Chapter 7: Reward and Revenge
Back at Port Royal, we had a little celebratory breakfast at a small eatery. Some good pieces of bread and sausages were enough for us to recharge after a grueling operation.
The eatery was small, but cozy, filled with the warm aroma of freshly baked goods and the comforting hum of morning chatter. I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief, the weight of success finally settling in my bones.
"Ah, the victory is sweet, isn't it, Amir?" Captain Hawkswell said, raising his tankard of ale in a toast. I clinked my glass against his, a grin spreading across my face.
"Indeed, Captain. That treasure was a beauty, and I'm glad we got it back," I replied, taking a hearty swig of my drink.
Later on, as we headed back to the Pirate Cove, Captain Hawkswell told me and Captain Blackwood that he has an important thing to do, so he left us after we said our goodbyes.
At that time, word got out about the black pirate who succeeded in Captain Blackwood's mission. I was suddenly swarmed by rookie pirates.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Calm down, everyone!" I exclaimed, raising my hands in a placating gesture. The eager faces surrounding me were a mix of awe and curiosity, their eyes wide with wonder. "I'm just a newbie myself, you know. I had some good teachers, that's all."
The crowd murmured in agreement, their gazes shifting from me to Captain Blackwood, who stood beside me with a proud smile. "Amir here is right," she said, her voice carrying over the chatter. "He's still learning the ropes, just like all of you. But he's got potential, that's for sure. And I expect great things from him in the future."
The crowd cheered, their enthusiasm palpable as they clapped me on the back and shook my hand. I couldn't help but grin at the sudden outpouring of support, my chest swelling with pride.
"Alright, alright, settle down," Captain Blackwood said, raising her voice to be heard over the din. "We've got work to do. We can't rest on our laurels just yet."
The crowd dispersed, eager to get back to their duties, leaving Captain Blackwood and me alone in the cove.
Back at The Scarlet Serpent, docked on the shores of town, me and my crew prepare for the time should Rodrigo come back to avenge his stolen treasure.
[Speaking of which...]
On board his ship, Rodrigo El Terrible is mad that the Golden Llama, the treasure he found first was stolen from him.
He is determined to get it back and make us pay for our audacity. He has been sending his men to search for us all over the Caribbean, but we have been careful to keep our whereabouts hidden.
"They can't believe they got away with that Incan treasure that I found first! This is an outrage!" Rodrigo exclaimed.
"I will not rest until I have that llama back in my possession and the heads of those who dared to steal it from me!" His voice echoed through the cove, a chilling promise that sent shivers down my spine.
[We cut back to The Scarlet Serpent.]
I turned to Captain Blackwood, her expression grave. "We need to be extra vigilant, Captain. Rodrigo won't stop until he gets what he wants."
She nodded, her jaw set in a determined line. "You're right, Amir. We'll need to beef up our security and keep a low profile. No more drawing attention to ourselves until we've dealt with Rodrigo."
Suddenly, Captain Blake returned from his personal duties. "Just had to deal with some team dynamics," he said.
"But I'm back now, and I heard we've got a situation with Rodrigo." He looked at us, his eyes sharp and focused.
"Indeed," Captain Blackwood replied. "We've got to be on high alert. Rodrigo's not going to let this go."
Captain Blake nodded, his gaze shifting between us. "I've been thinking. We need to rally more support. If we're going to take Rodrigo down, we can't do it alone."
Captain Blackwood's eyes narrowed, considering his words. "You're right. We need more allies. But who can we trust?"
"Well," Captain Blake began, "I've been talking to some of the other captains..."
