Chapter 8: Truth Serum Confessions
Boris hauled Sara upright. Her legs buckled, slick with sweat and other fluids. He dragged her across the teak deck, her bare feet scraping, towards a wide staircase leading below. The cool night air vanished, replaced by the yacht’s climate-controlled chill and the low thrum of engines. Behind them, another guard yanked Charly to his feet, pulling him roughly in the same direction. Charly stumbled, retching again, his face a mask of terror and self-loathing.
They descended into opulence. Plush, dark carpet swallowed any sound of their passage. The corridor was lined with sleek, polished wood and recessed golden lighting. It felt less like a boat and more like a high-end boutique hotel. Sara shivered violently, the air conditioning biting into her naked skin. Boris stopped before a heavy mahogany door, opened it, and shoved Sara inside.
Dimitri’s cabin was vast. A cavern of luxury. One entire wall was curved glass, offering a panoramic view of the glittering, dark harbor and the distant city lights. The other walls were paneled in dark wood. A massive bed dominated the center, draped in black silk. Low, modern furniture – a sofa, armchairs – looked sculptural and uncomfortable. The only light came from strips of soft, pulsating blue LED hidden in the ceiling and floor, reflecting the beat of music filtering faintly from above. The air smelled thickly of expensive sandalwood cologne and something sharper, metallic. Power.
Dimitri stood by a mirrored wet bar, pouring champagne into two crystal flutes. He was still fully dressed in his dark suit, an island of control in the surreal space. He didn't turn as Boris deposited Sara near the center of the room. She swayed, wrapping her arms tightly around herself, her dark hair plastered to her face and neck with sweat and tears. Water droplets from her earlier ordeal traced cold paths down her thighs.
A moment later, Charly was pushed in after her, collapsing to his knees on the thick carpet. He looked broken, hollow-eyed, staring at the floor.
"Leave us, Boris," Dimitri said, his voice smooth as the champagne bubbles. He finally turned, holding the flutes. "But stay close." Boris gave a curt nod and vanished, closing the door with a soft, final click.
Dimitri approached Sara and Charly. He placed one flute on a low table and sipped from the other. His eyes, cold and assessing in the pulsing blue light, swept over Sara’s naked, trembling form. "Much better," he murmured. "The sea air adds a certain… freshness. Doesn't it, Charles?"
Charly flinched but didn't answer. Dimitri’s gaze shifted to him, a predator sizing up wounded prey. "But we need to clear the air, no? After such… vigorous introductions." He set down his glass and walked to a discreet cabinet, unlocking it. He withdrew a small black case.
Sara’s breath hitched. The case clicked open. Inside, nestled in black foam, were two small vials of clear liquid and two slim syringes.
"Truth," Dimitri said simply, holding up a vial. It caught the blue light, gleaming like a cold diamond. "A little concoction to lubricate conversation. Expedite honesty." He filled a syringe with the liquid, the action precise, practiced. "Charles. Hold out your arm."
"No," Charly choked out, scrambling back on his knees. "Please. No more. We’ll… we’ll do whatever you want. Just…"
Dimitri moved with shocking speed. He was on Charly in two strides, his polished shoe stamping down hard on Charly’s thigh, pinning him. "Arm," he commanded, his voice like ice shards. Sara cried out as Dimitri grabbed Charly’s flailing wrist, twisting it viciously, forcing the forearm up. He pressed the needle into the soft flesh of the inner elbow and depressed the plunger.
Charly gasped, a strangled sound. Dimitri released him, stepping back. He turned the syringe towards Sara. "Your turn, little bird."
Sara tried to bolt, instinct taking over. She made it two steps before Dimitri’s hand clamped onto the back of her neck, diamond collar digging in. He spun her, slamming her back against the cold glass wall. The city lights swam below her. He trapped her wrists easily with one hand above her head. The needle pricked her bicep. A cold rush flooded her vein.
"Don’t fight it," Dimitri whispered, his face close to hers. His breath smelled of expensive champagne and something sterile. "It only makes the headache worse. Relax. Let it flow." He stepped back, releasing her. Sara slid down the glass, landing hard on the carpet, her limbs suddenly heavy, her thoughts starting to blur around the edges like wet ink.
