Chapter 4: The Morning After the Lens
The grey light of early morning filtered through Zelda’s living room windows, the world outside hushed and soft. Aidan woke to an empty space in the bed beside him, the sheets cool. He pulled on his jeans and padded barefoot down the hall, following the faint, flickering glow from the living room.
Zelda was curled in the corner of the worn leather sofa, knees drawn up. Her phone glowed in her hands, casting a pale blue light on her face. Her expression was unreadable—somewhere between mesmerized and apprehensive. The tinny, breathy sounds of yesterday spilled from the speaker, muted but unmistakable.
He leaned against the doorframe, watching her watch them. The intimacy of it was almost more exposing than the act itself. She hadn’t deleted it.
She finally sensed him, her head jerking up. A blush spread across her freckled cheeks, swift and deep. She fumbled, pausing the video. The screen froze on a blurred image of his back, her leg hooked over his hip.
“I couldn’t sleep,” she said, her voice still rough with sleep. “I just… wondered if it was real.”
“Is it?” He kept his voice neutral, giving her space.
She swallowed, looking back at the frozen image. “It’s so much more… intense than I remember. The way you look at me. I didn’t see it in the moment. I was feeling it, but I didn’t see it.” She tapped the screen. “Here. Right before you… you know. You look wrecked.”
He walked over and sat beside her, the old leather sighing under his weight. His thigh pressed against hers. He took the phone from her lax fingers. “Play it.”
“Aidan—”
“Play it. From the beginning.”
She did, her finger trembling slightly. They watched in silence as the recording began—her setting up the tripod, the nervous glance she threw the lens, his calm nod. Seeing it from this third-person perspective was surreal. It was like watching two other people, charged and hungry, move with a synchronized grace. Him pushing her robe from her shoulders. Her guiding him onto the bed.
The audio was raw. Her gasp as she took him inside her was a shuddering, open thing. His low curse was pure gravel. Aidan watched, fascinated, as his own hands, those practical engineer’s hands, moved over her body with a possessiveness he hadn’t fully acknowledged feeling in the moment. He saw the exact second her performance melted into genuine abandon, the facade dissolving into pure, unfiltered need.
When it ended, the room felt too quiet. The last frame was a shaky, close-up blur of tangled sheets.
Zelda took the phone back and set it facedown on the coffee table with a definitive click. She turned to him, her eyes wide and dark in the dim light. Without a word, she shifted, climbing into his lap, her worn robe falling open. The warmth of her seeped through his jeans. She pressed her forehead against his.
“I want to do it again,” she whispered, her breath warm on his lips. “But different.”
“Okay.” His hands found the curve of her waist, anchoring her.
“This time,” she said, her voice gaining a thread of steel, “I want you to talk to it. To the camera. Not to me. Tell them what you’re doing. Tell them what you see.”
A slow heat uncoiled in his gut. The command in her voice, the specific vulnerability she was requesting, was a twist of the knife. It wasn’t just about being watched anymore. It was about being narrated. Defined by his gaze.
“Yeah,” he breathed. “I can do that.”
They moved with a new purpose. She fetched the tripod from the bedroom. He set it up this time, on a stack of art books on the side table, angling it to capture the length of the sofa. The red light blinked on, an unwavering eye.
He turned to her. She was standing in the middle of the room, her robe pooled at her feet. She was entirely still, waiting. He approached, not touching her yet, letting his eyes travel over her as if for the camera’s benefit.
“She’s waiting,” he said, his voice low and direct, aimed at the lens over her shoulder. “You can see it. The flush right here.” He touched the skin just above her breastbone with one knuckle. Zelda shivered. “She’s trying to be calm. But she’s trembling.”
He guided her backwards until her knees hit the sofa. She sank down, and he followed, kneeling on the floor between her legs. He didn’t kiss her. He looked at the camera.
“Watch,” he told it.
Then he bent his head and put his mouth on her. Zelda cried out, one hand flying to fist in his dark hair. He worked her with a focused intensity, his hands holding her hips down, his tongue a relentless, knowing pressure. Her breaths became short, sharp pants.
“She tastes like honey,” he murmured against her, the words partly muffled, partly picked up by the phone’s mic. “And she’s so fucking wet already. Just from this. From knowing you’re watching.”
He brought her to the edge twice, easing off just before she fell, making her whimper in frustration. Only then did he stand, unbuckled his jeans, and freed himself. He was thick and heavy, fully erect. He looked at the camera, gesturing with a blunt, casual pride that made Zelda’s heart pound. “She takes all of it. Every time.”
He didn’t lie over her. He sat on the sofa and pulled her into his lap, her back to his chest. He guided himself inside her from behind, a slow, stretching fill that made them both groan. One arm banded around her ribs, holding her tight against him. The other hand fisted in her copper curls, gently angling her face toward the camera’s eye.
“Look at them,” he commanded her, his voice a hot growl in her ear. “Let them see.”
Her eyes, dazed and lust-darkened, found the lens. She rode him like that, a slow, grinding counterpoint to the frantic pace of the day before. Every movement was amplified, displayed. Aidan kept talking, a running commentary of filth and reverence.
“See how she moves? She knows what she needs. She’s using me for it.” His grip in her hair tightened just shy of pain. “Look at her skin. Every freckle. I’ve counted them.” He drove up into her, making her gasp. “You’re seeing her come apart. And it’s because of me.”
It was the truth, stripped bare and broadcast. Zelda felt something break open, a final shell of privacy shattering. She was completely known, completely seen, completely his in that moment. The orgasm slammed into her with zero warning, a silent, seismic wave that clenched around him, stealing her breath and vision.
He held her through it, his own control fraying. “That’s it,” he rasped, his face buried in her neck, his words still for the microphone. “That’s all for you. That’s mine.”
He followed her over, his release pumping deep into her with a series of ragged thrusts, his big body shuddering against hers. For a long minute, the only sound was their ragged breathing and the silent watchfulness of the recording light.
Slowly, he reached out a shaking arm and waved it past the phone. The light went off.
The stillness that followed was dense, saturated. He gently extracted himself, laying her down on the sofa. He went to the kitchen, returning with a damp, warm cloth. He cleaned her with a tender practicality that contrasted violently with the explicit ownership of his words minutes before. She was too boneless to move, to speak.
He disposed of the cloth, then came back, lifting her legs to sit and pulling them across his lap. He leaned back, staring at the blank, dark screen of the phone.
Zelda’s mind was empty, scoured clean. She curled her hand around his wrist, her thumb finding the steady drum of his pulse. “Your voice,” she finally whispered. “I’ve never heard you like that.”
He looked down at her, his usual guardedness gone, replaced by a weary, open honesty. “I’ve never felt like that.” He let out a long, slow breath. “That was… a lot.”
“Yeah.”
They sat in the gathering dawn light, the weight of what they’d created—the digital evidence, the shared secret, the new, uncharted territory of their relationship—settling over them. It wasn’t just a video anymore. It was a testament. And neither of them knew yet what to do with it.
