hers. Not saying a word just allowing her to get this weight off her chest.
Lynn's voice trails off, and she takes a long sip of her beer, her eyes meeting Jesse's again. She swallows hard, a vulnerable look in her eyes. "God, I sound like such a cliché, don't I? 'Poor little rich girl' syndrome and all that."
Jesse shakes his head, his voice soft and reassuring. "Even rich people are not happy at times, you can have all the money and all the stuff in the world and still not be happy." Jesse replied.
Lynn nods and smiles at him. "You're sweet. Most guys I know would have just rolled their eyes or told me to suck it up."
Jesse looks at her. "Do you feel better getting that all off your chest?" Jesse asks, his voice gentle.
Lynn nods, "Yeah, I do. Thanks for listening, Doc. It's not often I meet someone who just... understands. Shit it is Midnight, I need to get an Uber and go home and get some sleep for Sunday."
"I will walk you out and wait until the Uber gets here for you.
I don't want you walking out there alone." Jesse says getting up from the booth.
Lynn looks at him, taken aback, but pleased. "You don't have to do that, Jesse. I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself."
Jesse smirks, "I know you can, but If I did not do this and my mom found out she would beat my ass with a switch. "
Lynn laughs, "Alright, fine. But only because you're handsome and charming, and because I don't want your mom to whip you with a switch."
Jesse chuckles and holds out his arm for her to take. Lynn smiles and links her arm with his as they walk out of the bar. The cool night air hits them, and Lynn shivers slightly.
"Cold?" Jesse asks, pulling her a little closer to his side.
"A little," Lynn replies, looking up at him.
Jesse takes off his leather vest and drapes it over her shoulders.
"Here, this should help."
Lynn looks at him, surprised. "Thanks. You really didn't have to do that."
Jesse just smiles. "Yes I did, I was raised to be a protector of women and children, my family was matriarch family." Jesse says casually, his voice steady and sure.
Lynn wraps the vest around her shoulders, feeling the warmth of his body heat still lingering in the leather. She inhales deeply, taking in the scent of smoke, leather, and something distinctly Jesse. It's intoxicating.
They stand in the dimly lit alleyway behind the bar, waiting for the Uber. Lynn looks up at the night sky, the stars barely visible through the city's light pollution. She sighs softly.
"You know, I used to come go out all the time with my friend in college. We'd dress up, dance, and just... live.
The Uber shows us and Lynn give Jesse his cut back. Before she can get in the Uber; Jess grabs her arm, she turns and he kisses her.
He's gentle at first, but quickly becomes more passionate. Lynn responds immediately, her body pressing against his. His hands find their way to her waist, pulling her closer. She wraps her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. It had been so long since someone kissed her like this or kissed her at all.
The Uber honks, and they break apart, both breathing heavily. Jesse looks at her, his eyes full of desire and something more. "I had a great time tonight, Lynn. I don't want it to end. I know you have a boyfriend, but here." Jesse pulls out a card. "This is my club card with my person number on it. Call me any time Lynn." Jesse says handing her the card. "Even if it's just to talk. I want to see you again."
Lynn takes the card, her fingers brushing against Jesse's. A spark of electricity passes between them. She looks up at him, her eyes soft and vulnerable. "I want to see you again too, Jesse. But I don't want to hurt anyone."
Jesse nods understandingly. "I know. And I don't want to be the other guy. But I can't deny that there's something between us. And I think you feel it too."
Lynn bites her lip, nodding slightly. "I do." Lynn says as she gets in the Uber and as it drive off she keeps look at Jesse and knowing she is going home to Jason. She went out to have fun, not think about an affair, but she can not deny, her and Jesse had something tonight.
