"Seriously, how am I supposed to gain experience... with that, if every college cheerleader believes I should already have experience from High School?" Derrick Banner asked his neighbor and longtime best friend Bonnie Hunter. Bonnie's smile curled around her cheekbones which caused Derrick to shiver. "It just so happens that I can help with this, Big-D. I happen to know a woman that has the same issue and pleaded for my help as well. I can hook you up. But blindfolds would be involved..."

Chapter 2: The Setup

The air in Bonnie’s bedroom felt thick, scented faintly with vanilla and something sharper, like ozone after a storm. Dust motes danced in the single lamp’s amber glow, catching on the posters of scowling rock gods and the ornate mirror above her bed. Derrick hovered just inside the doorway, the worn wood floor cool under his socks. His gaze locked onto Bonnie, standing near the bed.

She held the black silk blindfolds loosely in one hand, the sleek, padded headphones dangling from the other. Her usual playful confidence was fractured. Her shoulders were tense, pulled slightly inward. Her teeth were sunk deep into her lower lip, worrying it until the flesh blanched white. The tremor in her hands was unmistakable.

"Hey," Derrick managed, his voice cracking slightly. He cleared his throat. "You, uh... you okay? You look like you're about to defuse a bomb."

Bonnie startled, her green eyes snapping up to meet his. A flicker of her usual mischief sparked, then faded. "Just... logistics," she said, forcing a lightness that didn't reach her eyes. She gestured vaguely with the headphones. "Making sure everything's ready. Soundproofing. Sensory deprivation. The whole... experience." She swallowed hard. "Jane’s downstairs. Grabbing water."

"Jane," Derrick echoed, the name feeling strange on his tongue. The woman Bonnie had mentioned in the dusty attic, the one supposedly sharing his predicament. Tall, dark-haired, intense. An artist. He pictured someone formidable, intimidating. Someone who wouldn’t appreciate clumsy fumbling. His palms started to sweat. "Right. Jane."

Bonnie watched him, her expression unreadable. "Nervous?"

"Is a bear Catholic?" Derrick ran a hand through his perpetually surprised curls. "Bon, this is... insane. What if I'm terrible? What if I freeze up? What if she laughs?" The anxieties spilled out, fueled by years of imagined rejections by cheerleaders who smelled inexperience like blood in the water. "This whole 'needing experience to get experience' loop is hell."

A genuine, if shaky, smile touched Bonnie’s lips. "Derrick Banner, you are many things. Terrible isn't one of them." She stepped closer, the scent of her shampoo – strawberries and sunshine – cutting through the vanilla. "Remember Mrs. Henderson’s cat stuck in the storm drain? You were cool as a cucumber figuring out that pulley system." She tapped his chest lightly. "Same principle. Just... different tools."

He snorted, a flicker of his usual wit surfacing. "Yeah, well, Mrs. Henderson’s cat didn’t require me to be blindfolded and potentially humiliate myself."

Before he could spiral further, footsteps sounded on the stairs – deliberate, unhurried. Bonnie’s posture stiffened again. "Okay," she breathed, her voice low and urgent. "Deep breath. Remember the plan. Blindfold first. Then headphones. Sensory focus. Touch. Sound of breathing. Nothing else exists. Just... sensation." She shoved the silk into his hand. It felt cool and impossibly smooth. "Put it on. Now."

Derrick fumbled with the blindfold, his fingers suddenly thick and clumsy. The world narrowed to the feel of the silk against his eyelids, the darkness pressing in as he tied it securely behind his head. It was absolute. Disorienting. He heard Bonnie move, felt the slight displacement of air as she lifted the headphones. The padded cups settled over his ears with a soft thump, sealing him in a cocoon of near-silence. His own breathing, suddenly loud and ragged, filled the void. His heartbeat thudded against his ribs, a frantic drum solo.

Panic clawed at his throat. This was a mistake. A colossal, Bonnie-sized mistake. He was adrift in darkness and muffled sound, utterly vulnerable. He flinched as cool fingertips brushed his wrist. Bonnie. He recognized her touch instantly, the slight callus on her thumb from rock climbing. Her grip was firm, grounding. She guided his hand forward through the nothingness.

His fingertips brushed something soft. Fabric. Warmth radiated from beneath it. Skin. A thigh? He froze, his breath catching.

Move, he commanded himself. Just… touch.

He let his hand slide slowly, hesitantly, over the curve of a hip. The fabric was thin cotton. Sleep shorts? Beneath it, the flesh was firm, yielding. He traced the dip of a waist, the subtle ridge of ribs beneath soft skin. His touch was feather-light, exploratory, fueled by terror and a desperate need not to offend. He felt the person shift slightly, a minute adjustment. A quiet intake of breath, barely audible through the headphones.

Encouraged, Derrick let his other hand rise. He found a shoulder, the angle sharp beneath his palm. Traced the line of a collarbone. His thumbs brushed the hollow at the base of a throat, felt the pulse fluttering there – rapid, like a trapped bird. Her pulse. Jane’s. Or… Bonnie’s? The thought was disorienting. He pushed it away. Focus. Sensation.

