Chapter 7: The Nightclub Seduction
The neon sign above the entrance buzzed like an angry wasp, casting a sickly violet glow over the damp pavement. Lustre. The bass hit Lila before she even crossed the threshold, a physical thump against her sternum that vibrated up into her jaw. Trina, a shimmering pillar of silver sequins and predatory energy, gripped Lila's elbow, steering her past the velvet rope with a dismissive flick of her manicured fingers at the bouncer. "Keep up, Sparkles," she hissed, her voice cutting through the sonic sludge. "Eyes sharp, shoulders back. Chest out." Lila flinched, automatically adjusting the flimsy straps of the dress Trina had chosen – electric blue, impossibly tight, glitter catching the strobe lights like shattered glass. It felt less like clothing, more like a second skin she desperately wanted to shed.
Inside was sensory overload. Strobing lights fractured the darkness, illuminating sweaty faces and writhing bodies in jarring snapshots. The air hung thick, a cloying cocktail of expensive perfume, spilled liquor, and the tang of human exertion. The music wasn't just heard; it was a physical force, a relentless pounding that made thinking impossible. Stand up straight. Suck it in. Smile, you look cheap. The voice slithered through the noise, insistent. Lila tried to focus on the shifting patterns on the floor, anything to anchor herself, but the overwhelming chaos pressed in. Her hand fluttered nervously to her hair, patting the stiff, over-teased strands Trina had sculpted into a high, precarious ponytail. Perfect, the voice cooed. Now sparkle.
"Babe! Over here!" Trina yelled, dragging Lila towards a roped-off area where plush white soaks cradled preening figures. "My newest protégé, Lila! You know, SlayLila?" Trina announced to a cluster of sharp-eyed people nursing crystal flutes. "Going supernova, this one. Watch her trajectory." Trina shoved a chilled glass of something pink and fizzy into Lila's hand. "Drink. Loosen up. You're wound tighter than a cheap watch." Do it. Look relaxed. Fun. They’re watching.
Lila took a nervous sip. It tasted like cough syrup and chemicals. She tried to mimic Trina’s casual lean against the banquette, but felt rigid, exposed. The dress dug into her ribs. Posture! Think of the camera angles!
"SlayLila? The science chick?" A man detached himself from the group, tall, broad-shouldered in an aggressively tight black shirt. His smile was wide, practiced, but didn't reach his eyes. They scanned her, lingering. "Heard about your...transformation." His voice was smooth, too loud over the music. "Impressive pivot. From brains to..." He waved a hand vaguely at her outfit. "...all this. Name's Dex."
He slid onto the banquette beside her, too close. The scent of his cologne – something woody and overpowering – mixed nauseatingly with the club smells. "Love the energy shift. Real bold." He clinked his glass against hers. "Thirsty?" Before she could answer, he signalled a passing waitress. "Another round of the sparkly pink shit for the ladies! And a double bourbon for me." His gaze never left Lila's face. See? He sees you. He wants you. This is winning.
"Uh, thanks," Lila mumbled, shrinking back slightly. The voice hissed: Lean in. Touch his arm. Giggle. She forced a stiff smile. Dex’s hand landed heavily on her bare knee. She froze.
"Trina says you're blowing up," Dex continued, his thumb tracing a small circle on her skin. The touch felt like a brand. "Smart girls going wild? Always a hit. Shows depth, you know? Hidden layers." His laugh was a short bark. "Bet you've got lots of hidden layers under that dress."
Lila’s stomach churned. She looked desperately for Trina, who was across the VIP section, phone held high, filming the scene with a predatory grin, miming encouragement. Give him content! Be engaging!
"Science was... fine," Lila managed, the voice screaming at her to agree, to be agreeable. "This is... more dynamic?" Her voice sounded thin, lost in the bass.
"Dynamic. Yeah." Dex leaned closer, his breath hot and smelling of bourbon. "You look incredible tonight. Seriously. That blue? Fucking electric." His hand slid higher on her thigh, fingers pressing in. "Trina knows how to package a girl." He’s complimenting you! See? Validation!
Another sickly-sweet pink drink appeared. Dex pushed it towards her. "C'mon, catch up. Celebration, right? Your big glow-up!" His fingers tightened. Drink. Be fun. Don’t be a buzzkill.
Panic fluttered in Lila's chest. "I'm okay, really. This one's—"
"Don't be shy," Dex interrupted, his smile hardening. "We're having fun. Trina wants you to network, right?" He nodded towards the influencer, who gave an exaggerated thumbs-up. "Drink.Relax. Enjoy the attention you worked so hard for." He lifted his own glass, watching her expectantly, his other hand still anchoring her thigh.
They’ll think you’re rude. Prudish. After you showed them... everything. Prove you’re not boring. Prove you can play. The voice was a relentless drill. Lila lifted the glass with trembling fingers. The sweet liquid burned going down. Dex’s grin widened. "Atta girl. See? Knew you weren’t just brains."
