Chapter 18: The Sleeping Arrangements
The hour of quiet reflection passed with the sluggish dread of a suspended sentence. Aidan had finally tucked himself away, the denim rough against his oversensitive skin. He sat motionless, watching the dust motes dance in the lamplight. Catriona and Freya on the sofa were statues. Jenny in the armchair was a queen on a jury-rigged throne, her eyes closed, but Aidan knew she wasn’t sleeping. She was auditing.
When the digital clock on the cable box clicked over, her eyes opened.
“Stand,” she said.
They all stood, a unit activated by a single command. The stiffness in their limbs was from more than just sitting still.
“The sleeping arrangements,” Jenny continued, as if listing agenda items. “Normal beds are for normal nights. This is not that. For the integrity of the structure, proximity is required. We will all use Aidan’s room.”
Aidan’s mouth went dry. His bedroom was his haven, a messy testament to his bachelor life. Letting them in there now felt like the final breach of a frontier.
She led them down the short hallway. The laughter and music from the party next door were a tinny, distant soundtrack to their silent procession. Aidan opened his door, and the familiar scent of his space—clean laundry, stale coffee, the sandalwood candle Catriona had given him—wafted out. It felt like greeting a ghost of his old life.
Jenny surveyed the room. The double bed, unmade. The sagging armchair piled with clothes. The desk cluttered with coding manuals. She pointed to the bed.
“Freya. Lie down. In the center. On your back.”
Freya obeyed, peeling back the duvet and settling onto the dark grey sheets. She stared at the ceiling, her blonde hair fanning out like a halo. Her chest rose and fell in shallow breaths.
“Catriona.” Jenny’s voice was all business. “Join her. Head-to-toe. You know the position.”
Catriona’s lips pressed into a thin line. The defiance from earlier was gone, burned away by the sting on her arse and the taste in her mouth. She climbed onto the bed, moving over Freya’s body. She positioned herself so her hips were above Freya’s face, her own face hovering over Freya’s pelvis. A mirrored, intimate symmetry. A 69.
“You will both provide oral stimulation until instructed otherwise,” Jenny said. “Begin.”
For a beat, neither moved. The absurdity of the command hung in the air. Then Freya, her eyes still on the ceiling, lifted her hands. They settled on Catriona’s hips, guiding her down. At the same time, Catriona lowered her head.
The first sound was a sharp, surprised gasp—from Freya. Then a low, shaky moan was muffled against flesh. They began to move, a slow, tentative rhythm that quickly found a desperate, syncopated hunger. The room filled with wet, sucking sounds and ragged breaths. It was lewd and beautiful and heartbreaking. Freya’s slender fingers dug into Catriona’s still-reddened curves. Catriona’s shoulders tensed as she worked.
Jenny turned to Aidan. She placed a cool hand on his bare chest, feeling his hammering heart. “Now you,” she said softly. “Take your position. Behind Catriona. You will fuck her. Deep. Like she likes. And you will watch Freya watch you do it.”
His legs carried him forward on autopilot. He fumbled with his jeans, pushing them down. He was painfully hard again, a throbbing, ruddy weight. He knelt on the bed behind Catriona, the mattress dipping. The view was surreal: the pale, freckled globe of Catriona’s arse, the red marks vivid in the low light, and beyond it, Freya’s wide, glazed eyes looking right at him over the swell of Catriona’s thigh.
He guided himself into her. She was soaking wet, from her own arousal or Freya’s ministrations or both. He sank in with one slow, inexorable push, the tight, clutching heat making him see stars. Catriona screamed into Freya’s cunt, the vibration making Freya arch off the bed.
He set a pace, deep and rhythmic, exactly as instructed. Each thrust drove Catriona’s face harder into Freya, whose own cries became higher, more frantic. Aidan watched Freya’s face. Her mouth was open in a silent ‘o’, her pupils blown black. She was watching him take her roommate, watching the length of him disappear, and the look on her face wasn’t jealousy or horror. It was raw, unadulterated hunger.
Jenny had moved. She stood at the foot of the bed, a curator observing her living diorama. One hand slid under the hem of her dress, between her own legs. Her breath hitched, just once. Her other hand rested on the footboard, knuckles white.
The room became a engine of sweat and sex. The slap of skin, the choked cries, the creak of the bedsprings. Catriona was coming, her body clenching around Aidan in violent waves, her screams smothered. The sensation pushed him to the very brink. He was going to lose it, he was going to come inside her right there—
“Stop,” Jenny commanded, her voice slicing through the noise.
Aidan froze, buried to the hilt, trembling with the effort of holding still. Catriona and Freya fell apart beneath him, panting, dripping, spent but incomplete.
Jenny circled the bed. She looked at Aidan, his face strained with the agony of suspension. She didn’t smile. She simply nodded, as if confirming a hypothesis.
Then she knelt on the floor beside the bed, right next to where Aidan was poised over Catriona. She was eye-level with his hips. She looked up at him, her curly hair a dark cloud around her serious face.
“You’ve done well,” she said, her voice low. “You’ve maintained control when directed. That deserves a reward.” Her gaze dropped. “But the ultimate release is still mine to give.”
She leaned forward. Instead of taking him in her mouth, she did something else. She gently cupped his balls, heavy and tight, in her hand. Then she lowered her mouth and took just them inside, her lips forming a perfect, warm seal.
The sensation was bizarre, exquisite, overwhelming. A low, desperate sound was torn from Aidan’s throat. She sucked gently, her tongue swirling. It was an act of ultimate intimacy and ultimate dominion. He was completely at her mercy, balanced on a knife-edge of pleasure, and she was holding the handle.
He couldn’t hold on. The combined visuals—Freya’s wrecked, watching face, Catriona’s trembling back, Jenny’s focused, dark eyes on his—and the shocking, tender pressure of her mouth tipped him over.
He came with a broken shout, surging into Catriona in deep, pulsing waves. His vision whited out. Through the haze, he saw Freya’s hand snake down her own body, frantically chasing her own climax as she felt Catriona convulse around him. He heard Catriona’s sob of relief against Freya’s skin.
Jenny released him, sitting back on her heels. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, a practical gesture. She watched as the final tremors worked through all three of them on the bed, a beautiful, collapsed ruin.
When it was over, the only sound was the ragged symphony of their breathing and the distant thump of bass from next door.
Jenny stood. She looked at the tangle of limbs on the bed, the spent bodies glistening in the low light from his desk lamp.
“The sleeping arrangements,” she said, her voice regaining its steady, paralegal calm. “You will all stay here. Aidan, you will hold Freya. Catriona, you will hold Aidan from behind. I will take the armchair.”
She gestured to the nest of blankets on his old reading chair. “I will observe. The structure remains until morning.”
She turned and walked to the armchair, settling into it with a weary sigh that seemed, for the first time, genuinely human. She pulled a blanket over herself, becoming a shadow with watching eyes.
Mechanically, they rearranged themselves on the sweat-damp sheets. Freya curled into Aidan’s chest, her face hidden. Catriona pressed against his back, her arm slung over his waist, her warm breath on his shoulder blade. He was trapped in a sandwich of their warmth, their scent, their submission.
He lay awake long after their breathing evened out. Staring at the silhouette of Jenny in the chair, he understood. She wasn’t in the bed because she wasn’t part of the tangle. She was outside it. She was the architect.
And from the slow, deliberate way she was stroking her own arm in the dark, he knew she wasn’t sleeping either. She was just beginning.
