Sara and Charly go to a edm party, the place is packed and they are yaving fun, getting a buzz, and taking MDMA. They are feeling adventurous tonight, so when two russian oligarchs invite them to their VIP booth they accept straight away. But what will happen to them that night will change them, their relationship and their life completely.

Chapter 2: The Price of a Button

The velvet rope snapped shut behind them, muffling the pounding bass to a dull thud in their chests. The air in the VIP booth was suddenly thick, chilled by overzealous AC and heavy with the scent of expensive cologne and cigar smoke that hadn’t quite dissipated. Below, the dance floor pulsed like a frantic heart, a sea of anonymous bodies lost in the strobe. Up here, it felt like being in a predatory bird’s nest.

Dimitri Volkov sprawled in a deep leather armchair, one ankle resting on the opposite knee, a tumbler of clear liquid dangling loosely from his fingers. His ice-blue eyes, unnervingly sharp, tracked Sara as the bulky bodyguard deposited her and Charly just inside the plush space. Boris Federov occupied a wider couch, his massive frame seeming to absorb the dim, flickering light. He nursed a similar drink, his expression a mask of reserved intensity, his gaze flicking between Sara and the visibly tense Charly.

No one spoke for a beat. The silence stretched, charged and uncomfortable, broken only by the muffled thump from below and the clink of ice in Dimitri’s glass as he took a slow sip. Sara, still riding the crest of the MDMA and the raw exposure of the dance floor, felt a fresh wave of heat flood her cheeks. The predatory focus hadn’t lessened; it had intensified, contained now in this intimate, luxurious cage.

Dimitri finally broke the silence, his voice smooth, low, and devoid of warmth. "Quite a performance." His pale eyes flicked to Charly, a hint of amusement playing on his lips. "Your wife... possesses remarkable... energy."

Charly shifted, his hand finding Sara’s lower back, a protective gesture that felt suddenly small. "She... we were just dancing." His voice sounded strained, too loud in the quiet space.

"Were you?" Dimitri mused, swirling his vodka. His gaze returned to Sara, lingering on the flush creeping down her neck, the slight tremble in her hands. "It looked like something more. Something... primal." He took another sip. "Exhibitionism is a potent aphrodisiac, no?"

Sara met his gaze, defiance warring with the drug-induced openness inside her. This wasn't just watching anymore; it was dissection. Before she could formulate a retort, Boris moved. With deliberate slowness, he reached inside his jacket pocket and slid a matte black credit card across the polished table towards Sara. It stopped inches from her hand.

"For you," Boris rumbled, his accent thicker than Dimitri’s, the words like stones dropped onto velvet. His eyes, dark and unreadable, held hers. "A small token of appreciation. For the show."

Sara blinked. "What?"

Boris gestured vaguely towards her top – a flimsy, sequined halter that suddenly felt incredibly revealing. "For every button you undo," he stated, the gravel in his voice hardening, "another zero gets added to the limit." A slow, predatory smile stretched his lips, devoid of warmth. "Unless..." His gaze slid pointedly to Charly. "...your husband wants to stop you?"

His chuckle was low, a vibration felt more than heard, a sound that carried an unmistakable threat. It wasn't playful. It was a challenge, a gauntlet thrown squarely at Charly's feet.

Sara’s breath hitched. The MDMA amplified the offer, making the plastic card gleam with impossible allure. Money. A lot of money. For something so simple. Just buttons. Her fingers, almost of their own accord, drifted towards the first clasp at the side of her neck. A tiny, intricate thing. She could feel Dimitri’s cold, assessing stare, Boris’s heavy, intimidating presence. And Charly. His hand on her back had gone rigid. She could feel the tension radiating off him, the internal war raging. Protectiveness? Possessiveness? Or something darker, more shameful, stirred by the raw display downstairs and now this twisted proposition?

Her fingertip brushed the cool metal of the clasp. One flick. That’s all it would take. The sequins glinted under the low light. She glanced at Charly. His face was pale, jaw clenched so tight a muscle jumped. His eyes were wide, fixed on her hand hovering near the clasp, then darting to the impassive faces of the Russians, then back to her. He looked trapped. Humiliated. But beneath the surface panic, Sara thought she saw a flicker of something else – a terrible, fascinated hunger. That secret part of him she’d sometimes sensed but never named.

"Charly?" she whispered, her voice husky. The question hung in the air, heavy as the cigar smoke. Do you want this? Do you want to stop me?

He didn’t move. Didn’t speak. Just stared, paralyzed, his breath coming shallowly. His silence was louder than any protest.

Dimitri watched the exchange, a faint, cruel smile touching his lips. He leaned forward slightly. "The offer stands, malen'kaya ptichka," he murmured to Sara, the Russian endearment sounding like a barb. "Buttons. Or pride. Your choice." He gestured lazily with his glass towards Charly. "His seems... suspended."

Sara’s heart hammered against her ribs. The drug sang in her veins, blurring the edges of consequence, amplifying the thrill, the danger, the sheer absurd power of the moment. Her thumb found the clasp. It was smooth, cool. She looked at Boris. His dark eyes were fixed on her fingers. Waiting.

With a breath that shuddered slightly, she pressed down. The tiny clasp popped open with a soft snick. The left strap of her halter top loosened, revealing another inch of smooth skin, the curve of her shoulder.

Boris gave a single, slow nod. He didn't reach for a phone or a notepad. The zero was simply implied, added in the silent ledger of power between them.

Sara's hand moved to the next clasp, lower down her side, near her ribs. Her gaze locked with Boris's. His expression remained unchanged, but the intensity in his eyes deepened. She could feel Charly trembling beside her, his silence screaming louder than the muffled bass. His hand dropped from her back, hanging limply at his side.

Snick. The second clasp opened. The fabric gaped slightly, revealing a sliver of the lace edge of her bra. The air felt colder on her skin.

"Good girl," Dimitri purred, his voice like ice scraping glass. He took another sip of vodka, his eyes never leaving her. "Very good."

Sara’s fingers hovered near the third and final clasp, the one that would let the front fall open entirely. Her pulse roared in her ears. The world narrowed to the black card, the impassive Russian faces, and Charly’s agonized stillness beside her. The MDMA painted the moment in surreal, sharp-edged colours. One more clasp. One more zero. How much was too much? How much did Charly’s silence cost?

Before her fingers could move again, Boris shifted his weight. He reached into his pocket, not for a wallet, but for something small. He placed a single, unmarked white pill on the table beside the black card. It looked innocuous. Deadly.

"New offer," Boris stated, his voice cutting through the tension. He tapped the pill. "Take this. Now. With vodka." He gestured towards Dimitri, who smoothly lifted a freshly poured tumbler from a side table, holding it out towards Sara. The liquid shimmered, pale gold. "Take it," Boris repeated, his gaze boring into her, then flicking meaningfully towards Charly, "and the card is yours. All the zeros. No more buttons. Or..." He let the implication hang, heavy as a stone. "Your husband takes it instead."

Dimitri extended the glass towards Sara, his expression unreadable, expectant. The pill on the table gleamed under the low light. An unknown substance. A gamble. A test.

The muffled thump of the music felt distant, irrelevant. The plush velvet, the cold air, the predatory stares – it all pressed in. Sara looked at the pill, then at the glass in Dimitri’s hand, then finally, her gaze locked onto Charly’s terrified, wide eyes. His secret shame warred with primal fear on his face. The choice wasn't just hers anymore. It was theirs. And the cost of refusal felt terrifyingly undefined. The silence in the booth became a physical weight, thicker and more suffocating than the cigar smoke, waiting to be shattered by her decision.
