Chapter 5: Resolution
Lynn looks at Jesse and smiles "Yes, I will leave Jason and move in with you. it may be crazy and a risk but that is what I want to live for. Last few days have made me feel more alive than I have been in two years Jesse. I am not the type to just come home sit down and watch TV. I want to ride, jump again, be who I really am. I tried this 9-5 shit and a stable boyfriend who is nothing more than a roommate right now and he thinks I should do it all at home even though we both work and pay bills. I am tired of that life and my life in the fucking office. I am a certified skydive trainer. That is what I should be doing, not pushing paper for some loser company, that I do not care about." Lynn spouts out.
"I want to live, Jesse, I want to feel alive again, and I want to feel that with you. I'll quit my job, pack my stuff, and move in with you.
Jesse's eyes widen in surprise, but he quickly recovers and grins, his blue eyes gleaming with excitement and desire. "I was hopping you would say yes to moving in with me. I want to take you place on the road. Show you the great USA and how amazing things are." Jesse says to Lynn. The grin Jesse put on his face is what puts Lynn over the moon.
"I have to pack a bag and tell Jason I am done. I need to do this alone Jesse." Lynn says with a determined look in her eyes. She stands up and starts to get dressed.
"Lynn, wait. Are you sure you want to do this? You can stay here with me tonight, and we can figure everything out together in the morning." Jesse says as he sits up and puts his hands on her shoulders.
Lynn looks at him and smiles, "Jesse, I appreciate it, but I need to do this on my own. I need to face him and tell him how I feel. I need him to see that I'm not the same person I was two years ago."
Jesse nods in understanding and calls her an Uber. While they wait, he pulls her close and kisses her deeply, his hands tangling in her hair. "Be careful, Lynn. And remember, no matter what happens, you're not alone. I'm here for you."
Lynn steps into the Uber, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and excitement. As the car pulls away, she looks out the window and watches Jesse disappear into the night. She takes a deep breath and turns to the driver. "Take me home."
Lynn walks into the apartment, her heels clicking against the hardwood floor.
Jason is sitting on the couch in a shirt and underwear, god Lynn hated when he did that.
"Ok Lynn, what hell is going on, you been weird since you went out Friday night. What is going on with you, what you meet someone who swept you off your feet. Jason says with a belly laugh. "So what is going on with you this weekend Lynn?" Jason asks, his voice distant as he stares at the TV screen, beer bottle in hand.
Lynn takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what she's about to do. She walks over to the couch and sits down next to Jason, turning to face him. "Jason, we need to talk." "About what?" Lynn swallows hard, her heart pounding in her chest. "About us."
Jason scoffs, "What about us? We're fine.
Lynn looks dead in her eyes, "No Jason, you are fine I am not and yes I met someone and I am leaving you to be with him." Jason turns his head to face her, a look of disbelief on his face. "You can't be serious, Lynn. You're just going to throw away our entire relationship for some guy you just met?"
Lynn's eyes harden. "This has nothing to do with him, Jason. It has everything to do with me. I've been miserable for the past two years, and I can't keep living like this. I need excitement, I need passion, I need to feel alive again. And I can't do that with you."
Jason's face turns red with anger. "You're a fucking slut, Lynn.
Lynn slaps Jason across the face as hard as she could "You have not had sex with me in three months, what did you think was gonna happen fucker. I have needs. You took form me for my thrill seeking and now you want to turn me in Donna Reed, no fucking thank fucker." Lynn shouts, tears streaming down her face.
Jason stands up, his face contorted with rage. "You fucking cunt! You think you can just leave me like this? After everything I've done for you?"
Lynn stands up as well, her voice shaking but firm. "Yes. Yes, I can. You do not own me and we are not married so I am free to leave and do what I want and I am leaving you Jason. I am packing a suit case and getting somethings and I will get the rest of my stuff later." Lynn says coldly, walking past Jason to get to the bedroom. She starts to grab clothes and tossing them into the suitcase. Jason follows her, his footsteps heavy and angry. "Lynn, come on, don't do this. We can work this out. I'll start being more... more... passionate, like you want. I'll make you happier, I promise."
Lynn stops and turns to face him, her eyes flashing with anger. "No, Jason. It's too late for that. You had your chance, and you blew it. I deserve better, and I'm going to go find it.
Lynn closes the suit case calls an Uber and waits for it as Jason is walking up and down his hands rubbing his head in disbelief. "What is this guy after a few days give you that I do not give you Lynn? Is security and comfort just not enough for you?" Jason yell to Lynn.
" Security and comfort are great, but they're not everything, Jason. You can't buy happiness or excitement. You can't plan for passion. Sometimes, you just have to live in the moment and take a chance." Lynn says, her eyes filled with passion and determination.
The Uber arrives, and Lynn grabs her suitcase and walks out the door, not looking back at Jason. As she gets in the car, she sighs heavily, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. She looks out the window and watches her old life fade away.
The driver pulls up to Jesse's apartment, and Lynn climbs out, suitcase in hand.
Lynn buzzes and Jess lets her in. Lynn looks at Jesse and says with a smile. "Lets take a risk together."
