Chapter 4: Silent Submission

The scent of lemon polish and old paperbacks did nothing to cleanse her palate. Sara moved through the tidy spaces of her home like a ghost, the memory of her own slickness still a phantom feel on her fingertips. She had showered, scrubbing until her skin was pink, but the shame was a stain beneath. Charly’s key in the lock at six o’clock was both a relief and a new kind of torture.

“Hey, you,” he said, dropping his messenger bag by the door. He kissed her temple, his touch gentle. “You okay? You look tired.”

“Just stuck on a project,” she said, forcing a smile. The lie was ash in her mouth. “Brain fried.”

He nodded, already pulling his laptop from the bag. “Tell me about it. My code’s a nightmare today. Let’s just… vegetate.”

They ordered Thai food, ate it on the couch with a documentary about sharks murmuring on the TV. Charly’s feet were in her lap, his socks worn thin at the heels. This was their normal. This was her real life. She ran her thumb over his ankle bone, clinging to the solid, kind reality of him.

Her phone, face-down on the coffee table, was a black hole warping the gravity in the room.

When it buzzed, a single, flat vibration, she flinched so violently she knocked a spring roll from its carton.

“You’re jumpy,” Charly murmured, eyes on a great white breaching in slow motion.

“Caffeine,” she whispered, staring at the phone as if it might detonate.

Richard: Is he there?

Her breath shallowed. She typed under the guise of checking a notification.

Sara: Yes.

Richard: Good. You need to remember your place isn’t solitary. It’s in service, even when he’s near. Slip your hand under the blanket. Touch yourself while he’s right there.

Her blood turned to ice, then to fire. She read the words three times. The audacity was astronomical. The danger was absolute. The thrill was a lightning strike up her spine, instantly making her wet.

“This is incredible footage,” Charly said, nodding at the screen.

“Yeah,” she breathed, the sound strangled.

She pulled the woven blanket from the back of the couch, draping it over her legs and lap. The fabric was heavy. A fort. A confessional. Her heart pounded in her throat. She glanced at Charly’s profile, his relaxed face illuminated by the blue TV light. He trusted her. He loved her. He had no idea the monster she was inviting into their home, onto this very couch.

Her hand, trembling, crept under the blanket. She wore soft cotton shorts. She slid her fingers beneath the waistband, down over the plane of her stomach. Her skin was fever-hot.

Richard: Now.

She let her head fall back against the cushion, pretending to watch the screen. Her middle finger found her clit, already swollen, a tiny, aching heartbeat under her touch. She circled it once, a slow, secret pass. A jolt of pure sensation made her thighs tense.

Charly shifted, settling deeper. “His meeting got moved to tomorrow, by the way.”

“Whose?” she managed, her voice thin.

“My dad’s. He was gonna drop by for a coffee after his dentist thing, but he rescheduled.” Charly took a sip of his beer. “Probably for the best. You’ve been stressed.”

Sara’s finger stilled. Richard. Here. In this space. The thought was an abyss. The thought made her press harder, a sharp, delicious burst of pressure. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep silent.

Richard: Describe it to me. The feeling. While you do it.

She fumbled for her phone with her left hand, keeping the right under the blanket, moving in slow, relentless circles. The text box was a blur. She typed one-handed.

Sara: I’m wet. I’m touching my clit. It’s throbbing.

Richard: Are you spread open for me?

She hooked her thumb, pulling herself wider under the cover. The lewd exposure, the cool air of the room on her inner lips, the warmth of her own hand—it was dizzying.

Sara: Yes.

Richard: Tell me how much of a cheating whore you are. While you fuck your fingers.

Tears burned her eyes again, this time from the sheer, brutal intensity of the violation. Charly’s leg was a warm weight across her lap. His father’s words were in her head, commanding her body. She was splitting apart.

She pushed two fingers inside herself, a sharp, full stretch. She was so slick it was a shameful squelch. She pumped them slowly, deeply, the heel of her hand grinding against her clit with each thrust.

Sara: I’m a cheating whore. I’m fingering my cunt on the couch next to my husband.

She sent it. The truth, weaponized. Her hips gave a tiny, involuntary buck.

“You cold?” Charly asked, glancing over. “You’re shivering.”

“A little,” she gasped. “Just… a chill.”

He smiled, turning back to the TV. “Cuddle up.”

Richard: Come. Now. Quietly. For me.

It was an order she couldn’t resist. The coil in her belly was wound to breaking. She thought of Richard’s stern mouth, his disapproving eyes watching her degrade herself. She thought of him rescheduling his visit, of his potential presence in this room. She thought of Charly’s utter ignorance, inches away.

Her orgasm ripped through her with silent, brutal force. Her back arched off the couch cushion, her mouth open in a soundless scream. Her cunt clenched rhythmically, violently, around her driving fingers, waves of pleasure so intense they crossed into pain. She saw stars, her vision tunneling to the glow of the television, the sharks circling oblivious in the deep.

She collapsed, trembling, soaked with sweat and her own release. The smell of sex rose, faint but unmistakable, to mix with the scent of basil and noodles. She pulled her hand free, sticky, and clenched it into a fist under the blanket.

Her phone buzzed one final time.

Richard: I can smell you from here, you filthy girl. Clean up. He’ll be home all day tomorrow. I expect creativity.

The documentary’s credits began to roll. Charly stretched. “Ready for bed?”

“In a minute,” Sara said, her voice raw. “I’ll tidy up.”

He kissed her, his lips soft on hers. He tasted of beer and kindness. He didn’t notice the frantic beat of her heart, the scent of her sin on the air. He padded off to the bedroom, leaving her alone in the dim room.

She sat in the quiet, the blanket a damp, accusing shroud over her lap. The hollow feeling was back, but it was different now. It wasn’t empty. It was filled with a dreadful, terrifying anticipation. He was coming here. Into her sanctuary. And he expected creativity.

She had never felt more alive, or more damned.
