Chapter 7: The Branding
The buzzing was in her bones. It followed her out of the sterile clinic, down into the subway, a phantom vibration that had nothing to do with the toy still nestled inside her. It was the echo of the tattoo gun, a sound she now realized had been waiting for her in the background of her life for weeks.
Jake steered her by the elbow, his grip firm and proprietary. Tyler trailed behind, a silent ghost with his camera bag. Charly walked beside her, his hand in hers, but his fingers were limp. He hadn’t spoken since Jake said the word brand.
The entrance to the parlor was an unmarked black door wedged between a pawn shop and a boarded-up diner. A single, red neon ‘INK’ glowed in a grimy window below street level. Jake knocked a rhythm—shave and a haircut—and the door buzzed open.
The air inside was thick and warm, smelling of antiseptic, incense, and something darker, like old blood and carbon. Heavy metal, something slow and sludgy, oozed from speakers. The walls were a chaotic tapestry of flash art: skulls, roses, snarling panthers, and pin-up girls with demon eyes. A large man, his own skin a canvas of intricate blackwork, looked up from behind a glass counter. His eyes, small and shrewd, scanned Jake, dismissed Tyler and Charly, and settled on Sara.
“Jake,” the man grunted. “This the canvas?”
“This is her, Bones. Primed and ready.”
Bones nodded, a slow, deliberate motion. He looked at Sara not as a person, but as a piece of real estate. “Where we putting it?”
“Here,” Jake said, his thumb brushing the soft, swollen curve of Sara’s left breast, just above the areola, where the skin was still pink and sensitive from surgery. “Right on the merchandise. Initials. J.A.K. Script, but clean. No frills.”
A fresh, cold dread dripped down Sara’s spine. This was permanent. More permanent than the silicone inside her. This wouldn’t fade or soften. It would be there when she showered, when she dressed, when Charly looked at her in the morning light. It would be there when she was eighty.
“Please,” she heard herself whisper. The word was a dry leaf, crumbling in the dense air.
Jake’s hand moved from her breast to cup her chin, forcing her to look at him. His eyes were calm, almost kind. “Please what, Sara? You signed the contract. Your husband agreed. This is just the receipt. Proof of purchase. You want to be owned? This is what owned looks like.” He leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. “And deep down, your slutty little cunt is getting wet just thinking about it, isn’t it?”
She shuddered. He was right. A treacherous, shameful heat was pooling low in her belly, utterly divorced from the fear constricting her throat.
Bones led them to a back room, even darker, dominated by a black leather chair that looked like a dental torture device. The gun and inks were laid out on a stainless-steel tray. “Shirt off,” Bones said, pulling on nitrile gloves. “Brace yourself. On the sternum’s a spicy spot.”
Tyler was already setting up. The camera on its tripod, a small light to combat the gloom. Charly stood by the wall, his phone in his hand, but he wasn’t filming yet. He was just staring.
With trembling fingers, Sara unbuttoned her blouse. She let it fall off her shoulders. The surgical bra came next. The cool, inky air hit her naked skin, her massive new breasts feeling heavy and exposed. She sat in the chair, the leather cold and sticky against her back.
Jake stood to her left, one hand resting possessively on her shoulder. “Roll it, Ty. Charly, get in close. I want to see her eyes.”
The red light on the camera glowed. The hum of the tattoo gun splintered the music as Bones tested it. The sound was a thousand angry bees.
“Alright, sweetheart. Hold still. Breathing’s fine, flinching ain’t.”
The needle touched her skin.
It wasn’t a cut, but a deep, burning scratch. A line of white-hot fire being drawn just above her breast. She gasped, her hands flying to grip the arms of the chair. Her knuckles turned white.
“That’s it,” Jake cooed, his voice a smooth counterpoint to the buzzing violence. “Take it. It’s your first mark. The most important one. Every guy who fucks you from now on will see this. They’ll know who you really belong to.”
Bones worked with a brutal efficiency. The ‘J’ took shape, a elegant, looping character that felt like a brand from a cattle iron. Tears welled in Sara’s eyes, blurring the grim posters on the wall. She bit her lip, tasting copper.
“You’re doing so good, baby,” Charly’s voice came, soft and strained from behind the camera light. He’d moved. He was filming now. “You look so beautiful. So brave.”
His words, meant to comfort, felt like a final betrayal. He was documenting this. Making it eternal in a different way. The gun moved to the ‘A’, the pain a constant, vibrating ache now, settling into the bone.
Jake’s hand slid from her shoulder, down over the quivering swell of her right breast. He pinched her nipple, hard, through the tender flesh. The dual sensations—the searing scratch on one side, the sharp twist on the other—made her cry out, a short, sharp sob.
