Chapter 8: next chapter!
The silence that followed was worse than any sound. It was filled with the cooling stickiness on my skin and the sour taste in my mouth. I stared at the ornate ceiling, my breath slowly returning to something normal, but my mind was a shattered window.
Vishal finally moved, rolling off me with a soft grunt. The bed shifted. He sat on the edge, his back to me, a powerful silhouette against the dim lights. He reached for a water glass from the nightstand, took a long sip, then offered it to me without looking. "Here." His voice was flat, spent.
I didn't take it. I just lay there, exposed and ruined. The scent of jasmine from the wedding garlands was now cloying, mixed with sweat and sex and him. My body felt alien, a traitorous landscape of aches and fading tremors. "Look at me," he said, still not turning.
I turned my head. He was looking over his shoulder, his expression unreadable. He nodded toward my chest. "See that?" His gaze was on the mess he’d made, the bites, the marks, the proof. "That's real. What you just felt was real. Your shy husband will give you a polite duty. A quick fumble in the dark." He turned fully now, his eyes capturing mine. They were no longer passionate, but analytical, assessing. "He'll never make you scream into a pillow so the guests downstairs don't hear. He'll never make you come from just your tits. He'll never own you."
Each word was a cold, precise knife. They didn't feel like a boast. They felt like a simple statement of fact. My throat tightened. A fresh tear escaped, tracing a path through the sweat on my temple.
"Don't," he said, his voice low. He reached out and wiped the tear away with his thumb, his touch surprisingly devoid of tenderness. It was a correction. "Crying is for regrets. Do you regret it?"
My lips parted. Yes. The answer should have been immediate, a scream. It stuck in my throat, choked by the memory of my own convulsing pleasure, the way my hips had risen to meet his, the hungry sounds I’d made. I looked away, ashamed of my hesitation.
He smiled, a thin, knowing curve of his lips. "See." He stood, his naked body moving with easy power. He walked to where my red lehenga lay in a glittering heap on the floor. He picked it up, the fabric whispering. "Get up. Clean yourself. He'll be here soon."
The mention of Vikram was a bucket of ice water. I jerked upright, the soreness between my legs flaring. The room spun for a second. "The bathroom," I stammered. "I need to—"
"Go." He tossed the lehenga onto the bed beside me. "Be quick. And Saumya?" I paused, clutching the sheet to my chest. "Wash your face. Not your body. Not yet. I want you to feel me on your skin when he touches you. I want you to remember what's inside you while he kisses your cheek."
The cruelty was so deliberate it stole my breath. It wasn't just about possession. It was about layering the violation, making it permanent. I stumbled to the ensuite bathroom, my legs unsteady. I locked the door and braced myself against the cool marble sink, staring at the stranger in the mirror. My hair was a wild storm. My kajal was smudged into dark shadows. My lips were swollen. And on my neck, my breasts, the angry red marks stood out like brands.
I ran the water, cold, and splashed my face. It did nothing to clear the fog. I used a towel to wipe the mess from my chin and chest, my movements frantic. But as he’d ordered, I left the rest. My skin felt hypersensitive, every bite a pulsing reminder. Between my thighs, a deep, used ache throbbed in time with my heartbeat. I could still feel the ghost of him, the stretching fullness, the shocking heat of his finish inside me.
A soft knock on the door made me jump. "Two minutes," Vishal's voice came through, calm and conversational. "The party is winding down. He's looking for his bride."
Panic, sharp and metallic, flooded my mouth. I scrambled into my lehenga, my fingers fumbling with the hooks and ties. The heavy fabric felt like a costume now, a grotesque parody of bridal purity. I couldn’t get the choli tied properly; my hands were shaking too badly. I opened the door.
He was dressed, impeccable again in his dark suit, looking like a guest who had merely stepped away for a cigar. He saw my struggle. "Turn around." His command brooked no argument. I turned, holding the fabric to my chest. His fingers, so skilled at causing pain and pleasure, were swift and efficient with the ties. He pulled them snug, his knuckles brushing the fresh marks on my back. "There." He turned me back to face him, his hands on my shoulders. He studied me, then reached out, deliberately mussing my hair a little more. "Perfect. You look thoroughly fucked."
He leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper that brushed my ear. "When he asks if you're okay, you will say you are tired. You will say you had too much champagne and felt dizzy. You will turn away from him in bed. And you will think of my cock every time you close your eyes." He pulled back, his gaze holding mine, ensuring the instructions were seared in. "This isn't over. This is just the beginning of your real education."
From downstairs, the faint, joyful rhythm of the dhol finally ceased. The reception was over. A different kind of tension, cold and sheer, snapped into the room. Vishal’s expression shifted, the intensity vanishing behind a mask of polite concern. He gave me a last, appraising look, nodded, and walked silently to the suite’s main door. He opened it a crack, listened, and then slipped out without a sound.
I was alone. The silence was absolute. Then, a new sound: a hesitant, shuffling step in the hallway outside. A clumsy, familiar cough. Vikram’s voice, soft and unsure, called out, "Saumya? Are you... is it okay to come in?"
My eyes darted to the bed. The sheets were a tangled disaster, stained with the dark, damning evidence of my lost virginity. There was no time. No time to think, to feel, to scream. The door handle began to turn. I took a ragged breath, forced my lips into what I hoped was a shy smile, and faced the man I had married.
