Chapter 125: 18.1.1
Koen’s face was a brilliant, burning scarlet, his orange eyes wide as he scrambled back against the worn leather of the settee. “It ain’t fair,” he grumbled, the words tangling in his throat. “You just… you got that… that fucking voice ‘cause you’re lookin’ down at me. Literally. It’s a height thing. That’s all.”
Gabriel, leaning against the stone mantlepiece with practiced insouciance, arched a perfect blonde brow. A slow, wicked smile spread across his lips.“Oh? Is that the theory, my dear hunter? That my considerable charm is merely a product of vertical advantage?”
“Yeah,” Koen insisted, crossing his arms over his chest, trying to look defiant instead of flustered. His tail, a betraying indicator of his demonic half, gave a nervous twitch against the cushion. “If I was taller’n you, you wouldn’t be so… so…”
“So effective?” Gabriel supplied, his tone dripping with amused condescension. He pushed off the mantle. “What a fascinating hypothesis. Shall we test it?”
Before Koen could stammer a reply, Gabriel closed his eyes. A soft, golden light shimmered around his form, not the blinding radiance of his true celestial body, but a subtle, localized glow. Koen watched, mesmerized, as the archangel’s frame seemed to compress. The air whispered with constrained power. Gabriel’s shoulders narrowed slightly, his limbs proportionally adjusting until he stood, not at his usual imposing six-foot-three, but a full half-foot shorter than Koen.
He now looked up at the half-demon, his light blue eyes glinting with challenge. He was still Gabriel—flawless skin, sharp features, that infuriatingly handsome face—but undeniably, fundamentally shorter. The dynamic in the room physically inverted.
“There,” Gabriel said, his voice unchanged, that same low, commanding rasp. “Five-foot-six of pure archangelic arrogance. Does this level the field, Koen? Or does it merely expose the flaw in your logic?”
Koen blinked, his brain sluggishly processing the shift. He uncrossed his arms, standing a little straighter, a flicker of stupid confidence warming his chest. “Huh.Okay. Yeah, that’s… different.” He smirked, his sharp canines showing. “Guess you ain’t so scary now.”
Gabriel’s smile didn’t waver. It deepened. He took a step forward, then another, closing the distance with a predator’s grace that had nothing to do with height. Koen’s smirk faltered as Gabriel stopped mere inches from him, having to tilt his head back to maintain eye contact. The intensity in that gaze was undiminished. It was, if anything, more concentrated.
“Scary?” Gabriel murmured. He placed a hand on Koen’s chest, right over the steady thump of his heart. The touch was feather-light but searing. “You mistake dominance for stature, my love. A fatal error.”
He pushed. It wasn’t a shove of brute strength—Gabriel’s magic-threaded limbs held a different kind of power—but a firm, inexorable pressure. Koen stumbled backward, his calves hitting the edge of their wide, low bed. He landed on the thick furs with a soft whump, looking up at the archangel who now loomed over him from his kneeling position on the floor.
“See?” Koen tried, voice cracking. “You’re still—“
Gabriel silenced him by climbing onto the bed, straddling his thighs. He moved with a devastating, possessive certainty. “I’m still what?” he asked, his hands coming up to frame Koen’s face. His thumbs stroked the high freckled plains of his cheeks.“In charge? Absolutely.”
He leaned down and kissed him. It wasn’t gentle. It was a conquest. Gabriel’s tongue swept into Koen’s mouth, hot and demanding, and Koen moaned into the violation, his hands flying up to clutch at Gabriel’s tunic. The fabric was stupidly soft, some celestial nonsense, and it tore easily under Koen’s desperate grip. Gabriel broke the kiss with a low chuckle, shrugging out of the ruined garment. His chest was pale marble in the firelight.
“You talk too much,” Gabriel breathed against his lips, his hands dropping to the buckle of Koen’s belt. The leather gave way with a metallic snick. “Always thinking you’ve figured it out. You’re so beautifully, profoundly simple.”
Koen wanted to protest, but Gabriel’s hand was inside his trousers, wrapping around his already-hard cock, and all coherent thought dissolved into a choked gasp. His hips jerked off the bed. “F-fuck, Gabe…”
“Precisely,” Gabriel purred. He worked his hand, a slow, torturous stroke that had Koen seeing sparks. His other hand shoved Koen’s trousers and smalls down his hips, just enough. The cool air of the room contrasted sharply with the heat of Gabriel’s grip.
Then the hand was gone. Koen whimpered at the loss, a pathetic, hungry sound that made Gabriel’s eyes darken with satisfaction. The archangel spat casually into his palm, then reached behind himself. Koen watched, mesmerized and aching, as Gabriel prepared himself with a few brisk, efficient fingers, his expression one of focused intent. There was no asking, no gentle preamble. This was the point being made.
“You think this is about height?” Gabriel growled, positioning himself. He looked down the line of his own body, his gaze locking with Koen’s wide, lust-blown eyes. “It’s about this.”
He sank down in one smooth, devastating motion.
Koen cried out, a raw, shattered sound. The stretch was immense, breathtaking, Gabriel’s body hot and tight as a vice around him. Being filled so completely by the smaller form was a cognitive dissonance that short-circuited his brain. Gabriel was everywhere, a crushing, perfect weight.
“Oh, God,” Koen gasped, his claws digging into the furs.
“Not quite,” Gabriel said, his voice strained only with pleasure. He began to move, rolling his hips in a deep, circular grind that made Koen see white.“Just me. Isn’t this enough?Hmm? Tell me I’m enough.”