“None of that,” Jake murmured, his fingers rolling her nipple cruelly. “You’re being inscribed. It’s a sacred thing. Look at your husband. He’s honoring this.”
She forced her eyes open, finding Charly’s lens. His face was half in shadow, but she could see his mouth was slightly open, his breathing shallow. He was aroused. Watching her be marked was turning him on. This realization unspooled something fundamental inside her. The last fragile thread of resistance snapped.
She let go. Her body went slack in the chair, accepting the bite of the needle, accepting Jake’s punishing grip on her other breast. She descended into the pain and the humiliation, and there, in that deep, dark place, she found a perverse serenity. This was her truth. This was her price. She was property.
The final ‘K’ was completed. Bones wiped away the excess ink and blood with a cold, damp cloth, revealing the work. Three letters, black and stark against her flushed skin. JAK. They looked small and immense all at once.
“Clean lines,” Bones grunted, slathering on a layer of ointment and covering it with a clear adhesive dressing. “Don’t fuck with it. Keep it clean.”
Jake pulled out a wad of cash, counting it onto the tray. Then he turned to Sara, his eyes blazing with triumph. “Stand up. Let me see my name on you.”
She stood, legs shaky. He admired the tattoo, then cupped both her breasts, hefting their weight, his thumbs stroking the angry skin around the fresh ink. “Perfect. Now everyone knows.” He looked at Charly. “You got it all?”
“Yeah,” Charly whispered, lowering his phone. His eyes were glistening.
“Good. Let’s go celebrate.”
They didn’t go to a bar. They went to Jake’s apartment, a sparse, utilitarian space that smelled of stale beer and clean laundry. Tyler vanished into a side room with his equipment, the soft click of keyboards following him.
Jake pushed Sara towards the bedroom. “On the bed. On your back. I want to christen the new artwork.”
Charly followed, hovering in the doorway, his phone once again held up, a silent, compliant chronicler.
Sara lay back on the coarse comforter, the adhesive dressing on her chest crinkling. Jake stripped off his shirt, his muscles moving under his skin. He unbuckled his jeans, pulling out his already hard cock. He stroked himself, looking down at her.
“You see this, Charly?” Jake said, not taking his eyes off Sara. “This is what her submission buys her. This is what your permission gets you. A front row seat to the real thing.”
He climbed onto the bed, kneeling between her legs. He didn’t kiss her. He didn’t touch her with anything resembling affection. He hooked his hands under her knees, yanking her towards him, spreading her wide. Her dress was bunched around her waist. He rubbed the head of his cock through her slickness, a rough, cursory preparation.
“Look at the camera, Sara,” he commanded. “Look at your husband while I take what’s mine.”
She turned her head. She met Charly’s gaze through the lens. She saw his anguish, his ecstasy, his utter defeat.
Jake slammed into her in one brutal, deep thrust.
She cried out, the force of it jolting through her, making the fresh tattoo scream in protest. He didn’t wait for her to adjust. He set a punishing, rhythmic pace, each drive of his hips pounding her into the mattress. The bedframe knocked against the wall in a time-keeping beat.
“You feel that, you branded whore?” Jake grunted, his composure fracturing into raw, physical need. “You feel me owning this cunt? This is my cunt now. Say it.”
“It’s… it’s your cunt,” Sara gasped, the words punched out of her with each thrust.
“Louder. For the camera.”
“It’s your cunt!” she cried, the admission tearing from her, a release as violent as the sex.
“Damn right.” He leaned forward, bracing himself on his hands, his face inches from hers. His sweat dripped onto her chest, onto the dressing covering his name. His pace became erratic, frantic. “Gonna cum inside my property. Mark you inside and out. Your husband can clean you up after.”
He let out a guttural roar, his body shuddering, and she felt the hot, sudden flood deep within her. He collapsed on top of her for a moment, his weight crushing, the smell of him and sex and ink filling her nostrils. Then he rolled off.
He stood, tucking himself back into his jeans. He looked at Charly, who was still filming, his hand shaking now. “Your turn, cuck. She’s primed. But you don’t get to fuck her. You get to taste me in her. That’s your celebration.”
Charly’s phone slowly lowered. He looked from Jake’s satisfied face to Sara, lying spent and open on the bed, Jake’s semen already leaking onto her thighs. A profound shame crossed his features, followed by a hunger so base it erased everything else.
He moved to the bed. He didn’t look at Sara’s face. He bent between her legs.
Sara stared at the water-stained ceiling, the buzzing finally, blessedly gone from her ears, replaced by a silence so absolute and hollow it felt like the end of the world. The only sound was the soft, desperate lapping of her husband’s tongue, and the distant, mocking click of Tyler’s keyboard in the other room.
