Chapter 12: Gaand story!
He held there, a statue of flesh and tension buried deep inside my tearing body. The pain was a bright, unchanging star. I couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe around it. Every slight tremor from him sent fresh shockwaves through my core.
“Breathe, Saumya,” he whispered again, his mouth leaving my breast. He hovered above me, watching my face. His own was strained with the effort of holding still. A bead of sweat traced from his temple down to his jaw. “In and out. Just breathe.”
I sucked in a ragged, hiccuping gasp. The air felt thin, useless. My hands still pushed weakly against the solid wall of his chest.
“Good,” he murmured. He dipped his head and caught a tear from my cheek with his lips. The gesture was absurdly tender amidst the violence of the joining. “The worst is over. I’m all the way in. You took it. You took all of me.” His voice held a reverent, possessive awe. He shifted his hips, the tiniest fraction.
A sharp sound escaped me. Not a scream anymore, but a wounded animal’s cry.
“Shhh,” he soothed, one hand coming up to stroke my hair back from my damp forehead. His other hand remained tight on my hip. “The pain will change now. I promise. Let it change.” He began to move. Withdrawing slowly, an agony of friction. The burning stretch intensified. I whimpered, my nails digging into his skin.
Then he pushed back in. The same searing path. But something underneath the raw tear felt different. A deeper, internal pressure. A fullness that brushed against a place that wasn’t pure pain. My breath hitched, confused.
He saw it. The shift in my eyes. A slow smile touched his mouth. “There,” he said, his voice low and encouraging, as if coaching me through a difficult task. “Feel that? That’s you. That’s your body waking up.” He withdrew again, just as slowly. This time, the slide was slicker. The lube, my own wetness, the betraying evidence of my earlier climax. It eased the burn fractionally.
The next thrust was firmer. Deeper. The pain was still a bright, overriding signal, but beneath it now ran a current of something else. A shocking, unwanted spark of sensation where his body met some hidden, internal part of mine. A groan tangled with my sob.
“That’s it,” he urged, his own breathing becoming more ragged. His controlled rhythm began to deepen, to find a pace. The slowness was a torture all its own. Each deliberate stroke dragged the rough silk of the sheets beneath my back, a whisper against my ravaged senses. “Let it happen. Your body knows what to do. It’s forgetting the pain. It’s remembering the pleasure I gave it.” He emphasized the word I.
He was right. My treacherous flesh was softening, adapting, the sharp edges of the initial breach melting into a deep, aching fullness. Each inward stroke began to kindle that earlier spark, fanning it against my will. The pleasure was a ghost, faint and shaming, threading through the persistent ache. My cries softened, morphping into choked gasps. My resisting hands slid from his chest, falling limp to the sheets, then twisting the fabric again as a particularly deep thrust struck that new, sensitive place.
“Oh god,” I breathed, the words torn from me.
“Not god,” he corrected, his voice thick with effort and triumph. He lowered his full weight onto me, capturing my mouth with his. The kiss was consuming, salty with my tears. He tasted of me, of himself, of dominion. His hips drove up into me, harder now, abandoning the gentle pretense. The movement jolted through us both. The pain flared, then receded, drowned under a rising tide of sensation that was neither pure hurt nor pure pleasure, but a devastating amalgam of both.
My legs, which had been held stiff and wide by his insistence, unconsciously loosened. They fell open further, a deeper surrender. My heels brushed the back of his thighs. He groaned into my mouth, the vibration traveling straight to my core. “Yes. Like that. Take me. All of me.”
His hand slid between us, his thumb finding that swollen bud again. He pressed in time with his thrusts. The dual assault was too much. The coiled tension from before, the ghost of my first climax, began to gather again, fueled now by this brutal, penetrating rhythm. I shook my head against the pillow, a denial. “No, I can’t… not again…”
“You will,” he grunted, his pace becoming relentless, punishing. The bedframe gave a muffled protest against the wall. “You’ll come on my cock, Saumya. While I’m inside you. Where I belong.” His thumb circled fiercely. “Let go.”
My body betrayed me utterly. The climax ripped through the pain, through the shame, a seismic wave that blurred all lines. It was darker this time, deeper, tied intrinsically to the invasive fullness of him. My internal muscles clutched at his thrusting length, a rhythmic, involuntary pulsing that drew a raw, shouted curse from him. He drove into me, hard and final, his own release triggering a hot flood deep inside that seemed to seal his claim. The sensation prolonged my own shaking dissolution, stretching the moment into a timeless, hollowed-out space.
We lay frozen, a tangled knot of sweat-slicked limbs and staggered breath. The heat of him, inside and out, was suffocating. The scent of sex was now overwhelming, irrevocable. He collapsed his weight onto me, his face buried in the crook of my neck. His breath was a hot, ragged tide against my skin.
I stared past his shoulder at the garland of marigolds strung over the bedhead. A few crushed petals littered the silk. I felt empty and full, shattered and assembled into some new, broken shape. The pain was a dull, persistent throb, a ground bass to the strange, humming emptiness in my head.
After a long moment, he pushed himself up on his elbows. He looked down at our joined bodies, then at my face. His expression was unreadable, a mix of satiation and intense scrutiny. He brushed a damp strand of hair from my cheek. “Look at us,” he said, his voice casual, almost light, as if commenting on the weather. “Your husband’s wedding gift to me. And mine to you.” He shifted slightly, still embedded within me, and reached for the silver-threaded angavastra that had been draped over a chair. He wiped himself casually, then dabbed roughly between my legs. The white linen came away stained with crimson and other fluids. He held it up, examined it, then tossed it onto the bedside table, a flag of conquest.
“Proof,” he said simply.
Then he softened his tone, leaning down to kiss my temple. “The first time is always awkward. You did well.” He finally withdrew from me. The sensation was a shocking emptiness, a sudden cold rush followed by a fresh, slick ache. He rolled onto his side, propping his head on his hand, studying me as I lay exposed and trembling. “Next time,” he said, his finger tracing the line of my hip, “will be easier. For both of us. We’ll have fun.”
The word fun hung in the air, grotesque and surreal. I closed my eyes, wanting only to disappear into the dark behind my eyelids. I heard him get up, the soft pad of his feet on the marble floor. A clink as he picked up his watch from the dresser. The whisper of fabric as he pulled on his trousers.
“Get some sleep,” he said, his voice now all business, the lover’s tone gone. “You’ll need your energy. I’ll send for you tomorrow afternoon. We’ll have lunch by the pool.”
I didn’t open my eyes. I listened to the soft click of the suite door closing. Then silence, save for the sputter of a dying candlewick. The distant melody of the shehnai had long since ended. Downstairs, my new husband slept. Up here, in the ruins of the bridal suite, I lay in the aftermath, the smell of him and me and lost innocence clinging to my skin, a new and terrible scripture written upon it. Next time. He had said it with absolute certainty. As if my consent, my very self, was now just a matter of scheduling.