His hands drifted upwards, skimming the column of a neck. Fingertips brushed against hair. Long hair. Silky. He paused, confused. Bonnie’s hair was fiery red, short, pixie-cut. Jane was described as dark-haired. Long dark hair. This felt… long. And soft. Very soft.

He traced the line of a jaw, surprisingly delicate. His thumb grazed the corner of a mouth. Lips. Soft, slightly parted. Warm breath ghosted over his knuckle. The intimacy of it, blind and deafened, was overwhelming. Intense. His own breathing hitched.

Slowly, tentatively, driven by instinct and the absolute anonymity the darkness provided, Derrick leaned forward. He navigated purely by touch, guided by the warmth radiating from the person before him. His lips found hers.

It wasn’t a practiced kiss. It was hesitant, searching. A question asked in the dark. Her lips were soft, yielding slightly under his. He felt the faintest tremor run through her. Or was it him? He deepened the kiss cautiously, his hands sliding up to cradle her face. Her skin was impossibly smooth beneath his fingertips. He traced the curve of her cheekbone, the delicate arch of an eyebrow. The familiarity of the bone structure beneath his touch sent a jolt of confusion through him, quickly drowned by the sheer sensory overload.

The kiss deepened further. Her mouth opened under his, tentative at first, then more insistent. Her hands, which had been resting passively at her sides, rose. One slid up his arm, over his shoulder, fingers tangling briefly in the curls at his nape. The other settled lightly on his waist, pulling him fractionally closer. The contact sent sparks through him.

The kiss dissolved into shared breath, warm and hesitant. Jane’s fingers tightened slightly in his hair, a silent encouragement that sent another jolt down his spine. Derrick’s hands, still framing her face, trembled with the intensity of the unknown, the darkness amplifying every sensation tenfold.

He traced the shell of her ear with a feather-light touch, finding the small, surprising divot of a mole just behind the lobe – a detail Bonnie didn’t have. It anchored him, a tiny landmark in the sensory void confirming this wasn't her. His hands slid downwards slowly, skimming the column of her neck again, feeling the rapid flutter beneath her skin.

"OKAY, YOU OBVIOUSLY BEEN TO FIRST BASE BEFORE, BIG-D." Bonnie’s voice crackled directly into his ear canal through the headphones. It wasn't just sound; it felt intimate, invasive, like a thought whispered directly into his brain – ASMR fused with telepathy. The suddenness ripped him from the tactile world. "THIS... ISN'T YOU?" Derrick breathed the words against Jane’s mouth, the question escaping before he could cage it. Part of him, the reckless, yearning part he kept buried, had desperately hoped the familiar curve of her jaw belonged to Bonnie.

A beat of silence stretched in his head, filled only by Jane’s soft sigh against his lips and the frantic drumming of his own heart against his ribs. Then Bonnie’s voice returned, a fraction higher, carrying a defensive edge. "WELL, I MAY HAVE GOTTEN A GOOD LIP-LOCK IN BEFORE I TOOK TO THE MIC, FOR OLD TIMES' SAKE, BUT NO, I WASN'T LYING, THIS IS 'JANE.'" She admitted. Derrick didn’t like the way she stressed the woman’s name. Was it not Jane? Did she look nothing like described? Did it even matter right now? All those questions swirled, chaotic and dizzying, under the persistent, confusing heat of his continued kissing, Jane responding with increasing confidence now, her tongue darting tentatively against his.

"OKAY, I SEE A POTENTIAL PROBLEM. YOU'RE INEFFICIENT." Bonnie’s tone shifted abruptly to brisk instructor. "YOU FOUND HER LIPS, YOU HANDS CAN DROP TO... OTHER PLACES." Derrick froze mid-kiss, his hands halting their tentative exploration of Jane’s shoulders. Bonnie’s voice cut through the haze, clinical and jarring. "OFF-HAND, GRAB SOME BOOB. MAIN-HAND, REACH BEHIND AND UNHOOK THAT BRA. LET HER SWEATER COWS OUT."

The crude instruction, delivered in Bonnie’s unmistakably flippant tone, landed like ice water. "Sweater cows." Derrick’s hands hovered uselessly in the dark, inches from Jane’s body. He felt Jane’s questioning stillness, the slight withdrawal of her lips, as if sensing his sudden paralysis. The intimate bubble shattered, replaced by the stark, awkward reality orchestrated from the sidelines. His cheeks burned beneath the silk blindfold. Grab? Unhook? Efficiency? This wasn't exploration; it felt like clumsy demolition under orders. Jane’s soft sweater suddenly felt like an uncrossable minefield.

Derrick’s hands froze mid-air, fingertips tingling inches from Jane’s sweater. Bonnie’s crude command echoed in his skull: Grab some boob. The silk blindfold felt suddenly suffocating, the headphones a prison sealing him off from everything but her voice and the frantic thump of his own heart. Jane remained perfectly still, her breath warm and shallow against his lips, waiting – a silent question hanging in the pitch-black void.