A strange warmth spread through her chest. The sharp edges of panic began to soften, replaced by a detached, floating sensation. She felt… loose. Too loose. Like her thoughts were balloons tugging at their strings.
Dimitri retrieved his champagne, sipped, and leaned casually against the edge of the bar. He watched them both, a scientist observing an experiment. "Now," he said, his voice cutting through the thickening haze in Sara’s mind. "Sara. Tell me. That first moment you saw Charly. That spark. What was it really? Was it love? Or just… opportunity?"
The question hit her. The serum burned through her inhibitions. "He was… safe," she heard herself say, the words tumbling out before she could catch them. Her voice sounded distant, thick. "Comfortable. Like… sinking into a warm bath." She blinked, trying to focus on Dimitri’s impassive face. Why was she saying this? But the compulsion was stronger than shame. "My dad… he was chaos. Charly… predictable. Boring, sometimes. Safe." The words felt like betrayal, hanging in the perfumed air. She saw Charly flinch, a low moan escaping him. He was sweating profusely now, trembling.
"Predictable," Dimitri echoed, nodding slowly. He turned his gaze to Charly. "And you, Charles? When you saw this vibrant, unpredictable creature agreeing to marry your safe, predictable self… what did you feel? Relief? Or… something darker?"
Charly was breathing hard, fast. His hands clenched and unclenched on his knees. He tried to clamp his mouth shut, his jaw muscles bulging. But the serum was a floodgate. "I… I felt lucky," he gasped. Then, a tremor ran through him. "And… terrified. That she’d see it. See how… small I was. How she’d need more." The confession ripped out. "That someone… stronger… would take her."
Dimitri’s smile was a thin, predatory curve. "Need more? Take her? Be specific, Charles. What did you imagine?"
Charly’s eyes were wide, fixed on Dimitri, but seeing something else. Sweat dripped from his chin onto the carpet. His voice was a broken whisper. "Him. Men like you. Stronger. Richer. Just… taking her. Owning her. While I…" He choked. "While I watched. Helpless. Knowing it was… what she needed. What I… couldn’t give her." His face crumpled. "Knowing she… wanted it." He buried his face in his hands, shoulders shaking with silent sobs.
The air crackled. Sara stared at her husband, the confession hitting her like a physical blow through the serum haze. That shy, gentle Charly… harboring that? A strange mix of horror and a sickening, unwanted echo of understanding twisted in her gut. Dimitri had unlocked something festering beneath the surface.
Dimitri pushed off the bar and walked slowly towards Sara, who was still slumped against the glass. He crouched in front of her, his eyes boring into hers. "And you, Sara? When you feel those eyes on you? Men like me? What does it stir? Fear? Or… a thrill?"
The truth serum surged. Her defenses were ash. The visceral memory of the deck, the rough hands, the violation – it mixed horrifyingly with the pulsing lights, Dimitri’s intense gaze, Charly’s broken confession. She felt raw, exposed, every nerve screaming. "Both," she whispered, the word torn from her. "Terrified. But… god…" She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to fight the tide. "There’s… a spark. When you look at me like that. Like I’m… prey. And you’re the only thing that matters." Shame burned her cheeks. "It makes me feel… alive. Even when I hate it." She opened her eyes, defiance warring with the drug. "Even when I hate you."
Dimitri’s gaze sharpened. He reached out and traced a cold finger along the line of the diamond collar. "The hate is part of the spark, little bird. Fuel for the fire." He stood, looking down at her trembling form, then over at Charly, still weeping. Dimitri’s expression was chillingly satisfied. "See? Honesty is so much cleaner than lies." He walked back towards the bar, refilled his champagne glass.
He turned, surveying his captives – Sara naked and shivering against the glass, Charly broken on the floor. The blue light pulsed, reflecting in Sara’s wide, glazed eyes and the tears on Charly’s face. Dimitri raised his glass in a mock toast, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous purr.
"Now that we understand each other," he said, the smile fading, leaving only cold calculation, "we can truly begin." He took a slow sip, his eyes never leaving Sara’s. "The question, my pretty little liar, is… how deeply do you want to burn?" The silence stretched, thick with unspeakable possibilities, the only sound Charly’s ragged breathing and the faint, relentless thump of music from the world they’d left behind. Dimitri just waited, the syringe case glinting beside his champagne flute on the polished bar.