The next hour blurred into a suffocating montage. Dex’s hand never left her. It migrated from knee to waist, fingers dipping dangerously low on her back when she tried to shift away. His compliments grew cruder, focused solely on her body – the dress clinging, the "effort" she must have put in. He kept refilling her glass, the sickly pink blurring the harsh edges of the lights, the pounding bass a physical weight. Trina flitted nearby, a glittering spectre, occasionally shouting encouragement or snapping photos, her eyes sharp with calculation. Look at her! This is growth! This is viral potential!
Lila felt detached, floating outside herself. She was dimly aware of nodding, of forcing brittle laughs when Dex made another lewd joke, of his breath hot on her neck. She kept touching her hair, adjusting her posture, tiny movements fueled by the voice’s incessant directives. Fix the strap. Arch your back. Smile wider. He’s filming! But inside, a silent scream was building, trapped behind the sticky sweetness of the drinks and the hypno-mist’s suffocating whisper.
"You're tense," Dex murmured, his lips brushing her ear. She flinched violently. "Still wound up after all that? Need to really...unwind?" His hand slid around her waist, pulling her firmly against his side. The pressure was immense."C'mon. Let's find somewhere quieter. Talk." His eyes weren't asking. They were demanding. Go. He wants you. This is the ultimate validation. This is power.
"I... I should find Trina," Lila stammered, trying to pull away. His grip tightened like a vise.
"She's busy," Dex said flatly, nodding towards Trina who was now passionately kissing a woman in a feathered headdress for her camera. "She wants you to make connections. I'm a big connection, Sparkles." He stood, pulling her up with him. Her legs felt like jelly. The room tilted. "Bathroom.Now." It wasn't a suggestion.
Don’t make a scene. Don’t be difficult. He’s important. He likes you. This is what you wanted. Attention. Validation. The voice was a siren song, weaving through the alcohol haze. Resistance felt futile, a distant concept drowned in pink fizz and pounding bass. She let him steer her through the pulsing crowd, a glittering blue puppet.
The hallway to the bathrooms was marginally quieter, but the bass still thrummed through the floor. Dim, flickering bulbs cast long, distorted shadows. Dex pushed open a heavy, graffitied door marked with a broken symbol, shoving her into the cramped, reeking space of a single stall. The door slammed shut behind them, the lock clicking with terrifying finality. The sudden, claustrophobic silence was worse than the noise.
"Finally," Dex breathed, crowding her against the cold tile wall. His hands were everywhere at once – rough on her arms, sliding down her back, gripping her hips. His mouth was hot and greedy on her neck. "Knew you wanted this. Playing hard to get. That science bitch act." His words slurred slightly. He’s obsessed. You did this. You’re irresistible.
Lila stiffened, the cold tile shocking through the thin dress. "Dex, wait—"
"Shut up," he growled, his hand clamping over her mouth. The other yanked at the flimsy fabric of her dress, the sound of tearing threads loud in the small space. Panic, pure and cold, sliced through the fog. She tried to turn her head, to push against him, but he was heavy, solid, pinning her. His breath was rancid. This is happening. Let it. This is the price. This is the attention you craved. Feel desired.
He fumbled with his belt, the metallic clink grotesquely loud. Tears welled, hot and stinging, blurring the grimy tile. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to vanish. Think about the likes. The comments. The shares. They’ll see how wanted you are. The voice was a cruel parody of Trina’s coaching. His body pressed against hers, hard and unyielding. He forced her legs apart with his knee. This is your value now. The first brutal thrust drove the air from her lungs. A strangled gasp escaped around his hand.
Lila dissociated. She focused on the cracked ceiling tile above his shoulder, the flicker of the faulty bulb, the peeling sticker of a band logo on the stall door. She focused on keeping her back arched, her head tilted at what she hoped was a flattering angle, even as her body was jolted against the wall. Posture. Presentation. Think of the camera. Think of the views. The voice was a relentless drumbeat beneath the grunts, the rhythmic slam of flesh against tile, the sickening wet sounds. Every thrust felt like a violation, yet the hypno-mist twisted it, whispering a perverse mantra: Validation. Worth. Seen. Wanted. She bit down hard on the inside of her cheek, the metallic taste of blood mixing with the salt of tears. Silent. Perfectly still except for the involuntary tremors shaking her frame. A doll. A prop. Slammed against the tiles for content she never asked for but couldn't escape.
It ended as abruptly as it started. Dex shuddered, a low groan escaping him, his weight collapsing onto her for a moment before he shoved himself away, breathing hard. He zipped his pants without looking at her, running a hand through his slicked-back hair. "Good girl," he muttered, his voice thick. He unlocked the stall door and shoved it open, disappearing into the throbbing hallway without a backward glance.
Lila slid down the wall, the torn dress bunching around her hips. Her legs wouldn't hold her. The cold tile bit into her bare thighs. The smell of bleach and bodily fluids was overwhelming. She wrapped her arms around herself, shaking violently. The voice was silent now, a sudden, echoing void. The only sounds were the muffled bass and the frantic, shallow gasps tearing from her own throat. She stared at the dirty floor, the glitter on her arms catching the flickering light. Look at you. Used. Perfect. The thought wasn't the voice. It was her own, cold and clear and utterly broken.
