Bryce, a reclusive game developer with a cult following, gets more than he bargained for when his bubbly, yoga-pant-clad neighbor Lana tries out the real-life firmware update on his new master rig. The HOA will definitely hear about this.

Chapter 8: Infernal Contract

The key turned in the lock with a dull, metallic scrape, a sound that was usually the highlight of Brice’s day. He shouldered the door open, his arms full with a greasy paper bag of takeout and a six-pack of craft beer, the universal peace offerings for a man who’d spent the last forty-eight hours crunching code in his office. The familiar scent of his apartment—old pizza, ozone from overclocked processors, and the faint, lingering note of Willow’s peony-scented shampoo from her last visit—washed over him.

Then he heard it.

A low, throaty moan, followed by a breathy sigh that seemed to vibrate through the very air. It was coming from his living room. He froze, the bag of food suddenly feeling like a lead weight in his hands. His first, frantic thought was an intrusion, a violation of his sanctuary. But then his brain, ever the logical processor, parsed the sound. It wasn’t distress. It was… pleasure.

He crept forward, his worn sneakers silent on the laminate floor. Peering around the corner of the hallway, he saw her.

Willow was sprawled across his black leather couch, her VR helmet emitting a soft, pulsing cyan light. Her body was a symphony of movement, back arched, hips rolling in a slow, sensual rhythm against the cushions. Her fingers clutched at the fabric of her own leggings, and another moan, rich and unselfconscious, tore from her lips. "Oh… yes… right there…" she breathed, her voice a husky whisper that sent a jolt straight to Brice’s groin.

A hot, possessive flush warmed his neck. So, she was having a bit of sexy fun time in-game. The thought was simultaneously arousing and strangely intimidating. What, or who, was making her sound like that? He set the food and beer down on the floor with exaggerated care, his heart hammering against his ribs. He had to know. He had to see.

He slid into his master rig chair, the leather sighing in welcome. With practiced efficiency, he pulled on his own helmet, the world dissolving into the digital loading screen of his own creation, Aethelgard. He selected his admin avatar and navigated directly to Willow’s last known coordinates, a private celestial realm designed for meditation.

The world resolved into a grove of crystalline trees under a nebula-strewn sky. And there she was. His Willow, or rather, her elven sorceress avatar, was on her knees in the silvery grass. But she wasn’t alone.

Two figures attended to her. They were breathtaking, terrifying, and utterly impossible. Their skin was the color of twilight, shimmering with a subtle, internal radiance. elegant, onyx horns curved from their brows, and vast, membranous wings, like those of a colossal bat, were folded against their backs. They moved with a predatory grace, their long, delicate fingers tracing patterns over Willow’s avatar, drawing forth shudders and whimpers. Succubi.

Brice’s breath hitched. He’d written lore entries for them, flavor text about soul-bargains and seductive demons, but he’d never coded the assets. There were no models, no animations, no AI routines for them in the game. They shouldn’t exist. Yet here they were, their beauty so potent it felt like a physical blow. "Damn," he whispered into his mic, the word swallowed by the digital ether.

One of the succubi had its head buried between Willow’s avatar’s thighs, its tongue flicking out with impossible speed, while the other caressed her breasts, pinching and teasing her nipples. Willow’s back was bowed, her digital form trembling on the precipice.

"Willow?" Brice’s voice was rough, strained. "You, uh… you look like you could use a hand. Or… company. If you want."

As one, the three figures turned. The succubi lifted their heads, and Brice’s admin console flashed a catastrophic error warning. Their eyes were not pupils and irises, but glowing, mesmerizing spirals of violet and gold. They spun, pulling at his vision, at his very sense of self.

In the real world, a weight settled on him. He felt the the warm, solid pressure of a body straddling his hips. He was vaguely aware of his helmet being lifted from his head, the real world rushing back in a disorienting wave of sensation.

He blinked, his eyes struggling to focus. Willow was on top of him, pinning him to the sofa. Her yoga top was askew, her hair a wild golden halo. And her eyes… her beautiful, lively blue eyes were gone. In their place were the same hypnotic, swirling spirals he had just seen in the game.

He tried to speak, to ask what was happening, but the words died in his throat. The spirals pulled him in, drowning his thoughts, his will, his fear. There was only the spiral, and her. A profound, placid calm washed over him. This was right. This was where he was supposed to be.

He woke with a start, the faint, greasy smell of forgotten Chinese food tickling his nose. He was on the couch, still in his jeans and hoodie. Willow was curled against his side, her head on his chest, snoring softly.

He shifted, and she stirred, blinking up at him with clear, perfectly normal blue eyes.

"Hey, you," she murmured, a sleepy, sated smile playing on her lips. "That was… fun."

Brice’s mind felt fuzzy, like a hard drive after a unexpected reboot. Fragments of memory surfaced: the game, the impossible succubi, Willow’s eyes… but they lacked coherence, the emotional charge stripped away. It felt like a dream, a particularly vivid and kinky dream.

"Yeah," he agreed, his voice hoarse. He ran a hand through her hair. "Yeah, it was. You were… incredible."

She stretched like a cat, her body pressing against his. "I don't know what came over me. I was just exploring that pretty sky place and then I saw you and…" She shrugged, nuzzling into his neck. "Guess I just couldn't keep my hands off you."

He held her tighter, the last vestiges of confusion melting away under the warm, simple truth of her presence. It had just been a bit of sexy fun time between consenting adults. Right?
