Chapter 1: Freedom and The Abundance Mindset
The soft hum of her laptop was the only soundtrack to Jen Violet's day as she sat in her home office, a room filled with as much personality as the woman herself. The walls were adorned with snippets of her life—photos from her travels, dried flowers she had picked up along the way, and posters of her favorite bands.
Her desk was a sprawling mess of papers, books, and a half-empty cup of tea. She was hunched over her keyboard, her fingers dancing across the keys with a rhythm that spoke of hours spent mastering the craft. The screen in front of her was a testament to her success—analytics graphs showed a steady upward curve, and her AdSense revenue was climbing like a mountain goat on steroids. She smirked, leaning back in her chair with a satisfied sigh.
"You're looking awfully pleased with yourself," a voice said from the doorway. Jen turned to see her best friend, Meg, leaning against the doorframe, a smirk on her face that matched hers.
Meg was a striking contrast to Jen, her black hair streaked with red, and her style a mix of gothic and anime influences. She was wearing a band t-shirt and ripped jeans, her arms adorned with colorful tattoos that matched the vibrant art she created.
"Well, someone's in a good mood," Jen said, raising an eyebrow. "What's the occasion? Did you finally finish that painting that's been haunting your dreams?"
Meg laughed, pushing off the doorframe and sauntering into the room. "Haunted by my own art? Now that's a scary thought.
No, I just got a call from that gallery downtown. They want to feature some of my pieces in their upcoming showcase." Meg beamed, her eyes lighting up with excitement as she plopped down into the chair opposite Jen's desk. "Can you believe it? Me, in an actual gallery!"
Jen couldn't help but smile at her friend's enthusiasm. "Of course, I can. Your art is incredible, Meg. About time someone else recognized that."
Meg rolled her eyes, but her grin didn't fade. "Well, I'm excited. And I was thinking, maybe we could use this opportunity to throw a little party.
You know, celebrate your financial success and my artistic breakthrough. A dual-victory bash!" Meg's voice was eager, her hands already gesticulating as she mapped out her grand plans.
Jen's eyebrows shot up, "A party, huh? I like the sound of that."
Meg's eyes sparkled with amusement as she leaned forward, her elbows resting on her desk. "But you know we can't have a party without our resident Dungeon Master, right?"
"You mean ME." Jen WAS the Dungeon Master.
It's an honor, really," Jen quipped, a playful smirk playing at the corners of her mouth. "And I think you're right. We should invite the gang over. It's been a while since we've all gotten together for a game night."
"Exactly!" Meg exclaimed, clapping her hands together. "We can make it a game night to end all game nights. Hell, we can even throw in a little live-action role-play if that's what it takes to get everyone to show up."
Jen chuckled, shaking her head at Meg's enthusiasm. "Alright, alright.
I'll make the call," Jen conceded, leaning back in her chair and picking up her phone. She tapped out a quick text to their gaming group chat: 'Game night this Saturday. Meg's throwing a party. Be there or be square.'
Within seconds, a flurry of notifications buzzed in, the group's excited responses filling the screen. Jen smirked, glancing up at Meg. "Looks like we're on for Saturday."
Meg whooped, pumping her fist in the air. "Yes! Chrissy will take care of the decorations and snacks. I'm bringing the energy drinks." One of the messages read, and Jen couldn't help but chuckle.
"Who texted that?" Meg asked, reaching for Jen's phone.
Jen handed it over, a smirk still playing on her lips.
"That would be our resident D&D princess, Alex," Jen replied. "I swear, that man could live off energy drinks and magic spells alone."
Meg scrolled through the messages, a grin spreading across her face. "And he's bringing that new game he's been raving about. I've been dying to give it a try."
Jen laughed, "You mean the one with the dragons and the magical bunnies? I think he's been exaggerating the 'bunnies' part to get us hooked."
Meg chuckled, handing the phone back to Jen.