The stall door creaked open again. Not Dex. Trina stood there, silhouetted against the hallway light, phone still in hand. She didn't enter. Her eyes raked over Lila's disheveled state – the torn dress, the smeared makeup, the tear tracks cutting through the glitter on her cheeks. A slow, satisfied smile spread across Trina's face. It held no sympathy, only triumph. She lifted her phone slightly, the lens pointed directly at Lila huddled on the floor. "Now that," Trina purred, her voice cutting through the din like a razor, "is fucking content." The flash momentarily blinded Lila, freezing her humiliation in digital amber.
The flash burned. Lila flinched, blinking away white spots, the afterimage of Trina’s triumphant smile seared onto her retinas. The cold tile leached heat through the thin, torn fabric bunched at her hips. Her own breathing sounded harsh, ragged, loud in the sudden vacuum after Dex’s departure. Trina lowered her phone, screen glowing. She tapped it once, twice, her gaze fixed on the result. "Crisp," she announced, her voice devoid of warmth. "That tear in the dress? Perfectly tragic. The glitter smears? Chef's kiss." She finally looked down at Lila, huddled like discarded packaging. "You look properly ravaged, Sparkles. Authentic."
Lila tried to speak, but only a dry croak emerged. Her throat felt scraped raw. She hugged her knees tighter, the chill intensifying. Trina took a deliberate step into the stall, her silver stiletto inches from Lila's bare foot on the grimy floor. She crouched, a predator examining its prey. The sickly sweet perfume barely masked the lingering smell of sex and bleach. "Relax," Trina murmured, not unkindly, but with the detachment of a director reviewing footage. "It's done. You did good. Painfully awkward at first, sure, but the finale?" She gave a low whistle. "Raw."
"It... it wasn't..." Lila stammered, her voice trembling. He forced me. The words wouldn't come. I didn't want it. The hypno-mist swirled, thick and cloying in her mind. Stop whining. You went in. He wanted you. Trina saw it. They all saw it. Her hand fluttered uselessly to adjust her hair, finding only tangled strands and stiff hairspray. Fix it. Look presentable.
"Wasn't what? Fun?" Trina snorted, standing abruptly. "Who said anything about fun? This is work, babes. Hardcore engagement farming." She scrolled through her phone again, a flicker of genuine excitement crossing her face. "And the real gold? Ding, ding, ding!" She turned the screen towards Lila. It showed a grainy, dimly lit photo: Dex's broad back filling most of the frame, his hand possessively gripping Lila's upper arm as he steered her towards this very bathroom door. Lila's expression was blurred, but her glittering blue dress and stiff, coerced posture were unmistakable. "Caught the whole walk of shame," Trina purred. "Perfect setup."
Lila stared, frozen. The image was damning. Suggestive. A narrative already written. "Delete it," she whispered, the plea weak even to her own ears. They’ll see. They’ll see you didn’t fight. The voice countered, sharp and insistent. They’ll see you getting taken by a VIP. They’ll see your value.
Trina laughed, a sharp, brittle sound echoing off the tiles. "Delete it? Babe, this is pure viral gasoline." She pocketed the phone. "Think about it. 'SciLila's Secret Lavatory Liaison'? 'From Lab Coat to Love Nest'? The speculation will be nuclear." She leaned against the stall doorframe, surveying Lila's crumpled form with clinical detachment. "My people know some... choice message boards. Places where this kind of 'evidence' gets devoured. Starts fires." Her smile widened. "Controlled burns, of course. Just enough heat to make you impossible to ignore. Get you trending properly."
The reality slammed into Lila harder than Dex had. Not just the assault, but this. Weaponized. Broadcast. Her humiliation repackaged as content. Validation, the mist whispered, thick as tar. Everyone will know you’re desired. Powerful. Nausea rose, fierce and acidic. "Please, Trina," she choked out, tears welling again, cutting fresh paths through the ruined makeup. "Don't. I can't..." Don’t beg. Be grateful. This is the price of fame. The cost of being seen. Her body shook uncontrollably.
"The can't-ship has sailed, Sparkles," Trina stated, her voice losing its false warmth, turning businesslike. "You boarded it the second you let him lead you back here looking like cheap, available bait. You made the choice." She straightened her sequined top, unfazed by Lila's tears. "Now, we monetize it. Simple." Her eyes swept over Lila once more. "Get yourself together. Wipe your face. Fix that mess you call hair. Can't have you looking too pathetic walking out. Needs to be aspirational degradation, not just sad."
Trina turned and pushed open the stall door. The thudding bass rushed back in, a physical assault. She paused in the doorway, not looking back. "I'll be outside. Five minutes. Then we leave. We've got tonight's post to storyboard." The door swung shut behind her, the lock clicking open, leaving Lila alone with the buzzing fluorescents, the reek of the stall, and the crushing certainty of exposure. Her fingers, trembling violently, touched the cold screen of her own phone, silent in the tiny sequined purse still miraculously looped over her wrist. It was buzzing. Constantly. Notifications piling up. They’re already talking, the voice hissed, a slither of perverse excitement cutting through the horror. Look. Lila didn't move. She curled tighter, pressing her glitter-streaked forehead against her knees, the torn fabric scraping her skin. The buzzing felt like insects crawling under her dress.