He punctuated the question with a sharp, downward thrust that knocked the air from Koen’s lungs.
“You—you’re—ah!—enough, fuck, you’re enough!” Koen babbled, his back arching. His tail thrashed wildly against the bedding.
Gabriel rode him with brutal, elegant precision. Each rise was slow, torturous, each fall a punishing claim. He leaned forward, bracing his hands on Koen’s chest, his shorter stature allowing him to press their bodies together, chest to chest, his mouth hovering over Koen’s.
“Say it,” Gabriel demanded, his breath hot on Koen’s lips. His hips never lost their rhythm. “Say the height doesn’t matter.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Koen groaned, his hands scrabbling up Gabriel’s back, feeling the powerful muscles work beneath sweat-slick skin. “Shit, please, it doesn’t fucking matter, you win, you always win—”
“I know,” Gabriel whispered, and then he was kissing him again, messy and deep, swallowing Koen’s broken moans. His pace quickened, turning punishing, the slap of skin on skin filling the room alongside their ragged breaths. Koen could feel the coil of his own release tightening, unbearably hot. He was babbling, a stream of filth and praise and surrender.
Gabriel’s movements became erratic, his perfect composure cracking. A sheen of sweat coated his chest. “Look at me,” he commanded, and Koen obeyed, drowning in those glacial blue eyes. “You’re going to come for me. Now.”
It wasn’t a suggestion. It was a decree. With a final, deep drive that felt like he was being speared to the core, Koen shattered. Pleasure erupted through him, white-hot and blinding, his vision graying at the edges as he spilled inside Gabriel with a ragged shout that was almost a sob.
Gabriel followed him over, his own release striping Koen’s stomach as he clenched around him, milking every last pulse. For a long moment, the only sounds were the crackle of the fire and their labored breathing.
Slowly, Gabriel collapsed forward, his head resting on Koen’s shoulder. His smaller form fit perfectly in the hollow of Koen’s body. He was still inside him, still connected.
“So?” Gabriel murmured into his skin, his voice husky and sated. “Still think it’s about being taller?”
Koen, utterly spent and blissfully blank, managed a weak shake of his head. He nuzzled into Gabriel’s sweat-damp hair, his arms coming up to hold the archangel close.“Nope. You’re just… you.”
Gabriel sighed, a contented, almost peaceful sound. “Finally,” he said, “he understands.”
They lay tangled for a long while, the fire settling into embers. Koen traced idle patterns on the smooth skin of Gabriel’s back, his mind pleasantly empty. The concept of height as power had been thoroughly dismantled, crushed under the weight of Gabriel’s will and the searing memory of his body.
Gabriel stirred first, propping himself up on an elbow. He looked down at Koen, a contemplative, predatory light in his eyes. “So you’ve accepted that size is irrelevant to my topping you,” he said, his voice a low rumble in the quiet room.
“Yeah,” Koen mumbled, still half-lost in the afterglow. “Got it. Loud and clear.”
“Good.” Gabriel’s finger traced the line of Koen’s jaw. “But tell me, Koen… does the idea ever flip in that pretty, simple head of yours?” He leaned closer, his breath a warm tickle. “Do you ever want to be the smaller one?”
Koen blinked, his brain struggling to switch tracks. “Huh? But… I am the smaller one.Normally. You’re always taller.” He stated it like a fundamental law of the universe, his brow furrowed in confusion.
A slow, wicked smile spread across Gabriel’s face, all sharp edges and promise. “Normally,” he echoed. “But ‘normal’ is a suggestion for beings like me, darling. A starting point.”
Before Koen could form another question, Gabriel rolled off of him and stood beside the bed. The golden light shimmered around him again, but this time it did not condense. It expanded. Koen watched, his mouth going dry, as Gabriel’s form stretched upward. His limbs elongated, his shoulders broadened, his entire presence filling the space of the room in a new, impossible way.
The process was silent and swift. Where Gabriel had been a perfect, manageable six-foot-three, then a challenging five-foot-six, he now towered. He stopped when the top of his head nearly brushed the exposed wooden beams of their ceiling. He looked down at Koen from a dizzying height, two full feet of additional archangel framing him in shadow and firelight.
Koen’s breath hitched. He lay perfectly still, pinned not by weight but by sheer, staggering scale. Gabriel was monumental. His flawless features were the same, but everything was amplified, the angles of his face more severe, the span of his chest vast. Koen felt a visceral, primal thrill shoot down his spine, straight to his groin.
“Oh,” Koen whispered, the sound small and lost.
“Like this?” Gabriel’s voice was deeper, a resonant vibration that Koen felt in his ribs. He took a single, ground-shaking step closer to the bed. The floorboard creaked under the new, colossal weight. “Does this make you feel small, hunter?”
Koen could only nod, a frantic, jerky motion. His face was on fire, a blush that heated his entire body. His thoughts, usually slow and deliberate, now raced in a frantic, depraved loop. He pictured those huge hands, easily spanning his waist. He imagined the sheer, overwhelming coverage of that body, swallowing him whole. The differential in strength would be absolute, laughable. He would be utterly, completely possessed.
Gabriel leaned down, bracing his massive hands on the edge of the mattress. The bed frame groaned in protest. His shadow enveloped Koen entirely. “Your mind,” Gabriel murmured, the deep tone making the words feel physical. “I can hear the gears grinding from here. What filthy, beautiful things are you thinking?”
Koen opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He just stared up, his orange eyes wide, his body thrumming with a terrified, eager anticipation. He was a blush made flesh, waiting to be consumed.