Sara pressed harder against the cold glass wall, the city lights a dizzying smear below her. The serum was a warm, insistent fog in her veins, dissolving barriers. She felt raw, flayed open. Her mouth was dry. She wanted to scream denial, to shield Charly from what she knew was coming. Don’t say it. Don’t make it real. She bit down on her lower lip until she tasted copper, trying to anchor herself in the sharp pain. Her eyes flicked to Charly, still curled on the thick carpet, his shoulders hunched as if trying to fold himself out of existence. His earlier confession hung in the air like poison gas.
"Come now," Dimitri coaxed, setting the flute down with a soft clink. He took a step closer, the scent of sandalwood and power enveloping her. "The serum won't be denied forever. It finds the cracks. Pries them wide." He tilted his head, his expression almost bored, yet intensely focused. "Tell us what you saw, Sara, in those moments on the deck. What you felt, truly, when Boris held you down. When the others took their turns. When Charly watched." He paused, letting the horrifying images flood back. "Not just the terror. The other thing. That forbidden flicker."
Sara squeezed her eyes shut. The pulsing lights became red behind her lids. She saw flashes: the rough grip on her hair, the cold metal railing, the groan of the men, the wet slap of skin. The overwhelming violation. And beneath it, like a twisted undercurrent in the chaos, that undeniable, shameful jolt of… something else. A terrifying surrender to the sheer, brutal force of it. Dimitri’s gaze, watching it all, owning it. She shook her head violently, a strangled whimper escaping. "No…"
"Look at me," Dimitri commanded, his voice slicing through her haze. She flinched, eyelids flying open, meeting his cold assessment. "Denial is tedious." He gestured dismissively towards Charly. "He already knows the truth. He admitted he dreamed of it. Wanted it, even." Charly made a low, animal sound of distress, burying his face deeper in his hands.
Sara’s breath hitched in ragged gasps. The serum surged, a relentless tide washing away the last crumbling walls. Her resistance was futile, crumbling like wet sand. She felt the words clawing up her throat, desperate to escape. Saying them would make it concrete. Unforgivable. A point of no return for her and Charly. She saw their cozy apartment, their shared jokes, the quiet comfort – all burning away if she spoke. No. But the pressure was immense, the drug and Dimitri’s relentless presence an unbearable weight.
SARA TRIES TO AVOID SAYING IT OUT LOUD AS SHE KNOWS SAYING IT WILL BE A POINT OF NO RETURN IN THEIR RALTIONSHIP. BUT FINALLY SHE ANSWERS
"It felt…" Her voice was a raw scrape, barely audible over the yacht’s hum and Charly’s muffled sobs. She swallowed hard, tasting bile and the bitter residue of the serum. Her knuckles were white where she gripped her own arms. "It felt… powerful." The word hung heavy, grotesque in the plush silence. Dimitri’s eyebrow lifted infinitesimally. Boris, a silent shadow near the door, shifted his weight. Sara squeezed her eyes shut again, unable to bear Dimitri’s scrutiny or the thought of Charly hearing. "Not me," she choked out. "Them. Him. You." She opened her eyes, defiance and despair warring in her glazed stare as she looked directly at Dimitri. "That feeling… of being completely owned. Of having no choice. Of just… being used. It was awful. Horrible." She took a shuddering breath. "But… god… part of me… a sick, twisted part… felt… alive because of it. Because you wanted it so much. Because it mattered that much to break me." Tears streamed freely now, hot and shameful. "That’s the spark. That fucking horror-show spark." She slumped, the confession draining her, leaving her hollow and tremblingA slow, satisfied smile spread across Dimitri’s face, devoid of warmth. He glanced at Boris. Boris gave a single, curt nod, his expression unreadable in the low light. Dimitri picked up his champagne glass again, swirling the pale gold liquid. "Alive," he murmured, savoring the word. He looked down at Charly, a pitiful heap on the floor. "Hear that, Charles? She burns for it too. Just like you dreamed she would." He turned back to Sara, his gaze predatory. "Excellent." The word was a soft purr, loaded with terrifying promise. He took another slow sip, his eyes never leaving hers.