He couldn’t. Not like this. Not on command, like flipping a switch. Years of secret longing for Bonnie twisted into something cold and awkward under the harsh spotlight of instruction. Efficiency? This wasn’t assembling IKEA furniture. This was Jane, a real person radiating nervous warmth inches away. Her stillness felt brittle, expectant, amplifying his own clumsy panic.

DO IT. Bonnie hissed directly into his inner ear, the ASMR crackle sharpening her urgency. SHE’S WAITING. TRUST ME.

The familiar push in her tone cut through the fog of his hesitation. That was Bonnie – always nudging him off cliffs, always believing he wouldn’t splat. Old reflexes kicked in, ingrained from countless dares and dumb ideas. His left hand, trembling slightly, moved of its own accord. It bumped clumsily against soft yarn, then found the gentle swell beneath Jane’s sweater. He pressed his palm flat, fingers splaying awkwardly. The fabric was thin; he felt the firm curve of her breast, the pebble-hard nipple pressing back against his touch through the wool. Jane gasped, a tiny, sharp inhale he felt more than heard through the headphones.

His right hand dove behind her back, fingers scrambling over the smooth cotton. He searched frantically for the bra clasp, knuckles brushing the knobs of her spine. Where was it? Hook-and-eye? Front clasp? Panic flared anew. Bonnie always wore those tricky front clasps, little traps disguised as decoration. His fingers fumbled lower, skimming the waistband of her shorts, then back up, grazing the side-seam of her bra band near her armpit.

LEFT SIDE, DUMBASS, Bonnie snapped, her voice tight with impatience. YOUR OTHER LEFT. HIGHER.

He obeyed his ASMR master. His searching fingers jerked upwards, scraping over ribs, finally snagging on cool metal and taut elastic. There. The clasp. Three little hooks nestled in their eyes. Familiar. Too familiar. He knew the exact resistance, the precise angle Bonnie’s favorite lace bra required. His thumb found the release lever – a small, stiff tab he’d accidentally discovered years ago helping her with a stubborn Halloween costume strap. Jane shifted, her body tensing as his fingers closed around the clasp mechanism. A choked sound escaped her lips.

Derrick’s thumb pressed the lever. The clasp gave way with a soft snick he felt through his fingertips. The bra band instantly slackened against Jane’s back.

The bra band instantly slackened against Jane’s back. Derrick’s fingers lingered on the cool metal hooks, the echo of that familiar snick resonating in his bones. Jane remained motionless, her breath shallow and audible even through the headphones’ muffling embrace. He felt the subtle shift in her posture, a slight leaning forward, as if inviting gravity to take over.

Then it happened. The soft weight of Jane’s breast settled heavily into his waiting left hand. The suddenness, the sheer presence of it, jolted him. Derrick was sure the blindness amplified everything – the heat radiating through the thin sweater, the impossibly soft, yielding flesh, the surprising weight that felt three times larger without the bra’s structured tension. His fingers instinctively curled, cupping the fullness, his thumb brushing against the hardened peak beneath the wool. Jane inhaled sharply, a sound swallowed by the headphones but felt as a tremor against his palm.

"NOW," Bonnie’s voice crackled, sharp and urgent in his ear canal, cutting through the sensory overload. "WORK THE BREAST WITH YOUR OFF HAND." Derrick’s left hand obeyed almost before the command fully registered, his thumb circling tentatively, feeling the texture change beneath the sweater. "WHILE YOUR MAIN HAND SLIDES UP HER INNER THIGH." His right hand drifted down Jane’s flank, finding the hem of her shorts. His fingertips brushed bare skin, impossibly smooth and warm. "UNTIL YOU GET TO HOME PLATE."

Derrick’s hand paused at the edge of the fabric. Home plate. The crude baseball metaphor, so utterly Bonnie, landed awkwardly in the profound intimacy of the dark. He felt Jane’s thigh muscle tense slightly beneath his touch. Before he could process the absurdity or the sudden, terrifying proximity of that destination, a sharp gasp echoed directly into his headphones. It wasn't Jane's; it was Bonnie's. Close. Raw. Whether it was vicarious thrill or something else entirely – like she was the woman trembling under his hands – Derrick couldn't tell in the disorienting void.

But again, reflexively, he obeyed. As crazy as the woman whispering commands into his skull was, he trusted Bonnie. His right hand slid slowly, deliberately, beneath the soft cotton hem of Jane’s shorts, tracing the incredibly sensitive skin of her inner thigh upwards. Jane’s breath hitched again, a soft whimper escaping her lips this time, audible even through the padding. Her body seemed to arch infinitesimally towards his touch. His fingers climbed higher, navigating the soft, downy hair, the heat intensifying with every inch. He felt the subtle dip, the beginning of a different terrain, the destination Bonnie had bluntly named. His fingertips brushed against damp, silken folds. Jane gasped, a full-bodied sound this time, her hand flying up to clutch his forearm where it rested on her waist. Her grip was tight, almost painful.