The champagne flute caught the pulsing blue light as Dimitri lowered it, the ghost of that predatory smile still playing on his lips. Sara’s raw confession hung thick in the perfumed air, mingling with Charly’s muffled sobs from the carpet. Dimitri’s cold gaze swept from Sara’s tear-streaked defiance back to her husband’s crumpled form. "Charles," he commanded, his voice slicing through the low drone of the yacht's systems and the distant thump of music. "Look at her. Look at your wife."
Charly flinched, his shoulders hitching with another suppressed sob, but he didn’t lift his head. His hands remained clamped over his face as if shielding himself from the wreckage of their shared humiliation. Dimitri sighed, a sound of exaggerated patience, and took another step towards him. "Look at her, Charles," he repeated, the steel beneath the velvet unmistakable now. "See what honesty has wrought. See the fire you always knew was banked inside her."
With visible effort, trembling violently, Charly dragged his hands down his face. His eyes, red-rimmed and swollen, flickered towards Sara pressed against the cold glass. Shame radiated from him, a palpable heat. He couldn’t hold her gaze for more than a second, his eyes skittering away to fix on the plush carpet pattern.
"Good," Dimitri purred. He folded his arms, studying Charly with clinical detachment. The blue LEDs traced the sharp line of his jaw. "Now, Charles, we have one final piece of undeniable truth to attend to." He paused, letting the tension coil tighter in the spacious cabin. Sara felt a fresh wave of dread, colder than the glass at her back. What more could he possibly strip from them? Dimitri’s next words dropped like stones into the silence. "Remove your trousers. And your underwear. Now."
Charly froze. His head snapped up, eyes wide with a fresh terror that eclipsed the shame. "W-what? No! Dimitri, please—"
"Now, Charles," Dimitri interrupted, his voice cracking like a whip. The veneer of civility vanished, replaced by the raw authority of a man accustomed to absolute obedience. "Do not make me ask Boris to assist you. You will not enjoy his methods." He didn’t even glance at Boris, a silent monolith near the door, but the threat hung heavy in the air.
Charly's breath came in ragged, panicked gasps. His hands hovered uselessly over his belt buckle, trembling too violently to function. He looked wildly from Dimitri’s implacable stare to Boris’s looming presence, then finally, desperately, to Sara. His expression was pure, unadulterated horror. Sara stared back, her own breath catching. Don’t do it, she screamed silently. Fight him! But Charly’s shoulders slumped further, defeat washing over him. His hands fumbled numbly with the buckle, the metallic click echoing sharply in the stillness.
He couldn't meet her eyes as he clumsily pushed the dark trousers down his hips, letting them pool around his ankles. The expensive cotton boxer shorts followed, revealing pale skin and the undeniable, raging erection straining against the fabric before it, too, was pushed down. He stood there, exposed from the waist down, trembling violently, his hands instinctively moving to cover himself before Dimitri’s sharp "Hands down, Charles. Let her see," stopped him. His hands dropped limply to his sides.
Sara’s stomach lurched. There it was. Proof, undeniable and grotesque, of the dark fantasy Charly had confessed under the serum. While she’d been violated on the deck, while Dimitri orchestrated her degradation, her husband hadn’t just watched in helpless horror. His body had betrayed him, reacting with a visceral, humiliating intensity. The sight was a physical blow, shattering the last fragile illusion of their shared reality. A choked sound, part sob, part gasp of disbelief, escaped her lips. She pressed a hand over her mouth, her wide, glazed eyes locked on the undeniable evidence of his arousal, a stark betrayal illuminated by the yacht's cold, pulsing light.
Dimitri chuckled, a low, dark sound of pure satisfaction. He stepped closer to Charly, ignoring the man’s pathetic flinch, and placed a proprietorial hand on his shoulder. "See, little bird?" he said, turning his chilling gaze back to Sara. His words were soft, almost intimate, yet laced with venomous triumph. "The truth has many faces. And now you’ve seen his." He squeezed Charly’s shoulder, hard enough to make him whimper. "The question remains… what truths will we uncover in you when we play our next game?"
